Most of Chyrsler's problems stem from the fact that since 1998, Chrysler has been sold to Diamler, sold off to Cerberus, gone thru bankruptcy and re-emerged as the "New Chrysler Corp.", been aquired by Fiat as FCI and now merged with PSA Group now renamed Stellantis. Prior to the 1998 "merger" with Diamler, Chrysler was an efficient and mostly profitable corporation. Everything changed after that and there hasn't been a cohesive product plan since then. It's no surprise that the current brand names are in trouble because of all the disruption in engineering and management over the last 26 years..
Chrysler is no longer an American brand. Stellantis is going to sell the iconic building in Detroit built by Iacocca and move the jobs to Europe. Add that to the fact that their products suck, quality wise, way over-priced, and I agree. They aren't long for this world.
While yes the Chrysler Pacifica is the best selling minivan in US, those numbers are skewed because of rental fleets. I wouldn’t be surprised if 30%-40% of Pacificas are sold to rental fleets. And because they sell of lot of them to rentals it kills the resale value of all Pacificas since rentals only keep them for about a year then dump them at auction whereas Siennas and Odysseys hold their value very well. But you don’t need the Chrysler nameplate to sell minivans. You could call them anything and get the same result.
The dealer in Lincoln, Nebraska has 11 2024 Pacificas with advertised discounts of $5,000 to $6,500. They still have a new 2023 model - discounted $15,600! Even after those discounts, the asking price is still over 50K for most of them. Lincoln may be an unusual market, but I doubt it. I give the chance of Chrysler having 2026 models as 50/50 and later than that as zero. Not that I would bet real money either way. :-)
@@revnation_auto versus paying and running a completely separate brand? Dodge Caravan with maybe a Chrysler trim level. They aren't known for their reliability either way.

BUT For their thinning catalog of models, 4 brands is way too many (just counting CDJR). There is going to be a real bloodletting and 140K minivans a year probably isn't going to be enough to save Chrysler from the history books.

This one vehicle alone cannot save the brand. Stellantis still has brand new unsold 2023 on dealer lots while the 2025's are coming out. A number of their vehicles average six months to over a year for their dealers to sell. The big problem is most people consider their vehicles to be grossly overpriced with questionable reliability.
That’s a common practice for rental fleet vehicles by every brand. They know they get destroyed basically and don’t want to pay for the maintenance support down the road.

I agree with your points but the car i'snt affordable, a more basic version aimed for familly purpose at a more affordable price could be well received, even if you keep it hybrid and took the plug-in out of it...
Aren't the Pacifica PHEV having catastrophic problems? and not having any 10 year old minivans in stock does not justify an entire brand. The Pacifica starts at just under $40k, and the Kia Carnival is a newer vehicle with more features and starts $4k under the Pacifica.
Great points made. Stellantis, as a whole tries to cater to every market. The problem is the quality overall, sucks. (Stellantis, not Chrysler exclusively) Most of the money for R&D has been sunken into other brands. It also isn’t fair to Chrysler loyalist who want something other than the Minivan but don’t want a Dodge. If we’re being honest, price and quality, and value sells. It’s really that simple lol.
Your points are well taken. The problem is Stellantis doesn't do much (anything) that makes good sense, unless the goal is to destroy several iconic American brands and eliminate about 50% of their dealer network. Look for BYD to buy Chrysler and produce lots of cheap (tariff free) EVs in former Chrysler plants in Canada, Mexico, and maybe even Michigan or Illinois.
I hear you on Stellantis not making good decisions. Chrysler, Jeep, & Dodge have always done these partnerships where they bring way more to the table but sell themselves short.

The Pacifica is a nice rig, there’s a lot of them on the road. Good point too about 3rd row seating in a midsize suv. Good luck fitting in the third row of our highlander if you’re older than 8.
I'm having trouble finding the 140k sales figure you mentioned. Could you share your source? Most of the Pacifica sales figures I found show around 120k sales in 2023 (first year of the EV Tax Credit) and in 2018 (the first year of the redesign). Sales from 2019 to 2022 are all below 100k, sometimes significantly. Even if the Pacifica is a great product, it's in a declining segment. Rebranding it under Dodge and offering it at a slightly lower price could make it more competitive against the Sienna or Odyssey.
