So, I was coming back from a very boring economics class and heard this song wafting from the apartment across the hall. I stuck my head in and met this really cute girl! And after 47 years, she still has the record, and I still have her!
Many years ago, durning the days of my misspent youth, some friends of mine and I took some LSD. One of the group was having a bad experience. I put on this song. The music brought him back to normal (of course he was still pixilated from the acid, but there was no more danger of a meltdown). From then on, if anyone was having a bad trip, we always used the music of the Moody Blues to help them. It never failed to bring them out of their bad space. This is a true story.
Have I said just how much I Love this, thank you, Justin, Karmen, Julie, and Mike. You are all SO very Loved! I feel like I'm floating on a Heavenly Cloud!
One of the most beautiful songs ever written. It has been a huge favorite of mine since I first heard it over 50 years ago. Ray and Justin outdid themselves on this one.
As I listen to this for the umpteenth time on a dog walk through the muddy woods, I see clearly now a worthy comment......this isn’t really just a beautiful song.....it is a portal through to another world, where I drift and see another place...a place so much calmer than this one we inhabit. One to aspire to creating.
Is there another soul or band like Justin and The Moodies that can take you far away while sitting in that comfy chair or place you are softly reclining? No other music more beautiful, or captivating as their tunes were/are still today. ❤
THEY ALL HAD AMAZING WISDOM TO SHARE......I HAVE ALWAYS ADMIRED JUSTIN'S HONESTLY IN AN INTERVIEW....UNLIKE JOHN LODGE....THEY WILL ALWAYS BE TIMELESS.......🙏
What a voice! And still handsome as ever! Saw you at Sun City, South Africa in 1995, fourth row from the front. Unforgettable! Thank you for still singing!
I was a kid of 11 years old when I gave a lecture about the Moody Blues at school. No one in my class knew where I was talking about. I had a tape recorder with samples recorded by my older brother and felt that I was learning my fellow classmates something that mattered. Now I am 57 years old and recently an old classmate from that time was asking me: "Still into the Moody Blues?". I guess it made a difference somehow.
Such melodic class, timeless and unique contribution to music of the 20th century. How many off us over these years have drifted off to who knows where listening to this song?
I remember listening to this song when the record was released, but never in my wildest dreams did i imagine that someday ii would get a notification on my phone from Justin Hayward with a new and exquisite performance of this song, like fine wine it has improved with age, i"m sure Ray would have been the first to congratulate you all for this performance, peace and love to all of you.
"Are you sitting comfortably? Then I'll begin." A phrase that transports so many of us who grew up in Britain in the 1950s/60s back to our childhood. In those days, the radio unlocked our imaginations, just as this beautiful song does. As Ray wrote "Time seems to stand quite still. In a child's world it always will." When I listen to these songs, I am a child again. Thank you, Justin, Ray and the Moodies.
I'm sitting comfortably listening to this song, May Merlin cast his spell, a magical performance, Justin, Karmen's performance on the flute is especially beautiful. 🌟💖 🎵🎶🎵
This masterpiece transports me back to a time I'm my childhood, watching fantasie films of a long forgotten time of Camelot, of dragons and brave knights. So beautifully performed. 😍
Other worldly and peaceful musique! Flowing, lilting and airy! Wonderful! Justin and these musicians help to calm the world-weary heart. God's troubadours!
Thanks Justin...... Awesome 👏 Music I have been A Fan of yours since 1969 and I have A Son I Named after You, I named him Justin Shane, Born in 87.....I didn’t know your middle name, The Moody Blues Are The Greatest Band and always will be, Stay Healthy and Safe All of You during this Covid-19, Thanks 🙏 again Justin.......your Longtime Fan Don
This is a song that truly takes me over and then it somehow transports me to a far better place. Not on this Planet, but a far away, majestic state of mind, where there exists only love, peace, and tranquility.Lionel Bart is so appropriate to have named this song.
Perfectly stated. They even make my body react...like hearing one of the sweetest sounds from this life. Embraces me, like Mother’s gentle voice did... 💕
Jeeez, the guy can sing as well as he did in the 60’s, and the flute is heavenly, as well as the rest of the band, everybody so proficient, skilled, talented, melodious and Moody Blues worthy.
I ‘grew up’ with you in the sixties-seventies, Mr. Hayward. I treasure all eight ‘classic’ Moody Blues albums, and especially this first one, “On the Threshold of a Dream”. The music evokes melancholy, memories, and a wistful longing for what could be. Especially wonderful in this first album is the merge of each song literally flowing into the next. I can only listen to these songs for fullest effect by playing the entire album. Well done.
That voice - even after all of these years, still captures my soul and holds it! Magical, mesmerizing, mellifluous and Moody. One of my most favorite songs ever. It's like a lullaby.
This quartet is perfect. My wish-come-true would be to have a middle seat, ten rows back, and watch them play On the Threshold of a Dream from beginning to end. It doesn’t hurt that Karmen is absolutely captivating; evocative of Guinevere as queen.
When asking my children what music they remember growing up in our household they always say, "Mom, you always played the "Moody Blues". It was part of their growing up. The music touches the very spirit and always was fitting with no matter what was going on in life. I love this song so much and it gives memories of sitting in your concerts just mesmerized with the music. Thank you.
