Do you still swear by the setting on the video like turning off hdmi link, dropping to 1080p and disconnecting hdmi cable? Just wondering if some the updates that you found it doesn't matter about using the changes mentioned.? Saw the new video on your thought 4 months later which is great too👍🏻
Dude I had to come back to find your video to THANK YOU. I would have never thought to hook up my ps5 via hardwire that alone has made all the difference in the world. Call of Duty is actucally in a playable state on the portal. I can’t thank you enough sir. SUBBED
If you're doing WIFI on both the PS5 and Portal, the best way to improve streaming issues is to simply make sure each is running on a different band (i.e. run your PS5 on 2.4ghz and your Portal on 5ghz). I've personally seen this fix streaming issues on two different networks. This is usually caused by cheaper routers that struggle to communicate with both the Portal and PS5 at the same time on the same band, when you use different bands, it doesn't need to switch the device it's currently communicating with, which seems to resolve a lot of issues. Of course, if you *can* wire your PS5 directly, that's still the best way to go, but just not practical for many users.
@@bash8387 That has nothing to do with your internet if you're playing on your own network. You can use remote play/the portal even if your internet connection is down. All streaming happens within your local network, so if it's lagging, it's because of your equipment or configuration.
@@NOLACKINGSLIME It's really not that complicated. @bash8387 was saying he has the 'highest internet'. I just explained that his internet speed is irrelevant if he's playing on his own home network. If you start a Playstation remote play session at home, with the PS5 and Portal both connected to the same network, you can physically disconnect the wire connecting your home network to the internet and the remote play session will keep running (without internet access). The reason this works is because it's not streaming via the internet if you're on the same network. It only streams via the internet if you're playing from a different network. So your internet speed is irrelevant, it comes down to your local network equipment and setup. Unfortunately, the Portal does enforce that you have an active internet connection when it connects to the wifi network. I'm not sure why Sony did this, as it's not required on any other remote play device, but once the connection's been made, you can literally disconnect your internet and the remote play session will keep running.
Crazy i get better performance over my wifi than hardwire to my ps5. i dont change any settings or unplug my hdmi, and i get amazing performance in my house and from anywhere i can connect. Great videon none the less
Thanks fam! Yeah the only thing I did right from the start which helped was connect my ps5 to Ethernet cable and it definitely helped! It’s been working great for me, what games have you been playing on your portal?
you may need to buy a better ethernet cable that can transport more data at once, there are lots of cables nowdays and some of them are made to older times when internet connection could not go as fast, thecnology is geting better and better, so sometimes even wireless can be better than outdated ethernet, but if you use a ethernet cable actually able to input and output your bandwidth it will always be better.
Thank you! I already have good performance but these really help! Love the PlayStation portal. Take it away from home and have not had real lag issues.
So in the beginning I wasn’t going to get a portal but I saw a good deal online for $170 and now I actually love it. I take the Portal and my ROG Ally every where they’re all I need.

Found out first hand to disable 120hz on supported games. COD Cold War for example appears "stuttery" on the portal if it's set for 120hz. The Portal maxes out at 60hz anyway, and you can turn on RT as a bonus.
@@purepsxI do to but when it gets intense it lags. Sometimes I Evan get the poor connection icon. I’m hard wired and only 4 meters away. Maybe those bits you’ve mentioned can help
Thank you for the positive PlayStation portal regret it I had to get the PlayStation in order to be playing the portal 🙇 what happened to the old carrying the games around and I don't like how I have to pay for the PlayStation Plus you need Wi-Fi as well
Quick question. So I understand it is remote play. But I was wondering is there a way where let’s say I can watch RUclips on my actual PS5 in the living room and play a Game on my portal? If so how would I be able to do it? If not Aw damn (it would be a cool feature)
Hey, afraid you can’t do that as the portal is basically a mirror of whatever your ps5 is displaying! That would be cool tho! How are you finding your portal!?
I’m not sure if it even has a Bluetooth chip but that would be cool if it did , I think they will definitely enable cloud play tho as it seems capabale of that, maybe once they have sold enough ps5 consoles they will turn that on! Did you pick up a PlayStation portal!?
My first unit had a loose right stick. Returned. My second unit vibration doesn't do anything but makes a little rumble and noise. This happens only on Cloud Gaming Beta however. While streaming games directly from PS5 the vibration feels normal. Either PS5 is telling Portal to do a stronger vibration and it makes it feel normal or its just broken. My luck is terrible it seems. Been asking everywhere and nobody has the same issue.

