I feel rich for having purchased my current car with barely 30k miles for less than 9k cash.I mean, having 10 times the money those cars are worth, I would buy them xD. I would feel cheated and foolish driving that. They are also very strange and old-fashioned. The aspirational 'adventure' car is outdated. Ford and other brands are going to have a hard time when the American market changes, outside of it they are already out of the game.

I love how this guy walks the Ford lot. This is happening at all manufacturers. I knew a salesman at a Ford dealer. He had been selling Fords since the 70's up until about three years ago. He told me, while in a sales class for Ford in the 70's, that people in the future, would need up to a ten year note to buy a vehicle. They saw this coming forty years ago. Nothing gets cheaper. I'm 54. Wages never seem to keep up with inflation. Even when I bought my house twenty-five years ago, I struggled to make the payments and enjoy life. It never gets easier. I work more hours now, than I did back then.

I saw this at BMW of Santa Monica years ago; I had just moved to LA and didn’t yet have the faculties to work on my beloved M5. Took it in for an overdue 10w60 oil change. The SA informed me that i needed new thrust bushings and a few other things. Funny, i just replaced those? Put it up and show me. Nope garage is full we can’t. So the oil is changed? Yes. Prove it, you just lied about work needing to be done! He hustled me out gave me the keys and said no charge. Did the oil change myself in a parking lot after locating the hard to find 10w60, didn’t look changed…

Retired after 46 years as an auto tech. Actually did really well after I started my own business 30 years ago now. Here’s the [problem with flat rate. The very skilled men get all of the low paying, difficult to diagnose,bullshit work, while the service managers 20 year old nephew with a tackle box, mops his plate with all of the gravy. You’ll make more money playing stupid. The bottom line…the more you know, the less you will make.

You must look into the prices of vehicles in US and Europe. You can afford a lot more in US. Cars seem to be 30-50% more expensive this side of the pond.

Basically, I think a country's economy depending on car sales is wrong. Cars are supposed to be owned for 10-15 years. How would the industry manage to find that many new customers who are willing to buy expensive vehicles every year?

I paid $36000 for my 2020 Ranger XLT in November of 2020, when the pandemic was at its peak. The dealer was glad to get it off the lot. They gave me all incentives. It’s been a great truck.

Price has gone up and quality has gone down. Long gone are the days when you could abuse a Ford daily and it would just keep rolling up the miles.

That's like trying to make a practical case to buy a Ferrari. Ford Broncos are statement vehicles and were not designed for, nor marketed to the everyday working man. Remember only two types of people buy from dealerships: 1.) The Wealthy, and 2.) Idiots. If losing your job is a real worry for you, then you shouldn't be considering buying a brand new car. A car shouldn't cost more than 10% of your annual income. This means that if you make $50,000 a year, the most expensive car you should be looking at has an asking price of $5,000 (i.e., a twenty year old Toyota Camry).

He mentioned the fellow that worked at advance auto parts, i did the same thing. Worked as a mechanic for 16 years, then went to advance auto as a commercial parts pro, selling parts to garages. With my automotive knowledge i excelled and made good money and the shops i serviced loved me. Did that for 15 years until I retired. After being off for a few years, I went back working 2 days a week 10 hours a week. There will always be a satisfying feeling about helping someone with a car problem.

In 2020 I bought a new Ranger XLT (dealer demo) for 24k, the Ranger with the bird crap is virtually double that. 😮

It hasn't changed in 30 years

I kind of like my salvage title 89 Camry wagon. My friend bought it new then he got rear ended in it. The insurance company totaled it so he bought it back and continued to drive it. At 280K, he had an Attarco engine and trans installed. The guy who installed it couldn't figure out why it was stalling. My friend opted to not spend anymore money on it so I offered to buy it. He called around to find out what it was worth. Having a salvage title basically made it worth parts only. Pick N Pull offered him $370 for it so that's what I paid for it. It never stalled on me but when I took it in for a smog inspection, the tech told me that he couldn't get it to go into the base timing mode to check the timing. He told me to check the TPS. They will cause the base timing issue. Sure as heck, the TPS is adjustable and that was causing the issue. Fast forward to today, she's closing in on 400K. Over the years, it's needed struts, front end parts and other regular maintenance items. It's been my daily driver for the last 15 years. I think it was a good investment. It will probably outlive me..

Stop with the clickbait. I have a bronco.. they are amazing. Absent dealer markups and fake options, they are better deal than 90% of vehicles. Corrolas are now 40K. Also, a ranger is now over 45k, and they are the same frame, so it has same ground clearance.

I wouldn’t be too harsh on the pricing of the Escape or Bronco Sport. MSRP on my 2007 Escape hybrid was right in the same price ball park. Almost 20 years ago…

I paid around $60k for an Expedition XLT just as the chip shortage was starting to heat up, I needed a vehicle and figured it was then or never (basically paid just under MSRP), and I still feel like I got ripped off. Total pile of garbage, even had to have transmission replaced, and I think it is going again.

I'm so sorry for you. I've had an absolute blast in my 2021 Ford Bronco. I've owned trucks and lifted suburbans and rat cars. The Bronco is worth every penny. It is so much fun. I'm not sure what state you live in, but in my state of California.I see new broncos all the time. People are lifting them doing all kinds of fun stuff. You seem like such a downer. Maybe you should just try enjoying your life. You never know when it's your last day!!
