Hey Rob, I lifted my 2021 Off Road with a TRD Pro suspension. I added Eibach Pro lift springs to front and Icon AAL to the back. I’m running Cooper XLT 285/75/16. The ride is SO much better than it was stock. Day and night difference. It dampens bumps much better, corners better and is more planted to the road then before. Also, the Pro suspension fixes the Taco lean!

Good information, this is the problem folks never take into consideration or I assume so,is whenever you make any changes, bigger tires, wheels it affects the stock components. Have a great day
@@scotmetcalf2745yes you are right but it takes such little work to get it all adjusted in people just don't know what they are doing then wonder why it rides rough haha
I'm thinking in lifting my Chevy Avalanche by two inches. I'm already running 265/75 R16's, they are 31.5" overal but i'm looking at 285/70 R17's which are 33's. So an 3.5" overall lift but I'm wary of the stress on the transmission. both should have the same ride conform due to similar sidewall but potholes should be less noticable.
I have a 2017. Put 285/75 R16s on it. No rubbing whatsoever. Fit fine. Putting a 3 front 2 rear lift on this weekend. Cost 270$. Probably go up to 35s next new set of tires and won’t be a problem.
Rob you are 110% correct with the advice, the TRD concept is focused usually on nubes that don't understand the plus and minus of raising the truck. I think leveling the truck with spacers, in combination with taller tires gives a similar appearance at major cost savings.
Great video, thanks! Any change to the speedometer with those larger tires? My TRD Off-Road comes standard with the 265/70R16 so the 75s would be exactly 1" larger in overall diameter. Just curious if you found the Speed was a tick off?
Great video. I agree 100%. I have a 2020 TRD off road and like the stock 16” wheels. Just had a set of BFG A/T 265/75R 16 KO2s installed. They look great and no noticeable difference in drive quality but they look incredible. Your truck looks great!
Hi I just bought a Toyota Tacoma 2023 4x4. So I like that idea without lifting the truck what is the size of that tire or the biggest with a -10 thanks Justin
Super helpful, just bought the same truck 2021 SR 4x4 used. But it’s wheels tires and step-up are stock and it has grandpa truck look to it. I’ll definitely start here
I just leveled my TRD Offroad and the shocks where upgraded made my ride better. Have the TRD shocks with the TRD leveling kit. Thanks for the info on the tires.
Hi cool man, I love my 18 model but the tires are about wore out. Fixing to put a set of BFG all terrain k20. Mine is a TRDOFF Road. Tell me more about that cool name.
I have a similar setup. Except I have the 4runner trd pro 17in wheels. I believe they're a +4 offset. 265/70r17 k02s. And you're right. It definitely puts the lift on the back burner. Especially on a daily driver. My truck actually rides noticeably better than with the stock tires. It's way less bouncy over bumps. Makes me not want to mess with the suspension for now. And couldn't be happier with the k02s. People say they're terrible on wet roads. But, in the almost 2 years I've had them, I haven't had any issue in all types of rainy conditions. Plus they're fantastic in snow.
Completely new to this but really enjoyed your video and love your setup. Looking to move from Ford Edge to Tacoma. So here's the stupid question (like I said, just learning about this). To get your -10 offset do you buy wheels with that offset or do you add spacers or something else? Thanks for your patience.
Hey Robert! As they say..."No question is stupid"! Ask away! You can go either way actually (to move the wheels/tires out). However, I'd go with a negative offset wheel to achieve the goal👍
Great video Rob! I stayed fairly stock on my 2020 OffRoad and only switched the shocks to Bilestein 5100’s all around. Set the front shocks at 3rd notch for 1.2 lift for level stance. Better than stock now with this set up. Super smooth ride, no lean on curves or nose dive on heavy braking.
Yo I'm looking for some help with a 5100 setup, could use some advice! Bought a set front and rear, front is adjustable 0-2.5, rear is set at 2.5. Looking for just a 1-2" lift max to not have to mess with any cv joints or anything. Also got an AAL, trying to see if I need different rear shocks? Or skip the aal? Confused on how much lift this will actually give.
