I love this pistol. Sold my S &W Shield and Ruger LC9 after I got this. Shoots smooth and accurate, recoil is light. Got the 6, 7,and the 8 round mags. Excellent carry pistol.
I have one and love the construction. This is one of the very few guns that still uses the tenifer finish the original Glocks were known for and polygonal rifling. Great German engineering.
I was happy to see your review! I went to my LGS over lunch today to compare a G42 and G43x, but the guy insisted I also look at the P-10S and M and this Walther. Wow. The P-10M and PPS M2 triggers were sooooooo much nicer, but the Walther took it with how it fit in my hands. Once the bank says I can, I'm going back for one. The bank currently has me on a one-in/one-out policy. :-(
That's why I just subscribed. I am impartial to PPS myself. "Feels like a glove" is an accurate description - except I wouldn't say it about 6-round magazine. People with larger hands might disagree though. Holstering safety feature is why it's my favorite pocket carry. Between me and my wife, we have three of them: one with tritium sights, one with red dot, and one with Crimson Trace laser. Never knew about backup feed ramp, thanks for the information.
Got my M2 LE for $315 at Bud's Gun Shop, they are great. Got a decent ankle holster from Shoot Straight for like $29. Like the PPQ, it has a nice, smooth, crisp trigger with a great reset, honestly, one of the best synonymous to the PPQ's trigger in .40/.45ACP.
I bought the PPS M2 in 2022. It’s an accurate and flat shooting subcompact that I used for conceal carry and planned to use for IDPA “BUG” division. In 2023 the gun went full auto after intermittent trigger reset failure. I sent it to Walther and they replaced some components of the internal steel frame trigger control assembly. It now shoots well with a slightly heavier trigger pull and my confidence in the firearm is nearly restored. I just saw it featured on Swat season 7 in a seen featuring impressive life saving accuracy. This is a “sleeper” gun.
As a warm-weather pocket pistol, my PPS M2 had major problems with the mag release spring and the slide stop spring rusting. Even Frog Lube didn't help. Carry was in a Galco pocket holster.
They need to release a pps m3. They should give the pps m3 a metal trigger, the pdp grip texture, widen the slide just enough to make it a semi double stack with a capacity of 13+1 or if possible, 16 rounds. Double the capacity. And make the sights night sights, and make the trigger a tad bit lighter, and reduce the reset alot!
@@shootingscience maybe so, but I still think the pps m2 is peak conceal carry. The ppq sc was proof they were working towards something like a pps m3.
I’ve been rotating carrying my Walther PPS M2 for bout five years now, it’s stays in my rotation for multiple reasons. Love this gun, it’s reliable and efficient for personal protection.
One of my favorite handguns. Mine came with the XS F8 night sights. Fits my hands and has never had a malfunction. The only thing I have to get is Talon grips. Enjoy your videos.
I have had this handgun for a couple of years and I love it. it is incredibly accurate. Itis so easy to conceal carry. Even if the ammo is limited it's still enough for conceal carry. I donot use the 7 and 6 magazines. I bought two more 8 round mags. So I use three 8 round mags at any given time when I conceal carry. I bought the Walther PDP full size 5 inch as well and it is nice too. I do not enjoy conceal carrying it because it is so dang large. I carry it in the colder months under a jacket.
I have a Hellcat Pro right now as my main carry, but I miss carrying my Walther PPQ M2 when I lived in the Midwest during spring, autumn and winter. Living in South Florida again, it's much harder to carry even compacts 😅. Even my Hellcat Pro is rough during the Floridian summer. A PPS M3 based on the PDP platform with an increase in capacity to a P365XL or Shield Plus would be ideal and something I would buy instantly. Walther is as high quality as HK but without the ridiculous price tag. Gotta love German engineering.
The rear sight dovetail on the slide is asymmetrical. Rear sight needs to be driven out from Left to Right and the new sight driven in from Right to Left. This is because Walther uses a sort of expanding coil pin between the dovetail and the rear sight to hold the sight in place and you can see the one-way groove on the right side of the dovetail. You do not need to re-use the coil pin when installing aftermarket night sights. In my case I installed TruGlo Tritium Pro night sights.
I used to own a PPS M1. I loved that gun. I carried it regularly for years. It was very well made, with tight tolerances that made it extremely accurate for me. Its slim, single stack design made it very comfortable to carry IWB. Unlike most American shooters, I actually liked the European-style magazine release. I regret selling it until this day. I wish Walther would redesign it in a stack and a half configuration, like the Sig P365 & S&W M&P Shield Plus (my current EDC).
