      Yeah they gave a pretty bad example when she's explicitly talking about spending on fighting the war, not building roads or something. Cersei really could not give less of a shit about regular people, if you don't have something she wants then you don't exist to her.

      futurestoryteller In all fairness, Margery was relatively invested in doing good deeds to make herself look good and have the people on her side. Granted, she helped people, but I don’t think it was entirely for the right reasons. I dunno tho, she might’ve harbored a secret affection for the poor that I didn’t catch.

    What about Dr. Doom? He is a ruler of a country that was slowly destroying hunger and poverty, and he does want the best for all people, I know is only in comics, but he went to an area that could only be entered by the pure of heart and was told by the panther god that basically only he could create a future where there wasn't suffering. seems pretty good to me. plus genius with robosuits

    • @Forestxavier20
      @Forestxavier20 2 года назад +12

      Legitimately Doctor Doom's only downfall is his lack of humility and his envy of Reed's life. The man had the power to rewrite the universes and shape them to be what they once were, but instead created a new Battleworld in a testament to himself, living the life he wanted, Sue as his wife with children and power. He kept around a scarred and mangled set of worlds rather than
      A. Realizing he was not a god and should not wield the power he possesses for his own personal gain
      B. Utilizing the power to fix the worlds and making them pure utopias with versions of himself within there to be effectively monitors and ensure they stay on the straight and narrow
      or C. Accepting that he could not fix this how another could and asking for help so he could utilize it to heal the worlds whilst making himself remain powerful.
      Doom is a genius and could save the world, but he is too proud to admit Reed is a better man and strive to better himself to the point that he *could* save the world. Doom has Lex Luthor Syndrome, he's a genius but there is a fundamental flaw within him that he blames on others to try and excuse his failings.

    4:50 I'm sure someone must have pointed this out by now, but the starvation was in direct correlation with Scars actions as leader of the Pride. He encourages the lions, hyenas, and presumably every other predator in the pride lands to consume more than they would have under Mufasa's reign.
    He did deliver on his promise to feed the pride lands, and in doing so the prey animals were hunted to dwindling numbers, if not near extinctions for the area. This is what forced Nala out past the wastes, and to the jungle where she finds Simba. Starvation due to over hunting and decimation of the food chain for years to come. We've seen parallels in human history which lead us to hunting/game laws, and agencies like the E.P.A.
    So yeah, that's why they "got more starving" and the Savannah was against him.

    • @Actionfan19

      The whole over hunting thing was why the Hyenas were banished to begin with.

    • @HelloItsMikkan
      @HelloItsMikkan Год назад +4

      Ummm constant predation doesn't equate to the fact that the surrounding suddenly had a Major Topographic shift . We never really know Why Scar's rule fail but we do see that there was a sudden drought that appeared within the pridelands.

    • @donovanfaust3227
      @donovanfaust3227 Год назад +1

      @@HelloItsMikkanyeah I was going to mention the drought too. That's not something anyone can control, as said best by Kelso from That 70s Show. And isn't it implied that the rain follows Simba since he is the "true" heir to the throne? Plus Mufasa is in the clouds, I wouldn't be surprised if he had a hand in damning the Prideland in order to undermine Scar from the afterlife. Regardless of all that though you're right that the film doesn't actually give a reason for why the Pridelands are messed up by Scar ruling over it. Certainly over hunting was never said by anyone.

    • @jangelaclough5457
      @jangelaclough5457 8 месяцев назад

      @@donovanfaust3227while the drought wasn't his fault, how he handled it is. When a drought comes, a true leader would've prioritized "moderation" and limiting how much predators are in order to make sure that prey can sustain their numbers. By allowing the hyenas to eat their fill, it made it so that numbers of to he prey would fall too fast.
      Also, it's possible that the environment was ruined by the fact that hyenas would eat everything and not leave anything to "continue the cycle of life"

    I think you mixed up Cersei and her father. Her father was the pragmatic, albeit ruthless ruler who kept the Seven Kingdoms in line during not one, but two civil wars. Cersei is the one who saw it all collapse in the time of relative peace brought about under Tywin's rule.

    • @raylast3873

    • @jangelaclough5457

      The biggest issue with cersei is that she was unable to compromise (mostly due to her inflated superiority complex thinking she's better than everyone else) and her inability to "think ahead". Perfect example is Margery. She refused to work alongside someone who threatened her rule and control over her kids. So, she gave power to the church without considering any of the ramifications (such as having THEM control her son, or come after her and all her skeletons, and ruining the relationship between the second strongest family in the kingdom) all in order for short term gain of "sticking it to" Margery and olena.
      Essentially, she gave nuclear weapons to a foreign country with the hope that they'll attack Canada, and not realizing that the foreign country can easily point them at us. (Ironically actually sounds like us foreign policy in a nutshell)

    Oh, fuuuuuck no, Soren. The Borg Queen is the worst leader the Borg have ever had. She got into power through presumably shady means and then proceed to completely violate all of the values of Borg society. She had emotions, individuality, and she was completely worthless as a leader because she repeatedly took away resources from valuable Borg projects to just chase after a ship or a person she had beef with. Not to mention that she showed a completely moronic disregard for the people she ruled over, going so far as to blow up an entire Borg cube full of tens of thousands of drones just because a single one of them had been disconnected from the borg consciousness. The borg queen is the perfect demonstration of why the hive mind/direct democracy system the borg have is so good, and why having an individual leader with absolute power is the worst thing a society can do.

