What a great thought exercise. Is there anyone who wouldn't wish this were an album on their shelf? How did it take this 5 years to appear in a Moody Blues search (came up in a mike Pinder search)? It's also made me think about having another look at the solo albums I didn't bother with at the time, particularly Natural Avenue (hey I didn't have much disposable income aka 'pocket money' at the time). Songs like these bring me home This world takes me places I don't want to travel but I'm forced by the devils working constantly on my spirit BUT... JEHOVAH ALSO KNOWS HIS child will fight to the END TO ENDURE IT
I get it that you are a big fan of Mike Pinder, so the tracks included here make total sense. I like the opening track for sure. Mike has great themes but Justin's melodies and lyrics are a slight step above. Together they were the defacto Lennon (Pinder) and McCartney (Hayward) of the MB.
Sounds great but looks like Covid has brought a lot of classic rock musicians to the end of their careers. Most are now in their mid to late 70’s and a few, if not already retired, we’re on farewell tours. Pinder wouldn’t do it but Justin & John could do a Blue Jays in the studio at least.
Read an article over two years ago interviewing them and they said flat out they had no interest in creating any new music, they were done. I was sad to read that, seems they are now locked into just touring their catalog. It might have to do with how few folks actually buy new music these day and artists make very little from streaming services. Some bands do not recoup the cost of recording and producing a new release.
We can dream of such a reunion. I would imagine I'd died and gone to heaven to hear such a reunion. Truly, it wouldn't be the same without Graeme (the heartbeat of the band) and Ray's lovely flute.
I support your idea Beatcrazy. I did the same by inventing a band called Goddess some years ago. Their "discography" consisted of Crimson, Genesis, Yes, Caravan, Van der Graaf, crazy!
I recall the 3 major news networks each covering the abandonment of their follow up Lp recording project to Seventh Sojourn (as Tony Clarke halted any further efforts on his part) with reportedly tracks in various stages of completion destroyed. I’ve always wondered if any of those compositions had resurfaced later as solo material. Guess we’ll never know.
beatcrazy180 - This is much, much better than your other attempt at a mid-70s fantasy album (Children of the Ever-Guiding Light). I agree with many of your choices on this one. Thank you for your efforts.
Stand tall honest and go with the flow I'm tossed tumbled and without fear knowing that I'll contend with the results as Jesus said let gods will be done not mine to make it easy on your spirit let it Be
This is not "The Promise" which is an album by Mike Pinder. (ruclips.net/video/gSYismCiX14/видео.html) Not sure where this came from but it's a nice compilation, perhaps not the best choice for a name.
As we all know the title The Promise is the title of Mike Pinder's solo album. The image used looks remarkably similar to that used on John Lodge's solo album Natural Avenue.
That's what I said and then noticed your comment: The Promise is the name of Mike Pinder's solo album, released when the other band members recorded their solo music during the moody blues "hiatus" after Seventh Sojourn was released, which was almost shelved, apparently when there was a bit of friction within the band. So this seems to be Pinder's album, with blue jays and other rare moodier tracks. Nice mix, as it looks like you selected the better Pinder tracks. Did you use a roger dean art and add your own title?
Moody Bluer since mid-seventies, knew all their songs by heart. Made me a better person inside, not perfect, but better.

Promises are to be kept God cannot LIE I'll follow his ways best I can I'm disappointed in myself at times
This was the album cover from John Lodge’s Natural Avenue.
Love this compilation thankyou
Gee thanks :( some of us already have flashbacks and deja vus and memory problems from the stuff we took listening to this this the first first time, BUT at least now when the V.A. makes me see a therapist I WiLL HAVE proof and I can just play this :) "Peace Takes Practice" thanks. Rick
FOREVER Moody Blues Justin Hayword the angel voice 👍
Songs like these bring me home This world takes me places I don't want to travel but I'm forced by the devils working constantly on my spirit BUT... JEHOVAH ALSO KNOWS HIS child will fight to the END TO ENDURE IT
One with God in love, no battle here .
Meditate....and you will know (more).
Ok it all makes sense now. NICE WORK!
Awesome!!! I Love this.
A Pinder Lodge Hayward rejoining and recording together would be pretty incredible. Maybe?
@@QBandBookingKC sad!
Yes, and add Nora to the mix as a full member!
We can dream of such a reunion. I would imagine I'd died and gone to heaven to hear such a reunion. Truly, it wouldn't be the same without Graeme (the heartbeat of the band) and Ray's lovely flute.
Nights Winters Years is emotionally overwhelming.
I agree 100%
I support your idea Beatcrazy. I did the same by inventing a band called Goddess some years ago. Their "discography" consisted of Crimson, Genesis, Yes, Caravan, Van der Graaf, crazy!
i havent listened to this yet but it seems reverential to the sound so far. I'm with it
Always great music (: !
great music from the best
Thank you very much, good work!
Very well done, finally, hall of fame 2018,maga

Wspaniałe!
Promises are meant to be broken...empty promises 🙏
Great work. Almost should be a Moodies album.
Missing Grahame Edge though. Maybe something from Kick off your Muddy Boots? But really great.
It was the "on The Threshold of a Dream" album cover that got us started. It was the music that kept us going. (I prefer the older songs.)
Great work.
Timeless magic.
Had all the albums. This is great. Natural Avenue...whew.
beatcrazy180 - This is much, much better than your other attempt at a mid-70s fantasy album (Children of the Ever-Guiding Light). I agree with many of your choices on this one. Thank you for your efforts.
Agreed! This is better.
Rip Ray Thomas
yes my favourite l met him a lovely man he was so humble
Stand tall honest and go with the flow I'm tossed tumbled and without fear knowing that I'll contend with the results as Jesus said let gods will be done not mine to make it easy on your spirit let it Be
A very nice 'album' well chosen (mind you, any selection of songs by The Moody Blues can't fail to be good, to be honest !!)
.... at fist glance Ithought I as listening to a YES album .... ´cause the sleeve design ..... by master ROGER DEAN ....
Excelente y buenísimo
Ray Thomas was a phenomenally talented but underused, underappreciated, wasted asset.
Must have been hard at work when this came out,
Time to catch up ...
Excellent!
Thank you…..let’s hope for a place in the future
Very interesting, I searched in the discography of the band in Google and wiki, still can't find this LP
This is not "The Promise" which is an album by Mike Pinder. (ruclips.net/video/gSYismCiX14/видео.html)
Not sure where this came from but it's a nice compilation, perhaps not the best choice for a name.
As we all know the title The Promise is the title of Mike Pinder's solo album. The image used looks remarkably similar to that used on John Lodge's solo album Natural Avenue.
That's what I said and then noticed your comment:
The Promise is the name of Mike Pinder's solo album, released when the other band members recorded their solo music during the moody blues "hiatus" after Seventh Sojourn was released, which was almost shelved, apparently when there was a bit of friction within the band. So this seems to be Pinder's album, with blue jays and other rare moodier tracks.
Nice mix, as it looks like you selected the better Pinder tracks. Did you use a roger dean art and add your own title?
Superb
