2024 Nissan Frontier NOT SELLING - You Should Buy One

  • The Nissan Frontier is a great truck but people just aren't buying it. I have some ideas as to why, mostly to do within the company itself. They don't advertise it like they should. They rarely offer financing incentives with it. Trucks for Nissan are not a cash cow, the Rogue takes that slot for them. Their still selling a ton of sedans as well. The mid-size segment is jam packed once again and this truck is near the top for me.

I’m not buying a vehicle in this market. Period. I’m not paying this much money for plastic and unreliability. All the warranties are complete shit. 36,000 miles. People are not gonna line the pockets of these executives anymore. Make a reliable car with 100,000 mile warranty standard.. give us what we’re paying for or go out of business. I don’t care what happens to the car industry if it completely fails and all of them go out of business.

so you still believe bidens "inflation is transitory" rhetoric? unfortunately inflation is permanent. if you think the manufacturers are making too much profit then you found your niche in the market. maybe you can sell more reliable cars for less money with greater warranties. let me know when you produce your first road worthy vehicle under 30k

In general, we are entering (or in) a recession. Trucks are not selling because consumers have reached the limits. Car loan defaults are growing. Nobody's complaining that the 3.8 is not a powerful engine at 310 HP. Heck, that's TRIPLE the HP of my Hardbody. Sure, the crazy turbo 4 bangers get lots of torque somehow, but there's a tradeoff in complexity and stress.

$44k is a good deal considering the prices of other trucks (Tacoma) that are running that range for the basic entry of an SR5. A comparable Tacoma would be the TRD OFFROAD basic w/o options and yes that includes a downgrade on a "hybrid" that so far has issues after issues cost nearly $50-60k. I think most dealers are realizing that what was the last 2-3 years is no more nor is it ever coming back again, not here in America anyways. The Fed has kicked the can up against the wall and admitted no rate drops are coming, only increases, so this problem is only going to compound moving forward.

Everything comes to balance. You party hard and do 14 shots of jack Daniels tonight, tomorrow you will be 50 percent.
The dealers simply ran out of guys willing to sign up for 80k trucks. Now they are stuck with all this jacked up priced inventory that they ordered when the good times were rolling.

    • @b.g.4277

Supply is no longer the issue. This is just greed with manufacturers raising prices and dealer behavior at an all time low. Make less cars for more profit is the current model and it will not stop until people stop buying. Look at websites, how many are on the lot vs in route? They keep them off the lot to promote scarcity and try to pressure people into buying. Tides are turning though and I think we are getting closer to where you can finally get vehicles under MSRP again. I believe this is one of the reasons for the high prices, get some of the fools to buy high, give others the sense they are getting a better deal when we finally turn the corner.

Got 15% off a loaded Titan Pro 4X in September. And they gave me 33.5k for my '18 F-150. Luckily my dealership has a competent service department because it needed the electronic locking tailgate wired (the wire connector was hanging as they never connected it at the factory). It also needed alignment and a transfer case switch replacement on recall. And recently, had a radio head/display screen replacement because of permanent imprints on the glass after only 6 months. So I put one of those glass screen protectors on. Heck of a lot cheaper than a new F-150 and so far I like it. It's amazing how much of a difference a good dealership makes. 18.5 mpg on the last tank. I'd probably be driving a Frontier if I didn't tow a TT. Would fit in the garage more easily.

The motor is the same as the 03, the transmission seems to hunt for gears though. Especially at lower speeds in town, under cruise control. An issue i don't remember having in my 03. Remove most of the electronic "safety" features and you'd have a solid, reliable truck. But this idle stop feature, forwad brake assist, adaptive cruise control, parking assist, etc, etc, seriously if you need all of that to drive you probably shouldn't be driving until you're old enough to pay attention to the road.

I thought about buying a new generation frontier a year ago. So I went out and looked at used ones. Every single one of them had issues with less than 15k miles. Panels both inside and out coming apart.
Every single one had a leaking rear differential. Some were even leaking at the pinion seal. At least half had rear doors than didn’t close properly.
These things are not built well in my opinion.
And I’m not a fan of full GDI engines. And Nissans designs appears to be begging for valve-train issues.
And lastly, they suck off road. The traction controls are so intrusive you have to have a pro 4x with a locker just to do simple tasks.
Watch Sarah in tuned climb a simple hill.
She had put it in 4-low and lock the rear differential just to climb it. When most other vehicles we’re doing it in 2 wheel or open 4 wheel.
It’s a shame because it really is a nice looking truck overall.

They think it's all good as long as they are coming in cheaper than the competitors. What they are not considering is that a lot of people just can't afford to buy them outright or finance them in this economy. The Nissan solution to this won't be to drop the price a little to move units, it will be to say "it didn't sell enough so we discontinued it", just like the Xterra in 2015.

I bought an actual hardbody, new, 1991, base model, no AC , manual transmission, no radio, no back bumper, 7K. I have driven for over ten years, only replacement part, a fan belt.
Those were the days, not today.

I had a 91 Pathfinder based on the hardbody truck. Manual transmission, manual transfer case, auto locking hubs that were extremely reliable, V6 engine that was reliable (but very thirsty). The only downside was that the frame was prone to rust if you weren't vigilant. It didn't rust as bad as the Toyota I owned from that Era though.

It’s a shame they dropped the manual gearbox. Naturally aspirated V-6 stick shift would be a no brainer.

Most the dealers are not dealing on price where I'm at. They can keep them. $50,000 for a small truck is obserd.

Also Nissan you can negotiate BIG deals so MSRP is not the price, side note the new Tacoma top trim is over 65k so the Frontier is a fantastic value

I bought 24 gray sv 4x4 CC long bed, with tech package, and premium package, i believe hitch is standard on sv. Paid 40,250, but also got 12,500 for a 2015 lexus rx350 with 144k miles on trade. Kbb on lexus trade value was 9-10, so I'll take the fudgy numbers, any day.