New Tacoma owner here. I put a shell on and plan to build a platform for storage and camping. Should be about 500-600 lbs maximum with everything installed. I would like to have some support in the rear so my suspension doesn't degrade over time. And I'm not eager to install a whole new suspension. Would your method in the video be my best option?
hey rob I just want to get the look but I don't wanna mess the ride. what's your advice to fit 275/70 R17 BFG KO2’s in a tacoma TRD sport 2023 ? thank you rob.
I just lifted my TRD-Off-road and love but now I need to change the needle bearing bc I have vibes now. I would suggest if you lift your truck with a whole new from and rear suspension that to do either add a leaf or a whole new leaf package so your truck is level.
@@RobMotive Yep you are probably upsetting a lot of oncoming drivers. We have a lot of trucks around here that have been jacked up or bigger tires and their LED headlights are really aimed wrong.
Cool video! I always loved my trucks lifted. But as a contractor and as I get older, I like them stock. Hey, my truck is a 2006 with stock shocks and struts. Can you recommend the BEST shocks and struts for a 2006 Tacoma SR5 4 door (2 wheel drive)???? Thanks!
Thanks Rob , sorry if this is a dumb question but if I just want to load about 1200lb in the back every once in a while, would you recommend the old man emu +330lb leaf springs? It says they add a 2.75” lift , so also some shocks and struts that say they also add around 2.75”? Plus some bigger tires , thanks for the advice on the -10offset rims . Thanks for the video!!
Maybe it’s different with my runner. But the ride is too soft. So I want to make it a little bit more firm a little bit more tight. I’ve been researching that happy middle ground. I’ll probably go one and a half and one. 4 mm offset, 265, 70 17’s. Hopefully I’ll find that spot. I’m looking for. Great video. Good information.
I put bilstein 6112 in front, at 4/3 setting and 5100 struts and shocks on the same truck, mine is a 22 model. It rides great with the 6112's. Better than stock ride. I was surprised .
I've been heavily considering doing this on my 21' Sport, 6112's up front and 5160's in the rear.. I don't really need them, but thought it would put the truck at the perfect height on 265/70 17's. What kind of wheels/tires you rocking? any pics?
Hi Rob, Truly enjoyed your perspectives, Less money, no ride sacrifice, great look. I have a 2020 TRD Offroad LONGBED, 16" stock. Any down sides, or different advice you would offer? Thanks.
5:06 the tire is ~1” taller than stock, so your truck sits half that value higher than before, as the axel is attached to the center of the wheel, not the top of the tire.
I've got a '21 Tacoma TRD Pro with the stock TRD Pro suspension and stock TRD Pro 16" wheels (Gulf coast version of the wheels, which is apparently different from everywhere else but I _think_ the offset is the same at +13mm, about an inch less "pokey-outty" than what Rob has here). I have 265/75R16 Falken Wildpeak AT3 tires on it. They measure just shy of 32" diameter top to ground at 35 PSI with the truck on level ground. They actually DO rub, but ONLY if I go over a bump with the steering at full lock. I agree, it's a great size tire, and I wouldn't go any bigger because you'll likely start a chain reaction of modifications to make everything work right. I've read somewhere online that 285/75R16 tires would fit a stock TRD Pro, but my experience distinctly says "no."
Looking at getting a stage II spring pack for out back because I run a 400lb DCU contractor cap and all my work tools when I'm not towing so I'm hoping the ride will sit and feel the way it does with the factory springs and no weight out back.
I like the concept. How does this effect Your Alignment from Stock to What it Is now? Did it effect Speedometer Accuracy? If Anything, I’ll look at the shock upgrade
Noticeable, particularly filling up with gas. I have a 2011 SR5 with 265/75/16’s, stock suspension (too soft) and stock rims. I’ve owned the truck since new. 4 liter w 4 doors and 6’ bed. You will find that when you fill up your fuel economy seems to have magically gone down via the trip meter reading. I’m sure the slightly heavier / less aerodynamic tires vs stock play a roll / more insprung mass for the engine to push - but the slower rotating tires play a roll too. Don’t know how to recalibrate the onboard computer to get a more accurate readout, but you will notice the diff.
I do I have this exact set up! I like it... I do have side steps for the kids to easily hop on and out but overall it works. I have a brush guard that's increases the rake so I might throw on a leveling kit since I'm not hauling any trails with the truck. What do you think?
