Why You Wouldn't Want To Live In A Superhero Movie
The Inevitable Future Of Each Superhero Universe
It really just doesn't get any better than After Hours.
cinimawins is better
Wow, not enough likes
Woah! CinemaWins!
After Hours is always a win
"Ding"
It's too bad they fired these people. Michael swaim and some of the other past cracked people are doing something on RUclips though if you look up small beans family meeting. its really funny
"You want to live in a brewing race war? 'Cause I got good news for ya."
An underrated quip
Arenaino Kripperino Go!Speed racist! Go! Speed racist! Go! Speed racist! Go!
Angel Flores but yeah, it really is
violence has never got us to a place we want to be. The reason we have power is because of union and that is just a fact. Racism is a mind fuck made up by evil-powerful men to justify slavery. It is amazing to think how this dominates our country to this day.
Jorvikson it’s not limited to one race, it started with black people because the Europeans that originally visited Africa felt threatened and devised a system to handicap a potential threat to their power...they apply the same racial bias to any non white culture that they want to exploit or denigrate. Asians, Middle Easterners, Latinos, Indians (from India), Native Americans, Inuits, etc, etc. How about you name a non white culture that European descendants have exempted from their racial bias?
Don’t get me wrong I’m not talking about all white people, but definitely most of the white people that have power on national scale keep it by “managing” the potential or the exploitation of other cultures. Which leads other susceptible people to believe that that is the way to achieve success. Just imagine if an alien species came to earth and viewed European descendants the same way Europeans historically viewed other cultures, those aliens would be considered evil...
@@ewartlambert Hell, people were racist against the Irish for ages
anyone else miss these guys every few years or so?
I miss them wverytime im glad youtube still recommends them to me. I almost memorized their dialogue
why did they cancel this show? you can't really trust humans afterall hahaha
Soren is basically apocalypse
Katie wants Batman Inc. to rule the world
Daniel wants a twisted version of JL earth 2
And Michael wants Parker industries to rule the world
Daniel seemed more superman red son to me
Kinda got a Justice Lord Superman vibe. although to be fair I think I'd be more likely to watch C-SPAN if every time a bill was taking too long Superman comes down and heat visions the offending congressman into a pile of ash. Ratings would definitely skyrocket.
I want Amazons to start ruling stuff. Seriously, they (under WONDER WOMAN, not her mom) have the most Jedi answer to all of our imperial and post-colonial and gendered problems.
Noah Grayson injustice comic series
What's their problem with good old democracy? I mean, sure, it's messy and complicated and bound to make mistakes. But the same goes for every other form of government, except in a democracy everyone is empowered to do something about it and make things better.
"Maybe you can't trust humans at all and expect a good outcome..."
This hits hard in 2020.
And every other year since the dawn of humans inventing governments.
This is why I vote for technocracy. Rule by true artificial intelligence!!!
Hits even harder in 2021.
Oh boy, you are going to love 2021! :D
You're gonna love 2022...
"The cosmic rays that make me wanna dance dance dance" was oddly the most memorable line
Hey in the Batman episode, Katie was anti-Batman and now she's pro-Batman. I can't stand this flagrant disregard for canon in my cracked comedy diner series.
Obligatory comparison to our modern discourse methodology
every episode is in a different universe. keep up.
this was sarcasm btw.
Not to mention Soren argued against Batman here by pointing out that all the villains only exist because of him, a point he refuted in the episode you talk about
I think they established in an earlier season that a Joss Whedon-esque government shadow cabal periodically mind-wipes them.
Jeff Miller I think they are just Pro-Whatever wins the debate lol
I think of that waitress as "Riri" now, and ship her with Daniel so haaaaard. She understands him. Love her.
Nice to see a shipper. How do you do, good sir/ma'am?
it's star she's the best
Arunima Tiwari do you how do?
I love after hours so much, been watching since 2013 and it's still just as good as ever!
