You don't need a fancy shop like he has ... A tape measure, circular saw ( be sure to use a plywood blade) electric drill or screw gun ( a magnetic extension helps but they make long screw bits & be sure to get the proper tip for the screws you are using), caulk line, a bottle of wood glue, sanding blocks or sand paper and framers square ( clamps do help but a family member or friend helping works better..think of the time together) ..all these are just base tools ... Design to your needs ☺..good luck👍
This guy is about as professional as you can get, first of all he has all the tools to get the job done and he is smart as can be you, you can tell he does a lot of wood work, this guy can start his own business if he hasn't already, I bet he could build custom cabinets or just about anything, great video! And one more thing, why in the world would anybody give this video a thumbs down, who would not like this video? People are just jealous, this guy explains everything in detail and he did an awesome job, people are just sad sometimes.
Indeed he is a pro n professional!! Yes I would love to be hired him for my closet as we moving into a new place...wish he could do our closet...super smart!
honestly the biggest advice i got out of this is which plywood is best to buy if you plan on painting. I have been trying to find that info for SO long. wasn't even expecting it from this video either... so what a pleasant surprise. THANK YOU
I designed a similar closet but instead of all those hanging rods, I designed it with fixed shelves on top of the middle drawers and on the right side I had a 32 inch in height shelf to fix a suitcase. Above that right side I had varying height shelves. There is a top shelf from left to right for blankets and other bigger items. On the right side are hanging rods for clothes. Keep in mind that this custom made design is for a vacation home and custom made accordingly. My nephew built it, he used poplar hardwood and birch plywood for the shelves. I posted the finished closet on Facebook in an ad and immediately got about 30 inquiries. The total material costs which included enamel based oil paint was about $400. It does add value to a house and not to mention it is a great use of bedroom space. Oh, and did I mention that women love those custom closets, especially my wife! LOL.
I came across similar problem that you had on hutch upper, side pieces. I pocket screwed them to the top and filled the exposed pocket holes with precut wood dowels angled specifically for filling these holes - found at Home Depot. I sanded them down and you can’t see them after paint. Your method is also good. That wall hump is so typical of builder tract houses. Belt sanders are god send! Great job and video too.
I would be so into having my own wood shop at home. I would actually love making my own home improvements. This is so cool! Now I just need a house 👁👄👁
@@brianlogan4740 My problem is I have investment properties, My house, my son's house and a cottage and each of them have dozens of projects. I don't even want to start talking about my parents and inlaw's place. Five years ago I said I was booked solid for the next five years and I am still booked solid for at least two. At this point I am not sure if I finished all my goals from back then or added way more. LOL
I made few cabinets with "adjustable" shelves for my family, friends and clients and since they call me on regular basis I always try to sneak a peak if they move the shelves. No one has moved them, including me. I use the same jig as you but I drill every second or third hole because it looks less like swiss cheese or mass produced furniture. I love your vids and I learn quite some stuff from you. Cheers!
Carpenter here. It was nice to see you scribed the back of the hutch for a nice fit. Since everything is just white I would get some white painters caulking and run the smallest bead along the back of the hutch where it touched the wall and where the drawer touches the wall too. Then scrape away excess with a putty knife. It will make the edges so incredibly crisp and professional looking. I mean it's a closet so no one will look that closely but I'm just a perfectionist and I think it just looks so good with that extra detail
MDF is less expensive and has a very smooth surface. I am building built-in bookcases with it. For strength I glue to 1/2 inch panels together for a 1 inch shelf and sides. I have built bookcases like this in the past and it works really well. I love the idea of drawers in the closet. I fold most of my clothes anyway and it would give me far more storage that hanging! Thanks for the idea!
Thanks for the inspirational videos Brad, your upbeat attitude, tips and respect for the art of carpentry is why you're my favorite RUclipsr. I'm actually remodeling my kitchen at the moment and building the cabinet from scratch as well as changing the countertops to a White Concrete countertop 😄. Thanks again.
Great video and great looking closet system…for the rest of you schmucks without the carpentry knowledge or tools, such as myself, closetmaid has very similar kit for about 800 with drawers, all the shelves, and a shoe rack. You can even get fancier if you put an LED strip on the inside of the wall and a smart plug for lighting.
Bro I enjoyed this. I am going to do this now. I hate dressers out in the open. You just gave me some home improvement idea's to make my house a better investment. Thank you Sir.