I don’t know, man. I did everything I could, even got a new internet provider, a new router and a new access point. I have really bad eyesight so playing on the portal would mean a lot for me… but I just can’t have fun with that device. Even with 500-700 download per WLAN and 800 download per LAN I still have around 1/3 a second delay. It’s unbelievably frustrating, especially because I’ve seen so much money on it already. Is there any possibility to reduce the delay further or is that the best the portal can do?
Ahh that sucks fam! When you say a 1/3 second delay do you mean 1 to 3 seconds or 1 third of a second? Also do you mean input delay from when you do something so when you see the movement happen on your portal!? Have you tried all the tips in this video?
@@purepsxI mean one third of a second delay. I mostly play shooters and soulsborne so delay really makes them unplayable. And yea, pretty much input delay. I press a button and it takes a while to show it on the screen. I’ve sadly tried all the methods already. Still great video tho
I’d advise against this if it’s only for use in your ps5, say your not gonna maybe use it in the future in a of for example, save yourself some cash to spend on games or accessories, tech radar puts it better than I could explain it here - “Do PS5 SSD sequential speeds matter? One thing to get out of the way is PS5 SSDs rarely reach the same rates as what the drives are capable of on PC. This is due to the fact that many modern motherboards can supply more power than the PS5’s board. This means that while many PS5 SSDs are quoted at hitting up to 7,000 MB/s, you’re likely to only really see between 5,500 and 6,500 MB/s at the top end.” Article here if anyone wants to read it - www.techradar.com/features/do-ps5-ssd-read-and-write-speeds-really-make-a-difference
Its dual sense controller with a screen point blank. Not for competitive gaming but could be used in a pinch. I got it so I don't have to turn the big bright TV on while my wife is sleeping in the room because that's where my PS5 is.
Does anyone have problems pressing the buttons? I mean that sometimes you press them and they don't respond, you have to press them very hard to work, I bought the portal two weeks ago and I don't know if it is or it's a factory problem
I had that problem when I had the ps5 connected to the wifi wirelessly but had the ethernet cable plugged in too. Disconnecting the ethernet helped me out. Hope it helps you if you still need it. Don't know why that worked but it did.
@@purepsx yes I have one !! I have mid range internet , not the best but not the worst . It amazes me that people really try to play competitive FPS games on this and complain , they also bash it . I take FPS games serious and I have a pc for that .
FPS games play just fine, on the same home network anyway. If away from home it's not advisable imo, but that's with any fast paced games anyway. Like Spiderman 2 etc.
I had no idea you could split the network to use either 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz. I'm using an Ethernet cable so I don't need to so that but I have just in case I stop using an ethernet cable.
Gran Turismo 7 is unplayable because of this slight delay when pressing a button. And Ive done many many hours of testing and i have tried everything. There will be always slight delay. Fiber optic super fast internet, ASUS gaming router, Ethernet connected PS5 and Portal to 5GHz and even in the same room - there is this slight delay. So forget about fast paced online games. Story and strategy games - ok, but everything else is pain in the ass.
really? thats weird, racing games have worked fine for me so far, only time i notice it is in online fps games, what games have you been playing on your portal that you have been enjoying and finding work well?
I’m not sure if that makes a difference, I’d imagine from the ps5 would be best as the device will probably know there’s no hdmi attacked unlike if you have it in the console it will still try and send the signal to the cable even if it’s plugged in or not
Where sony have dropped the ball with this is that it won't stream the ps3 games. This is a big loss for me. Hopefully an update will allow this and RUclips functionality. FYI. Releasing the hdmi makes absolutely no difference. I've tested it at work on a 65mb connection.😊
@purepsx there isn't an awful lot more it can do with it being a streaming only device. It would be nice of it could just run the ps3 streaming side of ps plus along with being able to run RUclips and Netflix. Yes I know there is a workaround to get Google running but it's not ideal.
My internet isnt the best, i use an ethanet cable but i can play cod small maps with no real issues. I noticed lag once.. and that was when the misses was downloading a game to her switch whilst the kids were on the tablets... but, when theyre just on tablets or their ps5 i have no issues playing cod
Thanks for the tips, i tried everything and still the same issue, last session before having that annoying blurry screen i coul Play 30 minutes and now it's After 2 minute's. I have no Idea why i have a correct connection (90mbps) . I really don't know what to do 😔
Yes as long as your internet connection is good enough which you are connecting too at your destination and your ps5 is configured correctly in rest mode
Doesn’t make sense does it!? I know, loads of comments on RUclips and Reddit, maybe the machine isn’t outputting to hdmi when it’s not plugged in or something? Seems to make a big difference for some people! How are you finding the PlayStation portal so far!?
Playing fifa online is a bit laggy. If I make these changes you mentioned will it def help ? I noticed playing via my personal hotspot on my phone is laggy for fifa but fine for non online games e.g. Spiderman 2.
Mine works fine most of the time depending on WiFi congestion when the whole family is at home it can be a nightmare. Sometimes the portal just disconnects for no reason and I have to reconnect which is pretty annoying
Hey if you didn't notice you can use your PlayStation 5 and use the Wi-Fi put it on 5G connection and after that reconnect your PlayStation portable to your PS5 and your connection will be fine make sure your PS5 is on line cable so you'll be beautiful with your connection😂
HDCP is “high-bandwidth digital copyright/content protection.” It prevents you from being able to screen record your PS5 with something like an Elgato capture card so that people can't pirate things from video streaming services such as Netflix, so if your not recording gameplay with an Elgato or similar device you can switch it off no problem
Pro tip to save battery: turn display brightness down! 😂 I'm so sick of videos constantly mentioning this. If you can't even think of that most basic obvious setting, then how can you even figure out how to turn your portal on? 😂😂😂😂
Got the Bluetooth dongle, got it paired..... Delay in audio to what's on the screen is awful. Absolutely unplayable. Looks like Sony have us over a barrel with their own solution 😭
1gb virgin media - runs about 500 down and 80 up. Have extenders but everthign is just about wired. on a good channel with great signal and not to crowded. tried ipos 5 un plugged from the tv etc...still bloody awful pixels and noticabee stutter honestly terrrible, spent more time tinkering with router settings than playing the portal.
Resolution on the ps5 has zero effect on the portal as the portal renders in its own resolution. Just band split your router and use 5ghz.. should need anything else at all to take full advantage of the portal
I still don't understand what problem the PS Portal solves. You need a Wi-Fi connection to play it, it is completely unstable on a mobile hotspot. So if you have access to the Wi-Fi connection, why not just play your PS5 console. Dumb product.
@purepsx if this thing was stable with a mobile hotspot I would have bought it immediately. I could use it on my boat, while camping, on my break it work, but it doesn't have this capacity. So what problem does it solve? I'm at home or at a friend's house, I have a Wi-Fi connection, there's flatscreens in multiple rooms... Why buy/use this product when I can just take my console to a different room?

