  • When companies ignore demand of their end users, others step up and surpass the bar. These are my words (agree or disagree but keep it civil) and this is not endorsed by any flashlight company mentioned in the video..

Surefire had done great on my lights warranty and service. They sent me brand new units in less then a week.

@@Jdowling357 It’s amazing. I went ahead and got a couple extra batteries for each and a replacement lens and tail cap for each just to have on hand. I got the full kits with the pressure pad.
1911 syndicate did a three part series on lights it was pretty awesome and the Rein beat Modlight and Surefire

Very accurate video. Spot on with what I would imagine a majority of SureFire flashlight customers are feeling. Still love those guys for my muzzle devices and can but the flashlight can use serious improvements

You speak all truth when it comes down to all those options. We always have these conversations at the shop because people are not realizing modlite is the future. Everything you broke down is 100% truth when referring to the peoples wants with surefire and modlite coming in hot with the best of tech.

I know this video old, as is the subject im about to mention: But my fave part about surefire is when an unsavorable political donation was discovered with SF's company name attached to it and their response was to blame employees and deny evidence until it was all "under the rug" and people had moved on. 😀 😒

Truth man. Surefire quality has diminished. Had their 600df and the head lenses cracked. Will be replacing it with a Modlite head. Ended up getting the owl for my duty rifle.

I have an OWL and it has been great so far. Funny thing is that if you look at the torture tests of the Cloud Defensive products they're just carbon copies of the ones Elzetta did ten years ago!😂 It's hilarious, just look at them pounding nails with the Cloud, then look at some of the oldest videos on RUclips of Elzetta doing it! So far Cloud falls a bit short of the toughest Elzetta test- throwing their lights out of a helo onto the tarmac from a few hundred feet up.
The reason that Cloud and Modlight are getting those uber high outputs is really simple- using higher voltage rechargeables. But be advised that this is a mixed bag. NO RECHARGEABLE ON THE MARKET can match the reliability of a quality CR123a battery! None of them! For years Elzetta has cautioned users not to use 18650s for life-critical missions. Well, the siren song of high output has won the day, and even Elzetta makes bodies that can accommodate them (although they still stipulate CR123a for life-critical applications).
I am on the fence. The output of my OWL w/1 x 18650 is just slightly better than my Elzetta Charlie w/ 3 x CR123a. The lens of the OWL is 3mm thick while the lens of the Elzetta is around 1" (yeah, one inch!) thick. Both are about as indestructible as a light can be made with present materials. It's not easy to trust the 18650 as it has some limitations but the unprotected cells are pretty decent. I'll run with the OWL and hope I don't die due to battery failure!😂☠️ Luckily I'm Low-Speed, High-Drag and don't get into gunfights on the regular.👻😅

Do you have any idea what LED are used on Modlite? For the PLH V2 I am guessing XHP35 HI while for the OKW I am guessing an Osram Flat White led.
I'll pick Elzetta and Modlite over Surefire. For top notch durability and performance go for Elzetta. For top notch quality, output and performance as well go for Modlite.

21700 batteries will change the game again. 5000 mah vs 26-3500 mah. Longer runtimes and more output then 18650s.

Keep it simple! There are different models and options for different people, not all of us need to have the sun on a gun. Put your money where you want and keep on going no needs to make it a problem

Both SF and Elzetta believe/believed that for critical duty applications, e.g., combat, primaries are more reliable than rechargeables. Hence the continued push for cr123s and their caution that 18650s are for non critical duty use only.

@@bigbluemsp I love both companies, and own both of their products - but I’ll be truthful and unbiased when stating my opinion, plus that helps drive healthy competition. With that being said, cloud has already proven to be a superior product when it comes to lights (spec wise and durability).
