The best part is that the card stack actually changes size as if she's actually adding cards throughout the conversation.
I feel like that waitress and dan randomly have chemistry across the series. Theres one episode where she gives him an angry look after he spits on the floor. But then he says "my friends were bagging on superman again" and she's immediately fine with it and says "I understand completely"

Does that mean that the Potterverse is what the Middle Earth world eventually evolved into after so many thousands of years? Are the House Elves what Tolkein's Elves devolved into after human wizards became more and more plentiful and unconsciously corrupted the sources of magic to their own mortal likings? Is Voldemort the result of Gandalf reincarnating himself over and over, trying to fix the corruption, only to become the ultimate victim of it himself?
plucas1 I have to admit that would make for an interesting theory if not for the fact that the geography for each franchise just doesn't add up to support that.
Then maybe it's the Potterverse version of the Grey Havens that Harry stumbled into in book seven after "dieing". The halls of Mandos represented by a fucking ghostly train station.
Glenn A according to Tolkein himself it doesn't matter. As Tolkein envisioned Arda (middle earth is just a part of the Arda) to be the past of our own world.
Fury already knew about aliens, even without meeting Captain Marvel, he already had the tesseract, something his scientists would find to be alien. Plus the "Avengers" was hinted at by the end of the second hulk movie, Shield wanted "Avengers" because Stark, Hulk and probably mutants (deadpool and helicarrier) were beginning to pop up. Its a plan to defend or avenge against it.
He could have worn a trench coat for the post office shit. Not like people in that area will ask you a lot of questions about your appearance. They don't wanna know. But John Doe must have actually been super psyched how well his thing was developing. Now assuming he was always going to put himself as envy and then another guy as wrath, he couldn't have wished for a better candidate than Brad Pitt, the angry detective investigating him.
He could donned a trench coat, but the bloody, bandaged fingers would require a do-over. Like they said, not even a smudge of death of the package that was delivered.
No, Dan's point still stands. We're talking about Nick wanting to build a team of superheroes. What superheroes? That's his point, that Nick doesn't know there are other superheroes around. He's got Iron Man and maybe the Hulk, if he can find some way to keep the Hulk under control. That's not much of a team. And when he's telling them all about why he wanted to make them into a team in the first place, he doesn't say "'Cause I've met aliens, and they can do all kinds of weird shit". Nope, he tells them the team was in response to Loki, which it absolutely was in that movie.

With regard to Fury and The Avenger's Initiative in the MCU, I like to think that, because Shield was being controlled by Hydra, it would make sense that Shield/Hydra would want to recruit meta-humans from all around the world. After seeing how successful Shield was with the program that developed Captain America, Hydra would be more than willing to fund Fury's idea to develop a team of what would essentially be Captain America Plus Ultras. Not to mention that Hydra has has a history of chasing after meta-humans, with Red Skull and Winter Soldier being their knock-off Captain Americas, and the creation of Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch from experimentation with the Tesseract. With a documented interest in creating meta-humans, Fury's suggestion to recruit existing meta-humans just makes sense as an extension from their previous work and lead in to future projects.
They don't explicitly say it in the movie, but Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch are Magneto's children. They just haven't introduced mutants into the MCU yet, so of course they wouldn't *call* them "mutants".
Captain America existed and the whole hydra and the tesseract thing happened in the 40's. Fury knew this and also knew that somewhere in the universe there was a race of beings with the power to create the tesseract, as far as he could know. He was preparing. The scope for his Avengers Initiative needed only that much motivation. He pre-empted Iron Man Tony starks obsession in Ultron about the upcoming war and got a head start on them. Not to mention the Frost Giants attack and the Asgardian intervention and all the happenings in the eighties concerning Peter Quills abduction. Shield is shown in Antman to be up and running by the at least the late 70's and probably was in the midst of collating any and all data about off world species and potential threats.
Also, the word is that the Captain Marvel movie coming in the next year or two will take place during the 1990's, where Nick Fury will be in it and will NOT have an eye patch. The shape shifting Skrulls are going to be the villains of the movie.
Nunt UH. No way. Nope. (I dunno. I didn't read what you wrote other than the first few words then saw how long it was and figured you really over-nerded whatever you said. Thx!)

Arwa al-suwailem Well they takes turns, so since you know the old crew did this one, the new crew will be doing the next one, and then the old crew in the one after that, and so on.
Also the events of STAR TREK: THE WRATH OF KHAN, THE SEARCH FOR SPOCK, and THE VOYAGE HOME, Kirk loses his admiral ranking, finds out he has a son, then watches his son die, and then watches Spock die, and then watches Spock resurrected, then time travels to 1986 and back to the 23rd century, and then becomes admiral again. All of this happens in, like, a week or two for Kirk.
