I just read the The CEO of Ford ,has been driving a Chinese EV for a month , for the education , and he doesn't want to get out, he likes it . . What does that tell ya?
I stop consuming in the last 4 years , everything it's way too much expensive , and people around me start to doing that too . Boycott sometimes work wonderful when everybody do it
2000 Mitsubishi Montero sport. It's still not bad to work on compared to newer vehicles. I am retired and cannot afford to buy a newer car or pay to have it fixed.
I bought a new Ranger 4x4 in either 2009 or 2010. XLT extra cab 4.0 v6 , automatic, power everything for $24,800....... NOW A RANGER IS $52,000! That's just mind-blowing. No way.... Not ever!
The secret to buying a car is you can't be desperate for a car. Be willing to walk away. I'm in the process of looking for a new car. I'm looking at a 2023 Toyota Corolla. The dealership has it listed for a little over 22k. When I go to the dealership Friday, I will offer them 19500 with tax and fees included. My goal is to get everything out the door for 20k. If they refuse to do it, I will get up and walk out. The biggest sales tactic for a customer is getting up and walking away.
Use FOMO on the dealers. You cant be excited or show any excitement about getting a car. Don't let them know you really want it and willing to pay more. Stand your ground and yeah walk away. Make them chase you afterwards, call you back and offer you better incentives. It's like a job offer - you never agree on the first numbers offered because they are never in your favour.
the problem is the predatory loan system. most people cant afford it used for 50k and bank wont give them the loan for it because its too old etc. so they walk into the dealer and buy it for 800$ a month for the next 8 years and bang they have the car they want *still under warranty* so to them its a win that they just spent 80k on a vehicle.
At 6%, 72 months, that is a $1600 monthly payment. Going to pay almost $130k for that car in the end, excluding insurance. Not worth it. Anyone that goes offroad will buy an older jeep or something and make it off road ready and its not going to cost $130k

I have been in the automotive repair business for over 45 years. Today all vehicles made are trash and way overpriced. I would never buy one and i would not want one even if someone gave it to me. All junk. A fool and his money are soon departed
Aim at the bottom end of the market, that's where the good new cars are. I have a 2024 GR86, the cheapest sports car on the market and it's a gem. Mechanically and electronically simple and easy to work on.
@delbertdemarco6921 I haven’t been in automotive repair business even remotely as long. Just trough 90’s. No offence, but it sounds like you are in serious denial!
A few years ago my nephew asked me if I could repair his broken down Ford Flex. I made the necessary repairs to get it back on the road and told my nephew to unload that thing the first chance he gets. Horrible car

love your video! In Europe it’s the same thing! Nobody but companies buy new anymore. But second hand cars/SUV‘s prices are skyrocketing because of that. My brother just bought a 1998 Toyota and loves it! That’s the way to go!
I see your 07 3500$ Toyota, and raise you a 500$ 98 Subaru. Joking aside I can fix/repair just about everything on that subaru if i have the tools/space/parts to do it, as it stands I have a sold tool set, its just the specialty stuff i need to collect as shit breaks.
@@novelaego2404 indeed, there is a 80s single cab Toyota pickup, with a plow on it in immaculate condition bout a mile up the road, I am green with envy every time I pass it. Subaru are defiantly a different sort of beast to work on, but, when you have to pull the motor to do some jobs, its faster/easier overall to just pull the motor, or you have a friend who is always tinker/tuning, well, on a good day from showing up, to engine out was under 45 min, with beer breaks.
The only thing could go fail is engine mount, even you don't drive much, it just become old, next thing is battery, nothing else need to worry those car, I still have a 2006 Corolla.
Yes better choice than a new POS sport Bronco but you forgot to mention that it has a 40 gallon tank and those years notorious for transmission problems.
I paid 1500.00 for my 1974 VW Bug, now 50 years on the road as a daily driver. It is fun to drive and gets all kinds of comments; far more than these Broncos.
You make a great point. When my kids were in Catholic school - it could have been any private school and maybe some public schools too, the mothers would begin to line up in the "pick up" area a half hour before the bell rang. It would be a line of solitary women in GIGANTIC SUVs like Expeditions and Escalades and Tahoes etc lined up, engines running, AC on, them on the phone, spewing exhaust for a full half hour before their ONE KID clambered into the back to go home. My girlfriend lived ONE BLOCK, one SMALL block, away from the school with ONE street to cross, and so started out with her 2 kids walking to school. But all the other mothers in line saw her kids, and began to gossip about how those "poor kids" had to WALK to school!!! A whole fckng block!!!! And make remarks about it and her. And eventually, it didn't take long, she stupidly bowed to it AND DROVE HER KIDS THE BLOCK TO SCHOOL!!!! I should have broken up with her the second that started. And MOST of those mothers lived in the neighborhood!!! Kids can't walk or ride bikes to school anymore???!!!! It's total madness.