Hey Rob, yeah I think you gained .5 inches as that is half of your diameter increase. What ever it is it looks nice :). I asked my mechanic friend about the ride quality you are referring to and yes, low end lifts often reduce your ride quality. He said his boss had just had him install 19,000 dollars worth of lift kit on his raptor and the ride quality was amazing. He told me DO NOT CHEAP OUT ON YOUR LIFT. Spacers are garbage. Actual suspension lifts increase travel. After hours of conversation with him I started my information quest and ended up settling on Fabteck’s nicest 3 inch lift. New resi shocks and coils all four corners, new leaf springs, new UCA’S. Increase of travel front and rear to 10 inches. From what I have been able to learn from other professionals that install these systems, the ride quality should actually be better than stock, let’s hope. Kit has been on back order for three weeks and shipped today. Already have the wheels and tires waiting. Went with some bronze Icon compressor wheels 17 x 8.5 0mm offset and wrapped them up in some 285 70r17 BFG KO2’s. Can’t wait for it to get here. Oh, truck it’s going on is my 2020 Barcelona metallic red TRD off-road. It took over a month of research to establish wheel selection, offset, backspace, tire size. Happy to share what I have learned with anyone. Bout a 6500 dollar mod.
@@RobMotive I too was concerned about this issue. I called Fabtech and questioned one of their technicians on this exact subject. What started it was me going through the parts list and not seeing any diff spacers included. I was informed that the diff spacers included by some other companies (not naming names) actually do more damage. These spacers only drop the front of the diff, essentially tilting it. This creates problems as the fluid can not lubricate properly out of level. To properly drop the diff one needs to also drop the back of it where it is bolted to the frame. Fabtech believes that this is actually more damaging than the angle created by a mere 3 inch height change. That is why they do not include them on the 3 inch kit. I was also assured that the angle would not create long term problems down the road. So as of this point I feel reassured enough to take it off of my possible problem radar.
@@RobMotive well that’s not good. I will be joined by my mechanic friend for the install, I will ask him what he thinks about the angle. Fabtech includes a 5 year 60,000 mile power train warranty with this kit. For $3,900 they better have a few things figured out. I’ll be sure to let ya know if there are ever any problems.
If you're only lifting for esthetics, this is fine. If you're looking for functionality, it's not going to give much of a lift over stock. Also, keep in mind that a tire that is 1" taller than another, you're only gaining a half inch in ground clearance. Measure from the center of the wheel, not the ground to the top of the tire.
Interesting. I just bought a brand new 2023 Tacoma TRD Off-Road last Friday. This last Monday I went over to one of our local off-road shops to start looking at mods. I ended up ordering some Bilstein 5100 shocks, MaxTrac 2.5" spacer kit, Fuel 16" wheels with a -6 offset with some Toyo MT's in yup, 265/75/R16. The lift is minimal and more for leveling but I will see a small increase in height. I stuck with the 265/75's because I don't want to ruin the ride but I will be taking the truck off-road fairly often and wanted the benefits of a little bit extra height and the benefit of a more aggressive and capable off-road tire. Stuff should come in and get installed on the 14th so we'll see how I like it. Great honest video, thanks for sharing.
That looks sweet like that. My wife's Limited has 265/60 R18. I was thinking 275s and slight offset for summer and factory wheels back on and under for winter. On my Superduty I had a set of 315s that were huge on 17s. It looked super cool. The down side was mileage and they would throw road splash on both sides of my mirrors and up the sides of the truck. They also made my windows dirty resulting in scratched glass when rolling them down. My steering wheel also needed more effort to turn. Big huge tires look cool but they destroy your paint and shorten the lifespan of bearings and suspension parts. I am going to first try your approach on hers. Its hers and I don't want her to be unhappy. The other down side is aggressive tires are super noisy on the highway.
Hey Rob! I have a similar set up but with a -12 offset. I am rubbing a little and was curious to see if that was why you removed the front mud flaps? I believe that's where it is rubbing but I'm not 100% sure
My Son has the Tacoma with that small door and not a Four door truck. The suspension is stiff, I believe it’s meant for a work style truck. The back of the truck is about 2” inches higher than the front. What do you think about those spacers to install on the front shocks? Those tires and wheels look great. He has stock 17’s on his truck, I am going to pass this on to him, I wanted to buy him tires and rims, this would be cool.
