I have the sprint booster and love it. I think Rob brings up a good point regardless of which you get it's definitely a huge improvement for the Tacoma period.

Sprint booster for the win. Been using it since 2020. Small and discreet. Also has an option to lock the accelerator petal when away from your vehicle.
I purchased a SB around a year ago but it became a shelf object when I first tried to install (the tight space was difficult). I decided that it was time. Holy mackerel! This is a fantastic upgrade. So much performance and a very small simple controller. I can’t imagine someone needing to change the modes once you find your happy place.
Follow-up: After driving a good while with SB installed, I honestly cannot imagine driving without out it! I live in the city and merging into traffic and getting away from obvious time eating or safety problem situations has been a boon. I’ve settled on Sport 4 which matches my needs. Once set, unplug the controller and enjoy. Both products are bound to be helpful but I can only speak for Sprint Booster Version 3. Seriously, look into getting one of these devices.
Just installed the D3performance tuner. It really helped out my trucks shift points. They offer a 30 day money back guarantee. It comes with a pre loaded module with six pre sets. You can also set up a custom tune if you want to.
For me, I like the Sprint Booster because it is smaller and discreet. Not nearly as noticeable when prying eyes are looking in the window.

I agree 100 percent the Sprint booster is much more discrete. You can mount it on a single pop out button on the left of the steering wheel on a 4Runner. I hate the size of the Pedal Commander. I do not like the look at all.
@@stevemott4603 I totally agree. I have both units & have tested them thoroughly. I bought the PC first (I had never heard of the Sprint Booster at that time). I never liked the looks of the PC, IMHO it is a clunky ugly looking unit. Granted, you can hide it & completely control it from your phone but I really wanted a small discrete control that I could integrate into my dash so it looks like a factory install, I had used the PC for a month or so & it worked fantastic, but having that big ugly controller stuck to my dash looked terrible IMHO & I was researching other options. As soon as I saw the Sprint Booster, I knew it was EXACTLY what I was looking for. I bought one & it does exactly what I wanted. The tiny control head works fantastic & looks almost factory. Instead of the ugly PC controller that was obviously an aftermarket piece just stuck to the dash with 3M tape, the SB control is so small most people won't even notice it & those that do will wonder if it was a factory option. After reading/researching/watching a ton of videos etc. I came to realize that the Sprint Booster was the very first product of its kind to do this, all the other units that have come out since then where just copies of the original. To me, between these two products, the SB is the clear winner hands down. I have no agenda here, I paid full price for both products & I am simply hoping to help people make a decision on the plus/minus benefit's of two products that in the end achieve the same result but go about it in two completely different ways.
@@RobMotive exactly. These negative doubter comments ALWAYS come from posters that have no experience with the actual product. I was one of those posters & posted negative comments right along with all the other doubters . Then somebody sent me a Pedal Commander to try out. I absolutely loved the thing, & since then I also bought a Sprint Booster simply to compare the two. I like the Booster better because the PC is so much better looking IMHO.
That was the first mod I did on my Tacoma before lifting and gearing great purchase
Just found this video. Great info!. The one remaining question I have is about gear hunting. Driving on highways in mountainous terrain my 18 TRD OR 4x4 almost constantly hunts for gears. Does the device help at all. If not I guess I will go for a tune - probably KD-Max. TIA.

Doesn't create power or extra power, it tricks the amount of fuel and the throttle position sensor of the ecu, for faster acceleration. All motors are capable of a higher horsepower. Problem is, they are all restricted for safety and longevity....
I have watched videos and read comments and remained skeptical about the effectiveness of throttle controllers. I was so hesitant, but still curious, that I decided to buy a cheap "no-name" model and try it. Wow. I am stunned at how much better it is to drive my Tacoma now. I think what makes is so remarkable is not so much about the truck performance--it is driver experience. It may not make your truck drive any faster, but it sure does make it more pleasant to drive. I am sold. So much so, that I am now buying a Pedal Commander to have the best for my truck. Thanks

just got mine and I love it in my 2016. regardless of what mode im in my tranny shifts at like 5-6000 Rpm when I step on it. is this normal? my truck is lifted on 32s...

I got online to find your old link for the sprint booster so I could order one and just the day before you posted this video!! I ordered the Pedal commander (your link) I just installed it 30 minutes ago and test drove. I was worried about my manual transmission off roading because of the horrible lag in first gear. NOT ANY MORE!!!!!!! PERFECT PERFECT PERFECT IS ALL I CAN SAY!!!!

Honestly I went with a sprint booster because it does the same thing but has a smaller more discreet interface. I have it in my Mercedes and a big old wonky Blinky control unit would look like crap. The sprint booster controller mounted very nicely right next to my sport comfort button and you don't really notice it's there.

The eco mode does work. I normally got 15 mpg on my work drive but i used echo today and got 17.4 mpg. Its a noticeable saving for sure

Ok Rob I like the location of the unit on your dash but my 2022 is a push button start. Before buying the PC ( which my dealer recommended) where would be another possible location for the unit?

Anyone have issue with pedal sensitivity at a slow roll? On City +2, the pedal commander bucks like a bronco with a small press of the pedal.

Welp, the SB cost me $320.00 and I bought it, at your recommendation. The SB works as advertised and I'm satisfied with it. Spending another 300 bucks or so for the next tech wonder is not financially sound. If my SB goes out after the warranty ends then I'll consider the P Cdr! I have had zero problems. Probably someone trying to discredit the unit hoping to scare people in another direction. The trolls will try anything. I had one recently trying to spam multiple videos on my channel to advertise another product.

Riddle me this. I have the sprint booster. I set it and forget it. I don’t adjust it for any reason. Would the pedal commander offer me anything worth spending another $200? I would not display it or consider changing the settings.

You do not have to be in park. However, you should be stopped with your foot off the accelerator. I believe all are the same.
I have to admit, I am genuinely surprised. From what I have seen, clearly, the pedal commander simply increases actual throttle input vs how much you are pressing it, where as idrive retains the same relative curve to keep the accelerator "levels" as accurate as they were from factory, but it simply removes the lag to get TO the point of where you are pressing the pedal. So half throttle is still half throttle with the idrive, it just gets there instantly, even in the most extreme setting. Pedal commander higher settings are actually pushing a lot more throttle that doesn't sync with your actual pedal input position. Maybe it reduces lag as well and I am misinformed, so if anyone can enlighten me on the technical side?
Sounds like marketing speak to me. Pedal Commander works perfectly and makes the Tacoma what it should be👍
Just installed my PC, Holy shit!! Heck City 1-4 is plenty. Sport 0 maybe 1 is max setting. Sport +4 Is ridiculous!! Rob, what setting did you end up sticking with.
