I truly believe that you’re the best scientifically testing and proving person on RUclips. Even if not, by and far my favorite videos to watch so thank you.
About the oil pickup tube, Mustang IIs have a front sump. I picked up a 78 Mustang II a couple weeks ago with a 2.3. Getting it running so I can drive it before I do racecar stuff.
I do have a crown Vic driveshaft but I have a hard decision to make on that. I may have to get a driveshaft made which for me means having two made because I double on everything.
Sweet man we are finally about to see the pinto in action, woohoo . Thanks for the shout out man and you're probably the only one that could make me look smart because I can't do it for myself trust me I have already tried 🤣😂 looks like you might have to go get a inch knocked off of that drive shaft at the local welding shop. That is what I usually do anyway but I got lucky and found a 44 3/4" aluminium driveshaft on Ebay that I was able to make work and there is just enough room for the movement that it needs. Ill look really quick on Ebay and see if that guy has another one that will work because he had several that came off of race cars which is what mine came off of . Anyway I figured that I would leave ya a good long comment for old times sake so i figured that I would find something to babble on because I couldn't leave a short comment and leave ya hanging 🤣😂🤣 hey if you run across a 71 only rear half hatch window for a pinto let me know I need the glass out of it or go ahead and get it and I will pay u for it and even slide ya a few extra to boot 😉 I want to get rid of this full glass hatch that I have and I already have the half hatch just need the window for it 😁👍🏼 ok i think this comment is long enough so ill shut the hell up now 😂🤣😂🤣 BYE
I have a big decision to make whether I even want to go to alum for this. That will make sense later. I should have measured 6 months ago so I could've been searching already.
@@2300gearjammercan you get that one shortened, if not i have one that I can get shortened for ya and and send it to ya. Ive had several done and they worked flawlessly and it's cheap to get done?
I found you a drive shaft on Ebay that is 44 1/2 " from the same guy that I got my driveshaft from. MrDirt50 is the seller's name and he's quick on shipping. It came from a dirt race car or something and it is like 80 bucks to your door
I actually was surprised to see that run mobile one in the grand marquis... I would think you would run motorcraft or super tech 30 weight... Also surprised you didn't use the oil out of the bucket truck
When my coworkers find out I used to fix cars for a living (long ago), they ask me what oil I recommend. The answer is always the same: Whatever is on sale. Love the videos so keep 'em coming.
About your 2.3l turbo mustang: Is it too much to ask, what type of wheels and tires setup you’re using on the rear..? I’m curious to use 15x9x28 or 15”x9.5” - 28.0” Wheel =? Width =? Tires=? What would you consider for my setup? I know a lot of people don’t like sharing their builds info, for racing and personal privacy. I’m just looking around for suggestions from anyone that can help my son and I project. Thank you.
Hey I want to measure to make sure I tell you correctly for the wheels but I run 15x8 and 15x10s weld prostars. The tires are ET Drag 28x10.50s and Hoosier quick time pro DOT 28x11.50
@@2300gearjammer It turned bad this time around. Where I cut was almost to where it stepped up to a larger diameter and the yoke didn't fit tight enough and it moved on me. So I found a place near me and had them shorten my original Pinto driveshaft. To go from the T5 slip yoke to Pinto driveshaft use a Moog 253 u joint
Agh. At least you got it. My 44.5" steel shaft showed up yesterday. Ill probably have to run two different conversion ujoints but I typically have those on the shelf
Was that a Lakewood V8 bell housing? In my 79 pinto Im planning a Cleveland with a TKX. Debating on the Quicktime Mustang II bell housing for more room. I'd like to stay SFI compliant, not sure that one is. Cutting my car up to make a better option fit is surely on the table. Quicktime is $$$.
It was a SFI approved Lakewood bell t5 to sbf. Ive collected a few of those over the years before the QuickTime came out. You're right though, with the more angled transition the QT would have a way better chance to fit. Shewy they are spicy. . 💰💰💰
😂 it's far worse. I was a Ford tech in a previous life. There is no escaping it with this car. If I turn a camera on this seems to happen every single time.
If your going to use an adjustable engine mount why don't you use the stock driveshaft that you have an abundance of? I mean it's going in a straight line handling or weight distribution couldn't be to far off?
That's a great question and a bunch asked that during this pinto build. It sucks to need a driveshaft for the slow engine but the turbo engine would need the shorter DS. This car is actually going to do a bunch more than drag race but I still need the engine back as far as I can get it.

😂 thanks but I've just begun to Science!
I find humor in the, FINNALY, done doing wiring. My son hates me. Lol
😂😂😂
Flex seal the oil pan. 🤙
🎯🎯🎯 I don't have any so it might get gorilla tape for now.
Still not (quite done) well done. Love your Chanel.
"done" ...ish. 😆💩💩💩
Oh and thanks. Haha the channel is more work than I ever imagined.

Yeah pinto and mustang ii are the same parts. Not real easy to find
Bro just make sure to keep posting, don’t give up the videos
Thanks! 💪💪
That will probably be one of the best running 2.3s in the southeast lol
😂 or die trying.
Grab a $40 aluminum Crown Vic, Aerostar etc DS and get it shortened if you want a cheap stocker but the CV shaft is 3-1/2” iirc
I do have a crown Vic driveshaft but I have a hard decision to make on that. I may have to get a driveshaft made which for me means having two made because I double on everything.

Well Trevor just put new oil in the bucket truck so I wouldn't dare waste it on the pinto 😂 it does leak pretty bad though
When my coworkers find out I used to fix cars for a living (long ago), they ask me what oil I recommend. The answer is always the same: Whatever is on sale. Love the videos so keep 'em coming.
😂 💯 my dually is the only thing that's gets a particular brand and if I'm in a jamb I'll change that too.
I only run Redline Group V Ester Synthetic oil in all my engines.
I actually do like redline stuff. I run heavyshock proof in the Mustang transmission.

Thunderbird driveshaft 79 to 81
Oh geez. Haha. I wonder if I can dig one of those up
Im surprised you had a clean oil catch pan
😂 parts of the shop are less dysfunctional than the pinto build.
Ahh, I guess I am not the only "mechanic" that has to redo stuff because I left a part out or it broke putting it together. Thanks for this episode.

That will be the longest lasting engine you have…
Every engine I never cared once about has always outlived the ones I was proud of
😂 I would typically agree but I have a 50lb bag of sand and a vacuum hose that says otherwise.
Read: OA5 upside down! 😂
😆
Do you have or know where to get a 2.3 T5 input shaft? I’m not having much luck around where I live.
I don't know offhand. Id look to whoever is local with a bunch of 5.0 mustang stuff since they break the most 4cyl t5s