@stevepadilla9729 You should be able to get them anywhere that sells shocks or your installation shop. You should verify you’re getting the right ones for your year.
Hey Rob!! Just found your videos. Just bought my first Tundra (2021 DC SR5 4x4). Do you know of any issues installing a 2 or 3" levelling kit creating any steering issues? Or good to go? TIA
Great looking truck! I bought method 701 wheel that are 16s with a 0 offset with the same tires as yours and they look great. There is not really any poke but they look good. Thanx for the advice.
Great advice, more should listen to this advice unless you're going full-on off roading setup. Yes,bthe stock plush ride is worth way more to you. The tire size upgrade using hybrid off road treads looks great. Trim about 2" off that huge front lower valance plastic (the snow plow chin). Remove it but it can look bare and odd. Personal preference I don't like the look With OR Without the valance. The only real purpose of the valance is saving some buffeting at highway speed, it doesnt really matter. So followed lines, taped, sharpied and cut it with the electric grinder, tapered it and sanded. Looks stock. Also those super long stock front mud guards....take those off OR swap the front out with Husky guards, which are a good 2" shorter. Rears OEM and Husky are very similer. Not necessary to change those. Finally de-rust the rear drums and paint them with rustoleum semi-gloss black. Also paint the front calipers along with the inner section of the front rotors (only the part that shows when the wheel in on). Plenty of videos on the subject. However I recommend good taping and don't use spray. Use the brush-on can of rustoleum. Do a few coats and let it dry well. It'll be thicker and last longer. Don't paint the mating surfaces to the hub and the wheel. Looks great and doesn't cost much except a Saturday of time. All these little changes makes the stance look good and clean, while saving money and not wrecking the ride. Or having those spacers wreck your shocks, bottoming out and touching the arms. If its your everyday truck, and doesn't see any off road. With occasional Lowes and household duties. Guys dont spend 1000's, save your cash for fun stuff like vacations and trips. This is just a normal guy setup.
Was there any hit to mpg with this tire swap? Truck looks sweet for sure!, Say, would those 265 75 R16s rub up against (in particular the front ones) mud flaps or would the tire have absolute clearance? THANKS again, Rob!
I spent $35 for some Streetrays top plate spacers (.5” thick spacer = 1” of lift) and I didn’t have to disassemble the front coilovers (they just use the stock upper bolts and come with new nylon lock nuts, which are shorter so they fit on there fine and safely). Best part is, I kept the factory ride, got a 1” higher, and spent almost nothing for the front since I put them in myself in under 2 hours. I also got a 3 leaf progressive add-a-leaf in the back and it rides the same as it did before too (if there’s any difference in ride quality, it’s not enough for me to notice at all - but I have more payload capacity now). After adding a camper shell right after the lift, I’m sitting exactly 1” higher in the rear that I was before the AAL and the shell. The AAL was about $220 and it took about 2 hours to install myself also. All together with a Firestone lifetime alignment afterwards, I’m in to the whole thing for right about $425 total... 1” lift all around and I maintained the factory rake and ride. For just a 1” lift, I couldn’t justify spending the money to replace the front shocks with 5100s like most people, especially when my stock Bilsteins only have 8K miles on them. Super happy with how it all came out. I’m thinking after looking at your stance Rob, I may have to get some 1.25” wheel spacers (which with my stock Off Road wheels, would be about the same as your -10mm offset wheels). Do you have any rubbing at all with your new wheels and tires Rob?
I lifted my tacoma 2” with bilstein 5100. The 5100 are good shocks supposedly better on road than the stock ones wit 375/70/17 tires. Couldnt be happier
I went with 275 75 16 on my 2nd gen. It did rub when I was turning hard with a dip in the road but only very slightly on inner fender liner. I went with this size because I would have a spare same size. Tried some Cooper tires from Pep Boys. 3 out of 4 were out of round so I kept the good one as a spare. I had to just about force the Pep Boys manager to come take a ride with me sir and you will see why I am not buying these tires. After one ride he agreed and refunded my money. I got to keep the spare for my troubles.