Sir, it would be my greatest honor and privilege to have just 60 seconds of your time to merely touch and shake your hand. Your music has touched and influenced my life in oh so many ways words can't describe. You bring tears to my eyes and magical things come to life when I listen to the music of the Moody Blues... especially your songs! Hope you get this message.
Such a magical song. Ray's flute and Justin's lyrics transport me immediately to that place in my mind where I sit comfortably as Merlin casts his spell.
Taking a break from the US election results. This sent a shrill up my body. In a good magical way. Saw you in the 80's in Buffalo. Hope to see you live again. Thanks.
07:25 AEDT Wednesday 4 November 2020 Hobart Tasmania Australia, A Beautiful and Transporting Performance. Everyone is perfectly balanced in their parts. Thank you Justin Karmen Julie Mike, and excellent presentation of the On The Threshold Of A Dream Album. Thank you so very much, Maria and Kurt Schmidt.
Who would have thought such a beautiful song started in a broom cupboard, made me laugh. I remember “are you sitting comfortably then I’ll begin” very well as I was sat on a chair in front of the radio (wireless) listening. 🥰
I just love this song. It transports me to another day and time. What a nice job by Karman on the flute. Put it on, close your eyes and fly to another time. Thank you Justin.
Fabulous rendition of a great song with Karen's superb flute which I am sure dear much missed Ray approves. Always makes me think of Tintagel, North Cornwall where below the famous castle is found Merlin's cave. A magical place and magical song, keep the series going please Justin.
You truly cast a spell with that, Justin. Once again, the trio supporting you does a beautiful job of re-imagining another of our favorite Moody Blues songs.
This is one of my favorite songs. As soon as I hear the first several notes of this song, it automatically takes me back to my younger years, back when I was 17 years old, and I get this odd feeling come over me each and every time I hear this song, and I hear it a lot because I play it a lot whether in my car or at home. I cannot go a day without listening to my favorite songs of the Moodies'. I was just listening to Gypsy waiting for Justin to upload his Tuesday song. The flute adds such a magickal atmosphere to this song, and it tugs at my heart every single time. When I hear the first several notes, I have to stop what I am doing, and I make myself comfortable to listen to this song, as if it were for the first time. I have it on repeat, because the first two times of listening to it, simply is not enough. Thank you Justin for taking us back in time with this song. I hope you are doing well and you are staying safe during these trying times. Your fans worry about you.
Yes.We Care & Pray For Safety in Health. You & Your Wife & Daughter. Plus the Group that Plays & Travels With You All Can.. Sure Missed Not Seeing You all in Kent, Ohio.
This music voids time. Yesterday comes back to the present and I live again all those countless memories. Specially those crazy sleeve covers on the LP's and of course, the wonderful music.
Just lovely. Thank you from the depths of my heart as I worry about whether or not my country will be sitting comfortably in the future or in the morass of the Trump era.
Thank you Justin and Ray for one of my favorite soothing melodious compositions of yours. Eases any restless troubled souls. Your songs are truly Spiritual. Thx again. 🎶🎶🙏🙂🎹
One of the bands ever, and my absolute favourite. You know that old " if you were stranded on a island and could choose one band to listen to on your portable player....my choice is always The Moody Blues from the start to today. I would love to see them once more in my life. Perhaps after vivid 19. Vancouver. Is a lovely city...... As always I love Justin Hayward, and named my younger son after him. (not j. Beiber, my son was born in 1993... before his time). "!Thank you so much for the stories behind the music. Thank you.
What a fantastic version of this song. I saw the Moodies perform it many times over the years. The first was in 1970 in Minneapolis for 2 concerts back to back. This is awesome you are bringing back the old songs in a new way with great style, Justin!
I'm sorry about the difficult times you've had. I had much more peace about things when this song was younger. It doesn't seem right that one of us would have to endure the opposite of the other all while this song played.
Damn! Fantastic live rendition of one of my favorite Moody's songs from Justin! Quick Note: The Moody Blues were my first rock concert, seen on Sept 25, 1971 at the Coliseum in Seattle, Washington (first of a 100 or so other rock concerts, and 4 more Moody's concerts). Love their music.
This is so beautiful. I'm your biggest fan Sir, Justin Hayward 🤣.I love the flute too. I think its my next best instrument after the guitar. Well done. I am really enjoying these episodes. Please keep them coming. Takes me back to so many beautiful memories, and how much I loved the Moody Blues and still do. You are all amazing. You are also a real gentleman, Justin Hayward. God bless you all.
This is wonderful! I didn't know Justin was doing this. All the Moodie's songs take me away from this world though, just for a little while. This song is particularly hauntingly beautiful. I will take another sip! His band is "Gear."
I have loved the MOODY BLUES since the early 60's I had all of the seven LP's but unfortunately got destroyed in a flood. I still play their music on a CD I discovered but it is not the same as having the original records that always seemed to have a story line. My thanks to the guys for providing such excellent music
So, I was coming back from a very boring economics class and heard this song wafting from the apartment across the hall. I stuck my head in and met this really cute girl! And after 47 years, she still has the record, and I still have her!
Oh my! This song and all Moody Blues takes me back to my teens, reading Lord of the Rings, record player close by. The best!
@kate hello, how are you doing it's nice meeting you here.