I just want a Bitrate setting for the next firmware update
That would be nice! Would you also like to see them enable cloud gaming streaming?
Turned off HDCP really help !
Found out first hand to disable 120hz on supported games. COD Cold War for example appears "stuttery" on the portal if it's set for 120hz. The Portal maxes out at 60hz anyway, and you can turn on RT as a bonus.
Good call! I enjoy Cold War zombies on my portal! What do you play on it?
@@purepsxI do to but when it gets intense it lags. Sometimes I Evan get the poor connection icon. I’m hard wired and only 4 meters away. Maybe those bits you’ve mentioned can help

Great video!!!
Thanks fam! Will you be trying out any of the tips from the video?
@@purepsx of course, I don’t think the portals potential has been reached
@@purepsx I also purchased the dongle you recommended
I don't think you understand it is remote play...
Disable HDCP and set resolution to 1080p and I have see good results
Brilliant!! What games have you been playing in your portal?
@@purepsx I have finished howgarts legacy and now god of war ragnarok
I do think bluetooth will be enabled and cloud gaming hopefully
I’m not sure if it even has a Bluetooth chip but that would be cool if it did , I think they will definitely enable cloud play tho as it seems capabale of that, maybe once they have sold enough ps5 consoles they will turn that on! Did you pick up a PlayStation portal!?
Wow Lad thank you !
No problem 👍 Happy to help! What games are you playing on your portal?
My first unit had a loose right stick. Returned. My second unit vibration doesn't do anything but makes a little rumble and noise. This happens only on Cloud Gaming Beta however. While streaming games directly from PS5 the vibration feels normal. Either PS5 is telling Portal to do a stronger vibration and it makes it feel normal or its just broken. My luck is terrible it seems. Been asking everywhere and nobody has the same issue.
Great video.
Glad you enjoyed it! Did you get a PlayStation portal? How are you finding it?
@@purepsx yes I do. Been having it for 3 days now. Your video helped me much. Thank you! So far I love this product. Just wish Sony allows to view or stream video from RUclips on it.
Subbed because I see and respect the physical copy of DriveClub 🎉 🚗 😊
Awesome! Thank you! Such a great game! Did you play Drive club back in the day!? Shame it didn’t get the love it deserved in my opinion!
Yes, DriveClub was awesome!!
Could you try out a movie DVD on the ps5 and seeing how well the playstation portal handles it ?
It doesnt work tried that it, cant get on youtube or any media apps on the portalal either which is a bit of a let down
hopefully coming soon this is redic cant even remote watch any my apps on playstation what a waste of money i would love to watch youtube and be able to game too@@Addz98
Does the wifi extender plug in really help? I can’t run a Ethernet cable from my router to ps5 and I’m looking for best solution
It’s your next best bet to Ethernet cable from routers you get a good one 👌 how are you finding your portal?
i just did this yesterday and its a million times better. very smooth gameplay.

excellent advice. thank you. PR🇵🇷👋🏽💪🏽
Glad it was helpful! What games are you playing on your PlayStation portal?
@@purepsx MWZ3 & RDR2 (campaign mode).
is there a possibility that through an update Sony can turn the Portal into a handheld?
Not likely, one update I do think may happen is cloud gaming being enabled as there’s no reason it can’t do that!
What update would you like to see from Sony on the portal?
It would lose out on ps5 sales. Why would sony do that? 😂😂😂
Where do you get those connecter plugins?
can you play with PS5 portal whilst the console is in rest mode?
Yeah 👍 are you getting a portal!?
@@mt2r-musicmaybe it’s a bad device. I haven’t had any issues playing any games as long as the WiFi is adequate.
