I spent a lot of time researching a half ton pickup. At first I thought I wanted a Tundra TRD Pro, but got instant sticker shock. Then I looked at the GMC AT4 and the Chevy ZR2...again really expensive. Then looked at the F-150 Tremor and Ram Rebel. $$$$$ if I wanted to get the V8. Came across a few videos about the Titan and really dug in. All the features I wanted, without turbos, hybrids, auto-stop/start, cylinder deactivation stuff I didn't. Plus the price was great.
Sent out half a dozen emails to dealers in a 100 mile radius asking for OTDs on specific Pro4x's on their respective lots. Heard back from a few, but not all. Went to one dealership on a Sunday to check out the truck in person. Liked it. Few weeks later the truck was still on the lot so I got pre-approved for a loan and went in for a test drive. I was not disappointed.
Ended up getting it for $11,000 under MSRP ($65,160...the number is burned into my memory) and got a good deal on my '16 Wrangler. I was more pleased with this buying experience than any I've had in my lifetime. Best part, the truck is fantastic. Responsive, comfortable. I've only had it for a little over a week, so still in the honeymoon phase, but I'm pleased with my decision. It's my first Nissan.
Thanks for putting together a solid, impartial review.

'23 Titan Pro 4X bought in September '23, traded an '18 F-150 FX4 5.0. Like the truck so far, getting 18 mpg combined with 7k on the OD. Alignment right out of the gate (steering wheel off center), transfer case actuator recall, auto tailgate lock not connected, then the the tailgate lock actuator needed replacing, the radio head/LCD needed replacing because of permanent imprints of the screen, so I put a glass screen protector on the new one. One of the few things I don't like as much as the F-150 is less room and storage in the back seat as the wheelbase is about 4" shorter. My dealership has a great service department which makes a huge difference. I'm going to make sure to adhere to the recommended service intervals to keep my 5 year/100,000 mile intact. I can afford to put the recommended premium gas and it does make a difference in power and smoothness. No leaks from my sunroof or rear window, I checked. If you want a longer wheelbase, longer bed and more towing I think a loaded XD would be the ticket. Nissan should keep making this truck, but the govt. CAFE regs are the problem.

Solid review and yes the other manufactures are having way bigger issues than what you mentioned with your Titan. Titan is probably the most reliable 1/2 ton right now.
I have a 13 with 130k. Tows often. It’s only had 2 issue worth mentioning in 10 years. The passenger side rear axle seal started leaking at 105,000 miles. Pretty easy and cheap fix if you can do it yourself. The starter did not fail but showed signs it was going to at 125,000 miles. Starter is under the manifold so pretty pricey if I were to take it to a shop but I did that myself. I really can’t complain about how it’s treated me. Titans since day 1 have been criminally underrated.

I bought my 23 Nissan Titan p4x for 58k OTD in 10/23. The truck has not had any issues as I now have 15k miles on it. So far I have added the factory ICON 3" lift which makes the truck look better but so much smoother on/off-road. I live in the Northern NV where I off road pretty regularly and people are shocked at how well it does considering its a "Nissan" but it has a 56:1 low range transfer case ,factory locking rear differential and factory 33's these are far superior options to the last gen Tundra . I highly recommended buying this tank of a truck and putting on the ICON lift kit to make it ride like firm caddy.

Just brought home my ‘24 Titan Pro4X. Same exact truck as yours with features and options except it’s gun metal gray. Paid just over $53k out the door. Yes, that includes taxes and all fees. 0% financing and the 5yr 100k bumper to bumper warranty made this truck a no brainer. The naturally aspirated V8 WITHOUT that stupid fuel management is right up my alley as an old school gen x’er. Had the F150 ecoboost with the twin turbos. Never again! Damn shame that the federal government is pushing electric so hard, that Nissan felt compelled to sacrifice the Titan to convert their southern plant into a EV plant. I fully expect that Nissan will see the error in their ways in about 2 yrs. Then we will see the Titan return. I only buy new vehicles when it makes sense. This Titan just made sense. I don’t really care about the resale value because on average, I keep my trucks about 10yrs.

Hi, I picked up the same truck in December but a pearl blue XD version, 2023 model. I don't think there are any differences to the 2024. Your review and fussiness are spot on. I have noticed all these items on mine and have the exact same experiences, I have noticed that the downshift issue rarely happens but when it does it's if I coast to a stop. If I brake to a stop it never happens to me or l probably don't notice it. I have over 18K miles on mine and just got back from a Montana trip, drove through Idaho and the speed limit is 85MPH, I usually drive slightly over the speed limit and I averaged just under 20MPG. I was not towing anything but the truck was loaded. I'm in agreement, the mileage on a truck this size with a NA V8 is actually not that bad. Now I have experienced the head unit lock up issue and have traced it to when I switch from Bluetooth to a wired Apple Carplay. If I need to charge my phone (occasionally the head unit doesn't make that switchover properly when I plug the phone into the USB port). If I remember to turn off the BT when I connect to the USB, this problem never happens. I will probably add a wireless charging pad to eliminate having to connect the phone to the USB all together. My Titan is replacing an '09 Frontier that has over 218K trouble free miles. I'm hoping to get the same level of reliability from the Titan. Since I'm close to retirement, if I do, this might well be the last truck I buy. This is an excellent review of a great truck that has just the right amount of technology for an excellent value. Hate to see it go but who knows if and when it might come back. Oh by the way if you want to sell your bed rail handle give me a shout out.