Umm actually, Kirk doesn't loose his admiral ranking until after he came back from 1986 and he never regained it. He as still a captain upon retirement and when he was later swept into the Nexus. Also in the beginning of Voyage Home Kirk states they've been on Vulcan for three months.
doesn't matter. The topic is about movies with confusing timelines, and the X-Men movies have a timeline that is frustrating to understand, even if you are a comic book/comic book movie expert
I miss After Hours. CATain (oops-Captain) Marvel helps explain Nick Fury's big week. And, in a similar vein with Back to the Future, Thor Ragnarok happens over the course of a few days, which leads immediately into Infinity War. Thor barely had any sleep except for being knocked out. (When Valkyrie first catches him, the Devil's Anus, and after the ship exploded.)
My theory on Se7en is this: John Doe planned and began a year ago. However that doesn't mean he's already done Envy and Wrath. Perhaps he was meant to be Wrath in the end? So instead of 2 bodies lying around he had 1 (possibly 2) more murders planned but not executed until he met Dtc. Mills. He did change his plans, as we were told in the movie. So it's possible that there wasn't 2 more bodies, only 1 or 2 more planned murders.
You guys are funny. I mean seriously, I laugh at every one of your episodes. But this one was the best. There are so many great zingers in this one. Seriously, everyone is really on point in this episode. And Katie with that cat-culator sign off at the end was perfect. I really enjoy these shows, but extra kudos to you for this episode. Loved it.
Um actually, the Avenger Initiative was to bring together individuals with special abilities -not necessarily super powers. Also Fury did know about aliens as 1. They had the tesseract which they knew was alien in origin. 2. They had a Kree corpse in storage as part of Project Tahiti. 3. (we haven't seen it yet but...) Captain Marvel was already around. (the upcoming film is said to be taking place in the 90's)
You're mixing up points of reference. Metatextually, yes, the Captain Marvel movie hadn't been conceived of, much less greenlit. Textually, however, Nick Fury knows who Carol Danvers is at the point he proposes the Avenger Initiative
Mike Clark you also got to remember the age of the video. Sure the theory is debunked now but at the time of the video’s publishing a CM movie wasn’t announced yet, if it was it wasn’t released it’s part of the timeline being before even the first Ironman movie.
Well John Doe could have decided in advance that Envy was his sin, and that he wanted Rage to be the guy who kills him. Part of his manifesto is that the whole world is corrupt, that the victims are not that particularly chosen, but that it could be anyone. It would probably be a big thing for him that mostly anyone could be driven to kill in rage if you push them the right way. He could have decided to use Mills for Rage during their chase, that's why he spares his life, he's like "yesss, this one will do.." and starts planning how he can get envious at him and drive him to killing.
Also, is it a good idea to break in to Starks house to and hide out in the dark when the last guy there tried to kill him? What if Tony has a glove on him?
Yay ! A new After Hours! But why no "After Hours" in the title? And both groups are great! Each have their own lil quirks that make them both fun to watch.
New guys just haven't been in much. Except for Cody, who has already BEEN in the After Hours, as the government guy who wipes the team's memories -which is why they alredy remember 80 nights, when a lot more time has in fact passed.
So they fixed it by changing the continuity several years after the fact? I mean retcons make comic book worlds go round so it was natural to happen in the movies too. The problem is that means literally no criticism of any of the movies matters more than maybe a year.
In defense of Nick Fury planning/funding the Avengers prior to having any plausible reason to do so, I present to you the F-35, billion dollar jet that no one asked for! Other than that, so happy you guys and After hours is back! IDK if you really went anywhere or if I just stopped watching for a while but damn it if I was dying from cancer, my make-a-wish would be to sit with yall and chat about movies!! Love this show
Michael can thank Daniel for that. In an earlier episode, they were out camping while discussing scary movies. Daniel points out that there are no successful American horror movies that took place in a city. Kate then says, "Friday The 13th VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan!" Daniel replied, "Have you seen that movie? No, you haven't." And here we are with Kate obsessed over Friday The 13th driving Michael crazy. 😂😂😂😂😂🤣
How much time did Marty spend in 1955 the second time around? It'd have to be the better part of another week right? Arwa al-suwailem Well they takes turns, so since you know the old crew did this one, the new crew will be doing the next one, and then the old crew in the one after that, and so on.
The old ones where awkward in the beginning as well, give the new ones half a season or so to get over their initial awkwardness.
The other group has no chemistry at all!
There is a pattern to this....they alternate so every other AfterHours is the original cast.
I miss these little shows.
Lol... file that under who gives a shit.🤣Daniel you're the man.😎
It would be nice if the title indicated which crew we were going to see. The new crew is like nails on a chalkboard, this crew is funny and relatable.
True! But for Kirk? That's not *that* odd a week, he's had some seriously messed up weeks before.