The portal isn’t for shooters , I play competitive and am ranked in Call of Duty , I only play story driven games on the portal
@@erickpenaloza1I can't seem to find where anyone asked you about your call of duty ranking. Super virgin flex
Pick up the fastest gen 4 m.2 ssd you can get. Mine can read 7400mb/s and right 6800mb/s.
Here’s the best tip ya will hear all day…get a steam deck and get chikai now you can play your ps5 on the go AND play games offline
haha nice! what model of steam deck do you have? i fancy the special Oled see through one but they dont sell it in the UK :(
Its dual sense controller with a screen point blank.
Did you get it fixed? If not I’d return it for another device
I had that problem when I had the ps5 connected to the wifi wirelessly but had the ethernet cable plugged in too. Disconnecting the ethernet helped me out. Hope it helps you if you still need it. Don't know why that worked but it did.
Instead of changing your screen setting to 1080p could you just do automatic and disconnect the hdmi?
not sure if that has the same effect
A lot of people are play FPS games but this isn’t for that . This is for story driven games
Totally agree! Have you got a PlayStation portal?
@@purepsx yes I have one !! I have mid range internet , not the best but not the worst . It amazes me that people really try to play competitive FPS games on this and complain , they also bash it . I take FPS games serious and I have a pc for that .
@@purepsx love mine tho , wouldn’t trade it for anything else . I been playing God of War and Spider-Man 2 . Amazing
FPS games play just fine, on the same home network anyway. If away from home it's not advisable imo, but that's with any fast paced games anyway. Like Spiderman 2 etc.
I do play pretty well on cod tbh while using this. But I’m a cod casual to be fair
I had no idea you could split the network to use either 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz. I'm using an Ethernet cable so I don't need to so that but I have just in case I stop using an ethernet cable.
PS5 doesn't switch to ethernet as PC, you have connect manually after plugging cable
Been playing about 5 hours on Gran Turismo myself zero issues
I thought the portal only has 2.4ghz? And I heard a lot of people are saying bluetooth adapter also has lag?
@purepsx can the hdmi be removed tv rather than back of ps5
I’m not sure if that makes a difference, I’d imagine from the ps5 would be best as the device will probably know there’s no hdmi attacked unlike if you have it in the console it will still try and send the signal to the cable even if it’s plugged in or not
When I unplug the HDMI, my portal or Remote Play App on my phone doesn’t turn on/connect…am I missing a step? Only connects when HDMI is connected
thats weird, not sure maybe another setting needs changed? Did you get it working?
@@purepsx unfortunately no :( I just have the HDMI setting off
Where sony have dropped the ball with this is that it won't stream the ps3 games. This is a big loss for me. Hopefully an update will allow this and RUclips functionality.
FYI. Releasing the hdmi makes absolutely no difference. I've tested it at work on a 65mb connection.😊
Awesome what future updates would you like to see come to the portal?
@purepsx there isn't an awful lot more it can do with it being a streaming only device. It would be nice of it could just run the ps3 streaming side of ps plus along with being able to run RUclips and Netflix. Yes I know there is a workaround to get Google running but it's not ideal.
My internet isnt the best, i use an ethanet cable but i can play cod small maps with no real issues. I noticed lag once.. and that was when the misses was downloading a game to her switch whilst the kids were on the tablets... but, when theyre just on tablets or their ps5 i have no issues playing cod