Nice job. I never let my cabinets touch the floor in the closets. I hang them around 6” or so off the floor so one can keep clean, critters cannot hide and replacing the carpet is never an issue.
I really appreciate seeing people actually use their safety gear! It's so rare on RUclips, and a good reminder that these tools can be quite dangerous, even if we're very familiar with them.
I would consider this an "ADVANCED" stage DIY Closet Organization with Shelving and Drawers. I'm just a little jealous that I don't have 1/2 the stuff you used to make them with . I will pin this for when I can though. Great video and excellent instructions.
LOL - loving all of these DIY videos or others that say "easy" - they are if you have your own workshop. Looking for easy builds when you have minimal tools!
I just came across your channel. I’m a 62-year-old female who’s always been a DIYer and all sorts of home improvement and repair departments. I’ve always loved woodworking but I’ve more admired it, then actually worked with it. I did make a few custom items including a beautiful hanging wine rack that I copied from a restaurant. I’m just curious do you do this full-time? How did you get started was your dad in this line of work? Did you go to school for this? I want to learn more I guess watching RUclips videos is one way to do it. Any other suggestions besides reading and watching videos? Thanks I appreciate your help and you do fantastic work! I’m very impressed. And you’re tool collection looks fabulous! Also on one final know you are so meticulous and clean. Wow I could eat off your floor. That is very impressive my friend
you make it look so simple. would love to see some videos with budget basic tools for beginners. I would love to build things but dont want to spend too much on tools before gaining some confidence.
I use the Radiata Pine plywood all the time. It's $30.95 at my big orange store. Multi layers but like Brad said get a straight flat sheet it will not, will not flatten out. Did I mention it will not flatten out? Great build Brad.
I'm a carpenter but with far less tools at home. I mean, still a couple thousand worth but I don't have nearly his level of tools. That said, can still pull this off without this degree of tools. You just have to get a bit more creative. Like, instead of a track saw, a basic 6" circular saw and a straight guide would work. I've managed to remodel almost my entire house with the basic tools I have.
Nice video! I purchased the plans and they are very well laid out and easy to follow. I can tell you put a lot of time into them. Having the plans makes it so much easier to jump into this project, rather than trying to figure it out as we go. Which is whet we were going to do before I found your video. Also it keeps from wasting wood and messing up when you have a clear plan.
Stop block... top panel... gang cutting...clamp heads....base cabinet...face frames.....edge band....combination square... it was very reassuring when you messed it up. But then fixed it with a lil piece of tape
Very good instructional video young man! However, as a single (seasoned) woman........I don’t EVEN have tools to think of trying something like this! LOL I love power tools, but nothing at this level!
I have been watching your video since i bought a house, i want fix some of thing myself just like you. But it’s really task. Man, how did you manage all those tools and machines? How can we learn lot of those tricks and skills??
I think it would help to have a diagram of where you are while assembling or cutting. A small picture in the corner highlighting which part of the frame your on will help everyone a bunch in following along. Very well done still!
Am I the only person that thinks this closet was empty to begin with? My God, my hall closet has that much crap in it but its 1/3 the size. This video was in my suggested video feed glad it was I enjoyed watching it and the commentary you added as well. Would love to see a standard closet converted into a craft storage closet. If interested I have a closet you can use for such a video.😊
Loved the video! Can't wait to see the larger closet project you have set up. You should look into picking up a Graco or Homeright HVLP sprayer. I actually picked up an Avanti from Harbor Freight to finish a modified version of your desk project. Keep up the great videos.
I think I'll make a DIY with just my hand saw and screw driver 😂 ... This dude used like 5-7 different professional tools. In a professional room....but 10000% credit to his skill! Great work
GET PLANS to build your own: fixthisbuildthat.com/closetorganizerplans
What type of mask do you use?
This link for the plans does not work
I want this plan too how n what’s include in it
What is the max horizontal cut on your miter saw? Any reason you dont have a sliding miter saw? Im looking to buy. Just curious. Thanks
how long did it take you to complete this project?
i like how it seems easy if you have your own home depot of tools in your house
Exactly
You can actually buy those two pieces
I know i just watched a guy say he "make your own vanity for a fraction of a price," but then proceeded to uses thousands of dollars of equipments.
You don't need a fancy shop like he has ... LMAO I was thinking the samething
"this is the last time it's ever gonna look this nice" - love the honesty. :D