Thanks!
word
buul djpijasdv I wish there were episodes more often. Literally the only thing I consistently watch on this channel.
buul djpijasdv nope
It's honestly the only thing on Cracked that I still enjoy. Well, that and OPCD occasionally. I went on the site every day for years, but after a while it seemed like they were getting less funny and more preachy.
The writing on these is just spectacular, even rewatching these years after they aired.
*The show I subbed cracked for*.
*4 of my people talking*.
No Comment i just saved the playist
WHEN DID SHE BECOME A PERFECT TEN STUNNER, WTF!!??
Cmon guys, we've all read the comics and we know that Dr. Doom is our only hope.
Sygnus Adun hell no his ego would be annoying
Yeah, but that's the price you pay for not everything fucking up and us all dying.
I'd rather have competence + ego than incompetence + ego
Fair enough
+Isaac Kramer I have bad news for ya...
The mutant section reminds me of the argument on guns.
Was going to comment about that. Soren's argument is basically the same as "an armed society is a polite society", which gun owners have constantly proven wrong on several occasions.
huh. that's so weird. i wonder if they realized that when they wrote it.
Pokerface lol like when a muslim extremist tried to kill people in a "draw mohammad" contest and within seconds of trying got shot by 3 gun carriers... i mean lets be honest if you have a gun you instantly deter most criminals
Well, it is a bit different though. Guns can be properly regulated with mandatory training and background checks. There are also limitations to what firearm normal civilian can own. But with superpowers, everyone will have it at a certain point, regardless of your mental health, and the lethality of powers can vary from a pointy rock to 500 hydrogen bombs tied together.
Except criminals have guns, too. The idea that "the only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun" is patently ridiculous, not the least of which is the definitions of "good guy" and "bad guy". The world is never so black and white, and it's dangerous to try to live that way.
And when you really get down to it, how do you tell the good guys from the bad guys on sight? If you see a guy walking towards a school with an MR15 strapped to his back, is he on his way to kill children, or just picking up his daughter from school while exercising his open carry rights?
Superman may technically be an alien but he was raised here in Kansas by a kind loving couple and is essentially the most human out of all of us.
Yeah and good fucking thing because if he wasn't we'd all be fucked. He'd be like Homelander except able to destroy the planet in an instant if he wanted to and we'd all be forced to bow to his every whim unless we wanted to die horribly. Every world government would be forced to surrender to him.
Yeah and good fucking thing because if he wasn't we'd all be fucked. He'd be like Homelander except able to destroy the planet in an instant if he wanted to and we'd all be forced to bow to his every whim unless we wanted to die horribly. Every world government would be forced to surrender to him.
You get it….
I’m not sure that Kansas is the most human place on earth. The place is basically one big cornfield with some weird churches in between
with Soren's mutant universe you would also have to deal with reality warping mutants
Time Travelers, weather manipulators, animal talkers, etc.
Mainly scarlet witch who fucks over magneto when he tries to recruit her to help inslave humanity. She turned on the mutants, weekened their powers, and stopped mutant birth for the next hundred years.
Yeah, Franklin Richards and Matthew Malloy just ruin his argument. They are basically God.
"I'm not even sweatin' it. Slaughter the Humans, it's fine." lol
"You wanna live in the midst of a brewing race war? Cos I've got good news for ya". Died.
"How about Captain America?"
"A society where everyone in America is unjustifiably patriotic and their only response is aggression? We have that now"
ded
Lol
Wrecked
Holy shit I had to pause the video 😂
Cracked you guys are the best. My dog died this morning and you guys gave me some joy today, so thank you.
+therantster Incredibly sorry to hear about your loss.
therantster Fuckoff.😑 I mean sorry about ur Dog and all, that sucks. Can't imagine going through that shit again. But keep that shit to urself and off the comment section.
John-Michael Barnhill No you fuck off give the poor guy a break.
skysthe limitvideos Wouldn't need one if they didn't bleed their problems on RUclips.
