I own a Power Wagon and it makes all my other 3/4 trucks that I heavily modded for off road feel pathetic. The PW is on a completely different level and makes my wife’s Rubicon feel and perform like a tinker toy off road. I was skeptical when they first reintroduced the PW but OMG you need to take one off road in the tough stuff and it will defy what you though was possible off road. What is gravy is the on road ride feels much more comfortable like a 1/2 ton. It’s a win/win. If you are looking for a apocalyptic war wagon, then this is it and well worth the money. FYI...you don’t put step rails on a Power Wagon.
I have an older Power Wagon that I use quite frequently in my investigations and it works absolutely flawless off-road. I have nearly 400K miles on the odometer and want to upgrade in 2020. Compared to a Tremor or an AT4, there's absolutely no comparison when off-roading. sort of like comparing a Wal-Mart child's electric cycle to a Harley Davidson.
Can't wait to see comparo tests of this vs the Ford Tremor. PW has some suspension specs ahead of the Ford (front locker, winch and disconnecting sway bar) but the Ford has more motor, payload and ground clearance. If the PW had a little more payload for a small light truck camper, it would be game over before it even starts.

Well since the Ram TRX is over priced, I bought the power wagon instead. Love the truck, only wish is for a 7000 lb truck I say at least 450 hp instead of 410.
Over priced? Yes now they are which are 2022 but the 2021 were not but for daily use then yes very costly. But Milage is a better on the PW and cheaper since it doesn’t require 91/93. For as big as the PW it’s quick. Trx still drives 100% better but for what the PW it’s is a beast and drives off the line like a freight train. I just wish it had 35’s like the TRX

Excellent and thorough walk of the vehicle. I have a 2018 that I ordered built with the options I wanted......absolutely love the vehicle. Personally, I prefer the old school 2018 to the new school 2019. Lots of new electronics on the 19.....several unnecessary, some cool. I drive mine daily in downtown Chicago.....much more fun when I can get her out in Colorado or Tennessee to have some fun. By the way, every parking spot is tight for this vehicle....get used to it.
Dear #RAM, if you put a 6 or 7 litre diesel motor in this, and mate it to a 10 speed transmission starting in 2021, you will have made the perfect pickup truck.
Just so everyone knows this truck is the exact same as mine. and out the door i paid 53000 flat even price in Oklahoma. The sticker was 64230,where trucks are high. This is the best off road truck for the money. 4000 more than a v6 TRD PRO. and pulls and hauls more than a over priced Gladiator. I love this ram Power WAGON. It will go any where a jeep ruby will go. and carry more.
@Frog Dog Great comment and pricing on your PW. Does your PW have room for a little bigger tire? Looks like there is room as it sits in the parking lot but, those wheels have a lot of travel.
I saw the Gladiator at a show. Nice package, but just too small in the cabin and cargo area. Plus the towing capacity is just not there. PowerWagon is a Swiss Army Knife for off road!
Power wagon sure is ! Old body style frame not stopping me from getting the power wagon soon ! Can't beat it in off road capability ! Only negative having to wait until the 2022 or 2023 model year to get ram's new 1500 body frame on the power wagon, also the totally flat floor .
@pjasyl Don't you want to wait and see some comparo tests of the PW vs the new Ford Tremor? Just comparing specs, the Ford has the upper hand with the new 7.3 gasser motor, much more payload and towing, and higher ground clearance with the standard 35" tires. The PW has a nicer interior, better suspension and driveline with the front locker, disconnecting sway bar and standard winch. It will be interesting to see those two go head to head.
People don't like the rotary shift knob because it makes it difficult to rock back and forth if the truck gets stuck. In other words it's the same reason some have an aversion towards radios with no volume knob. It lacks tactile feel.
The column shifter allows you to shift quickly and rock the truck out of tuff spots. The knob sucks I have had both. The question I would ask of you with respect have you ever driven off road in a PW? They are the best IMO off road truck but Ram needs to go back to the shifter and ditch the knob.
I see your point, from playing around with it a bit, seemed like it wouldn’t be an issue going back and forth with the knob, seemed quick enough. Never been off road in a PW. I’ve driven a ton with a 2015 Ram 2500 diesel, which is really comparable to this one being how it feels on the road, somewhat stiff when comparing to 1/4 ton trucks. I bet they are good through. I love the locking diffs and sway bar disconnect, this thing has a ton of off road capability.
Power wagon was my second choice but in the end the end was not to my specifications. The power wagon failed: Poor ride / low payload / stand length bed / low towing capacity. I needed an 8 foot bed with a 3000+ payload for my camping and towing needs. I wish I could order any 2500 with locking diffs.
$82 ,000 sticker price here in 🇨🇦, bought one all Black and such a sexy truck and love it in almost all ways but fuel economy. The 6.4 L Hemi guzzles the fuel back in the City and still not so good on highway unless u wanna drive like a turtle on the highway, but Town or City you can literally watch your fuel gage drop at a fast rate even though you haven’t even went very far. 2 thumbs up for the entire truck except fuel economy which get 2 thumbs down.

Two suggestions I would make is to have a fixed format (set time, cover important points, give a rating) and a rating table (to compare to other vehicles and know the vehicles you've reviewed). See Doug DeMuro.
Franco Sosa Yes, the 2019 has an 8 speed versus the 6 speed in the 2018’s, but the overall gains are small, so in my opinion the 2019’s are not worth thousands more in financing when one can get a 2018 at 0%.
@@jlbush8249 The ZF8 is pretty substantial gain in this case, plus better interior with active noise and vibration cancellation is also very noticeable (unlike the coil springs upgrade before). 16 vs 17 or 19 vs 20 would have less different i would guess

500 ponies and 700 ft lbs of torque is a nice number!

With all those features, I dont think this is a truck you keep for 30 years. All that stuff has to be a pain to replace.

I have one as well. I was living with the bad mileage until winter hit and it gets worse lol. Averaging 21 l/100. I was around 16 in the summer.

Those smaller numbers are for the 5.7 Hemi. I think RAM make the 6.4 standard in the HD line recently.