What a gift Justin has been to the world of music. His wonderful voice and songwriting talent has not been equaled by many others. Still going strong.

GOD bless ALL of you fellow fans of the Moody Blues....you maybe rare...... but not alone.
What a beautiful Song. Justin Hayward is such a great composer, singer and guitarist.

This song takes me back to my years playing professionally and being so absorbed in Justin's work he was writing back then. Simply magical.
Kudos to the flautist for a superb job. Seeing her perform in those heels, I can only ask: 'Are you standing comfortably?'
My thought too! I guess that both are true musicians and get lost in their playing (ow)
Ray would have been proud of the flute player, just wow!
I was a kid of 11 years old when I gave a lecture about the Moody Blues at school. No one in my class knew where I was talking about. this man never ceases to amaze, no matter who he is playing with. and this foursome makes some really magical music together. A MEGA FAN SINCE 1968
Me, too. ♡

Hayward is quite the singer, at his age. What a talent. Excellent musicianship to all.
Such melodic class, timeless and unique contribution to music of the 20th century.

Beautiful...tears in my eyes on this one.
I'm sitting comfortably listening to this song, May Merlin cast his spell, a magical performance, Justin, Karmen's performance on the flute is especially beautiful. 🌟💖 🎵🎶🎵
This song is just gorgeous. One of the Moody's best numbers. Ray's flute on the original was sublime, and this version really does it justice.

