    I’ve had neck issues for years and also did daily PT. I would have extreme neck pain and burning twice a week for over a decade. I’ve used Biofreeze and Salonpas Patches for relief. My BFF sent me this video on a whim. Since practicing yoga using the video every morning, my neck pain is nearly diminished. It’s truly been life changing. Typically, I don’t post comments, but I wanted to thank Adrienne for changing the quality of my life.

I use proper body mechanics but always have tightness and discomfort in my wrists shoulders and hands. I seek relief from daily yoga and jacuzzi therapy. This video was the most relief for that upper body tightness and the pinching muscles feeling. Adrianne helps me to be more fluid. 🙏🏻❤️🧘‍♀️ ALWAYS FEELING THE LOVE HERE

    Wow... that was my first time ever doing yoga stuff. It felt really good... I’m kinda shaking now lol my name is Joseph, I’m a disabled Iraq war veteran a father of two and coming on two years since my wife passed away. I’ve been in a very dark place to say the least. I’m slowly coming out of it and have been looking for natural was to deal with all my physical and emotional pain. So happy to have found you sharing your knowledge of yoga, I could never afford to have a private lesson. I will be doing a lot of your lessons that deal with weight, back and neck pain to start with . Thank you again, I really enjoyed it. Keep up the amazing job 💜

    • @mariekejee18
      @mariekejee18 4 года назад +28

      @@Dr.T-Bomb I'm pretty sure the stretches you're referring to are neck rolls, where you roll your head horizontally across your neck (i.e. chin touching chest, shoulder, back of head touching back, shoulder), if I'm not mistaken. Adriene's "rolls" are vertical, meaning if you don't overdo it, it shouldn't cause the hyperextension in the neck that should be avoided. If you're however referring to something else, I'd love to know!

    • @Dr.T-Bomb
      @Dr.T-Bomb 4 года назад +17

      @@mariekejee18 Thanks for the informative reply! I haven't seen it narrowed down that much. The typical explanation I've come across is that any combination of rolling and bending/flexion/extension of the neck compromises the C-spine and will significantly increase wear on those delicate joints. Intuitively it makes sense-there is such a high degree of mobility in that part of the spine that it would be more susceptible to repetitive wear in loaded and stretched positions (and rolling the head is basically just grinding away at these joints). Whether all of that has been proven beyond doubt in epidemiological and controlled studies I wouldn't know and I'm not about to dig into all the literature to check-happy to defer to the experts on this one. Just wanted to make a PSA for those that would like to check for themselves.

    This is going to sound so silly, but I started crying in the middle of the video and had to pause. My neck has been a huge issue for weeks, I even had to have someone come in and take over my shift at work because I strained it which made it worse on top of that and I had to literally just lay in bed for a few days. I hadn't done your videos in a while and started doing them again last Monday. Today, in the middle of yoga, I realize my neck didn't hurt for the first time in about three weeks and most likely it's thanks to getting back to stretching with your videos every morning. Just goes to show that this is a must do for everyone. It helps you from straining your body throughout the day by even the simplest of movements which is what happens to me all the time. Time to go back to telling people Im busy in the morning doing sessions with my trainer. You're doing awesome work. ♥

      So great. I have chronic neck pain too and this video really helped me. I don't know if you've been through something like whiplash, which is what happened to me. Even low-speed collisions (30mph or less) can cause a lot of damage ... for me, the pain has been life altering, so I feel you, my friend!! Yoga helps me a ton, but I really have to use caution ... but I also find neck stabilization exercises to be super helpful. Also grateful for the relief in this video, Adriene!! Namaste

      It's not silly. A friend of mine is a yoga instructor and she has been recommending to me that I do yoga to help my heart and my body. I can't afford yoga classes right now, so I decided to search for a nice yoga video to help with my neck and back pain (I'm a server/bartender lots of work on my feet). I started tearing up in the middle of this very simple short video and a little afterwards too. I instantly felt relief in my body after this, and I will definitely continue to watch her videos. They seem really straight forward, easy to follow without any extra vlogger nonsense, and her voice is really soothing. Thank you Adriene.

    Sitting on the mat, I was struck by sorrow. In these times of solitude, Adriene is actually the person I see the most. I wake up to her voice every morning. I go to her when I am desperate for relief, and whether I'm feeling joy or pain. She has become so important in the lives of so many. I mourn, in a bittersweet way, that we can't all link hands and extend this love fully to one another. We go through our experience alone. It's sad, but it's also a wonderful mystery, life is. When I lay on my mat, I can feel the weight of my body pulling down and the support of the floor taking up that weight, sending it back to me. I notice the places I am tense and where I'm at ease. I feel my chest expand with breath. Miraculously, I'm alive :) And I know that others also bear the weight, the counterweight, the expansion, the contraction, the pain, the pleasure, and everything else. I'm grateful for many reasons to Adriene: teacher, friend, and mother of this community.

