Wow man I cannot express how much you helped me I’m a night shift janitor after I get my work done I got 2 hours to kill I bought my portal today and was ready to return it due to lag and pixelation once I changed the resolution when I got home it immediately was fixed and I’m using cellular data your a life saver❤
Everything in this video is what you’ll need to get the max/best experience on the portal. I researched everything and basically everything he shows you here is what I found works best- if you are not satisfied after that then the portal is not for you. I love this thing!
Here a tip, if you often get freezes/studders on the Portal. Go to your Network setup name on PS5, press options on it and switch your mtu to manual. Then lower it slightly from 1473 from the default 1500. You get less data drops, which means less freezes and audio cuts. It makes the experience practically FLAWLESS... 😎👍
I never had issues with lag but I did notice some blurryness to the image quality. I reduced the screen output to 1080p and turned 120 hz off and the picture is super crisp now.
Probably people already know this but most users say that if you turn off weka up screen option in the settings or just disconnect the ps5 from the monitor or tv altogether, the streaming will improve. I didn’t test that yet because I’m waiting for my PS portal to arrive next week
@@Daniel97926 I did. honestly for me was unplayable. ive tried H:FW an TLOU part 1 and there was to much lag even with all the optimization I could find on reddit and such. also I have a pretty stable 1gb FTTH
@@Daniel97926 sorry I'm late. I did test it. you can see my comment above. Long story short I refund it. it really doesn't work, at lest for my standards of gaming
I have my ps5 hard wired. 900 down, 200 up, 5Ghz and my ps5 is in the same room as me yet I can’t play more than 10 minutes without it lagging. It’s ridiculous. How does it work for people with slower WiFi
How was it, any improvement? I bought mine last week and has been having fun playing it at home and at work. I did encounter an issue at work, i sometimes can't detect 5ghz wifi or hotspot and can only connect to 2.4ghz. I thought it was a hardware issue, but when i was in transit back home, it suddenly connected ro my phones hotspot (which is 5ghz), even at home i was able to connect on my wifi 5ghz no problem.
those are just fanboys telling you to buy this. I've bought one , have a stable 1gB FTTH connected directly to my Ps5 and s Switch in my bedroom also wired to my rooter/modem with a wifi extender also wired to that. they are both Fritzbox with are among the best you can get. Also did all the fixes an tricks I could find on reddit/internet. The thing just doesn't work properly. I had lag or frameratedrops all the time. TLOU1 and H:FW were unplayable for me. Also the haptic feedback and triggers are way too low on the Portal and the volume is ridiculously low without headphones.i really hoped it worked but this it isn't worth it at all. Should have listened to DF. thank god they refunded me
@@EnaTenkiyoGamer lol you are literally protecting a company that released a broken item. i bought my portal 2 month ago and i can't use it in fast paced games. my wifi is good for quest 3 pcvr gaming, but not ps portal 1080p60hz?
This product might not be for everyone, but it's definitely a fantastic purchase, especially for gamer dads. If you're a father who loves gaming but struggles to find time to play while managing family life, this device could be a game-changer. A good friend of mine, who has young kids, recently got his hands on it and absolutely loved it. He was thrilled because now he can enjoy his favorite games without needing to turn on the TV, which makes it a lot easier to sneak in some gaming time while the kids are around or the TV is occupied. It's a perfect solution for dads who want to balance family time with their gaming hobbies.
Absolutely! It really is a great way for gamer dads to find that perfect balance between family time and gaming. Glad to hear your friend is enjoying it!
But if I change all these settings I am doing it on my PS5 right? When I go back to TV mode, then I would have to switch everything again. This is stupid
Yeah, I get it. Like some people have said it would be great if the console had a "portal mode" that would do all of that when you connected to it and reverted when you disconnected. It looks like Sony is adding features with the updates so maybe that's something they can add in future
@@Orzly Thank you for confirmation kind sir. Sometimes I am too tired to turn ON the tv and would just want to sit somewhere else and play, but I am not changing settings for my OLED tv just to do this. I guess we will se with future updates. Thanks once more
Thanks for de video just one question , after lowering the resolution on the ps5 to 1080p and deactivating the 120hz mode should be activated again when playing on the TV?
I never had any issues right out the box and I used it the most of the time away from home. I hadn’t used it in about a month and yesterday it seemed to not connect well. Could it be the firmware update you were talking about? I haven’t done anything differently. I still have Ethernet connected and use my mobile unlimited hotspot as before
Hmm, that's a strange one. For me, the updates have been an improvement. Could your home network have been congested? Like if someone was downloading something or watching Netflix
Lol i feel like the 60fps is not working :( planning to sell mine. Man i miss 60 fps on gaming, planning to buy monitor. Since i cant use the portal outside :(
Thanks bro i almost sell my portal coz of lag issues, ps5 not wired btw i only changed the video output to 1080 and disabled 120hz it is now smooth as butter
i bought a ps portal yesterday and i either get the error something went wrong or someone else is connected to remote play. when i do connect i lose connection
Mine just lags back I have no issues pc gaming or ps5 gaming just with the ps portal Lmaoo it’s trash tbh glad I didn’t waste the money and it was a gift
Thing I’ll say is …. Ignore the advice that 15 mbs is enough to run this thing. Mine is 70mbs and that’s the fastest I can get where I live and that’s slow as far as I’m concerned. No way will you get a usable experience at 15 mbs you got no chance.
"I can sit up on a sofa and relax" and what is the point of ps5 then? I never had no issues not being able to relax at home with my ps5 alone, no need to buy another handheld for that. I want a handheld console to work out of home and that it doesn't do well.
Lowering the resolution on your console makes no difference to the portal when you're using remote Play it's streaming at 1080p regardless of your resolution it also doesn't matter if you use performance or quality on the games you're playing The only thing that matters is your internet connection
Mine lags even with the Ethernet connected to the ps5. There have been a FEW times where 2K played FLAWLESSLY ….i have no idea why it works like 50% of the time.

Sony need to have a setting we can turn on, which optimises the portal. Like changing output to 1080p and setting the correct frame rate.
Or an automatic “portal mode “ that does just that when it detects remote play