I laughed when he said that 🤣🤣🤣
216 haters... I didn't see anything wrong with this video. I really liked it. People are so hard to please 🤦♀️🙆♀️🤦♀️🙆♀️

I think some of the thumbs down might be accidents, since the buttons are sorta close and gray/hard to see. Maybe?! Hopefully.
This guy is a beast!
he is a professional and has several videos

I said the same thing growing up. Now I have dozens of unfinished home projects. ☕ Beauty of home ownership.

Thanks so much Michael! Good luck with the kitchen cabinet!
What a makeover brad! You nailed this one!

The portrait of Chewy...!! Nice upgrade Brad!
My boy loves Chewy and Porg!
super video! I love that you show the things that didn't quite work out because that is 50% of woodworking.
Thank you for these videos. This one made me think I can actually attempt to follow the tutorial.
Bro I enjoyed this. I am going to do this now. I hate dressers out in the open. You just gave me some home improvement idea's to make my house a better investment. Thank you Sir.
you bet!

This is almost exactly what we sketched up for what we wanted to do for our bedroom closets! Thanks for the video, looking forward to the plans.
The video is awesome. I'm just always blown away by how many tools there are.
not all needed, but make it easier!
I really appreciate seeing people actually use their safety gear! It's so rare on RUclips, and a good reminder that these tools can be quite dangerous, even if we're very familiar with them.

This is the inspiration I needed to build a table saw in the garage 💪🏼

Who’s watching this at at end of 2022 and is crying at the plywood prices compared to when this gentleman filmed this video.
Excellent work. I need this in a closet at home. Fancy flying to Scotland and building it for me?😂😂❤
you make it look so simple. would love to see some videos with budget basic tools for beginners. I would love to build things but dont want to spend too much on tools before gaining some confidence.
It’s easy when you have all the necessary tools. Great job
That's a huge transformation! Nice Chewie/Porg print in there
Thanks, David!
really nice method of locating those dowel holes! pro tip
It worked out way better than I thought it would 😂😂
Nicely done, as always Brad.
thank you!
I wish I can have your shop, that make every think easier, thanks for the tutorial ❤
Nice clean job 👍 14:34 😆
Making a master closet so this is good timing, that in itself deserves a like. (already a long time subscriber).
good luck with the project, Richard!
I use the Radiata Pine plywood all the time. It's $30.95 at my big orange store. Multi layers but like Brad said get a straight flat sheet it will not, will not flatten out. Did I mention it will not flatten out? Great build Brad.
yeah, best get it flat and build fast :)
Super awesome build! Peace and Good Fortune to you and your family.
Nicely done Brad! Your projects & videos are always top notch...... 👍👍👍👍
Appreciate it Steve!
You're a good builder, friend. Good job. I have much to learn from you.
Looks great Brad!
thanks!

Appreciate the tips on setting up drawer faces and pulls. Now I want to build a dresser to try it. Lol
you bet!
Finally an easy and explained way to make a cabinet! TY!
This was helpful, engaging, and yes, I have adjusted shelves so those holes you drilled may just come in handy some day!
Occasionally I adjust my shelving.
Another great tutorial. Thank you

Very much enjoyed this video. Lots of useful tips and adaptations to problems that arose. Thanks so much for creating it.
Looks nice. Great work.

