    They can coexist with most amphilophus species, in most cases if they challenge a red devil they'll be put in their place. I would not recommend mixing them with most Vieja species, unless the tank is more than 300 gallons.

    Had a pair. The male was larger and started bullying the female so I separated them. She eventually reached the same size as him so I reintroduced them back together. All seemed ok all day and into the evening. I woke in the morning and she had murdered him. Guess she held a grudge! A real shame as he was very beautiful.

    I gravel-cleaned my tank one day.
    One jaguar - nothing else. He tore after my arm. Cut-it-all-up, - pretty
    badly.
    Parachromis are INSANELY aggressive. They will break glass -
    and yes they WILL jump out of the water to nail you.
    A friend's cat was dragged into a tank.
    That's intense. This genus has the rep. it does for a damn-good reason.

      When i bought my red devil he is smaller in terms of size and my jaguar has been in that tank first i taught my red devil will grow slower than my jag and then my red devil started to get aggressive towards my jags and take over their teritory and as the time go by red devil become stronger and then they start to fight and then when i woke up that morning i found my less aggressive jag is floating in my aquarium then i started to redecorate my tank again and lower the temperature to lower my red devil's aggression but i thought they'll be fine because this jag is more aggressive than the other jag and its size is bigger too so i thought it will be the tank master, but my jag has its own teritory and started to became more aggressive because my red devil now is the tank master and then last thing i saw was they are fighting and the time i got home my jag passed away thats what happened

    I had 2 12 inchers with 2 big buttikoferi and a lightly bigger oscar plus a good sized dempsey with some clown loaches.. there was 1 small buttikoferi that got picked on but they all did well. My managuenses eyes turned red and they formes little fangs on their lips. They liked to scoop gravel in their mouths and spit it out against the glass. Your exaggerating with no tank mates.. my buttikoferi were definitely tougher.

    • @michiganaquatics2394

    • @c.m2668
      @c.m2668 4 года назад

      J D you should not have either of them in a 75 gallon, maybe as a baby but definitely not as an adult and I wouldn’t keep them together in the first place

    • @michiganaquatics2394
      @michiganaquatics2394  4 года назад

      @@c.m2668 a 300 gallon would work for both since JDs are smarter than wolf fish will have the brains to stay away and live for a while in the tank as long as a hiding spot that only the jd can fit in is given. It will take a long time for a WF to grow bigger than the JD therefore will not be seen as a food source as long as plenty of food is already supplied the WF will not want to kill a strong jd cuz it would take alot of work to just eat. Its the same reason you can keep other fish with piranhas

      The 2 v 1 with a young small jag was the issue, once the jag grows it would not tourment but kill the small jewels and will eventuly kill the oscars aswell. Jewel cichlids are like african convict cichlids, they will team up to defend themselfs cus in the wild if they didnt they would get eaten... and they do so that jag would do better with a GT or a RD unless its a female
