Great video, I agree with all of it. I've had 5 Titans, a 2010 King cab, 14 crew cab, an 18 & 19 XD cummins and my current 2023 Pro4x. 2023 is the most comfortable truck I've ever driven, fuel mileage is good for what it is. My only cons are the radio screen connectivity can be spotty and it generally seems to have some gremlins, and the transmission is not to love. I think the trans issues are more related to it being a 9 speed, seems to search a lot at lower speeds. If anyone reads this btw, don't bother with a cummins.

Thanks. Dang 5 Titans! Thats awesome! You are definitely the expert on Titans, past and present. Ha. I agree that the 9 spd transmission has some kinks to work out. My truck has its moments when I accelerate. It seems to be inconsistent when trying to accelerate. I hope your 23 P4X treats you well. Thanks for the comment! I just purchased a 24 Nisan Titan Pro4x. I love the sound of the V8, looks and the comfort level on long trips. This truck is a beast. Bought it with a 5 yr 0 % interest rate, 9,500 discount and on top of that I get free oil changes for life. 5 yr/100,000 mile warranty gotta love that too.

I own a 2021 Nissan Pro4X, I really appreciated this truck last winter (2023) when we got 3 to 4 feet of snow at my house in Las Padres National Forest just north of Los Angeles. The Titan was able to just drive over the snow without any problems. Even in 20 degree weather the truck started on first try, and performed better than expected. Recently I had to tow a 7000 pound trailer from Petaluma, California to Burbank, California, mileage average about 11 to 12 miles to the gallon. The Titan had no problem going up the Grapevine on I-5, in fact I was passing cars going up the grade with ease. I definitely recommend this truck and some dealers like AV Nissan offer a 200,000, 20 year warranty for any new Nissan. Nissan offers probably the best warranty of any manufacturer in the business.

    • @jamarcusjoe
      @jamarcusjoe  Год назад +5

That’s great to hear stories like that. I believe a lot of people are on the fence about Titans because they don’t really know the capabilities because they’re not marketed well. I think it’s by word of mouth people really know what the trucks are capable of. What I tell people is that the 5.6L engine has been around for along time and can pull it’s fair share and accept abuse. I haven’t heard about the 200k mile warranty, that’s wild! That tells me Nissan will stand behind its product. I’m a believer and couldn’t be more happy with my truck. I’m glad your truck is treating you well. Owning a Titan in CA has to hurt at the gas pumps. I lived in San Diego for a few years with a Altima and Maxima and cringed at the gas pumps. Lol. Also, to your point about towing I also towed 7k lbs and averaged 11-13 mpg.

I have recently picked up the same truck, same package and options. I'm coming from an SV and a diesel Pro-4x XD before that. I missed the pro-4x package with the SV a lot more than I thought I would. So, here I am, back in a pro-4x.
I 've owned 4 Titans all together, had a first gen as well. I'm not sure why I've stayed with them for so long. I would guess it's just the fact that I know what I'm going to get with a Titan, aside for packages and options my 2023 performs very similar to my 07. Yes, I know nissan's paint isn't awesome, I know the interior bits are on the cheap side. It's probably not as refined as some of the competitors. But to me it feels and acts like a traditional truck (just more comfortable). I've never had a serious issue with any of them. (didn't keep the diesel for very long, loved the truck but the cummins and transmission scared me, a warranty doesn't mean much if parts aren't available and you get rid of all of your diesel mechanics).
I have 500 miles on the new one and so far, it's what I expected and I'm good with that. Another great video man, keep up the good work!

You are the Titan expert! Ha. I’m impressed that you’re a repeat buyer. I agree with your statement of it may not be as refined as the competitors but the truck is simple and it works. Although, it does have cheap material its not as bad and doesn’t take away from the functionality of the truck. I hope the 2023 P4X serves you well. Enjoy and I’d be curious if you run into any issues.

That 5 year 100K warranty saved him big time. 5.6 Engine 2017-2018 have low oil pressure issue in the #7 cylinder and this is common according to the dealer. They had to replace the engine with a new long block. Between parts and labor I think it was over $8K. Took 2 weeks to fix. Nissan only offered a 12 month 12,000 mile warranty on it. I figured a 3 year 36,000 mile warranty. Other than that its been a decent truck for him. Also he had the 20" chrome wheels replaced under warranty due to the chrome flaking off. Hey Jay, TITAN XD PRO 4X 2021 owner here. Great truck but I also had the random camera outage problem but got it fixed. Here is how I did it.
Took it into the dealer under warranty and they ended up replacing the entire passenger side mirror assembly which included the camera, no issues since.
Per them this has been something they’ve seen on not just the Titans but also some other vehicles like the Rogues.
I was able to demonstrate the problem by putting the vehicle in park, hitting the 360 camera button and then if I opened and slammed the passenger door (where the camera was located) it would flicker and Fritz out. That was the piece of the puzzle that I missed. If I opened and closed the passenger door the camera would go wonky.
Anyhow, it was replaced at zero cost under warranty. Hope you see this and can get it replaced under warranty also! Great video, sir!

