      The Frontier is horrible off-road, that is the main problem with the truck. Even with a rear locker, the wheel braking to assist in difficult situation is horrible. And this is a fact, if you search online -- you will find this is the work midsize truck off-road out of all the major brand trucks available.

    I own a rare '23 Pro 4X King Cab longbed. I absolutely love it. I agree the issues highlighted are incidental. I experienced the absolutely crazy programming of the cruise control. I took it in to the dealer and they reprogrammed it and it now works perfectly. I have done a few upgrades. I had some minor rear bumper damage and took the opportunity to install the Expedition One bumper. Much more robust. I also recently saw a screaming deal on a performance package from Z1 (cat back exhaust, air intake system, plenum spacer and Ecutek flash). It made the already great engine much more daily driveable. The exhaust is slightly louder than I would have like under load, reasonably quiet highway cruising on flats.

    I bought a 2024 about a month ago. My complaint is always having to remember to push the auto stop-start button every time I fire it up. That feature should be defaulted to OFF and only turned on if the driver wants it.

      Yeah, I also turn off the auto start/stop every time I get in. Unfortunately, that's not a Nissan thing and more a governmental regulation thing. Seems all vehicles in the next 10 years or so will have that feature and it won't be able to be disabled, :(.

    I just bought a used 2023 Pro-4x 3 weeks ago. I took it out on the K-Trail in Oklahoma and the only issue I had is clearance. I see a lift in the future. Since I bought this strictly for trailing and camping, it's the right size for me. There are a couple of hills that I have to go up getting to our place in OK that every vehicle I have shoots up to 4000+ rpm if I have the cruise on so that's not a big deal. Since I have to drive 4 hours or more to get to any good trails I wanted something that felt as good on road as it does off, and gets good gas mileage. I am getting about the same mpg as I do in my modified Forester. I did consider an SV king cab but the price for a used base SV was only 2K less than the fully loaded Pro-4x I purchased.

    Hey, I’m sitting in Zambia right now watching your video. On my 2023 Pro 4x my issues are the drivers seat reclining back after turning the truck off, the radio randomly turning on and one of the USB-C stopped working. All these will be sorted out at the dealer when I return. I’ve had my truck since February and have put 17k miles on it. One trip I drove from Nashville TN to Santa Fe NM and back in 2 days. This is the most comfortable vehicle I’ve ever owned. I had zero aches and pains after driving all day. Zero problems with the truck and I averaged 21 mpg. I guess the only issue that I can’t fix is you really can’t do a proper U-turn because it doesn’t turn sharp enough. Love the truck and would buy again.

      I realized it was actually my leg hitting the recline button when I would get out of the truck. The longer it took me to get out of the truck, the lower the seat would go 🤣 I am not sure if that is the case for everyone, but that is what happened to me.

    The complaint I hear is camera resolution. Back up cam is fine, I don’t need it to be 4K. The front cam, would be nice if it were clearer. Fine for parking, but on the trails, sharper would be nice. But steep climbs where all you see is sky out the windshield, the cam does its job.

      It has 4 doors so people expect the backseat to be useful if no they why even have those 2 extra door. It might not be as spacious as a previous gen tundra which is massive but if a backpack is wider than the seat then that’s probably what they are complaining about. Or maybe manufacturers can simply extend the cabins by 6 to 8 inches. However, they won't do that in order to milk ppl of all their money. The only other option is to buy a full-size pickup, but that costs an extra $15k to 20k. Also, most ppl dont need the power of a half-ton pickup anyways. A midsize truck with about 38" of rear legroom would make a lot of ppl happy.

    I bought my 2024 Nissan Pro X a year ago. I love the truck; although I don't off-road, I do pull a camper. It's great. I had an issue with the transmission at month 11, when the truck jumped out of gear. They ran the computer test, and Nissan said to replace the transmission. They did, and all is good. The replacement is less noticeable in the shifting of gears than what came originally. I agree; the price and styling are tops. I hurt the Toyota dealer salesman's feelings when I said the Nissan had a better style than the Toyota. :) PS Mine is Bouller Gray like yours. A very sharp look. Thanks for the video.

    I really like this truck. I'm an old Toyota guy myself but Nissan is really beginning to shine. And that's an excellent idea about getting the SV & upgrading the rear diff for a lot less money. Thank you for that.

      @@timberlineconstruction1181 yeah, it is tight into the driveline so there are some concerns there. You could always run it for the first few years without and then upgrade it later once you’re out of warranty anyways. You might find out you don’t really use as much as you thought or that, it’s not necessary.

      I have only purchased the e-locker for a Titan rear end, but they should either be the same or very similar. If you search for Nissan Frontier M226 rear end, you should find some options. The one I bought was a Spicer e-locker which I believe is the OEM unit.

      Agree. It's not a huge deal and you wouldn't HAVE to do anything about it, but it's just a thing I guess. Not ideal, but not as bad as ECU problems or Trans problems like I've had with other makes.

    Is there a particular year to avoid or shoot for considering longevity of the engine over everything else. I want it to last and be dependable long term. Appreciate any info.

    • @AllThingsOverlanding
      @AllThingsOverlanding  2 месяца назад

      Thanks! All the 2nd gens are pretty great. You're pretty close to the best years of them too in your range there. I believe 08 was the preferred year because by then they had addressed all of the SMOD issues on these engines (in the Xterra and Frontier-check out clubfrontier.org and search "SMOD" and you'll see more on that). I still have an 08 sitting in my driveway with 220K miles on it and it still runs great. Of course, if you can find a 2015 with decent mileage, those would probably be your best bet if they fit in the budget.

    I have a 2023 Pro 4X. I got used to the heavy steering pretty quickly. I do find the lack of telescoping steering pretty annoying. I'm 6' and constantly adjusting the seat because I always feel like either my legs are cramped or the wheel is too far away. Gas mileage has been not great in the city. Generally I'm pretty happy with it though. It's a sharp looking truck and I like the shifting of the 9 speed.

    • @AllThingsOverlanding
      @AllThingsOverlanding  2 месяца назад

      Yeah, these trucks have never been great on gas. I'm coming from a 2008 2nd gen Frontier with a Titan swap and 35's to this so my gas mileage before 33's was almost double my old truck and even with a lift, 33's, and lots of gear, I'm still probably getting about 7-8 MPG better than my old truck, so there's a bit of bias there for me.

    I just picked up a 23 SV. I notice it has a crackling popcorn sound when the exhaust is cooling when the truck is off. I know vehicles often do this but this is at a new level on this truck. Even if the truck is warm and is running i can slightly hear it if my window is down. Anyone upgrade the exhaust and did this sound improve?

    • @AllThingsOverlanding

      That's weird. Like you mean the "tinking" of metal cooling off? Or like an exhaust burble?