Great video. My 2020 AC 2.7 I put a 2/1 front/rear block lift. Looks much better NO fuel difference. Changed tire size. 245/75/16 - 265/75/16 & LOST probably 2mpg. I would highly recommend staying stock tire size on Tacoma. More wear & tear on front end / brakes & loss fuel economy. LOOKS GREAT but overall stock tire size IMO is the best... Sadly enough I love the stance of 2/1 lift & 265's and I can afford the cost so why not
I own a 2013 Toyota Tacoma TRD, I’m wanting to install a lift kit to my truck.. but I’m not sure how high I’m possibly able to go without getting new tires. My current tires are sized at 265 70 R 16 and I’m in school so honestly I’m just looking for the best affordable way to lift my truck, without spending a huge amount on new tires. Thanks!
Good job. ! with the bigger tires no need to lift . Agree! I do have the 285/70/17 -5 offset And they don’t rub and look great. I do get asked if I lifted ! in fact, one day I parked next to a TRD pro stock and my sport look wider and bigger LOL The guy with the pro was not happy !
If the tire is 1.5 inches taller you gain half that in lift our .75 inches.. All great info as most of newer truck owners don't really off road seriously...
I went with Rough Country front coil over 3.5" Suspension Lift Kit with Vertex Reservoir Shocks in the front and 3" in the rear with and as for tires 265x70x18.9 -12 rides smooth and no rubbing
Also you could not put bigger tires but slightly smaller tires to correct the gearing problem, then you really have saved a ton of money and you can still off road and look cool. that is what I plan to do but I will also do a leveling kit to make the stance better!

I have a 2017. Put 285/75 R16s on it. No rubbing whatsoever. Fit fine. Putting a 3 front 2 rear lift on this weekend. Cost 270$. Probably go up to 35s next new set of tires and won’t be a problem.
What is the tire size you chose here. Looks great

Rob...really like these wheels/tires. Are these SCS wheels? Thanks in advance bud!
Thanks. Have a look: ruclips.net/video/nNNWJFdY-xw/видео.html
Rob you are 110% correct with the advice, the TRD concept is focused usually on nubes that don't understand the plus and minus of raising the truck. I think leveling the truck with spacers, in combination with taller tires gives a similar appearance at major cost savings.
Did you add spacers? And if so how many inches and how does it ride?
@@robdawg700 NO, I use an Eibach Suspension kit for that model BULLETPROOF!
Great video, thanks! Any change to the speedometer with those larger tires? My TRD Off-Road comes standard with the 265/70R16 so the 75s would be exactly 1" larger in overall diameter. Just curious if you found the Speed was a tick off?
Yup, anytime you go to a larger diameter tire it will affect the speedometer 👍
Side steps are not there only to step into your truck. I use mine to access my roof when loading the roof rack or when washing the truck.
Great video. I agree 100%. I have a 2020 TRD off road and like the stock 16” wheels. Just had a set of BFG A/T 265/75R 16 KO2s installed. They look great and no noticeable difference in drive quality but they look incredible. Your truck looks great!
Thanks for the post. With your setup, did you have to do an offset or just put those tires on your stock wheels?
Hi I just bought a Toyota Tacoma 2023 4x4. So I like that idea without lifting the truck what is the size of that tire or the biggest with a -10 thanks Justin

Nice I’m going to that to my truck I was thinking of lift it but I just ganna do the bigger tires thank you
How would I offset my Tacoma to -10? Is there a certain wheel spacer you recommend?
Here’s what I had on my Tundra: ruclips.net/video/6-DbT2TQblo/видео.html
Super helpful, just bought the same truck 2021 SR 4x4 used. But it’s wheels tires and step-up are stock and it has grandpa truck look to it. I’ll definitely start here
Great info. I'm getting ready to put 265 75 R 16s on my "22 TRD OR Tacoma. Which wheels do you have?

I just leveled my TRD Offroad and the shocks where upgraded made my ride better. Have the TRD shocks with the TRD leveling kit. Thanks for the info on the tires.
Hi cool man, I love my 18 model but the tires are about wore out. Fixing to put a set of BFG all terrain k20. Mine is a TRDOFF Road. Tell me more about that cool name.
