Hi everyone, thanks for watching my IKEA Aurdal Closet storage installation video. I have built quite a few closets with IKEA products but this one is the best deal for the money. Let me know in the comments below how you feel about IKEA closet products. - Joey.
Great job! I have similar dimensions in my closet. I want to utilize 3 walls of my closet, so can this Aurdal system handle corners? Can I customize the width of each section/shelf ?
Hi I just want to say Thank you very much for this video and thank you so much for explaining so well how to assemble this cabinets. Before I found you video I had already watched many videos on how to put shelve in my closet and I saw tow deferent videos and the women did not explain anything on how to assemble or the if it was hard or easy and one of them had her husband helping her so I thought it was hard. The sad part is they never said it came in as a whole set already or the price $$ of it like you did! So thanks alot 😊
As someone who had never taken on a project like this, and hardly knew how to use a drill, your video saved me hours of confusion and frustration! My Aurdal system came together surprisingly easily thanks to your clear and concise instructions. Keep up the good work!
Love this video. It's very clear and concise it doesn't waste time with unnecessary chatter, I like the way you think organized and explain all the little things a person might forget to think about. Extremely useful 💪👍
This was so helpful! I'm attempting my first ever home improvement project with an Audral system. Never even used a drill before. I feel much more confident now that I have watched this. Thank you!
Wow! This looks so simple! I never knew this system existed at Ikea. I'm glad I came across this video because I want to do a custom closet in my walk-in closet. Great job! 👍🏾
Thank you for making this video! It was a massive help while I was installing my Aurdal closet. Without it, it probably would have taken me 3X longer to complete.
Great video, and very well presented with no annoying music! . I’m never good with written instructions so it make things easier to understand when you can see someone else do it first. I’m looking for storage and wondering if you can fit doors or curtain or something onto this?
The frustrating thing was that I just painted that wall the day before the video. I had to take out the old closet shelves, repair the wholes and I repainted the whole closet white. All of it. Then I went to IKEA to get the closet parts and they didn't have the closet in white. They only had it in the grey. So I had no choice but to take the grey. Once I started assembling I realized that I was now going to see that bar across the back. UGH! Thanks so much for commenting. I agree with you for sure.
@@DIYProjectGuys I love grey, it looks more expensive and luxurious. I went to get mine in white today, but regretted that I could have bought grey. i think the white version is slightly too plastic looking.
Thanks so much. This is a new product so I wanted people to get a good feel for it to deiced if it would work for them , especially since its at such a good price point.
Fantastic video! "liked and subscribed" thank you for this! Edit: dont do like i did and forget that the measurement for the back rail is the bottom of the bar and not the screw holes ugh. I'm dumb.
Awesome video! We finally got the rest of the parts we needed for our Aurdal system - it took us 2 months to find the drawers that came back in stock in the Long Island store and drove 1.5hr to pick them up. Can't wait to put them together and following this video tutorial! Thanks Joey and DIY Project Guys! :)
SS, I wanted to do the close in white, but IKEA had no stock for drawers or baskets or anything. It was horrible. Then I saw that they had the whole thing in stock in the brown color, so I decided to go for it. I am glad I did. I really love it now. Thanks so much for watching.
Question: i have the longer 49” support and it seems like i can drill two into a stud but for the other two it would be into drywall, should I use anchors? And if so do you have any recommendations? Not sure how heavy duty the anchors would need to be
Seems like you installed the drawers with less spaces where you can use your hand to grab them to open. Are you planning on installing drawer handles to make them easier to pull open?
Thanks for the video! Do you think it would be possible to assemble the vertical pieces and top/bottom shelves and slide them into place along the support rail? Our ceiling height is very low and I'm afraid I won't have the clearance to lift the side units up and over the rail, or to get enough force from above to install the top shelf.
I remember going on summer holidays in Aurdal, at the far end of the fjord, where there were the beaches were sandy and the girls were r.... I mean, dandy.
Hi Kassandra. There are not a lot of videos on this closet system so I wanted to make sure you all learned everything that I learned when I was building this. Thanks so much for watching.
I had trouble finding it in white. I couldn't get any of the drawers or baskets in white. But I could get the entire closet in the dark wood. That was why I went with the dark wood. Otherwise I wouldn't have been able to build it anytime soon.
you got lucky the width of the open space matched up with the width of three sections against each other. If it wasn't the case do you recommend cutting on section to get an exact fit?
Thanks for the video. I bought the standard 25 5/8" suspension rail and the instruction says at least 3 screws are needed. However, studs are 16" apart and I can only have two screws in studs. I see you also put in three screws. Does one of them not go into a stud? Thanks!
I was wondering if someone was going to catch that. So, you are right, The way it is currently set up, I cant really get the drawers open easily. The options are to put more space between the drawers so you can reach into them and open them, which is how it is SUPPOSED to work. Or, you can put drawer pulls on them. I REALLY like the way it looks right now. So, I am going to get drawer pulls for them next time I hit IKEA. But the way they show this in the IKEA store, it has more space between the drawers. I like the nice and neat look of the drawers being close together. What did you think if the project? Not bad for a few hundred dollars and a tiny walk in closet, right? Thanks so much for commenting.
@@DIYProjectGuys haha yeah i saw the lower space and was hoping it would work without a drawer pull because my gf liked the look of it. We're getting the aurdal as well and trying to see how to configure it before it comes. It was a good video, good comments and hints of what i'll be working with. It's less than a hundred more than boaxel but looks a lot nicer without their wall hooks and components
Thank you for shooting this in such details! Looks like the width of your wall is exactly three shelves wide. I am curious if the width is not perfect, I guess I can still use extendable rack, but there won't be any shelf that can match the width, is it correct?
Well done! I like it! The color is awesome too but I agree with the other comment. Black wall or something added like that would give your closet a more finished look! 👍🏽🙏🏽
What product or item are the white trays you put on top of the shelves? This is an awesome video!! Do you think it is possible to cut the shelves and add the grooves to make a section "narrower"?
I got the white trays from IKEA also but they were in a different part of the store. I just measured that area in the display and made sure they fit. They are just sitting up there, they dont slide out or anything. It would be tough to cut the shelves and add the grooves unless you have a router and know how to to it. But I guess if you have the time and the tools, its totally doable.
Great video. My only question is this. Given that there is no hardware or handles to open the drawers, it looks like your drawers are too close together. I didn't see you actually open any drawers in the video. Seems like the space between your drawers is too small to stick your finger in and open the drawer.
Hi John. I did install draw handles on the drawers. Otherwise I would not have been able to but the drawers so close together. You obviously watched this video very closely and I appreciate that.
@@DIYProjectGuys Thanks for your response. Makes sense that you installed hardware. I watched closely because I installed an AURDAL yesterday for a customer. Watched your video afterwards. Should have watched it earlier.

This looks amazing! I’m thinking about getting this system for our closet, but we have no wall studs to screw into. Ugh. Do you think this would be stable if I used toggle/bolt anchors?
Hello. It will not be stable if you use wall anchors. Those support brackets are heavy and they have to go into beams. You might want to go with the PAX system because those are stand along cabinets that will work fine with the wall anchors. Thanks so much for watching.
