  • This short 10 minute yoga class focuses on yoga for the neck, shoulders and upper back. The stress of everyday life and poor posture gets stored in the neck and shoulders. This therapeutic sequence will help the body to release this stored tension and start to train the muscles that support your posture so that the pain doesn't come back. With this yoga class you'll learn to relieve tension and discomfort and increase range of motion at the same time This is a great way to give back to your body and care for yourself.
    Bookmark and save this practice and repeat for the best results in addressing areas of built-up stress. Don't expect it all to change with one session. Regular practice will help these stressed out areas to release tension.

    This is going to be great to go back to on days where I have to drive long distances, sit at the computer, endure the news, or work on the wheel. I love that it includes the eye exercise that has been the trick for me to get back into a relaxed state. I feel that I’m morphing from a walking stiff neck back into a whole person with a body. I appreciate these short videos for days when I’m doing my own practice, or when I’d like a little tune-up before bed. Thanks!!

    Hi Tim, what a backdrop stunning view you have! Where is that if you don’t mind asking? It makes you want to do yoga even if you don’t feel like it! Simply stunning in all the seasons I believe. Could you please guide me to beginner videos you got ( at the very low beginner stage in yoga or stretching) so I can build my strength up. I get intimidated by the complexity of some exercises especially in yoga. Thank you for that awesome stretching exercises, and thank you for making us enjoy that view too.🙏 a fan from Melbourne 😊

    This was fantastic thank you Tim. First time for me when rolling the neck back that I learned to do it without hinging and instead use the posture of my back to support. I felt my core engaged to support my neck tilting back and as a result the neck tilted back was an enjoyable position instead of a strain. Amazing! 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽

    Hi Tim. I maybe pinched a nerve in my neck such that I have been suffering with pain for weeks. Doing your other yoga (e.g. the 30 challenge), I notice that poses to use/tense the neck muscles tend to help more with flexibility/mobility and easing the pain than the stretches. For example, the pose where you bring the feet up into a 90 degree angle and then back behind (plow pose) and then up into shoulder stand is in many ways a lot more effective (I do not have tight shoulders). I wonder, therefore, if you could do a neck video incorporating more tensing/using the neck and shoulder and upper back muscles (gently) as the isometric to the stretching. Thanks!

      Hey Julia, I’m so glad to hear that. Oh gnarly, sounds like you might be a neck breather, (hence the chronic neck pain) and need to learn to breath diaphragmatically. I go over this on the conscious movement course (CMC) in the pranayama/ breathwork section. If you're not signed up for the Conscious Movement Community (CMC) yet, go to yogawithtim.mykajabi.com to get started.

    Thanks Tim! I loved the neck stretches but couldn’t sit in the position for more than 5 minutes. My lower back wasn’t strong enough I think? You have tons of back videos but I’m not sure where to start. Any recommendations? Thanks!

      Hi, Beth. That makes sense. With more practice, it will get better. Any of the back videos are great to start with : )

    this was wonderful Tim, thank you. Any thoughts on why I might be feeling neck tightness/pain when I inhale from my diaphragm? Is it because I'm still holding tension in my neck without realizing it?

    • @yogawithtim
      @yogawithtim  2 года назад +1

      You’re welcome, Laura. Sounds like that area is too gripped up to allow you a diaphragmatic breath. Practice on your back and see if it’s any better.

    Very cool short video for stiff neck and shoulders. It’s my first time to do the elbow out and elbow in exercise at the beginning of the session. I felt it also helped to massage the outer lines of my eyes. I also like the big glass window with background nature. Where is it in CA? ❤

      This one's not in So Cal. It’s a vineyard in Northern Mexico where they cultivate a world class wine. You can check out the website of the place where I film. Here’s the site: Lunadesolbaja.com

    Tim, I know this may be asking a lot but I had a horse accident about 6 months ago and have been going through recovery. I used to be a high intermediate yoga student but now due to my accident I have lost my mobility and strength in my core, back, arms, and legs. So pretty much everywhere. Do you have a specific challenge or a few videos that could help me to regain what I lost. I’m willing to take the time and work on it even if it takes me months to get back to where I used to be. My chiropractor has been assisting my recovery and has suggested doing the basics of yoga. This would mean a lot. Thank you!

    • @yogawithtim
      @yogawithtim  2 года назад +1

      I’m so sorry to hear that. I would recommend starting with the basics even though you’re an intermediate student. Start with the beginner course, then do a 30 day challenge then start the “what’s next” CMC course.

    Thanks Tim, my neck and upper back have been tight for some time and this is exactly what I need. It felt great, but I know getting rid of this tension will be a bit of a journey for me. A question, would it be ok to do this 10 minute session each day maybe as a warm up to get the krinks out in the morning and then my normal yoga practice later in the day? Also is this added to the Conscious Movement Community so I can find it there? Thanks for everything, Stef.

      @yogawithtim  2 года назад

      Sure! That would be just fine. Stacy puts the youtube videos into the “ad free” section on the CMC. I’ll check right now to make sure she got it in there.

      Yes, of course it can. I'd recommend starting with my beginner course to learn how to change your posture best and then keep up with my course. I bet in a few months you see a huge difference.