I love how this guy walks the Ford lot. This is happening at all manufacturers. I knew a salesman at a Ford dealer. He had been selling Fords since the 70's up until about three years ago. He told me, while in a sales class for Ford in the 70's, that people in the future, would need up to a ten year note to buy a vehicle. They saw this coming forty years ago. Nothing gets cheaper. I'm 54. Wages never seem to keep up with inflation. Even when I bought my house twenty-five years ago, I struggled to make the payments and enjoy life. It never gets easier. I work more hours now, than I did back then.
Wages used to keep up with inflation, before people gave up their Unions. Unions used to have a Cost of Living Adjustment, Typical Annual, and Pension contributions every year. Then a whole lot of voters were convinced in the 80s that if we just give all that money to Wall Street instead somehow we all end off better.
@@ShawnBox There's probably a generation alive and working right now that if you described a Union or Pension to them, they'd be flabbergasted. I'll be 40 in a year, maybe hopefully I'll still have some life left in my body when I can at least collect social security (if it hasn't been completely privatized or had the age requirement increased to like 93). People even younger than me are going to probably just work until they die on the job from old age. The horrible assholes at the top that have collected all the nations wealth over the decades won't even notice.

I had a neighbor who had to have a 2022 Full-Size Ford Bronco. He paid $15,000.00 over MSRP and then bought a second Bronco for his wife. He changed the wheels and tires on both vehicles and did a few other things that cost upward of $4,000.00 per vehicle. They want to get rid of both Broncos, tired of the noise and harshness, but nobody wants them.
Are they so thick they don't realize the wheel and tire "upgrade" are the reason for the noise and shitty ride. Pavement queens built for offroad use but never see it. My neighbor (massive douche) has a Raptor bronco, looks like a $40k vehicle at best. I mean the roof is FUCKING PLASTIC, im sorry but if you expect 100k for your products build them accordingly. i don't want to see a single piece of plastic on the entire car if the price tag is six figures.
I had a friend who really wanted me to buy the Bronco. It was OK on a test drive, but I do 80% highway driving and I live in the suburbs. And truthfully, I don't want to be that person who has a $100K off-road truck but is afraid to get a scratch in the parking lot - that fear is for my Mustang GT. A nice Mazda CX50 is in my future.

@@ABAT58 I don't know how people around the world that live in the snow belt accept this. You'd think the governments across the globe would insist that manufacturers build vehicles that do NOT deteriorate from salt. Maybe stainless steel for everything exposed to the roadway should be the industry standard? Throwing away your car every five years is NOT acceptable.
@ trust me we try our best. Still our current vehicle which is a 2020 Ford Ranger started getting rusts. It always starts from under the car and in about 10 to 15 years , the floor of car specially close to the driver seat will be gone.