Hey, great review man. I can really see how much you love this baby. I just made the purchase and will pick her up next week. I too have the Hellcat RDP and recently even the Staccato CS and equally excited to try this out.
I bought an LE edition with the slide milled for a direct mount 407k. It appears C&H precision did the work and mounted the optic. It's recognized by walther and isn't a 1 off. Stock sights don't co witness but are barely usable in a worst case scenario very easy.
I love my Walther PPS M2. It's my fall/winter EDC. I'll never trade it, but I'm tempted by the g-43x to get 15 rounds. Living in the Chicago area makes 15 necessary.
I'm hearing rumors that Walther may finally be issuing a higher capacity version of the PPS. I don't care personally, as I'm happy with my PPS M1, but it's interesting nonetheless.
I had a Springfield XD mod 2 that had that little firing pin that came out the back like that and it got dirty and I started having light primer strikes even though I cleaned my firearm every time I went to the range. I had to actually take the firing pin out and clean just because the lent and dirt from EDC the gun 🤦
The m1 original (Hard to find!) is ambi mag release with the paddle. I know, SPN doesn't like the paddle as much. But, once you get used to it, and the versatility of it, it's a better system for quite a few users. A more enjoyable one, for a lot of users too.
Agree 99% with this review, except for the button mag release vs paddle. I’ve carried the PPS M2 for 7 years now. The Glock 43X/48 are tempting for sure, but since I appendix carry, that striker indicator on the back of the slide makes all the difference in giving me peace of mind while reholstering. In fact, even though HK might be releasing their SFPcc this year and Walther could be developing a PPS M3, I recently invested more in my PPS M2 by sending the slide out to get milled for an MRS. Now it’s even better, in my estimation.
Trigger would be preference. For range time, I'll take the trigger on the Shield Plus *Any* day of the week. But, with that very short travel, that I absolutely *love* on the 2.0+ ... the PPS trigger would be a safer _carry_ option, for Me.
Hey just subscribed Looking for CC. I’ve looked into several options Glock, HK, SW and others. I was thinking G26 but this Walther looks interesting. Excellent gripping with the magazines. Nice tutorial
Aw shoot bro caught me off guard with the pps. I wanted this so bad but I couldn’t because the shield plus exists. I have a pdp tho but it’s just fuckin huge
The size on the PDP. You know, that's so the thing can double as a MACE, right? 😄 You own a great pistol, AND a horrific blunt weapon! 😆 All in the same holster! I haven't had a chance to get my hands on one yet. But I will say that I disagree with Walther's decision for this as a *replacement* for the PPQ. As for the PPS. Great pistol. Loved the feel of it, as soon as I put it in my hand. Shoots great too. But as soon as I popped the mag and saw it marked for 6 rounds? Nope, nope, nope, and Nope.
I agree with you Spin! - If you can’t defend yourself with a 6 +1, you suck at shooting and you need more training! Sorry, not Sorry! The average self defense situation lasts 3 seconds and 3 rounds are fired.
Walther makes a model of the pps that comes stock with nice night sights the front is an orange dot and the rear is serrated with a single dot kind of like the XS big Dot or Hiene figure 8s
I don’t. I actually have the xd9 and it’s one of my favorite handguns. It’s also one of my first carry guns. They are the same just a different caliber!

I got my LE model for $300 locally. Make sure your barrel doesn't peen too much from the trigger bar. My new one isn't but 5 years ago mine was really bad.
Agreed. That's how I feel about my p99. And now that it's discontinued, it's bloody HELL trying to find one. Other than that UGLY ass "Final Edition". Which is STILL $799!
If you can get one in good condition, and it's not going to hurt you for your budget, *do* it. The m1's are getting hard to find, and the .40s are turning into pennies. (They go from pocket to pocket to pocket, of *different* people's jeans). It will never be a collector's item, by *any* means. But it's one of those pistols that you can brag about having. But, as for carry? I mean, that's something you'd have to shoot, in order for you to decide. Walthers are, in my experience a slightly snappier brand. And .40 is quite so, as a caliber. Fairly _loud_ too. So it's not an enjoyable experience for _some_ shooters. And a gun they don't like shooting, is a gun they don't wanna carry. Again, you have to shoot it to decide for yourself.
Mine sits in the safe... it won't go 100 rounds without a failure to feed! The mags are junk, and Walther needed to go back to the drawing board 8 years ago..