John-Michael Barnhill Shut up Bitch!
But.... magneto WAS right. If mutants didnt fight, they would have wound up in the same position as he had been in WW2
Unless Xavier got his psychic head out of his ass and used even the most subtle suggestions to not only end anti mutant slavery, but racism, sexism and other -isms, or did anything in the political spectrum that actually aids his own cause. Instead we have the current fact that you are right magneto is the most correct option as his opposition does nothing actually positive with all the literal abilities to do so
@@HovektheArtist xavier dowfall is his pacifism, he thinks he do not need to control people, if he was more than just mutant ( like black or female) he problably would do that
@@heitorguerra4584 see it's not pacifism as his powers are non violent unless he mind crushes them, he could even use it to enhance his charisma so as not to actually mind control anybody. I think first class mystique got it right in that he's more human than mutant in his actions and thoughts because hes not ostracized, and hes not ostracized because nobody can even tell hes a mutant
@@HovektheArtist but mind control is a form of agression end very problematic if done without consent , i think is a more agressive path to ther goals just controling them into accepting mutants
@@heitorguerra4584 I can see how that can be aggressive, but there is an alternative, which is using his powers to add more "weight" to his words by mentally sending his emotions as a charisma booster, it's basically the epitome of non aggressive use of his power.
well according to logan, all it takes to topple a mutant oligarchy is corn syrup. 25 years of mutant killing corn syrup
Was that what it was? They couldn't conceive more mutants because corn syrup made them infertile? Dang.
Jonny Lupus The gmo corn syrup controlled the genes to within regular human bounds
I guess i just figured the cure from X-Men: The Last Stand worked a little too well in the alternate timeline.
1:11 Star! Omg I love you!
I was 90% sure it was.
that gave me hope for Dan to actually have a meaningful relationship outside of these talks.
with sourcefed done, i guess she must be permanently here
Nope! Just freelancing as usual.
Katie.
just cause superman would be an alien wouldnt mean that he wouldnt be a good leader just because he is an alien
damn girl that is dangerously close to racist
Sabrowsky how bad do ur arms hurt after u reach that hard?
She didn't say he wasn't a good leader. She said she'd prefer an Earthling to rule Earth, humans able to be ruled by themselves.
Not even close to what was said.
No Sokovia Accords mention? I feel like Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is covering part of this topic now
There is a single superpower which, if everyone had it, would result in a true utopia.
Empathy. If everyone had true empathy, there would be no conflict.
If you could feel the harm that you were inflicting on someone else as if it were happening to you, you would stop. If world leaders felt the oppression that they imposed on their people; felt their people's hunger pangs their greed caused; felt the burning, agonizing deaths of the people they killed - there would be an instant worldwide peace. If corporate executives could feel the sorrow and stress and pain that their greed caused, everyone would be paid a livable wage. If people felt every blow struck, felt the sorrow of loved ones left behind, felt the violation of their victims - there would be no crime.
Even ideological conflicts would resolved without the harm we have now. There would be an understanding that, despite not agreeing, we are each doing what we believe is right. That our differences of opinion aren't a result of stupidity or malice, but simply of a difference of experience. If you realize that the person sitting across from you is just like you in all the ways that count, you'll be more inclined to listen, and to seek compromise.
The world would reach a state of harmonious balance where everyone has what they need and no one is trying to harm someone else to get ahead.
cryofpaine And lo, the masochists would finally rule us all.
@TheAgentJesus - I'd rather be ruled by a masochist than the sadists we have ruling us now.
cryofpaine eyooo!!
Empathy has it's own problems though. Because sure, you feel all the pain you caused, but at the same time, you also feel all the hatred people feel towards those responsible. Everyone would feel it. Hate is an unbelievably powerful emotion. You're approaching this from the aspect of only world leaders had the empathy to feel the pain their people are going through, but imagine if someone on the street could feel the pain and anger of someone whose husband was shot by the police because they thought he was a criminal just because of his skin color? If everyone could feel everyone else's pain, then they would feel the anger and frustration that pain causes.
