Best part of this video- the mini me X2. My dad use to make & fix everything himself, my mother encouraged him to get my little brother in there with him to learn when he was little. He's all grown up now & is a pro now @ fixing everything & building anything. He even fixes all the computers & all viruses for the sherrif's dept., where he works. It really changes their early minds & how they think if they learn to fix things on their own. Only wish I would have learned all that my brother got to when we were young, but it wasn't that way back then. Keep it up!
“If you are gonna do it, do it right”…. I have mad respect for your work ethic!!! There are too many half-assers out there! Also, the closet is awesome!!! Well done 👍🏻
What I love most about this video is that you take the time to let your kids help that’s precious time that you could never get back if you didn’t do that. Trust me I know I have major regrets.
Great job, and lucky you to have such a good little helper. You are the first person I've ever seen use Dunn Edwards Swiss Coffee besides me. I used it in every house I've had in the last 30 years.
Love this...we’re building our house next year, shop fitted wardrobes are not something I want to spend big money on buy have bought IKEA wardrobes before so good value for money. Great dad skills too 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Love the little guy he's into it doing all he can manage at one time. That big job is a lot to absorb for a little one. Then there were two helpers! Lovely job Dad!
Two closets go from "lame old-people" to modern for $1,600 and some elbow grease? Solid investment. Also noticed your in the "1 million view video" club now. Congrats!
Am using drawers from a large dresser to recycle unwanted furniture can use the dresser body as a work table for plants outside add some boards across from recycled wood as shelves but thank you 🙏 it helps those needing guidance in all projects best wishes 🙏❤️☮️🙏❤️☮️
I can't believe I just watched Austin put together IKEA stuff for 10 minutes on a cell phone. Great job buddy, hope all is well with you and the family
It is scary just how much time I will invest in watching these D.I.Y. videos, hahaha. But they are, (usually), just so satisfying to watch, and way cheaper than therapy, so thank you. Great use of free labour too, lol. Greetings from the UK.
i would omit the bottom to get more space for shoes and gather less dust that cannot be cleaned, also the side walls i would use wall itself, by adding a 2x4 to secure the drawer walls attached to ceiling and floor.
Looks amazing! Last year, I wanted to do a Pax closet but most of the frames were out of stock so I just bought some laminated shelving and drawer slides from Home Depot and made them myself. I think they turned out better than the Pax and were half the cost. I'm moving in a month and I plan on doing the same thing in my new home. Interestingly enough, the bedroom closet in my new house is the exact same size as in my current home so I am planning on doing the exact same layout.
Awesome! We are in the process of designing our next closet layout and will probably build our own from scratch this time. I liked the Pax, but like you said, you can do it cheaper a few different ways.
The best way to avoid cracks when drilling is to start with a smaller bit and slowly work your way up. These drawers are MDF so they are easy to drill.
Hello! I see that you have something to hold onto the clothes hanger pole thing in your original wardrobe. I'm thinking of installing the same in my pax to hold up my heavy dresses. How do I start going about making that / tutorial? Thank you :)
Love it man. I’ve been watching your videos since the Crown Vic! I’m 28 months in on an entire home remodel so I love the change of pace. Gotta learn how to “cope” those inside corners on baseboard trim. Closets aren’t a big deal but essential for living areas that are move visible.
@@AustinCoulson oh yeah, gives you a professional look and no caulking. If you have new drywall with the tapered edge, you might not be perfectly square. You might need to do a compound cut to compensate, or use a shim in the corner. Looks 1000% better than caulking!
So happy to see you encouraging your helpers. What are the dimensions of the closets, please? Curious because of the way they look through the camera lens.
Hey Austin, are you still doing anything right now with auto side projects? I know you need to finnish the house... but, was wondering on your plans for back to auto? I like what your doing. . Just thought we might could get together on my 4wd swap on my new "map dart" E-250. house is looking good. Thanks.
Right now I am not able to do anything automotive as I don't have the shop set up. Once I move back West I will build a shop from scratch and be good to go.
Austin, does the metal connector you used for the corner, on the bottom, does it come with the PAX system or you improvised? If so, can you give me the reference for that part?
It's pretty much the same design as other IKEA furniture which some people love and some people hate. I could have built both closets in about 6hrs if I wasn't filming.
@@AustinCoulson thanks, for the video. It was useful. I finally purchased the system. I was able to get it together. Just IKEA has been out of stock on one drawer I need to finish up the system.
@@matthewbrooks4638 we had that issue with some things being out of stock. Had to change the design a few times until we found a setup that was available
@@AustinCoulson Thanks. We recently bought a house in need of repairs and updating. Our walk in closet is very small but I'm wanting to do something like this to it. Other than the fisheye I thought it was great. Quick question, can these ikea boxes be transported in something like a Mitsubishi Outlander or am I going to need a truck? I'm super excited to actually live near an IKEA now but they don't deliver larger items and I don't have a truck.
www.ikea.com/addon-app/storageone/pax/web/latest/?range=pax&uiPlatform=web&locale=en-US#/planner That's what I used. If that link doesn't work you can just google "Ikea Planner" and it should take you to the planner page
Best part: encouraging your little ones to try rather than pushing them away. Mad props man 🙌
Thanks!, he is crazy for Legos, and she is crazy for duplos, and this closet is just a bigger version of the same!

Great video. Whats the name of the tool you used to align the handle holes when drilling? I don't see it on your Amazon list.

Love the handles!!! Can you tell me if there are any tricks to drillings into the drawers? I’m scared the drawer will crack.
The best way to avoid cracks when drilling is to start with a smaller bit and slowly work your way up. These drawers are MDF so they are easy to drill.

If you run a bead of glue around the slots for the drawer bottoms, they are a lot stronger and last a lot longer. We’ve had some for 30 years.

Hi there nice video. What are the interior dimensions on the closet itself?
I think this closet was 110x48"

How tall are these cabinets. Prepping for lights above cabinets for an accent.
