    Its weird to see basically an exotic trans set up behind a “stock block and head” engine lol, that would be awesome in the old blue pinto behind you. The black car looks like it should move out, the Pinto not so much lol. Love the content man, not many of you 2.3 guru’s left and glad you are willing to share your knowledge with us.....no matter if its failure or success its all usable knowledge.

    What trans? I need the shifter located closer to the firewall. So a toploader wshorttail shift or a tremec tkx ?

    • @2300gearjammer
      @2300gearjammer  2 года назад +1

      You'd have to measure whichever fits best for you but the gearing of a low 1st tkx would be better all around for a 2.3

    So I just got a TKX. In your opinion. Clutch and flywheel? 90% street use. Aluminum flywheel or steel? Clutch disc material? Thanks

    • @2300gearjammer
      @2300gearjammer  2 года назад +1

      Sort of depends on the power level but if under 350whp I'd use a stock diameter clutch for a 2.3 and a steel flywheel.
      Anything approaching or over 400whp starts needing a 10.5" diameter 5.0 clutch. You can do an aluminum flywheel in that and be ok but the heavier the better for a daily driver.
      Now that I think about it, that tkx will probably need a 5.0 bell housing anyway

  • @gerryseamans7971
    @gerryseamans7971 2 года назад +1

    Thanks, Well here is a new one . I pickup a Lake Wood bell housing and a Power Master high output starter at a car show Only to find out it is a 157T . Do you think this clutch and fly wheel would work OK with a TKO or TKX ? I'm looking at the Ram #98794HDT and alum.
    Fly wheel . Have a great day!!!

    • @2300gearjammer
      @2300gearjammer  2 года назад +1

      Yeah absolutely. Stinger sells a 157T Spec flywheel for a 10.5" clutch. Ive run that in a few different setups and that's what I'll run in the pinto by the end of the year hopefully.

    • @2300gearjammer
      @2300gearjammer  2 года назад +1

      It's sort of weird. It drives incredibly nice but it slips a little when you take off. It needs rpm to really hold. I could see it being a bigger problem in a V8 car that actually makes torque off idle

    Hey Matt, does the Canfield adapter allow plug and play use of a V8 T5 (with the appropriate pilot bearing)?

    • @2300gearjammer
      @2300gearjammer  2 года назад

      You need the correct swap flywheel and then just make sure the input shaft is long enough. A V8 t5 pilot diameter is too big to fit a bearing so I'd have that machined done

    • @mchristr
      @mchristr 2 года назад

      @@2300gearjammer Let's see if I have this correct. You have an adapter plate, a 164-tooth steel flywheel drilled for a 2.3 crank and 11" pressure plate (but using a 10.5" disc), a Lakewood Ford-style scattershield, and a Doug Nash with a GM (0.590") pilot diameter input shaft.