You say no crime, I say bullSHIT no crime! YES crime! Human beings are already easily swayed by their own emotions. If everyone in the world felt all the emotions of everyone else in the world, then emotional restraint would topple like dominos. People getting swept up in protests and anger? Imagine the entire planet feeling anger and suffering towards the people they view responsible for their own hardships. Suffering is not a manmade occurrence. Everyone working together to achieve world peace would get it- for as long as it took until a drunk driver kills someone on accident. And then anger and frustration begins to take hold of that person's loved ones, and everyone feels all of that.
Your beliefs might stop intentional acts of cruelty and suffering, but accidents happen and people want someone to blame. It's a GOOD thing we can't feel everyone's pain, because if we did, humanity would turn into an angry mob looking to exact vengeance upon the next person we feel is responsible for our pain.
Exarch-of-Sechrima
1:45 That's Henry Cavill, not Brandon Routh.
Wait, this is over a year old, why am I correcting it?
I will never stop re-watching these.
I always wonder if Soren and Daniel's dialog is shot at a separate time than Katie's and Michaels because you never see Soren and Katie or dan and Michael interact, and vice versa, maybe they've never actually seen each other, because they're never in the same shot...
Older videos have them getting face to face. Also the outtakes at the end of several videos shows them laughing at each other flubbing their lines. So its likely they are sitting together but the side to side shot is just easier to film and since normally each has their own views it works. Also the Jock/Nerd and Hot Girl/Creepy Guy thing is kind of in consideration I believe.
Pretty sure I remember Soren and Katie getting all worked up about batman and making out lol
They basically film it twice at different camera angels. Once with the cam on Soren and Dan' side and once with the cam on Katie and Michael's side. So that way the dialogue can still flow as they film it.
"Superman is incorruptibly good"
>Injustice; proof that the Joker can corrupt ANYONE
... which is what makes it a lousy, lazy Superman story.
@@TJStellmach Yes, I agree with that now. I was a sheep three years ago, clearly.
Hands down, the best government to live under is Doctor Doom's. Sure, the leader is slightly unpopular with the rest of the world, but nobody short of immortal cosmic entities would willingly fuck with Latveria because DOOM REIGNS SUPREME! Plus, I hear his country has universal healthcare, and it covers everything, including mystical curses.
Steven Davidson sad part is that's true 😂😂
i think in the MCU Doom's country is actually the best place to live, and Doom was nominated for the Peace Nobel (dont ask how i know this, it's random facts), so yeah sign me up for Latveria any day!
it's also been stated on several occasions that doom cares deeply about his people.
Actually you're right since Latveria is one of the closest things to a utopian country. Top tier education, defense, and health care. Plus Doombots roam the streets so everyone is constantly policed by an unbiased bulletproof machine. And the President is an immortal technologically genius sorcerer who can defend the country with his own two hands without even having to resort to his army of robots and soldiers and his nuclear arsenal. Only problem is the occasional invasion invasion by the Avengers and Fantastic 4.
Walter Kovacs, That Latverian Utopia sounds like a dystopia the writers haven't gotten around to exploring. Automated drones roaming the streets "unbiasedly" enforcing the laws divined by a mentally unstable wizard tyrant. Education basically just forcefed propaganda. Health care only so that you can continue contributing to Dr Doom's master plans. Your entire country is basically just a game of SIMs or civilization to the all-powerful sociopath running it.
I love how often Michael makes Katie do that cute little smile of hers when she tries not to laugh. I just wanna see a compilation of all those moments. Internet, i have spoken.
1:07 *raises eyebrow when Dan talks to waitress and they appear to have common ground
It already IS our burned out ball of garbage. :3
She'd want someone like Superman, who could catch every single missle in mid air and toss it into the sun, to leave? We really need that right now
Dan is a colonial imperialist
Soren is a fascist
Katie is a social democrat
Michael is an anarchist.