Umm actually, Kirk doesn't loose his admiral ranking until after he came back from 1986 and he never regained it. He as still a captain upon retirement and when he was later swept into the Nexus. Also in the beginning of Voyage Home Kirk states they've been on Vulcan for three months.
If it only took us 2 months to get hooked on this cast, then we'll get used to the new cast in no time!
Best ending to an After Hours ever?
Fury knew about aliens since the 90s when he met Captain Marvel
I'm surprised you guys didn't bring up the timeline of the X-Men movies
Dr. Cinema xmen don't focus on a tangential timeline
doesn't matter. The topic is about movies with confusing timelines, and the X-Men movies have a timeline that is frustrating to understand, even if you are a comic book/comic book movie expert
Dr. Cinema they're working with more than one timeline, you can't follow it in a straight line since it branches.
You guys are truly brilliant , i see the small nuances and I love it
This showed up in my recommendations...
...wow, I miss this series.
Sadly, without *After Hours* our timeline doesn’t make sense.
Some people have already pointed it out but the MCU thing is "Fixed" by Captain Marvel, where Nick Fury knows about aliens and other threats.
I'm ALSO surprised you guys didn't bring up the timeline(s) created by the Terminator movies
Why Voldemort is secretly Gandalf? I want to hear about this SO MUCH.
The Catculator: Everyone Needs One Right Meow!
haha Super Troopers
I loved this show. Miss you guys!!
(the upcoming film is said to be taking place in the 90's)
just about to say that. plus ghost rider....whic isnt exactly an alien but supernatural
RJPolito I would say 3 is right but sadly irrelevant, this was the start of the MCU meaning CM movie wasn’t even a thought yet.
"Sixth..? Accidentally res-..? Trash." Is one of my favorite moments of this series. It reveals such a great moment from both characters.
"Absolute garbage."
"Did you see that katy? I diagreed!" Kek.
Ash Evil/dead comics totally takes advantage of them all in the same universe. Which also puts Hack/Slash into the same
I'm so glad their back thank god
Everyone else is here to comment on the MCU timeline, meanwhile I'm just here to listen to Michael call the Friday the 13th franchise "garbage".
The ability to go from Aliens to 7 deadly sins in less than 10 mins in a logical manner is EXACTLY why I love racked.com Keep it up!!
Also, is it a good idea to break in to Starks house to and hide out in the dark when the last guy there tried to kill him?
What if Tony has a glove on him?
This was such a neat format. It's kind of upsetting that there aren't more people using it.
you know how there is butter and there is margarine, like you prefer butter but you are ok with margarine.
"Catculator" hahaha, Katie, you're adorable.
Yay ! A new After Hours! But why no "After Hours" in the title?
And both groups are great! Each have their own lil quirks that make them both fun to watch.
incredible.
y'all caught us with our pants down.
love u guys
THE ORIGINAL GANG
Michael flipping out about the Friday the 13th lore while Katie explains is just the best! XD
Thank Odin you used the better cast for this!
After hours is one of the consistently funny shows. Every actor earns it.
DETECTIIIIIIIIIIIVE!
Chino Wantan He sounded like Jerry Lewis screaming "Mrs Ladeeeeeee!"
Man I miss these good old days
This crew is why I now watch Cracked consistently. New guys aren't terrible, but nothing close to this group.
New guys just haven't been in much. Except for Cody, who has already BEEN in the After Hours, as the government guy who wipes the team's memories -which is why they alredy remember 80 nights, when a lot more time has in fact passed.
Cody is fuckin hilarious..I hope Cod gets onto E.PCD with Dan & Soren
epcd was canceled mate... i know... it hurts
You're right, that totally hurts. I had no idea. 😕
Wasn't Cody already in an EPCD, standing in for Soren?
I forgot how much fun these were. I have to watch them all again!
Captain Marvel KINDA fixes the Marvel timeline complaint...
Love this show
mAn...I want to not like you guys so I can feel special about myeself...but you make it so hard. You guys are awesome!!
Just watch the new cast, they are easy to hate.
Its small beans and fuck u
My favorite part is Michael just hating the Friday the 13th movies 😂😂😂
Michael can thank Daniel for that. In an earlier episode, they were out camping while discussing scary movies. Daniel points out that there are no successful American horror movies that took place in a city. Kate then says, "Friday The 13th VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan!" Daniel replied, "Have you seen that movie? No, you haven't."
And here we are with Kate obsessed over Friday The 13th driving Michael crazy. 😂😂😂😂😂🤣
I like to call these guys the *good* cast. Or the original cast if you prefer.
10:15 Catculater 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂🤣
Bout time the real AH crew is back..not that cheap knockoff.
How much time did Marty spend in 1955 the second time around? It'd have to be the better part of another week right? They didn't get the DeLorean out of the mine, gets it mechanically back in order after 70 years of sitting in a mine and rebuild the time circuit control microchip as a vacuum-tube based replacement in one or two days.