Yes as long as your internet connection is good enough which you are connecting too at your destination and your ps5 is configured correctly in rest mode
Where do you get unplugging the hdmi makes it run better? Like what facts, trying to figure that out
Doesn’t make sense does it!? I know, loads of comments on RUclips and Reddit, maybe the machine isn’t outputting to hdmi when it’s not plugged in or something? Seems to make a big difference for some people! How are you finding the PlayStation portal so far!?

Also Scottish so, of course, it's "rooter". 🙂
haha this is the way
How about a webbrowser to login to hotel wifis?
What does HDCP do?
HDCP is “high-bandwidth digital copyright/content protection.” It prevents you from being able to screen record your PS5 with something like an Elgato capture card so that people can't pirate things from video streaming services such as Netflix, so if your not recording gameplay with an Elgato or similar device you can switch it off no problem

Pro tip to save battery: turn display brightness down! 😂 I'm so sick of videos constantly mentioning this. If you can't even think of that most basic obvious setting, then how can you even figure out how to turn your portal on? 😂😂😂😂
It's simple. Don't buy one if you have poor Internet, a poor router and don't have your ps5 hard wired.
What games have you been enjoying playing on your portal?
Loads. A bit of GT7 sofa surfing. Avatar. Robocop. It's a great bit of kit if you have the setup to get the best out of it.
Got the Bluetooth dongle, got it paired..... Delay in audio to what's on the screen is awful. Absolutely unplayable. Looks like Sony have us over a barrel with their own solution 😭
Is it worth it

Amazing! Any future games your looking forward to playing on your portal!?
I playing o online games and it’s perfectly fine so I don’t know what you’re talking bout
Awesome!! What games have you been playing on your portal?
Rooter vs ROUTER
Wall sockets, or powerlines, are probably worse than using wifi of the ps5
1gb virgin media - runs about 500 down and 80 up. Have extenders but everthign is just about wired. on a good channel with great signal and not to crowded. tried ipos 5 un plugged from the tv etc...still bloody awful pixels and noticabee stutter honestly terrrible, spent more time tinkering with router settings than playing the portal.
Tbh shouldn't matter if u have a ps plus should be able to play it with all ur games 😌 like the ps5. besides a paywall.
Resolution on the ps5 has zero effect on the portal as the portal renders in its own resolution.
Just band split your router and use 5ghz.. should need anything else at all to take full advantage of the portal
How are you finding your PlayStation portal?
There is no setting on portal whatsoever problem u have is with ur ps5 not ur portal because u playing from PlayStation 5

I still don't understand what problem the PS Portal solves. You need a Wi-Fi connection to play it, it is completely unstable on a mobile hotspot. So if you have access to the Wi-Fi connection, why not just play your PS5 console. Dumb product.
you are clearly not the target for the product if you dontn understand what problem it solves, which is cool, just not for you
@purepsx if this thing was stable with a mobile hotspot I would have bought it immediately.