Did I get that right?
Justin Umali +
Justin Umali Dan's definitely more of a Benevolent Dictator kinda guy. Soren's isn't fascism, but I see it rather as really really hardcore libertarianism mixed with social darwinism. Michael's is meritocracy which devolves in anarchy, and Katie's is like a normal democracy that just gives the executive extra powers and responsibilities (in both cases to punch criminals with impunity).
Justin Umali The superman argument is actually more like a bureaucracy, since in a post-scarcity world controlled by a single government, all you'd need is people to manage it all.
Normally I would agree with the reading of Superman being a benevolent dictator, but the thing is, that narrative totally ignores the fact that Superman is a foreign power subjugating a people he perceives to be weaker and unable to rule themselves. That's Western colonialism. The fact that he's doing it for reasons he perceives to be "benevolent" is inconsequential; Superman is a foreign invader, an imperialist, and Dan tacitly approves of this, partly because he benefits from this system, and partly because he is blind to the fact that he is talking of imperialism.
Justin Umali But imperialism was only bad because the people who did it were bad, and Dan O'Brien specifically argues that Superman is incorruptibly good. Don't forget that tens of millions of people are probably slightly better off today because of western colonialism (billions if you count WWI), it's just that it did a lot of bad things at the time. Superman isn't racist, and he doesn't need to exploit humans in order to improve the world.
Destruction of all large weapons, altering the climate through some kind of strength/speed thingy, and he could spend the rest of his days fighting militants and generating infinite power. People would still have prejudices, and there'd be disputes over resources (which he'd solve), but in a couple of hundred years we'd easily have a utopian society. And nobody even had to die.
I love star(the waitress)⭐ miss sourcefed
" No Lex, I don't" lolol best line.
"You wanna live in the midst of a brewing race war? Well I got good news for ya"
Savage.
"Well then for fuck- forget it! forget everything!" why did this make me laugh so hard lmfaoskskfkgj I love Soren
The whole "everyone has a power" thing is basically the anime Boku no Hero Academia.
Close, but not everyone there develops powers, including the protagonist himself. xD
this is Plato's ring of gyges in essence
"Don't you want to see what we can make of ourselves on our own?"
No, I think I've seen enough already.
The xmen government they describe is basically my hero Academia government which works pretty good for the most part
Except, HeroAca doesn't have any institutional racism towards quirkless. It also worked well only during current All-Mights's reign. It is said in the manga that before he started to work crime was very frequent. And as we see currently in the manga as soon he's gone, crime comes back. So they were just lucky to have a very nice person with OP quirk for some time.
I've already watched every single after hours episodr with this original cast. I'm just here doing it all over again because it's that good. I wish they would all get back together
cough, Regime Superman is a brutal dictator, cough.
Mike R Yes, but that was an alternate version.
INSERT USERNAME or was it? Say S man is moral, his morality reigns supreme as the ultimate, and non subjective morality. What happens when he is presented with a hard choice save many or a few, the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few, of course. But do they really a doctor is one person yet can save many, a scientist has a single mind but can find a cure to save millions, a diplomat is but one person yet he can prevent a war.
Any "Objective" morality is inherently flawed any Utilitarian need of the many, ultimately becomes the Totalitarian "need of the people". And we all know how that ends, I'd rather have a committee of flawed immoral humans then one perfect
Uber-Mansh.
The bible told us do not kill, and yet the world was bathed in blood and fire by the Knights of the cross, and the believers of the Crescent.
Morality can be only subjective and only a flawed human not a "god" can grasp it.
Lol
What about Superman Prime? The gold one?
Jesus Christ, 3:00 sure aged well.
After Hours is still the BEST!!!!!