Nothing beats letting someone else take the depreciation hit and buying top quality, immaculately maintained vehicles in superb condition for a very reasonable sum! Your experience should inspire others to follow your example and make a wise purchase. You were so lucky that your used Nissan with CVT and over 150k miles on it didn’t cost you a lot of money for repairs and maintenance. I got a used minivan with only 16k miles on it and it costed me over $4k so far to get it running. From tires replacement to oil leaks, radio, mirror and AC repairs and so on.

My girlfriend had a terribly unreliable 2013 Focus, and I had been paying TOO MUCH too keep it running. When it was wrecked, I told her, for low low maintenance costs, buy a roller skate. Simplicity itself. There are cars that will last for a century if well maintained that are as simple as a roller skate. Wheels, motor, no computers, that's it. Make your only indulgence the AC. You can get a tube speaker with a rechargeable battery, and run your jam off your phone with WiFi. Make it simple. But, she wound up with a Camry, which is pretty reliable, about the same year, not a bad car. A 4 cylinder.
My local ford dealer has had the same 15 broncos for about a month parked out front by the main road. They recently put a bunch of F150s and 250s out front and moved the broncos behind the trucks. I have a 79 bronco that I paid a thousand bucks for 20 years ago. I have restored it during this period of time and it serves my purpose as a weekend toy. If something breaks on this, at least I can fix it easily and for cheap.
I kind of like my salvage title 89 Camry wagon. My friend bought it new then he got rear ended in it. The insurance company totaled it so he bought it back and continued to drive it. At 280K, he had an Attarco engine and trans installed. The guy who installed it couldn't figure out why it was stalling. My friend opted to not spend anymore money on it so I offered to buy it. He called around to find out what it was worth. Having a salvage title basically made it worth parts only. Pick N Pull offered him $370 for it so that's what I paid for it. It never stalled on me but when I took it in for a smog inspection, the tech told me that he couldn't get it to go into the base timing mode to check the timing. He told me to check the TPS. They will cause the base timing issue. Sure as heck, the TPS is adjustable and that was causing the issue. Fast forward to today, she's closing in on 400K. Over the years, it's needed struts, front end parts and other regular maintenance items. It's been my daily driver for the last 15 years. I think it was a good investment. It will probably outlive me..
The idea is to MAKE money, not throw it away on new vehicles or other junk that depreciates. we only drive used cars and keep them for at least 15 years. But my truck is 20 years old so sometimes longer. The money you save by doing this should be invested and making more money. Getting in debt on an item that depreciates AND paying interest is never a good idea.
Man you are spot on !. Here in the Middle East where the local folks do gravitate towards beefy 4 x 4 s are not touching these with a flag pole either , and they depreciate like crazy . 6 months down the line and you are looking at 40% off from your purchase value .
I had one on order for a little over a year, but fatigued by the delays and run-around, I canceled my order. In hindsight, it looks like I may have dodged a bullet. Great video. I have wondered about this too and have considered buying used vehicles in the 8-10yo range and just moving through them as time goes by. It’s crazy! In summer 2020, COVID was peaking. No one was plunking down money on cars-and that’s EXACTLY when I put on a mask, went to a dealer (which I have never done) and bought a brand new loaded Ranger XLT crew cab FX4 package for $40K. The only thing it doesn’t have is leather. Zero interest loan from Ford Motor Credit. You cannot get that deal anymore, and just recently, while parked and waiting for my wife to pick up her Mazda from a dealer servicing, one of the sales team was chatting with me about just how crazy good that purchase was-and how insane the prices for that truck are now. Anyway, appreciate the video and observations. 👍🏻
The only thing more crazy than the price is how much value your car will lose if you try to sell it back, even if you try and do it just a year or two later.
@@feslerae And in the case of EV's you often lose even more than that. Because dealers have such an over stock of supply when it comes to EV's they don't have a lot of reason to buy used Ev's off you unless they are paying pennies on the dollar of what it is worth.