Is that the trd lift kit?
@@krazylilman09 yep! Went to the Toyota dealership and had the TRD lift kit put in. Got a new Sincere for it as well as the TRD pro grill
@@rickeycooley9139 yep I have. 2018 TRD Offroad too. Really enjoying it. Got a lot of plans for it.
Can’t beat stock for the best ride! Hard to find a good balance 🤔
My Tacoma has the 17” wheel. Would the 265/70R17 tire work well with it without rubbing?
@@lawsonolbrych4179 yes
Sounds great to me👍
Sounds like a great setup ! I'm lookin to upgrade my 4Runner
Would you say the 5100’s are better off-road than the stock shocks? Thank you in advance!
@@heyyall9037 In my personal opinion yes, they are beefier than stock.
Also, I lifted my Tacoma 2" with OME coils, Icon leaf, and nitrocharger shocks. It rides amazing! That's with armor, winch, etc.
That or more robust leaf springs.
hey rob I just want to get the look but I don't wanna mess the ride. what's your advice to fit 275/70 R17 BFG KO2’s in a tacoma TRD sport 2023 ? thank you rob.

Thanks for the reply. Got another question what about the sensors all sides
I just lifted my TRD-Off-road and love but now I need to change the needle bearing bc I have vibes now. I would suggest if you lift your truck with a whole new from and rear suspension that to do either add a leaf or a whole new leaf package so your truck is level.
Depends on how high you go I think🤔
Since you put on bigger tires did you readjust your headlights or does your truck have auto adjust headlight?
I did not. I probably should though😬
@@RobMotive Yep you are probably upsetting a lot of oncoming drivers. We have a lot of trucks around here that have been jacked up or bigger tires and their LED headlights are really aimed wrong.
Was thinking a 2.5" lift for my 2024 Taco TRD Sport. Now I'm thinking I can just try tires first.
Good idea👍
i love my 3 1/2 inch R.C full suspension lift yes it dose ride a little stiffer but next summer im going with the 6" vertex lift
Awesome 👍👍
Cool video! I always loved my trucks lifted. But as a contractor and as I get older, I like them stock. Hey, my truck is a 2006 with stock shocks and struts. Can you recommend the BEST shocks and struts for a 2006 Tacoma SR5 4 door (2 wheel drive)???? Thanks!
I’d go with Bilsteins.
Great that you found a good setup 👍
I've been heavily considering doing this on my 21' Sport, 6112's up front and 5160's in the rear.. I don't really need them, but thought it would put the truck at the perfect height on 265/70 17's. What kind of wheels/tires you rocking? any pics?
Looks Good! Even better with 5100's! The stock Hitachi shocks don't cut it for me! On on!
Hi Rob, Truly enjoyed your perspectives, Less money, no ride sacrifice, great look. I have a 2020 TRD Offroad LONGBED, 16" stock. Any down sides, or different advice you would offer? Thanks.
I love this setup. I wouldn't change a thing👍
I have an eibach leveling kit on my sr5 4 cylinder along with 31" off road tires and it rides so much better, plus it does great on the trails
You didn't link or me too. What brand are those?
Also I don't know anything about offset. How do you achieve the -10 offset? Do I buy something else?
Not sure what you’re asking?
5:06 the tire is ~1” taller than stock, so your truck sits half that value higher than before, as the axel is attached to the center of the wheel, not the top of the tire.
I am in total agreement. It will always only be 1/2 of the difference in height.
Sorry for those of you that didn't get it.
God advice 👍
Looking at getting a stage II spring pack for out back because I run a 400lb DCU contractor cap and all my work tools when I'm not towing so I'm hoping the ride will sit and feel the way it does with the factory springs and no weight out back.
I also removed side running boards. Makes it look better & looks higher. I too never used them & rub'd legs each time I got out
I like the concept.
How does this effect Your Alignment from Stock to What it Is now?
Did it effect Speedometer Accuracy?
If Anything, I’ll look at the shock upgrade
Needs an alignment, no Speedo affect👍
If you want better mpg, use 235/85/16” tires. Same height, narrower thus pulls less air and gives better grip.
Smiles per gallon 🤔
With this new tire size, how much does this effect your Speedometer and Odometer ?