This was such a great series that was released during a very difficult time. Extraordinary musicianship by all four members of the band.
This song, like quite a few of their others, takes me to a place I can’t go to by any other way ❤️
True!
Perfectly stated. They even make my body react...like hearing one of the sweetest sounds from this life. Embraces me, like Mother’s gentle voice did... 💕
No idea how Justin keeps coming up with superb flute players. First, Ray Thomas. Then Norda Mullen. Now Karmen Gould.
Jeeez, the guy can sing as well as he did in the 60’s, and the flute is heavenly, as well as the rest of the band, everybody so proficient, skilled, talented, melodious and Moody Blues worthy.

This is one of the best popsongs ever written. Timeless.
I remember listening to this song on repeat on a road trip across the USA in the winter of 2017. Just this song. The whole way.
I remember driving across England, on the way to Stonehenge listening to them all the way. Really set the "mood". Cherished memory. 1994.
Gorgeous tune.
Pure Gold 😊
I just love this song. It transports me to another day and time. What a nice job by Karman on the flute. Put it on, close your eyes and fly to another time. Thank you Justin.

Ride along the winds of time and see where we have been. Such pretty imagery in this song and beautifully performed.
My wife and I have seen them three times, they never disappoint, always a WONDERFUL show!!! Been a GIANT fan sine the beginning!

I love this. I would really like to see Justin Hayward, Jeff Lynne (of ELO), and Barry Gibb (of the Bee Gees) do something together.
Imagine the harmonies of those three singing together. Add John Lodge into the mix as well and you’d have another supergroup.
One of my favorites, not just from The Moodies, but of all time. Well written and crafted. Karmen does a wonderful job! But we miss Ray.
Another BEAUTIFUL song. Just what I needed today. Beautiful flute.....great performance. Love all your music so much.
I love all the Merliney stuff too!!!
wow...one of my favs for sure..just stunninngly Gorgeous!!! xxx Justin and Moodies part
of my whole life!!!
Are You Sitting Comfortably is such a powerful musical title indeed! Justin, thank you so very much for continuing on with the Moody Blues story!
Fabulous, love that song. 1969 certainly was a great year for the Moodies, two great albums. Another fine performance here by the flautist.
Threshold of a Dream was my first album I listened to by the Moody Blues, and this was my favorite song.
What a fantastic version of this song. I saw the Moodies perform it many times over the years. The first was in 1970 in Minneapolis for 2 concerts back to back. This is awesome you are bringing back the old songs in a new way with great style, Justin!
One of the tunes that got me through some very difficult times while serving in the USMC. I’d bet you didn’t know that Justin.
I'm sorry about the difficult times you've had. I had much more peace about things when this song was younger. It doesn't seem right that one of us would have to endure the opposite of the other all while this song played.
Thank you for your service sir. This music is ageless and touches all souls that listen.
One of my all-time favorites! I love the flute solo in this version.
I love this song. Thank you, Justin.
Love Moody melodies, it's one of the things that set this band apart from all the rest. Lovely
Thank you Justin Hayward for your wonderful music you & band made.
Always sitting comfortably when listening to Justin Hayward voice and his music. Love ❤️ his music.
Think Ray would be very pleased with
Karmen. Sure do miss you Ray, still!!!
That was wonderful. Thank you.
Have always loved the flute in this song...takes me back.....
Where Empires have turned back to sand.
The melody is absolutely haunting! I hum it for days after hearing this song!
On the Threshold of a Dream was a brilliant album.....this song being one of its many highlights
This is wonderful! I didn't know Justin was doing this. All the Moodie's songs take me away from this world though, just for a little while. This song is particularly hauntingly beautiful. I will take another sip! His band is "Gear."
One of my all time favourite Moody songs! Thanks for the backstory.
One of my favourite songs ❤️
I have loved the MOODY BLUES since the early 60's
I had all of the seven LP's but unfortunately got destroyed in a flood. I still play their music on a CD I discovered but it is not the same as having the original records that always seemed to have a story line. My thanks to the guys for providing such excellent music