I watched all these one after the other ages ago and rarely hit "like", just "next". Now, because of small beans off hours, I'm back and I'm hitting like every time, you're welcome, cracked.
Dr. Horrible's Sing-along-blog. It's a mixed bag of inherited powers and developing advanced technology. But the stakes are so small scale that it's practically like having a playground bully. Dr. Horrible only had to commit one murder in a public setting as his final exam to join the Evil League of Evil. And it wasn't even the person he had targeted for the murder in the first place.
"You want to live in the midst of a brewing race war? Because I've for good news for you." Lol
I for one welcome our new alien overlord.
I miss these guys ❤
This was just a plain ole intriguing episode to listen to. XD
my power would be self-mind control. sounds useless at first, but i would be able to alter my personality, remove anxiety, become hella smart. maybe i could even slow time down by giving myself perfect reflexes.
I feel like that would backfire if you're not careful. You're only removing the limit in your mind, which means If you brainwash yourself to do anything physical, you could be straining your body and not even realize it. Maybe you enhance your pain tolerance and reflexes. You could become a low level speedster, but tear up your muscles and tendons beyond repair. I'm thinking ability to enhance yourself might be a better version of that.
Another issue is that you might end up losing your sense of right and wrong by taking your personality alterations too far. Take away too much fear or all sensation of fear and there'll be a point where the person won't consider that they might be in the wrong. Reflex thing might be kinda cool if it's a toggle kind of deal and not something permanent. I'd imagine interacting with other people who are processing the world much slower than you would drive someone mad.
Bring back after hours. We need this.
I would prefer Alien rule over Earth being on fire... I live here -_-
i finally found and after hours video i hadn't seen yet
Sometimes I wish they were still here for The Boys😞
omg the cap joke at the end 10/10
holy crap, #MagnetoWasRight even 7 years ago on After Hours. He was right all along.
"I would rather turn the Earth into a burning ball of garbage..."
It's sweet how Katie thinks that's not already happening.
Replace superpowers with us having RUclips and this is the same conversation
Ironically it’s been established that Spiderman didn’t get his powers from a radioactive spider. He got his powers from a magic spider that happened to be radioactive and was sent there specifically to give him powers.
I don't know much about that but isn't everything ultimately a result of magic in a universe that has tons of cosmic entities which guide said universe? Origin, Order, Chaos, The Celestials, etc..
Maybe you just can't trust humans at all an expect a good outcome.
The end of this written story proves that he'd be the best applicant
3:39 actually, neanderthals also walked upright and used tools.
Disappointed Turtle And also they actually were bred out of existence rather than starved or destroyed. They interbred until they disappeared.
gunjunky7520 also true. But we know that some of them actually bred with our ancestors
Disappointed Turtle that was exactly what I just said.
gunjunky7520 well, I mean, they didn't only interbreed out. A modern human genome typically has like 4% Neanderthal. It's likely, that while they interbred with Homo sapiens (Sapiens), we did outcompete with them at least a bit. Like, they didn't adapt as well to changes, and so somewhat died out, but also interbred with us.
Yes, there rarely is only one answer to these things
Do an after hours on how heroes in movies and tv are always directly in the line of fire, and yet never get harmed. Think of every movie with a major battle scene and the most important people are at the front instead of miles away in a command center telling the pawns what to do. Or in a fire fight and standing out in the open mowing guys down and endangering their lives for no logical reason. Maybe its more of a Today's Topic.
Green Lantern: those with the most noble merits receive godlike powers and are admonished to be responsible and protect everybody.
Also, Katie kinda 180'd on Batman there. Soren kissed that mindset right into her, huh?
"Giving it over" is not the same as giving it to ourselves which is what we do by default
"Maybe you can't trust humans with super powers and expect it to be a good outcome"
I recommend you to read Worm to see this explored.