Stay tuned. I’ll have a video up on that soon👍
So do you get any rub and what did you do about it?
Not anymore 👍
Sounds good. What are you doing about the CV axles? With that height, the angle change can cause damage.
I would disagree with them. The severity of the angle was severe enough to tear one of my boots and all of the grease spun out.
Just something to be aware of. I wouldn’t mention it if I hadn’t experienced it first hand😬
If you're only lifting for
esthetics, this is fine.
Please let us know what you think after the lift👍
Hey Rob. What brand and model are your rims. Truck looks good! Thanks for the info
Thanks. Here ya go: ruclips.net/video/nNNWJFdY-xw/видео.html
I just level my tacoma and put 18×10 and I love it, the look the smooth drive and the traction with 285/60/18 tires
Sounds awesome! 👍
Hey Rob! I have a similar set up but with a -12 offset. I am rubbing a little and was curious to see if that was why you removed the front mud flaps? I believe that's where it is rubbing but I'm not 100% sure
Definitely couldn’t have flaps with my setup.
eBay all day for those emblems. I agree on the tire size to gain some "lift". I'll be doing that once my stock tires are ready to be replaced.
I’d recommend Bilstein 5100 adjustable shocks for the front to level out the truck. Spacers will make the truck even stiffer.
@ thank you for the advice and recommendation. Where do you suggest I should buy them at? It doesn’t matter of the year I think his is a 2017.
TIA
Congrats on the new truck. Watch the angle of the CV Axles and make sure you get a good alignment 👍
Question, are those rims/wheels 16X7 or 16x8 at -10 offset?
Test drove 3 Tacomas tonight, the leveled one drove the smoothest
Nice. Did you buy it?
@@RobMotive no, it’s used and with the level and 285 tires I’m worried it was driven hard by a young kid
Was there any hit to mpg with this tire swap? Truck looks sweet for sure!, Say, would those 265 75 R16s rub up against (in particular the front ones) mud flaps or would the tire have absolute clearance? THANKS again, Rob!
No mpg change that I detected.
Without any lift there is some rub.
What do you think about adding the 2 inch spacer? Would that damage or mess with the ride?
Most I've ever gone was 1.25" and all was fine👍
I lifted my tacoma 2” with bilstein 5100. The 5100 are good shocks supposedly better on road than the stock ones wit 375/70/17 tires. Couldnt be happier
Nice👍
I went with 275 75 16 on my 2nd gen. It did rub when I was turning hard with a dip in the road but only very slightly on inner fender liner. I went with this size because I would have a spare same size. Tried some Cooper tires from Pep Boys. 3 out of 4 were out of round so I kept the good one as a spare. I had to just about force the Pep Boys manager to come take a ride with me sir and you will see why I am not buying these tires. After one ride he agreed and refunded my money. I got to keep the spare for my troubles.
That’s a bummer! But good that they did give you the spare 👍
Sadly enough I love the stance of 2/1 lift & 265's and I can afford the cost so why not
Yup…there’s always a trade off.
OMG, I was looking at the emblem on my steering wheel yesterday and was wondering how to get it off and paint it
The emblem itself is a bear to remove from what I’ve see. Check EBay for an overlay👍
What about the Toyota factory lift kit package? Would you do it or recommend it?
It’s not for the SR5….or so I’ve seen.
Does just adding spacers on the front cause the teucks to ride rougher?
Depends on how big they are.
@@RobMotive I plan on just going with a 2" spacer in the front to level the truck up. Mine is an 06.

Awesome video Rob, can you explain the -10 offset? Is that from the tire you buy? Or does some kit make that look/adjustment?
Check out tiresize.com. They do a great job explaining it👍
@@RobMotive great site answered my question. One last thing, was your speedometer effected much with the bigger tire changeout?
Not too much with these. If you go with the popular 285/70R17’s you’ll be 3-4 mph off at higher speeds.
I have the same question
Also you could not put bigger tires but slightly smaller tires to correct the gearing problem, then you really have saved a ton of money and you can still off road and look cool. that is what I plan to do but I will also do a leveling kit to make the stance better!
Get the bilsteins 5100's best budget setup. And #1 shock sold. Kit for front n rear is around 500$ 0-2in lift 👌