    • @ebuzzmiller34
      @ebuzzmiller34 7 лет назад +7

      Yeah her plan was just dumb. What does taking over Earth get them besides billions of drones? They already surpass Federation tech, presumably would view human free will concepts as a weakness, so her whole plan is based on how she's a jilted lover Picard ditched and she has the hots for Data.

      ok so I'm not too good at my GOT lore and I haven't seen the new season yet either, but...
      I always thought that she was actually pretty smart and good at ruling, with her 'only fault' (regarding ruling) being that she loved her kids too much and wanted _them_ to have the throne, even though her kids were not suited for it _at all_ ? Which also contradicts the "someone who wants to rule so badly" - she always seemed to want the throne _for_ her children. Actually most of the horrible stuff I remember from her was because of her 'protecting' the ones she loved...

    Ok, so Victor Von DOOM!!! I made this argument before in The Inevitable Future Of Each Superhero Universe but here is the highlights.
    "A master of magic and science that beat the devil at his own game,and with a legion of Doom bots that make life a utopia in his nation and also make it impossible for anyone to assassinate Doom. He is the smartest man in the world, and also the oldest and wises because he once travelled back in time to the dawn of magic and waited to return to his present and having seen everything first hand, never is fooled twice and not one to repeat others' mistakes. He has had thousands of years of experience leading a nation and for a while a planet in the galactic federation. And to seal the deal, The PANTHER GOD OF WAKANDA once said that Doom is the only man that can lead humanity to a positive future. "
    This time I would also like to add the Empire from Star Wars using their own video, Why The Jedi Are The Galaxy's Biggest Idiots at time index 6:06. Mic Drop.

  • @Timewarpiaman
    @Timewarpiaman 7 лет назад +80

    The main problem with Cersei being in charge is that she manages to turn all her allies against her. I mean in trying to make sure Margaery Tyrell couldn't influence her son she manage to turn the Tyrell family against her (the only major House in GoT who were still allies with the Lannisters) and got her last son killed.
    Everything the Lannisters do ends up coming back to haunt them. Tyrion was the only person in that House who is smart enough to not continue making enemies. Hell he got captured by pirates and tricked them into eventually leading him to Daenerys.

    • @LupineShadowOmega
      @LupineShadowOmega 7 лет назад +19

      The problem was that Cersei was just aping Tywin without understanding why and how Tywin did the things he did. And not realizing that Tywin had a chip on his should that forced him into being a brutal tyrant that relied on fear and brutality when a firm but kind hand would have sufficed. Tyrion is Tywin without the chip. He and his father are very similar, but where Tywin wanted revenge and respect, Tyrion decided that both of those things are bloody useless. Doing what needs to be done became Tyrion's focus.

      He advocates slaughtering children and entire civilizations; peaceful ones, at that. And his ultimate plan for running the Galactic Empire was to get rid of the bureaucracy entirely and let the regional governors control their own systems. Imagine if the president and Congress agreed to disband every federal agency, leaving only the military, the state governors, and the threat of annihilation to keep 350 million citizens in line? You'd have the same thing you have in the Star Wars universe: a rebellion that would overthrow the government within the space of a few years, maybe even less.

      Emperor Palpatine took away public access to the Holonet, which is the in-between of TV and the Internet of Star Wars. If the leader of a first-world country tried to do that there'd be riots within hours.
      Unless they do it bit by bit of course, censor it in the name of the good of the people, in which case that is how liberty dies: with thunderous applause (see: the UK).

      Palpatine leaves too much to chance and sway-able predictions. Plus he gets too cocky and invites people to murder him. He wants to get killed and the two options he was going to leave behind to take his place were Luke and Vader. I don't want my leader to go suicidal.

He did evil stuff only to level the playing field with Superman, and the only reason he hated Superman was because he felt that superpowers demean the accomplishments of regular people, which they totally do.

    Villain in Chief: My vote is for Smaug. Just by his mere presences he kept five armies from fighting. Once he's gone it takes how long before the elves, dwarves and everyone squabbling over his horde. And mot importantly, he left everyone alone. After the initial attack, he stayed inside the mountain sleeping on a money bins worth of gold. Orcs didn't mess with him. Elves didn't mess with him. The dragon kept the peace.