Out of curiosoty we went and looked at a bronce a couple weeks ago. The fact they had a base model for 38k was ok, but then it jumped in price. Problem is, base models you cant get a v6, you cant add any options. You have to get into a heritage or a higher model. And in all cases you are paying 65 to 72k. Even my wife who really wanted one because it looks cool, said meh pass. She looked at it this way. I bought a used macan s, for less than a new bronco, and the quality, speed and ride is so much more and fun to drive. We own offroad machines so she only wanted a bronco to drive on the streets. The bronco prices need to come down by about half what they are, same with jeeps.
These companies want to make the maximum profit in the shortest time. But hitching your wagon to luxury trims and gas guzzlers is a dangerous game. All it takes is an economic slowdown or oil price hike and it’s lights out. Buyers for $65k SUVs can dry up real quick when things go south. But if the companies are structured around selling $65k vehicles, switching to $25k cars is near impossible.
That’s why I’m keeping a 25 year old Tahoe. The tranny and transfer case went bad and we put $5,000 into fixing. Wife’s vehicle and low miles so why buy somebody else’s used pos that is in worse / unknown 8:16 condition?
Why I'm still driving my amazing 2009 GMC Acadia. It's definitely needed some expensive repairs over the years, but it's a beast. Drives like a Cadillac 😎
Im convinced what dealers did during the pandemic is going to mess the market up until 2030. It's not that crazy to think about. How much negative equity people have, interest rates, shortage of decent used cars. Crazy Recalls etc.
I used to love cars, and I have a 2020 Gladiator that cost $42,000 when new. Well, the engine failed at 110,000 miles this past June - yes I do a lot of driving, but also keep my vehicle very well maintained, regular oil changes, etc. Nevertheless, the new engine cost $10,000, parts and labor. I begrudgingly keep the revived Jeep; it is a fun vehicle to drive on the beach, and it functions well as a mid sized pickup. I’ll never buy new again, though. New car and especially truck prices are insane. I’m planning to buy an old Camry as my beater to reduce mileage on the Jeep.
I just paid $29,000 total, out the door for a base model Mazda CX50. Their base models are well equipped. I looked at trucks and other SUV’s and it was an additional $10k to $20k for the same equipment! Yea, Mazda does charge a lot more for upper trim levels but do you really need all those extras? I’m very happy with my purchase. I would be very unhappy with the kind of prices you showed here.
You vote with your dollars. I picked up a 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4x4 for $1800. I put a 4” lift kit 33” tires, new rims, steel bumper, winch, roof rack, lights, snorkel, new A/C, new cooling system plus a bunch of other stuff. Honestly I probably have about $7000 into the build. I also do all the work on it, so the labor costs is zero. It’s get 15 mpg with a 4.7 V8. I daily drive it because it’s fun and I love the way it drives. I have a 2015 Camaro that now sits in the driveway. It truly is a very capable off road vehicle. We wheel with it at least monthly. Definitely a non- mall crawler. Not sure I get the scam here. Sell the house and split the equity? It’s the same as if they’d divorced without building it, except the money is in the house instead of cash
@ It doesn’t work that way in Divorce. The first thing the attorneys say is “everything remains the same financially” … so if you have a private jet 🛩️, use of that jet is supposed to remain the same. In my case, I bought a $2.4 million dollar yacht and a $5 million house when I learned about the pre planned divorce. It cost $10 million to unwind.
Videos like these are the canaries in the coal mine. The dealers need to start including all their bullshit options, and get vehicles back to MSRP ..and they need to do it yesterday. 3 years of post-covid inflation later, the buyers for $70, 80, 100k vehicles simply don’t exist anymore
Ford Edge never sold because it was so expensive. Happens again and again with Ford. Release all types of vehicles then price them too high and wonder why they don't sell. What they need to do right now with all models; strip them down and get the price way, way down. Sub $20k vehicles would be selling 100,000+ units per model. The fleet of vehicles on the roads right now is high mileage and worn out.
Yet people are paying the money. They wouldn't be charging it if people weren't giving it. People have so much money nowadays! I have a 2014 Nissan frontier. I paid for it about what that one vehicle you showed had in options. 16 grand. Works amazing.
I drive a 2016 Toyota Venza with 180k kms (111k miles) that I bought new, was going to sell/trade it recently for a Highlander or something but after 9 years it needs 4x shocks and driveshafts etc so the dealer would only offer around $2500 and I can't in good conscience sell it privately so I put in CAD $6700 to do all the work and it drives like new, it's not going anywhere. Bought out my lease 4 years ago and haven't had a payment ever since (other than this recent one-off).

