My yard is that hard dry clay soil, looks like an earthquake hit my yard, seriously. It seriously hurts to walk on my yard, lol. I've gotten crab grass under control but this year I had poa annua pretty heavy throughout my yard. I want to start smoothing my yard out with some sand/ sand soil mix but i just don't know when ro start with having ro always put down a pre-emergent plus wanting to aerate and overseed when I don't put down a pre-emergent. Any suggestions on when would be the best time ro level my yard out some? Thanks for all the videos, they're awesome. Congrats on the SLS deal also! Looks good

I live in Central MN Ryan and just wondering when I should stop fertilizing for the year. I'm using the bio stim package, 3 ounces per 1000 of all 4 products, every 30 days, along with Carbon X. I just don't want to push growth when the yard should be getting ready for winter. Thanks in advanced and love the chanel!

@@workinprogress5936 I think your wife and my wife might be sisters! "Why are you always watching those lawn thingy videos?"
I said, "This is the reason we have all ONE KIND of grass in our lawn and everyone else has a SALAD BAR of WEEDS!" At first, the neighbors LAUGHED, but now they LAMENT, come to my door and say, "Teach us the way to a lawn like you have!"
And I point them in Ryan's direction.
Quick question, Ryan: How many mowers and spreaders DO you actually have? Did you ever consider taking them all out and laying them in your yard for a photograph like the military jets do with all their armaments? Might also be good to have for insurance purposes if something ever goes sideways...

As does mine, my kids do too, and my neighbors wonder what I do for a living because I spend more time in the yard than I do anywhere else. Our yard looked great all through the Summer drought and heat and still rocks, the mail man is afraid to walk on the grass and it makes me feel like I am doing something safe and positive. I will tell you what, it sure beats pounding sand 😁🎖.Keep watching brother, keep learning, and keep applying!💪

I have two patches of lawn on the sides of my driveway, the patch on the left has problem of bare spots that I have been unable to fix even after trying almost everything, like completely replacing and raising the soil, over seeding etc., and adding fuel to the fire, now we have skunk digging deep holes. Now that we are heading into fall I would appreciate your advice and suggestions. I am in Staten Island, NY. Thanks, Shahzad

Awesome Tips!!! I have some questions. If I overseed in September, I put down a half of N in August and full rate (1lbs) of starter fertilizer(+organic fertilizer) ?, then 4 weeks later a half pound of N ? or keep a half pound of N every 2 weeks ?

Fall N BLITZ!!! I just threw down .75 lbs last weekend. Doing another .5 next weekend as well. And maybe one more into October. Trying to get this new kbg established and push it hard. Not too much top growth yet just a lot of “sprout and pout”.

Thanks Ryan! Would you recommend fert plan #1 (.5 lbs nitrogen every 2 weeks) even for a newly seeded lawn? I put down XST x-start on same day as seeding (8-24-4) - should I start putting down the nitrogen plan 2 weeks after seeding and every 2 weeks there on?

why do you still use a small low budget scotts spreader/ Not hating or anything I love your work but less spreaders are well worth the money and provide elite spreader patterns and durability.

Another great video! I recently moved to a new home and my lawn is hurting bad. I know I can bring it back but I not sure what tod with these 2 large pine trees. It blocks most of the sunlight in my front lawn and pine needles and pine cones everywhere. Any tips or recommendations for growing a lawn around pine trees and lots of shade? Might be another idea for a video

Hi Ryan, I really like to watch your videos. You explain everything clearly and add some clips or photos during talking 👍 I like that a lot! Some other videos from others are so boring and long without anything in between. I've been trying to take care of my lawn by myself too (for 10 years now) but not as good as you do to your lawn. You're awesome!!! And about 4,5 years ago some haters decided to pure grass killer on the side of the house (which we can't see it from inside) !!!! They can't stand the fact that my lawn is greener than theirs. It took me a long time to fix that area. Now we have 5,6 cameras around our house to catch them if we needed. It's sad.

You are an excellent communicator, Ryan. Very knowledgeable, well spoken, with a sincere love for what you do. Hats off to you. Keep up the good work. Now...my question-how do you get the beautiful striped pattern on your lawn? I have seen this and admired it on pro baseball fields, but don’t know how to achieve it. Also, you inspired me to prepare, sort of, one side of my lawn, which had been entirely taken over by some wiry, blue-green weedy grass, and reseed it to hopefully achieve a beautiful lawn. I used to call it crabgrass, but it is not that. But it’s very common in my area, western WV (Huntington). Anyway, I put glyphosate on it, mowed it low, raked it, and reseeded, then watered. I will be anxiously awaiting a beautiful, late fall lawn. Thanks again.

Hey Ryan! Thanks for all your info great stuff! I live in Central New Jersey outside Philly. Thatched aerated and over-seeded on Sept. 19th. I then had a new area of grass on the side of house that I just seeded on Oct 5 after killing off weeds. Everything is looking great now!! What is my next step and when? What do you suggest I do?

Great Video. Here is my question can I incorporate over seeding and seeding bare spots in this program? If so when should I seed? I was thinking after dethatching is when I should over seed and seed bare spots. Please let me know what you think.

Looking at over-seeding soon...I saw you need to wait 30 days before or after seeding to apply the the Simple Solutions liquid aeration product. Do you think I really need to wait a month to seed when using it?

So I put down fertilizer about ten days ago and noticed a big pop in my ground ivy and wild violet. I've been working to kill this off most of the spring and into the summer. Is this common? Should I attack these weeds again now or will they die off over the winter?

Hi Ryan. Question - I am off to a bit of a late start on my first reno. I have sharpened my blades and have done a short mow, (about 1.5"), but my lawn has a good amount of moss in some areas, do you have any tips for that? I am worried that if I power rake all of the grass will come out with it. Thanks.

Hey Ryan, this is my first fall in my house and plan on applying Tenacity to my entire lawn as there is a fair amount of weed growth. How long after applying the tenacity should I wait to thatch and overseed, and then how long after that should I wait to apply the fast release fertilizer? Also, should I not be applying milorganite now since it is slow release? Thank you for the awesome videos!

Thanks for another great video Ryan. Questions ... with most of my lawn going dormant during this dray hot summer in Illinois should I fertilize now as we have cooler weather and rain now? Then how long should I wait until dethatch, aerate, overseeding. Then how long to wait for the final fertilizer. Thanks in advance!

Do you have a video on taking your kbg yard from rotary mow to reel or the pros and cons of lowering your mower. Obviously we’ve hear now high as you can. I see lots of guys now going pretty low knowing you have to mow more frequently. Got any education for me?
