The best music of 1968 while the top 40 stations were playing ... well, the same 40 songs over and over again. Bring out this song people were always like, "wow what band is that?" Ray Thomas - you've touched my life in a wonderful way.
They were so far ahead of the times. When you see when all these great tunes came out, it certainly can blow the mind. What a band!!!!! Their music is timeless.
My vinyl albums may have provided a lovely sound at the time (70s), but goodness, to hear every guitar and vocal with such clarity; to be able to, first, find them on the Internet and then, see them in concert and "follow" the rest of the tour on RUclips -- this is a very good time to be a Moodies fan. :)

I put To Our Children's Children's Children on -- not realizing that I'd started with side 2 -- and got an earful of "Gypsy". I was hooked -- and I've been listening to the Moodies ever since.

I am listening to a tribute Band of The Moody Blues , ok but not as close to their sound for my taste, called TIME TRAVELLER , The Aussie Pink Floyd Tribute Band sounds much closer to PF then these guys doing Moodies. I mean Justin is a year older then me I'm 66 ,67 in October when he turns 68. I just wonder how much longer they can keep touring. This may be the last go round ! I use to joke in my Teens , would we still be going to see The Stones in their 60s....I should have said 70s ! Graeme is 73 & John is 69 , I believe it's the Music & the audiences that drives them on ! Just like the Symphony Orchestras playing Bach & Beethoven , someone will hopefully play their Music for future generations !
Dear Moody Jill; you produce THE BEST Moody Blues videos in the world! How many times have you seen them LIVE in concert? I think my count is about a half a dozen, but my little brother Tommy is about a dozen! He last saw them LIVE in VEGAS on October 14, 2016; Justin's 70th birthday! Now Justin is 74 and I am 70, and Tommy will soon be 69! We grew up with the Moodies, and they are our older brothers. 💖💖💖💖💖 I wailed when dearest Ray was the first to pass away. 😥😭 GOD BLESS YOU, dear Jill! 🙏🙏🙏

I like how this mixes light Blues with Classical Elements. I feel like later proper prog rock sorta missed that with the jazz thing. I love Magma even but I'm not a fan of Jazz the same way i am The Blues. This song has a very laid back yet mysterious and indeed moody vibe to it which is pretty hard to deny. Very British but in a way thats charming and honestly kinda stylish.
I saw The Moody Blues in Sydney a few years ago and they played this song...On the Threshold of a Dream is my favourite album of all time!! Beautiful images Jill.

I don't entirely agree with Tony Clarke who claimed that The Moody Blues music works best at night. For me it primarily evokes the ripe summer; the abundance, the lushness and the fulfillment of dark August green. But this song definitely has a nocturnal touch to it, one of my favourite. The great remote vocals from Justin between the 1st and 2nd verse are always heart-tearing... And the video is wonderful too, has opened some new spaces...