A new Camry is 1/2 the price of the green Bronco. And it is a great car with good MPGs. You also save a lot of money on sales tax and insurance as well as gas money.
Best video I watched for a while. Today test drove one of these Broncos and asking myself one decent pros about it why this is $50k+ car. It’s just like you said a joke car for its cost. It’s an average or maybe lower quality vehicle. 4 cylinder loud engine that has 18 mpg. wind noise crazy, nothing special but asking so much.
I haven't bought a new vehicle since 1994. I can buy used, let someone else take the big hit and drive til the wheels fall off. Spent a hell of a lot less money
I really thought the Bronco was going to seriously sell well but then I saw the prices. Ford missed the boat on this vehicle, which had a lot of promise as a jeep competitor…
Cool looking but total garbage underneath. I have a 2006 Toyota that runs and drives perfectly. No need to upgrade it anytime soon. Never had a car payment on a stupid car and I live extremely happy
I have base bronco from 2021 38k out the door when I got it 3 years ago for 1.9 interest and love it. Has conquered everything I threw at it from heavy snow in Mammoth to sand hills in the high desert. The trick is not to pay for the higher trims. You're paying 20k extra for BS. All you need are all terrain tires and you're good to go. ❤

I just swoop in and grab their 'old' for cheap.
two 97 Chevys and one 1995 Jeep Cherokee wagon 4.0 are still ongoing and can be repaired cheaply and are good for 500k with some maintenance, 200k on the Chevys, and 256k on the Jeep. A 660.oo tail light assemble left him in a parking lot with a no-start.
So many people can get credit to get a nice car, that almost none mean anything to anybody anymore. I will be damned if I spent almost 100k on a car/truck and nobody even looked over at the car.

I sell these Broncos all over in rural Tennessee. I had no idea they were so expensive. I guess everybody just borrows the money and has payments forever.
I don't think its because they're junk. I think it's because those with the income to buy a new car, bought one. Now the dealerships are full of cars no one can afford.
That's one part of it, another is they stopped building all of their cars to focus on selling everyone an SUV because that was where the market was headed. While working I bought pretty much all my vehicles from Ford, I'm 72 now and quite honestly they make nothing now that I would be interested in, they seem to be competing against themselves with all these SUV models.

Regular 4x4 pickup trucks (not Raptor nonsensetypes ) on the other hand can haul well enough, go offroad , and throw things in the bed like Whitetail deer on hunting trips.
Love my 2002 silverado, just picked up for $1800. Put in another $700 to catch up maintenance and it runs great and will go everywhere a 70k Bronco will.
I love my jeep not because of its off road capabilities but because in the summer, I put my soft top on and yank the doors. But, i totally get your point.
Stupid plus tax 🤦🏿♂️
All they had to do was take that nice looking body and put it on a basic frame with a basic 5.0 Coyote V8, and F150 components and they would have had an instant classic and hot seller.
Even that would have been close to $100K. Local dealer has a 4 x 4 F150 Lariat……$103k before tax and license. In my area that’s going to nudge it to over $110K.
Single cab f150 4x4 5.0 chassis is short enough for a bronco body. Coulda had a winner but nooooo.