@@jamarcusjoe the key for me was being able to consistently demonstrate the fault. Just randomly putting it in reverse didn’t do it because you know it wasn’t 100% of the time it would fail. I needed a repeatable failure.
That said having some photos/videos of the failure plus being able to put in park with the 360 camera on and slamming the door showing how video cut out and was easy to consistently replicate when combined with the photo & video proof was to spur the dealership to act under warranty.
They ended up getting a totally new passenger side mirror assembly (which included a new camera) and it has worked flawlessly in the several months since.

@@jamarcusjoe just humor me and try this, my man. Put her in park and then hit the camera button on your dash to activate the 360 camera. Roll down your passenger window so you can easily see inside. Get out, go around to the passenger side, open and slam closed your passenger door. Does the passenger side camera flicker or fail? If so, there’s the repeatable proof. Opening and closing the door shouldn't cause the camera to go wonky, even temporarily. That plus the evidence showing what it was otherwise doing was enough to make them fix it.
Also we found that when the camera was failing if you opened and then slammed the passenger door it would kick it back into working again. When I had that epiphany it was what gave me the idea of “hmm, let’s put her in park, hit the camera and slam the door to try and replicate the fault” and that’s what I came up with. A demonstrated repeatable failure that I could show them.
You know how it is with mechanics. If you can’t get it to fail under their nose they are not gonna admit the problem exists much less fix it especially under warranty.

We have a ‘16 XD PlatRes diesel and wouldn’t trade it for anything. We bought it in ‘17 for a steep discount to make way for the ‘17s. Between that and trading in our ‘06 Titan we drove it off the lot for $31k. We were 5 years from retirement and needed a truck that would take us well into retirement. And it has worked out perfectly. It tows our camper and toys without effort and it handles everything AK throws at it. And without being in the shop all the time like our friends’ Big 3 trucks.

I agree with the comments on the personal user view. I've been flip-flopping on what to get coming from an '08 Armada LE. It's videos like this that damn near seal the deal for me. And then I watch a video on something else and think maybe that's what I want. The warranty and the sound of the V8 just keep me coming back to it. I test drove a '24 a few days ago and although I think my Armada is a little smoother ride, I think I would be happy with the Titan. I see sooo many positive comments on them I just don't think I'd be happy in anything less.

I read on some online forum of a Titan owner that put over million miles.
    3 secrets:
Amsoil oil change every 5k (year round). But any other oil brand synthetic 3k
    If not towing...
    Trans/differentials/Radiator/transfer case fluid every 25k
    If towing/commercial use...
Trans/Radiator/Differentials/Transfer Case fluid every 20k (summer) vs 15k (winter due to salt residue).
91 recommended or 87 with fuel additive. Thats it.
The truck will go a million miles on that V8 NA engine/transmission no questions asked.
Walmart Auto Services can do the services for pretty cheap price.

It may sound concerning that 2024 is the last year, but Don't let the discontinuation sway you. As long as Nissan is still a company, you will still have availability to service and parts. Titan is a good, solid truck. But if you are still on the fence on weather to buy, I would lease the vehicle and have the ability to turn it back in after your lease if you see that Nissan Titan is not the way you want to go. I got a 2021 titan s crew cab in dec only 18k miles on it basically new.. had no clue about trim levels or anything else... my advice if your getting a titan go for the XD seems all the parts/aftermarket stuff was made for the XD .. getting parts/aftermarket for S model is pretty dang hard. On the positive side as the OP video poster mentions since I have a basic S model I get the most towing capacity and longer vehicle life span as there are less electronics to fail less bulbs to change etc.. .overall will get more life from the vehicle as less moving parts in general. My choices was this 2021 titan s which I got that had 18k miles on it or a 2017 XD with like 45k miles on it.. had I known anything about trim levels I would have taken the 2017 XD with 45k on it...not knowing anything about trim levels at the time I took the one with 18k miles on it that was leased to 1 person for a year.
At the end of the day .. I still got a very nice truck with 18k miles on it though.. so ... : ) I love driving my truck it just feels nice.. I also got offered to fix my product recall notice.. I declined them at the time.. its the airbag recall.. I would rather them leave a working truck alone and working.. I have heard some stories about dealerships messing up people's vechiles when they do free work because if nothing else they simply have poorer work habits as they don't care since its free. You having steering issues after your recall work just says to me I def should make sure the dealership that does it is known to only do quality work.
If there are any cons it would be parts for basic models is very limited.

All that matters is that you love driving your truck. I agree with your points, especially getting the XD. If I could do it all over again, I would get the XD.
