Hey man, just found your channel. You’ve earned yourself another subscriber, great videos👌🏽. Something different I tried this year during the time of overseed was delaying the fertilizer app (about a week or so later when I started seeing signs of germination). I found that fert doesn’t affect the speed of germination, and if anything, early application makes the existent turf grow quicker/thicker earlier than I want. It’s really 💦💦💦 that makes all the difference.
Thank you for the kind words words Grasshole! Hilarious name by the way. Interesting.. I’ll have to try that out next year. You’re exactly right. If it dries, it dies.
Very thorough instructional video…with a little humor thrown in!! I would only add one suggestion for best aeration….you get a much deeper plug if you can time this after a good rain or deep watering. Great information for a beautiful lawn!!
How much sq ft do you have for your front lawn? I heard you mention that 2 of those hose sprinklers is enough and I’m wondering if I can get away with hose sprinklers too! (I’m at about 11,500 square feet total front yard and back yard).
No landscaper will charge $30 to bring either a $5,000 walk behind aerator that is insanely labor intensive, or a $15,000 ride on aerator to spend 30-90 minutes aerating, packing and unpacking, gas, and beat up their machine. For any customer.
@@TheLawnReviewthose compact more than they aerate. To loosen the ground, material need to be pulled up in cores, not pressed down with spikes. But that’s exactly it. If you’re getting a quality job done right, it shouldn’t cost that low. Same with thatching. If all the appropriate steps are taken to actually do a professional job, the time and equipment price alone will not be $100. If it is, then any time saved or equipment not used for low cost will be made up for in lack of quality.
@@EastCoastReeferwe do 3 lbs per 1000 sq ft of raw, uncoated PA premium grass seed. We charge roughly $13 per 1000 sq ft (retail with installation). Or $4.33 per pound. So for 12k it would be about $156 in grass seed alone. My core aeration for 12k would be $275 A thorough, bagged prep now to get lawn length to 2.5” or as low as possible would be another $100 as it takes time and creates lots of debris. Then to thoroughly thatch the yard and clean up + haul away we would charge $401.70. That is diligently thatching, double passing, quickly laying tack straw in any bare patches, and using a rake or bristle broom for areas the machine doesn’t fit. Then we’d also recommend blasting with nitrogen and phosphorus applicators to make grass bounce back. That would cost roughly the same price as the seed did. So yeah $750 is very reasonable in my opinion. Probably about 4 man hours or more if done correctly with care and taking pride.
I never use mechanical Dethatch. I use N-EXT dethatch throughout the yr. Its just as good. I never user mecahnical aeration. I use N-EXT Air8 with Jonathan Green Love your soil

You're not wrong! I forgot to mention that!
This was so needful and so totally well done! It will become a classic.
Thank you, Mark!
Would you recommend putting starter fertilizer once you put the seed down i already put down Scott’s winter fertilizer
love how he said 1k subs and he has 25k now thats what its about consistency in the lawn and in YT is key
Thank you! Very kind words. Appreciate it.
Very detailed presentation. Thanks!
Thanks, Joel!
Tremendous vid. Thanks
Its like $300 to $400.00 for a landscaping company to come in and aerate. About 5000 to 8 k SQ ft.
How about weed preventers, I have mesotrione can I use that one ? And if yes how long do I wait before applying it.

Yeah 2 can definitely cover you
Thank you!
Any time
Why no top soil?

Yeah, that had me scratching my head. I was quoted $750, but it included overseeding (12K sq/ft).
I have a tow behind aerator from AgriFab that ran me like $300. I’d gladly do it for that much!
I had a guy dethatch and aerate for 100$ here in Central Valley California not everyone is out to get one over one ya I guess.

What about fungus area that has died
Cool haha!!
Thank you!
My grass seed label instructions indicate that fertilizer is applied before the seed...comments?
Hi Nicholas! Thanks for the question! It doesn’t matter which order you put them down. Especially if you apply one right after the other.
@@TheLawnReview ok....I do like the Andersons fertilizer products and have used them for the past 3 years!
Oh yeah… I love that they add humichar too. The Anderson’s is awesome

Is that the spray? How do you like it?
$30 for someone to aerate? No way. Great video though.