Barbie, out of her many jobs is also a superhero, and had a comic where she did superhero stuff and I would say that in the Barbie Universe everyone has infinite resources and respects their benevolent president/princess/superhero/Jedi-alien/secret agent spy, there's no crime in the Barbie world aside from generic villain she beats in the movies or turns into her friend so a Barbie-ocracy would be ideal the only downside is that everything is bright pink and has her image carved into it
9:58 Hi, I'm from 2022, and Soren's comment turned out to be a prophecy.
I says that the best system is that of Young Justice: anyone can develop magical abilities if they work for them, but not so potent abilities that they can destroy the world personally. Also there are other types of powers.
Dragonlover553 yeah, not only does Young Justice have the perfect sets of superpowers, but it’s the only superhero comic/cartoon series that has a true meritocracy government.
The reason I agree with Daniel (despite not liking Supes) is that we as humans just cannot govern ourselves. Hell, we can't even put our own damn grocery carts away in the cart coral, is proof that we're incapable of self-governing.
3:57 that was subtle...
The beginning of Katie's idea sounds like the start of Dexter in the Dark
Michaels comments about becoming heros and spidey reminds me of one punch man universe
V would be the best scenario here the way I see it.
Absolute power to the people. The ultimate democracy, anti-totalitarianism in its most basic form. V is not driven by power or even revenge, only by justice and equality. And, continuing on Katie's idea of not giving the power to a single individual, V is an idea, a symbol of justice, tolerance and freedom. His conflict isn't with a singular "villain" or bad-guy it's with oppression and hatred. This is how you bring the good out of everyone, uniting them in the name of a cause all can believe in and get behind.
I think you missed the point of that story, wherin V literally becomes a brainwashing oppressive dictatorial force displaying all of the qualities that he lambasts in the government he's attempting to destroy and gaslighting a young woman until she's a shell of a person motivated by nothing but hatred of authority and desire for violent revolution, just like him. V is a more effective version of the thing he hates, enforcing his own ideology through terror and bloodshed often more extreme, and pushing violent mob rule as the model for a stable society. The "ideal" of V is multiplying that indefinitely until murder is justifiable for nearly any offense and forgiveness is a lost concept.
V is literally a story about the dangerous and seductive nature of violent revolution, how it destroys the people that engineer it, and how it doesn't solve anything in the end because you've just replaced the murderous oligarchy of the rich with the murderous mob rule of the common person.
Superman needs to be depowered and turned into the ORIGINAL Superman. He cannot fly, he doesn't have Laser Eyes. He doesn't have cold breath. he doesn't have time travel ability. he doesn't have super speed. ALL HE HAD was super strength, and super durability. Allowing him to LEAP over buildings, and stop trains or cars from crashing into people or causing accidents. THAT IS ALL.
This never gets old!
Revisiting this, Katie's first point about Superman sounds a lot like Omni-man from Invincible.
Haha I was just about to say the same thing
I've always wanted the power to be able to create any sound on command... From a jaunty little tune as an accompaniment soundtrack to my day... Or a sonic boom to destroy my foe's .... The world's greatest weaponized musician.
I just tripped over this (or it was recommended by the YT gods) and it was pleasantly well done. Superb.
3:00 this hits different different rn
Soren, despite his Arian ways, is actually right for once. It's not good, it's not bad, it just is, power is always going to be vested in the group who are willing to take it while the masses are worrying themselves stupid over nonsense like ethics, and rights. Don't like it? Start a revolution.
He's not right in that the mutants would be the ones with that power humans have numbers they have Society if it wasn't for humans holding back the mutants will be wiped out from fear of that very thing the only scenario the mutants win in is the one where no one ever wages of war against them they just Garner ranks and Massacre the people who gave the courtesy of not massacring them.
Goddamnit I miss these :'(
Soran is right. The anime My Hero Academia is the best example of of a post x-men universe. Over 80% of the population has mutant abilities called "quirks" and the byproduct of this is a world where superheroes become a legitimate career. These heroes are able to save the day better better than any regular human being. If a forest fire starts, have no fear because a hero that can blast water straight from his hands is on the case.
