  • It's been right around 30,000 miles since I've bought and installed the "Sprint Booster" in my 2017 Toyota Tacoma. It's a throttle controller and you can watch my install and explanation video here - • THIS $300 mod will mak...
    I've tried it out and really have a strong opinion on wether or not it's worth spending your money on.

    I agree on ECT. I have been a long-time Ram truck owner and used tow/haul one to accomplish the same thing. I now have 2,000 miles on my Tacoma and turning on the ECT is a step in my every day startup. I love the throttle response.

    Was going to buy one for my 2017 Titan. I always engage the tow/haul.....performance button😂 and shift manually most of the time. Never getting above 5th gear at highway speeds, most of the time just 4th and no more than 3rd on my backroads( it’s a 7 speed transmission). Thank you for your honesty. Rather keep the 300 in my pocket.

    Recently installed and tested on the 5th gen 4R. Indeed, it is a game changer when required on steep mtn passes and short momentum runs through sand and mud. Passing is also a solid application. I think race mode 9 is too much, 5 is solid and sport mode 5-9 is also a sweet spot. Don't need it around town or the valet or disable mode. Triple thumbs up. Perhaps if Alex did a proper installation and didn't hid the controller where he couldn't use it he would be happier with the product. As it sits now he appears to be a set it and forget type user. The cool thin is the control unit fits nicely in the button blanks in the dash. Although a small hole is required to make it look stock.

    I don’t agree with you regarding the Sprint Booster. I installed mine about a month back on my 2017 and love the throttle response. Fact is when it’s raining I actually turn it off as it is way to easy to spin the tires from a dead stop with it engaged. After driving my Tacoma a buddy of mine ran out and got one for his Hemi that he said was a dog. He’s happy too! Guys with the guarantee that comes with this booster try it for yourself and if you don’t care for it send that sucker back. My guess is that you’ll keep it.

      I installed the Sprint Booster on my R53 mini and at setting 9, it's almost undrivable if it's wet out. People have a misconception about what these throttle tuners do. It just opens the throttle quicker. I'm sure in an already extremely sluggish pickup, it's not noticeable. Put one in anything that's got some grunt, you'll feel it go wide open almost too quickly for street driving. Especially in a manual lol.

    I have it on my 2019 tundra since new 6 mo. ago and it works great. Since you went bigger tires you need to change your gears and calibrate your speedo for them.

Although I like the variety of the Sprint, I think I would be happy most of the time using the ETC Power function. I'll have to use the ETC function more to see if I like it. May have wasted $300???

Do we still have the control of gas pedal? or it will be back to normal mode? Thank you for hoping Alex Korobov can enlighten us. thank you again!

    Glad to see a longer term follow up on the product but the final impression seemed like it was just not for you instead of if the product did what it's designed for well or not. I don't own one but am considering it because I personally dread the throttle response for my driving style. If the ETC control was on the steering wheel I might be more content with using that but I feel it's console placement is inconvenient for toggling when you want a boost.

    May e preference or throttle design but on 5.3 chev there is monstrous lag especially annoying when turning a corner. As you turn n it almost feels like it is hesitating but it isn't it's just the huge lag between pedal and body. The demo machine physically shows this delay. No it's not faster,better it just dumps the lag which makes it feel quick psychologically..greatvideo thanks.

    I had purchased the PC, but out of the box and hoping to at least get an idea on what it does, fell short, returned the item without trying it, not too sure if there really is a true item that does help with the acceleration on the 2017 Tacoma since it lags as you start off, but it is a truck not a sports car.

    ECT button is a must for towing. I don't understand your review, the throttle controller has nothing to do with towing as it's supposed to give you a better "throttle response" which is what I'm looking for. I have not found a review that shows or states: "OMG when I give it gas it no longer hesitates before going". I've had all three generations of the Tacoma and this is by far the worst when it comes to throttle response and it's due to the "fly by wire" throttle. In my second gen, I had to be careful with the throttle or I would spin the tires... But my 2016 TRD off-road 4x4 can't get out of its own way from a stop but is fine once you're moving... So the question is: Does it improve "throttle response"? When I step on the pedal is it instant power or does it hesitate? Does it hurt fuel economy any when using?

  • @Arbyfig
    @Arbyfig 3 года назад +1

    Okay... so from what I can see based on many people saying, if you own a manual and want faster throttle response, go for the sprint booster, if you want the faster throttle response on an auto, just stay stock or get a pedal commander

  • @dennisnavarro6101
    @dennisnavarro6101 3 года назад +5

    To be fair, with those 33” tires, and a four cylinder engine, I wouldn’t waste my money on a throttle controller either. Even if it has the six cylinder, no one buys a Taco for its acceleration prowess. In fact, it’s precisely because it’s underpowered that contributes to its legendary reliability.

    The ECT isn’t the same thing and your doing your truck no good driving it while activated. Read the manual on the ECT functions

  • @denisdegamon8224
    @denisdegamon8224 Месяц назад

    Dude, throttle response and ECT are different things.
    Throttle response sluggishness has to do with getting feul to the engine on a 1 to 1 basis with the excellerator pedal. Since these newer vehicles are fly by wire, there is a significant delay in response to your pedal input.
    The ECT, on the other hand has the function of changing the shift points ( holding higher rpm's per gear) of your transmission for towing loads.
    These two functions are not related and perform totally different things.

      I also have that same side maybe like 1/2 to 3/4 higher i dont know why . For the wheel sticking out i took it to a shop yesterday and they couldn’t figure it out eather . I was reading and some people say the bed is off alignment . I checked the space between the bed and the cab on both sides and its different so it might be that . They say the fix is loosening the bed and re align it but i havent tried yet . I have mine on coilovers in the front and add a leaf in rear . So its hard to tell why that side is also higher . I didnt notice the wheel problem until i changed my wheels
