lol have you even driven one? I got mine last year in April now have 19k miles on it, prior to that I test drove the Colorado and Tacoma and was not at all impressed tbh the engine on the new frontier is plenty power, you’ll be hitting 50 in a jisp, at first yeah the transmission was a bit weird an jumpy but that is now gone and I have not had any issues

    • @michaelstrang2563

@@Adriangee818 The new higher trim ranger and the turbo max Colorado have incredible amounts of torque with engines and transmissions from full size trucks with much higher towing ratings than you will ever use in a midsize truck. They are far more useful if you use them for work, say what you will about Chevy and ford reliability, but they aren’t really even in the same class performance wise. The turbo max puts out 430 pound feet of torque at 3000 rpm and like 390 at 2000 rpm plus it was designed by their diesel team and has forged internals. The ranger will have the option of the 2.7 eco boost v6 which is another powerful and proven engine. The frontier will be great off-roading because you are in 4 low and will already have all that mechanical advantage, but it won’t be close to as good of a work truck for those not interested in spending 70k plus on a truck that will be beaten to death, but still need the power of a full size truck.

The new Tacoma is a gift to Nissan. If you want to buy a brand new Tacoma V6 with a powerful seamless drive train, simple proven mechanicals, a 20 year long great reliability record, all in a well-assembled truck made in the USA, Toyota has the perfect truck for you - The Nissan Frontier. I’d also mention it’s available at a fair price and without insane dealer mark-ups.

This is funny, after all the Toy Boys saying Frontier has bad resale value. Its bad for me if I want a used one, but Nissan has earned its overdue recognition. They were once king of the hill with the Datsun trucks, and have ALWAYS made a very durable rig. Then somehow Toyota became the supposed premium brand, even as Tacoma frames rotted away while Nissans kept on trucking. Having a Nissan of some kind in my hands since 1980, and driving the same HARDBODY for almost 30 years, I salute Nissan for their intelligence in choosing specs on the new best compact truck.

Toyota was the only company to drop overall mpgs in the past 5 years hence the switch to v6 turbo. Nissan still sells a lot of cars so their average doesn't suffer. vehicles costing too much and not made that well? Blame 1) the C.A.F.E. standards that prevent buyers from getting what we want and can afford 2) manufacturers that instead of telling the government to ‘shove it’bow down to them 3) dealers with unnesessary mark ups 4) banks with higher intersest rates 5) buyers that spend the money for inferior vehicles 6) The UAW union that went on strike demanding a 4 day work week with 5 day pay. 7) the government that ‘in order to make things better and safer’ actually don’t make things better and safer 8) Covid shut downs where most people were forced to stay home and the government paid you money they didn’t have to do nothing breaking the supply chain. 9) an artificial EV mandate forcing everyone to buy something they don’t want and isn’t ready and the electrical needed to power them is not ready. Not paying nitrogen scam is pretty easy. Tell the sales guy you will only pay for the air that was put in the tires at the factory. The air that was already present when it rolled off the truck. That air is already included in the base price of the vehicle.

My 2012 Gen 2 Frontier SL was bulletproof for 11 years and a 160K miles. Traded that in for a 2024 SV Crew Cab long bed with all the available bells and whistles. No one mentions it, but Nissan adding an extra inch to the bed, making it 6ft 1inch long, was genius. That extra inch can make a big difference sometimes. It's such a nice truck with its silky smooth 3.8 310hp V6. I would have got the Pro-4X if it was offered with a long bed, but for reasons unknown to me, Nissan doesn't offer that configuration. I see a lot more Frontiers these days, and I attribute that to the V6 compared to the Tacoma 4-banger. Folks don't want a 4-banger in a truck. Then, the Frontier is made in America versus the Mexican Tacoma.

Especially if you start talking complaining to the FTC or other regulatory body. The air we breath contains I believe 70% Nitrogen... That dealer is smoking crack and I'd let them know. A dealer tried that shit here in Vegas. The customer went to the local media. Needless to say that crap stopped.

The chickens came home to roost for Toyota. The fan boys are running around like chickens with their heads cut off and saying they will only buy 2nd gens. The tacomas are entering the malaise era with little improvements and high prices. Just like the big 3 did during the 70s and 80s. Nissan makes a good truck and we don't have to constantly hear the resale/reliability rhetoric all the time from the owners.

I understand about not wanting the short bed but you can get a 4x4 in the SV that has the long bed. The Pro4X is designed for more extreme off-roading enthusiasts and the shorter wheel base has a better break over angle for crawling and other similar situations.

    9) MADE IN AMERICA
    10) last but not least PRICE
    Cons
Per Consumer Reports: We expect the 2024 Frontier will be less reliable than the average new car. This prediction is based on data from 2022 and 2023 models, plus the Nissan brand scores.
The Nissan Frontier suffers from a few common problems, which include engine issues, transmission issues, defective airbags and paint chipping.
Heavy Hydraulic power steering not electronic power steering
    Poor turning radious
    No telescoping steering wheel
    No rear air vents
    Small back seat
No long bed on the Pro-4X
    Issues with the cruise control
No lane keep assist because it has hydraulic power steering
Transmissions issues with the parking paul pin
The rear differential leaks and service intervals every 20,000 miles
The noise inside the cabin is loud compared to the Ridgeline
Smaller cramped interior compared to the Ridgeline
The interior seems outdated and old
There is a class action suit over the paint, the class action alleges 2017-present Nissan vehicles have been coated with defective paint primer that is not durable enough to withstand the rigors of daily driving and causing paint peeling.
The 23-page suit claims that the primer, a preparatory coating that allows paint to better adhere to a surface and increases durability, has caused affected vehicles to become substantially devalued. The case alleges the automaker has known for several years that the primer it uses is defective yet has not disclosed the problem to consumers and has outright refused to repair the issue free of charge.

Its frustrating that the same thing isn't happening with the Titan. The Titan is the closest thing you can get to the previous generation Tundra and the new Tundras are expensive and full of Gremlins. Like the Frontier, Titans should be selling much better by stealing market share from Toyota, but its too late now. Also, you can get a new Titan today for only a few thousand more than a new Frontier, so I would have expected a lot of buyers to step up and opt for the Titan.

I ended up buying an F-150 coyote V8 last month, but I was looking hard at Titans. You can get a fully loaded Titan Pro 4X for $12K under MSRP and 0%. Check Newton Nissan of Gallatin, TN (outside Nashville). I was super close to flying there from Delaware, but just couldn't pass on the Coyote. Sounds so freaking good with Borla S exhaust, and you just don't see the aftermarket support for the Titan that you do for the F-150.

I haven't owned a truck in a while now, but if I were to buy a truck it would either be the F-150 with the Coyote V8, or the Frontier. Other that its a nice truck. Everyone cries about turbos just like they did when Ford went Ecoboost in the F150 almost 15 years ago. Guess what? There's tons of Ecobooost engines with over 200k miles on the road with the original turbos. The 2.7 in the Colorado has been solid.