Oh hell they inspired brightburn without knowing it.
There's a comic where I think the flash goes by the end of time for a bit and the last thing to exist is superman just floating there watching it all end...
What if you just require everyone in an executive position to be worthy by Odin's standards. Sure it's not perfect, but it's hard to see how it would be *worse*.
It's funny how this relates to real life. Encroachment is the real life equivalent of this since murdering any animal besides a human isn't murder and pushing them from their habitats for the "gain" or our own species ( I use quotes since monetary gain is not actual gain). When people talk about the theoretical like this they never relate it to real stuff since the theoretical injustices are happening to humans it's so terrible but there's always a comparison, it's just never something being done to us, it's something we do to others. So since other animals only crime is not being able to afford your condo kick them the fuck out, get an exterminator, whatever works for humans because we are clearly so civilized and worthy. How is that any different from mutants doing it to us. Like it or not the planet is survival of the fittest, even in society. It doesn't stop with us, if a better species comes along we get wiped out too. Love how simple minded people are only relating things to their narrow scope of how things work or morality or even the basic laws of nature, like they apply to everything but us. That Cap line at the end though...Brilliant!
It's funny you say that because in many parts of the world, the natural world that you sort of owned WAS your wealth. Unfortunately in western societies that's not the case , so unless nature can be commodified for the "free market" , it's destroyed.
"Ya basic." THE SASS! DAMN DANIEL! (No pun intended)
They're actually was a movie called Brightburn about what if Superman was not all good and in fact became corrupted as a boy. They didn't actually call him Superman but it was pretty obvious that it was supposed to be a reference to Superman
5:35 nope that was a grenade sized pumpkin... !!
I still watch these Cracked After Hours and I’m thinking with all the new super hero movies we have now, the one super hero universe inevitable future I would want would be Ghost Rider with Nicholas Cage. For those who don’t know the movie Johnny Blaze signs his soul to the Devil (Mephisto) cure his father’s cancer only for his dad to die in a motorcycle accident, Johnny is given immortality but works for the devil.
However, Johnny is given more power than the devil as the Ghost Rider, and is able to escape him seen in the first movie, as well as overpower the devil in the second movie and his son Blackheart in the first movie respectively.
There’s something known as the Social Contract created by the Enlightenment, it’s an implicit agreement among the members of a society to cooperate for social benefits, for example by sacrificing some individual freedom for state protection. Theories of a social contract became popular in the 16th, 17th, and 18th centuries among theorists such as Thomas Hobbes, John Locke, and Jean-Jacques Rousseau, as a means of explaining the origin of government and the obligations of subjects.
That implied social contract would become a literal contract with people signing away their souls and receiving immense power, there are a lot of people who don’t have a spiritual background and would be willing to sign away their souls in order to commit good deeds or out of pure selfishness, there would still be people who would never sign away their soul and retain their individuality.
Okay, but the island Genosha in the Xmen comics proves that Magneto’s plan could work.
I vote Green Lantern. The leader/protector is chosen by their genuine moral abilities. Only the bravest, most loyal, most dutiful people are capable of being a green lantern, and if that green lantern messes up, the other green lanterns take them down.
That universe is just Orderrealm from Mortal Kombat. The underclass veering too far from being just means that you're going to subjected to unfair treatment...or death
Dude I miss you guys
at 7:10 I think Katie meant:
The Nightwing Robin (Dick)
The Dead Robin (Jason)
The Smart Robin (Tim)
The Girl Robin (Stephanie)
The Demon Robin (Damian)
The Not-Robin (Duke)
Just coming back to laugh at the first 2 mins of this episode as a Brightburn trailer plays as advert.
Superman is not an outsider. He was raised by human parents ever since he was a baby. This is the only world he knows.
"you're just jealous that you didn't think if it"
katie rips off the injustice universe
