Is the 2.3 known to be good or bad? I got a mint 97 ranger with a 2.3 and only 100k miles.. in great condition but she is kinda slow for moden traffic. Dont know what to do with her

    • @trashman1694

@@Dvyara The 2.3 is extremely reliable, my 1994 has 333,000 miles on it, but yes it is also extremely slow haha. If you can put up with it being slow it is a great small truck to have since it's so reliable and decent on gas, for a pickup anyway. See what gears are in your rear end, mine has 3.73 but I think 4.10 would be better even with stock size tires.

Cam across this video by happenstance and truly enjoyed it. Question's 1. How much "real" power can I get out of a turbo 2.3L for the street? 400, 500, 600HP? And, 2: What cam should I run?

Now with today's technology the 2.3 l EcoBoost out of a modern mustang I believe is putting out 310 horsepower and that's quite a bit more than the stock 302 from the mid to late 80s through the 90s . Any chance you plan on building a ranger 2.5 for turbo? I have a 95 ranger that I want to boost it with a T56 trans. Shooting for 600 to the tire. Just have to figure out what EFI system with display.

I think 9's would be an awesome goal, it'll be tough to launch and drive though.