    • @videozar_
      @videozar_  13 дней назад +1

Thanks for the great comment Mario. Sounds like other than the head unit, we've had very similar experiences. I had a Subaru with freezing/disconnecting issues. There's so many factors these days...but your assumption about BT might be it. As for that bed handle, I'm going to hang onto it. I intend to find some sort of extension for it so it'd still fit on the rail under the tonneau cover. Just haven't gotten around to doing so yet. Thanks again...

I have a 24 Sv I picked up in March and so far so good. Thanks for mentioning the Transmission stopping thing. I thought it was just mine, I explained it to the Tech but maybe I described it wrong and when they test drove it, didn’t happen. Other items I don’t like, seat belt (digs into your neck), I bought seatbelt extenders and that helps. Also the angle of the radio, if the sun is high, it can block out the screen. Overall for the price, can’t complain. On resale, who knows what the future hold with truck prices out of control and so many new engines out there with potential problems. Maybe these take an upswing at some point. Not worried though, I’ll have mine for 10 years plus God willing.

21’ Titan Pro4x, 36000 miles on it in a bit over two years. Two issues I’ve had. The lurching when coming to a stop transmission early on, but they reprogrammed the transmission, 90% resolved it. At 30000 they had to replace throttle body & gasket. That’s it, short list. Drives better than any of the other current 1/2tons. I get 20-21mpg highway. Rural/in town 16ish. I’d definitely buy another one. And, my dogs also like it a lot too.

I have. the same truck and color in 2021 model. Love the color, the rode is great, motor is amazing. Nissan went cheap on some of the interior pieces I to covered the info screen soon as I bought it because of the issues with it, No problem with screen cover. I had a vibration noise inside the left driver side pillar to roof line. Dealership fixed that problem solved but it was super annoying. The front grill is cheaply painted plastic and it chips bad by rocks. Never had one do it that easily. Have a 2014 ford fx4 that still has none to this day. DOnt like the opening of doors was they dont fully open to allow better angles into the truck or ,loading stuff. Hate the steering, its very heavy especially parking the truck So if you dont like the old style heavy steering dont buy it. Seats. are great, sound system is good, sunroof is great and no leaks so far. I have added the front grill markers lights(some say raptor lights) and changed the fog lights to amber to match. Great looking truck and reliable for the money. The V8 is great to have in traffic as it can really move in and out if needed. Have 35K now and hope to get many more without any major issues but the warranty is great and ical dealer has been great to fix issues. Will I buy another not sure yet but it's a great truck.

Here is the reason you do not buy it now. When a problem does occur, there likely won't be parts to replace it. The manufacturer has stopped making many replacement parts for a while now. Meaning years. Mechanics are increasingly not finding what they need to make basic fixes. So if you plan on making a truck that you are keeping long term, I'd keep that in mind.

Beautiful truck! I think that the Pro4X is the best looking truck on the road. I also live in the Nashville area and purchased a Frontier in 2019 and love it, over 82,000 trouble free miles. I’m seriously looking at the Titan and moving up to full size. It’s a shame that Nissan didn’t market this truck better and will stop making them. Like I tell everyone, go to any dealers website, pick out a pickup truck then go to the specs on it and you will see that the Titan is rated to tow more than the Ford or Chevy in the same configuration; a 4 door 4 wheel drive model.

Own a 21 SV with the option packages. Over 60,000 miles now with only routine oil changes and tire rotations. Been a great truck. I want to get another Titan this year before they are all sold. Discontinued doesn't bother me that much since i know since having one already that im not too concerned plus having the 5yr 100,000 mile warranty on it. Just waiting for another good deal. Had 0% 84 months on the last one. Shooting for another end of the year kinda deal hopefully. Enjoy the rig. 🙏

I recently test drove a titan. I enjoyed it. No complanits about my test drive, but it was an SV trim. Talked to the salesperson, and he wasn't convinced the Titan was going away and just getting a redesign with a v6 engine. Apparently, Nissian has mixed messages to dealers about the Titan' future. That is what I took from what the salesperson was saying. The only reason I looked at the Titan was the reliability and no electronic gear nob. My current truck has a v8 but electronic nob, but I don't trust it, especially if it senses an error.

Thanks for the tip about the screen protector, where did you get yours if you don't mind sharing?
Two day owner here, the same equipment as yours. Loving it so far but only 126 miles driven.
Even though it's an older design, the vertical stack of the infotainment and climate controls etc, are more appealing to my eyes. This truck has a lot of single function buttons which I like.
You didn't mention steering feel in your review, this truck has great steering and is medium heavy weighted, it has better feedback than any other truck in this class IMHO, one of the reasons I purchased it. Tracks very well on the freeway.

  • @YourHuntingBuddy

My 2024 has the same issue as you. It's not a delayed downshift. It's an issue only with found with the pro 4x model. Your truck has a higher stance than the SV. It's the rear spline resetting itself as it comes to a stop. The spline kind of pops back into place. Mine went away after it was packed with grease and wore in. Got my info from a nissan pro tech.
Good luck with the truck. I love mine. I had a 2020 tundra and went to a titan because I couldn't bring myself to buy a turbo. I'm glad I did given the toyota issues.
My top 3 trucks I owned are the 2000 Xterra, my 2017 frontier and my 2020 tundra. All bullet proof trucks.
My 2024 is new to me with only 5000 miles. I love it so far.