Great job and beautiful and nice finished
DYI CLOSET?!! That’s another level of DYI 🥲🥲
You did an amazing job dad! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
So timely! I just tore out the same horrible white shelving and am prepating to remodel our closet!
awesome, hope this helps!
It looks really nice 👍
Thanks!
Thanks for the tip on the plywood! I'm about to build a tv stand and usually just go with the nicer purebond stuff, but this is going to be painted.
Looks great Brad. I made my entire miter station with that HD Pine plywood. Looks pretty good with clear.
yeah, it's a decent sheet of ply!
A lot of better than before. Thanks for sharing.
they are not up yet. Coming tomorrow
Wish my husband or myself knew how to work as you do. Congratulations, your work is neat too
Amigo me gusta mucho todos tus proyectos Dios te bendiga mucho!!!
Awesome job! Thanks for sharing! 👍
Wouldn't it be easier to just caulk the gap with a matching colour to hide the wall imperfections?
Very good instructional video young man! However, as a single (seasoned) woman........I don’t EVEN have tools to think of trying something like this! LOL I love power tools, but nothing at this level!
Bro you make it look so easy 😭
I am here trying to wrap my head around all this info also I don’t have all the fancy tools you have 😅
Omg! Nice work. Now I may have to get my husband to take some classes lol
Great tip for installing drawer fronts!
So talented. Thanks for sharing
I really like your clips:) awesome craftsmanship and humour:)
Thanks, Michal!
Nice work there, that looks great.
thanks, Jeff!
Awesome makeover👍 nice Job as usual.
thank you!
I will try your suggestion to temporarily attach the drawer front with screws through the handle screw holes. Smart idea.
I have been watching your video since i bought a house, i want fix some of thing myself just like you. But it’s really task. Man, how did you manage all those tools and machines? How can we learn lot of those tricks and skills??
Beautiful work. The only adjustable shelves that I have changed are the ones in my fridge.
oh yeah, I've changed those too
The K5 is awesome, I upgraded from the Harbor Freight jig and it's night and day.
Oh yeah, this K5 is so nice
Making beats with that squeaky door 🎶
dropping those beat! lol
Your explanations were great here, simple and to the point, I just purchased the plans, thanks for the channel!
I would like to try recessing the slide hardware into the panels to gain back another half inch of drawer space.
You are amazing! You make building look easy. You have given me ideas for my daughters side by side closets in her room. 🤗🤗🤗❤️
🌜🌝🌛
Hi I'm Khalid from Orlando Florida i like you're videos
Love it. Looks great.
thanks, Eddie!
Awesome work, looks amazing!
Thanks!
Great video, Brad. The CFO of the household wants me to do this, but i need to get rid of those crap bifold doors on the closet first.
a sliding barn door would be cool!
Just published the plans! fixthisbuildthat.com/closetorganizerplans
Like literally, I made my husband to watch all of your videos. Because I want all these diys in my house !!!!!!! 1:33
Great video, thanks for sharing!. I wish I could actually build this in 14:49 minutes!
Watching this as if I could actually make it lolol Still, it's always nice to learn. It turned out great!
Great video!! Love your thorough explanations
thanks, Elliott!
I think it would help to have a diagram of where you are while assembling or cutting. A small picture in the corner highlighting which part of the frame your on will help everyone a bunch in following along. Very well done still!
Talented guy keep up the good work
Wow! Very nice work😊This is exactly what I want, and that’s exactly how my current closet looks like 😮
Lo que necesito para mi cuarto! Quedo super
Nice, a little bit more fancy than my $100 closet build. I challenge you to make a $1,000 master closet. I would love to see our comparisons. Cheers!
amazing. I wish I had the tools to do this. ... Unfortunately I have to stick with ikea pax system along with some DIY hanger bars..
Keep up the great videos.
yes, I absolutely need to start spraying more!
Eeeeasy!... Piece of Cake!
I think I'll make a DIY with just my hand saw and screw driver 😂 ... This dude used like 5-7 different professional tools. In a professional room....but 10000% credit to his skill! Great work
Great video 👍
thanks. Brian!