    The reason Scar and his hyenas didn't work out because the hyenas didn't respect the circle of life and basically over ate their way into a famine

    • @carlosapiang8256
      @carlosapiang8256 7 лет назад +17

      Maybe in the short term, but if you look at predator-prey relationships, they are always a little out of phase. Say there are a lot of antelopes (a lot of prey), then the predator population would increase as more survived and reproduced. Due to the high number of predators (hyenas), the antelope population falls, as many are killed. Suddenly there aren't enough antelope to feed a large number of hyenas, so hyenas die and the population falls. This allows antelopes to reproduce and to grow in numbers due to the low number of predators. This relationship repeats itself ad nauseam.
      TL;DR: By eating themselves into a famine the hyenas actually did respect the circle of life.

    • @blackjack7654
      @blackjack7654 7 лет назад +1

      so if we were to, hypothetically, apply scars ruling style to humans we would only allow so many resorces to be developed at a time. we then let some people starve reduceing the population until there is an overabundence letting the population grow. then we keep doing this forever.

    • @connorcampbell-bisson8721
      @connorcampbell-bisson8721 7 лет назад +6

      Also, Scar was also almost completely inactive as a king. Opting to spend most of his time having Zazu sing to him while he just lazied around.
      And even if you used the justification that he didn't rein the hyenas in because of his claim that they'd never go hungry again, simply rationing food/hunting would fit this as it would give prey animals time to restock will reducing the amount of predators who would starve.

    • @sallyjrwjrw6766
      @sallyjrwjrw6766 2 года назад

      Mufasa only cared about the lions and didn't care about the hyenas. He was content for them to waste away in the shadow lands. He actually preferred it. Scar allowed the hyenas access to the Pridelands. I'm not sure hyenas could over "overeat" the prey population to cause such a devastating impact shown in the film. How many hyenas could there really be since they weren’t allowed to eat the prey in the Pridelands? It’s almost as if Disney is trying to show that socialism is bad; you have to segregate a portion of the population who must have less and live a harsh life so that another portion of the population can live comfortably because if you let everyone have access to the assets then there won’t be enough.

    • @LetsDelve
      @LetsDelve 7 месяцев назад

      Scar reigned during a drought. Mufasa's ghost withheld rainfall from the Savannah until his son was on the throne. He didn't care at all about the other animals. He only cared about his heir becoming king, and getting revenge on his brother. Scar did Mufasa dirty, but Mufasa did the entire nation dirty.

    You touched on a really important point about the mind at the end.. not that it's a new idea, but I still find it fascinating to think about: That if someone wiped out your memory tomorrow and replaced it with a new set of memories, as long as there weren't issues with your mind deleting the old stuff and taking on the new stuff, you'd have no way of telling the difference. In fact, in fiction where this kind of thing happens, it usually hinges on the person being saved because their mind can, in some small way, tell the difference between fake memories and old memories.
    Granted, you do have to take into account who the person knows and that's where our social webs of connection would probably save us from being tricked in such a way. If someone you know suddenly started being a completely different person, you'd probably notice. But then, on the other hand, people do sometimes legitimately "change" who they are in a markedly rebellious way and seem to have become a different person. So if the changes are subtle enough, over a long period of time, it could be explained away as normal human behavior.
    ...we're screwed, aren't we.

  • @Innomen

    The Borg also can't exist. They are in standing conflict. Explain why the Borg don't use cloaking devices. They are a false analogy. A strawman designed to further star trek's Luddite anti-transhumanism ideology.
    Actually linking minds would result in an exponentially better mind in the same way that organization and cooperation itself maximizes strengths and minimizes weaknesses.
    If the Borg's behavior were consistent with the Borg's stated nature the entire trek universe would be happily assimilated, quite possibly leading to something like The Culture.
    Pasted from another argument I made:
    I refuse to believe there isn't a single human in the federation that wants out of extreme eccentricity if nothing else to be a drone.
    If that is the case, then that level of homogeneity speaks to the federation's status as a fanatical oppressive religion/society.
    Everything about the Borg and its interaction with the federation is wrong.
    The Borg simply would not act like they act if they were are as we're told they are.
    Their complete refusal to use stealth, economics, diplomacy, and patience proves they aren't interested in either efficiency or victory. They are like a massive straw man argument against cybernetics. A false dilemma argument against transhumanism.
    Only one example: They could park a cube next to earth and simply broadcast the offer of assimilation to anyone whose death is imminent.
    "To all who wish assimilation instead of death, we are here. Your mind will live forever within us." Etc.
    If they've eaten a million species they know exactly how to make an argument. They have billions of statesmen and demagogues and propagandists and zealots.
    I'm seriously supposed to believe trillions of networked minds don't understand the value of a sales pitch? Really?
    Bullshit.

    The only character I would choose over him in the show is Tyrion and I just can’t justify calling him a villain.
