THIS is legit DIY. Working on the ground, minimal amount of tools. No fancy 100k workshop. This makes me happy to find as a DIY. I always run across the "DIY" where they have thousands in equipment and tools. Thank you.

    • @OnlyBlix
      @OnlyBlix 3 года назад +13

TBF they're all DYI. The more you get into DYI, the more tools you end up getting. You really just need a circular saw and a drill to build whatever you want. The more tools you add, the easier, more refined, and better finish your build has. For example, she used pocket holes, which is another tool to add refinement to the product.

Girl, you did that!!! You need to, if you’re not already, advertise your skills and make plenty of money. You did this just the way I want to do mine, with “ MY” ideas, not Home Depot or IKEA, and they are cheaper than the “Closet Professionals” that charge you for every little detail. This isn’t someone else’s pre-fab boards; These are “THE REAL DEAL”!!! YOU GO GIRL!!!

    Go video:
Tip from longtime experience with doors, pop the pins, that way for reinstall you just have to put the pins back in. Also use a flat bar driven in under the carpet strip nails perpendicular to tack strips and you can take the whole strip up with only a few bangs on each nail.

    • @michaelmeinzer5863

Wow, looks great and very good work. The only suggestion I'd have for anyone that replicates this. Try not to glue large pieces of wood to sheet rock. When the wood contracts just a tiny bit, it can put stress on the drywall and even cause small cracks. And if you ever decide to change the space, you'll have a wall that needs a lot of repair. A few pocket hole screws should work.

just a heads up, when you take a door off the hinges, you just pop the pin in each hinge. Taking the screws out increases the chances of stripping the holes out and messing up the door.

This is a very interesting project. Video nicely done. The only item I had doubts about was the 2x4 base. Were those 2x4s regular, non-treated wood? Great video. Thanks for sharing.
A few of questions, that will help as I am fixing to start my closet revamp...
    1. Is the base build out of treated wood? My understanding is that it is required by code for any wood touching the ground or slab to be treated.
    2. Can you give the model # of the Ryobi nail gun you were using?
    3. Is there a particular reason for using pocket holes for attaching verticals to the top shelf? Can one use screws ir nails from the top straight into the vertical boa4d?
Thanks in advance for anyone answering, and sharing their knowledge.

another hack- when taking the door off; take the pins out of the hinges. Then put the pin in the hinge part on the wall. It’s faster & you don’t run the risk of having to re-drill holes in the door. 😬
Edit- that’s for IF you’re putting the door back 😬

Very cool! Good deal not relying on just the liquid nails, after demoing several houses I have noticed, on a finished surface if it does adhere it only to the paint layer. Most of the time it doesn't stick to even high grit sanded wood.

i am planning to build something closet in our currently completely empty little walk in wardrobe. got some inspiration form Stefani's and almost decided the design, then just notice we have cornice!!! Dont want to remove the cornice as it will cause too much mess. Oh well, have to redesign the closet....

Amazing job! One tip though ! Bend with your knees not your waist or you gonna suffer from chronical pain in the future! Just try to sit like you do squats rather than getting your head towards your knees. Keep up!