But then, sitting on my mat, I just started. Breathing, "hearing" Adriene voice inside my head. I did all the tings I remembered, and for the first time I managed to do a yoga session all by my myself! Proud! I have been doing daily yoga for 2,5 years, and today I realized I really have a vocabulary internalized. Although I prefer doing yoga with the videos, this was a nice experience. I must have something else because it didnt work for me.
      I am plagued with neck pain most days, and it can stay for many days in a row. (Of course it triggers headaches so everything above the shoulders hurr, jaws, eyes, whole head, whole neck.)
      I have to sleep a certain way or else.
      I have to sit a certain way.
      Cant skip meal or not drink enough else headache.
      I massage. Put a hot pad. (Headche pills usually dont work either)
      Right now it's so bad on my left side only. Nothing works and I know it can last all night too, until waking up with it the next morning.
      I saw someone who tested my neck, nothing wrong there my movement and jaw seems ok according to him.
      It controls my life along with other health stuff I have.
      I cant sit on my couch and lay the back of my head (not the neck) on something, because after 2 minutes it's uncomfortable.

      @LouBLou Yes, I'm here, my beloved yogi friend. Aww, pace yourself. It will take time to heal. Be kind to your body. Consume lots of healthy nutrients. Are you familiar with the herb 🌿 sorrel? It's great in fiber and the immune system. My mother, as you already know, is a cancer survivor, and she consumed plenty of sorrel juice during recovery. Juicing will help you. I am well. I just completed a 30-day food fast, and I am on the tale end of a cold. Please accept my deepest condolences regarding your best friends elevation. Do you mind sharing what happened? My friend was who I cared for that was quadriplegic and sadly he was let down by the medical system. He had been complaining for almost 2 years of feeling like something was stuck in the back of his throat and so we'd spent that time trying to persuade them to put a camera down as he felt it was a physical thing. They just kept telling him to eat soft foods. Unfortunately, I hadn't been there to chase it up so I don't know what happened with the care agency following up but I got a call around midnight one night from a and e doctor saying he was vomiting copious amounts of blood, they were suspecting internal bleeding and could I go asap as they didn't expect him to make it through the night. Devastatingly I was covid positive so unable to go and they rang an hour later to say he'd gone. The coroner concluded it was massive internal heaomarrage due to erosion of the oesophagus. The main symptom of that is pain on swallowing and feeling like something is stuck in the throat. It is also very common in someone taking the meds he was so I'm currently trying very hard to not be so angry that it slows my own recovery with the negativity. I'm trying to remind myself that everything happens for a reason, whether we know that reason or not 🙏💞

Please accept countless love and light! ✨️ 🙏🏿 Yes, everything happens for a reason, and the medical system definitely failed your dear friend. I do recall you talking about him all the time. It's an unfortunate truth that some doctors will ignore signs. I, too, am a victim of this medical industry as you already know my story. We must heal thy self and be proactive when we know something strange is happening to our bodies. 🙏🏿 That must be frustrating to eat from a feeding tube. Let us focus on the positive outcome of being cancer free. This challenge will pass, and energy is forever; therefore, your friend will always live in your heart. Now, he is pain-free living his best life in the next realm. Keep your head up! 🦋♥️🦋🤗

    At one point I can hear Adrienne's heartbeat and I really love that for some reason. She's like the ASMR OG or something. But with heartbeats and deep breaths.

    Adriene! I cannot tell you what a blessing you've been to me! I've struggled for my entire adult life to come into a healthful routine and your videos have been huge for me! I have come from feeling almost dead all the way through to touching on my vibrancy again. I am so grateful for you and what you do. Thank you for sharing your light with the world!!
    Blessings!!

    Practicing with y'all from Greenville, South Carolina, USA. I have practiced yoga since 2002, but am recovering from a hamstring attachment injury. This 30 day challenge is a wonderful way for me to ease back in and gain some confidence! Thank you, A&B!

    I’ve saved this one as I know it will be used frequently, a perfect practice to fit in whenever my neck and shoulders feel tight.

    I just stumbled on this because I was fighting a panic attack and my neck and back were aching so I googled yoga for upper back. The cadence and vibe of your voice and this whole video calmed me and helped me feel grounded. It’s 4 years after you posted but thank you whether you ever see this or not. Namaste.

    Bridge Day 3. 122 in a row. Just realized I am at 1/3 of a year without missing a day! I enjoyed this shorter practice. My body has been tired the last three days since I cut out my evening coffee. Always feel better after YWA though! 🙏💜
    Let's keep going Breath crew!

    Oct 2024- I have had neck pain most of my life. I try to forget about it but every 6 months it’s unbearable. I come back to this and it’s a lifesaver! Now I just need to get back to it daily. I promise it works!

    As a classical violinist, these stretches have been so useful in reducing the amount of pain and tension I feel after I practice. Much love to you, Adriene ❤🎻

    Adrienne and Bejie are a bright spot in our morning routine! Recently retired, sold our home and moved to a different state was very stressful and hard on the mind and body. Our oldest son sent us Adrienes link to do the 30 day Yoga challenge and we have kept on going. Thank you Adrienne for your expertise with a touch of humor, humility and love. ❤️

    I sit and work on laptop all day at office. I was experiencing so much pain and rigidity in my neck and shoulder that i couldn't sleep last night. Then i had this urge to get shoulder neck massage but didn't want to spend so much. Couldn't take the pain anymore so i thought why not do a bit of stretching and looked up "neck shoulder stress relief" on RUclips and found this video. Within the first few minutes of doing the poses, i was literally crying out because of the pain and the relief i was feeling. I was crying tears of relief. Thank you and bless you