I haven't bought a new car since 2005. My latest purchase was a 2010 Nissan Versa 1.8 hatchback with 151k miles for $4700 cash. My base salary is $73k plus OT. Since I don't have car mortgage, I can save, afford my modest home that I got into back in 2012 for $170k, I can go on vacation with family, I can invest in my retirement account, and other important things. If I would have been stuck with insane car payments, I would probably be renting right now and have almost nothing else. No thanks.
I make $250K/yr + bonus and my two cars are a 2008 Toyota with 340K miles and a 2007 Mazda with 170K miles. I'm loving it with no car payments. The repairs and maintenance come out to $500-1000/yr, but that's a lot cheaper than $1000/mo car payments with high insurance.
I bought an 08 fit 6 years ago for 2800. 80,000 miles later, i can sell it for 3200.

That’s how I roll as well. My 2006 Highlander I’ve had for 18 years has 384,000 miles. Bought a used 22 Camry hybrid as a backup with cash. But the Highlander is my daily driver.
I put about $800 a year in the Highlander and the Camry runs $400 a year for oil changes. Make about $315k a year, bank 75% in savings and investments. Only a mortgage and utilities. Retiring in a few years.
@@hawkeye681how do I make 300k a year?
When do they scrap them and use the materials to build laters models!
I only owned 2 cars. Both used "beaters".
First one I paid $950.00 for a 1982 Monte Carlo in 1987.
I drove it until it was almost dead then sold it for $1,800.00 in 1995.
Second was a 1989 Grand Marquis. Purchased in 1995 for $3999.99. I'm still driving it. 235,000 miles.
The money I would have spent on "new" cars has been doubling and tripling in an index fund.
I'm looking forward to a very comfortable retirement.
I drive a 1999 Mercedes-Benz E320 300,000 miles, maintained and drives like new.

Old Toyota crew represent! My 4Runner turns 25 this month and has 325k miles on the clock. I’ve had to put money into it every year to keep it maintained, but it’s always stuff that just wears out with time. I like when the Broncos were made in the 90s but holy crap the prices on these new ones are absolutely ridiculous.
Those were good trucks, the new ones are built really cheap starting by the frame, it's crap when compared to the old broncos
I just bought a 99 Toyota Camry. Finally more bang for the buck.

Beaters are great; you don't care if someone dings your door. The stress relief of not caring is priceless. Plus if the thing is in good mechanical shape it will be dependable. Too bad others have figured this out and good dependable vehicles are holding their value.

How expensive are these high dollar vehicles to insure? Is it proportionally more to one that cost 1/3 as much?
Used vehicles have gone crazy too.
Man you are spot on !. Here in the Middle East where the local folks do gravitate towards beefy 4 x 4 s are not touching these with a flag pole either , and they depreciate like crazy . 6 months down the line and you are looking at 40% off from your purchase value .
Old beaters are all I buy. So many things to go wrong on these vehicles, and no one can repair them, or they just aren’t reparable, I’m not sure
I had one on order for a little over a year, but fatigued by the delays and run-around, I canceled my order. In hindsight, it looks like I may have dodged a bullet. While it still turns by head when I see one on the roads (especially the 2 door model), I think I am much happier in my 5 year old4 Runner.

The moment you drive it off the lot it's already lost about half of its value.
@@feslerae And in the case of EV's you often lose even more than that. Because dealers have such an over stock of supply when it comes to EV's they don't have a lot of reason to buy used Ev's off you unless they are paying pennies on the dollar of what it is worth.

My 2008 Toyota Highlander has 340K miles. The engine and transmission still run like new. I just sold my 2013 Toyota Camry SE to a family member who needed a car. It had 190K miles and ran like new. I figure it should last him another 10 years.

They don’t even make the base model of the Maverick which would be about 22k

I don't think its because they're junk. I think it's because those with the income to buy a new car, bought one. Now the dealerships are full of cars no one can afford.
That's one part of it, another is they stopped building all of their cars to focus on selling everyone an SUV because that was where the market was headed.
