I have had 2 frontiers and 2 tacomas in the last 15 years, I never had any of them in the shop for any repairs and the only maintaince on all of them was oil changes and routine maintaince, Both are great choices and i feel comparing the 2 the nissan is the better value but the tacoma has a better suspension and seats, so for a 7,000 dollar savings the frontier is the best choice in my book.
I had a 2ng gen Frontier for 10 years and recently bought a 3rd gen. There's no magic in engine efficiency. You'll save gas if you have cylinder-shut-off tech or turbo charging, both of which can be finicky and both of which have reliability issues. A hybrid engine means you give up space for batteries. You're right about the average mileage. I get a bit over 17 mpg, but I save by having zero repair bills down the line. I'm also a rare breed of truck purchaser. I want a utility vehicle for personal use. This is my second king cab with the plastic drop-in bedliner without either the technology or convenience packages, meaning there are fewer complications and fewer things to fail.
I’m right there with you. I want simple, durable and reliable. The less tech gadgets the better. My frontier is a 2012 and is a tank. Other than fluids and brakes. I have replaced 1 batteries cable end for 70 bux in total so far.
Have a 2014 SL ; all I need is there on my white truck, heater seats on winter , sunroof for my long rides ; electric seats ; backup camera; and 6 ft bed to get anything on it …
Turbo charging doesn't save anyone money...any potential fuel cost saving is lost in increased manufacturing cost and complexity as well as shortened service life of the engine.
I had a Honda that did that same thing with remote start... I think they all do that and require an ignition press for a key check. I dislike the low res camera, but its not a big deal... but none of the others are a concern to me. Frontiers are good trucks. I have no want for a 4 door though... King Cab and a 6 foot bed is where its at 🙂
There is a software update for the cruise control. just had it done to my 23 SV. it makes all the difference in the world. refer to technical service bulletin NTB24-005. must have a build date before june 2023 but if it qualifies (and yours probably does because i believe after june 23 they came corrected). takes 30 mins at the dealer for the update and it will completely cure the cruise problem and i swear the transmission just feels better all around.
@daveallen7767 this is like saying..... I bought a house with a new roof but it leaks so just throw a tarp over it! Just so you know, I've had the update done and it works better but not great! I'm currently in a Jeep Wrangler rental and it's adaptive cruise works beautifully. Nissan clearly dropped the ball with their's!
If I were in the market, this would be my next vehicle. Can't stand all the tech and turbos in these newer trucks. Nice shirt! 🇺🇲 Edit: The shut-off is probably a security feature. Keeps someone from stealing the truck while you're not around. It would be too easy to throw a brick through your window and drive away while it's running. It's probably making sure you have the key fob.
I have a 22 SV 4X4 6’ box and love it. It cost 15-20k less than a F150 with a turbo 4 in it(why you’d by a full size PU with a 4 banger is beyond me, even the turbo 6 forget it). I have 310 hp which is more than enough. Don’t have leather and don’t need it. I have a garage door opener on my cell phone. You don’t need bells and whistles.
@@geedubb-q1u there's no turbo 4 in the F150. Ranger has that. F150 has a N/A 3.3v6, A 2.7ecoboost, a 3.5ecoboost, a 3.5 H.O. ecoboost and the N/A 5.0 V8. 4 v6s and a v8 The only full size pickup you can buy with a turbo 4 is the Silverado with a 2.7 turbo 4. Same engine in the Colorado/Canyons
There is a Nissan technical safety bulletin about that issue with the cruise control. Simple software update that takes about 40 mins. Take your truck to Nissan and they can fix it. My truck has been wildly different since doing the update. Truck doesn't drop to 5000+ RPM and race to catch back up.
The 2025 has a new design and few more features updated; have a 2014 SL all I do for maintenance is oil change , brakes , tire rotation and up to go , never an engine light , air bag light issues …
I just got one literally yesterday (S version) and man it is a crazy deal for the money - 2023, custom wheels/tires, gray, 4x4, 9k miles for $29k OTD - I agree with the dislikes, but coming from a 2013 g37 this truck is still a massive upgrade for me
I agree with you on all your dislikes, I have a few more. I dislike the size of the bed. I wish it was bigger. I hate the fact that heated seats weren't available in my frontier s. It was available as an option for more money! The last thing I dislike is that I don't have a sliding rear window. I love the look of the truck the way it drives and handles. Thank you for your video!
As for the remote start feature turning the car off if you don’t press the button, is for safety. It prevents your car being stolen. If you press the button and the key is not inside the car, it’ll turn off again also.
I almost purchased one, nice truck, every Nissan dealer I talked to was shady AF. Not one dealer would honor their advertised price, always bs add ons.
Just had to fight with the local dealership to get them to do the update on the cruise. First they said that there wasn't any, that's just the way the truck is, then they tried to say that it was out of warranty.... which it wasn't so I gave them the bulletin number that I got from a viewer..... then they finally did the update. 2 days worth of BSing with them!
I feel you with the mpgs. I have a 06 Pathfinder 4 L V6 unless you're on the freeway it's typically 15 to 60 miles per gallon. Nissan engines are built for horsepower and you find yourself using it so if you're hot riding the vehicle around you're gonna get crappy gas mileage it's just the way it is. It's hard to keep your foot out of it. I remember premium fuel as well. Hopefully after break in a while, it'll get better gas mileage. You gotta watch what tires you run on it too. I have BFGoodrich KO twos 10 ply with a heavy tire so my gas morale just stuck like 14 to 15. I do havre over 245000 miles on it. I run Amsoil. Starter just died last month. Original starter.
I recently bought a Base 2016 Canyon and replaced the stock 16-inch rims with 18-inch SLT rims, and my fuel economy dropped by 2 MPG. I then replaced the muffler with a Cherrybomb Vortex muffler and the truck sounds more aggressive, and the fuel economy improved by about 2 MPG. I am also looking at a K&N air intake to replace the stock restrictive intake, and it should also improve fuel economy.
I was the guy who told you to check out the IRONBISON steps. I am ordering the 1 inch spacers from Z-1 myself. I also installed the NISMO red start push button, and the Z-1 RAPTOR grille lights on my 2023 P4X.
The shutdown is an anti-theft thing. You can buy pass the shift interlock and put it in drive pretty quickly with a screwdriver, but you still have to push the shift button so they made it so as soon as you touch it with out confirming key signal by pressing the start button it will die.
My Toyota tundra used to do the same thing with the adaptive cruise control and then slam on the brakes, but I was able to turn it off and just use the cruise control regular. I don’t know if Nissan can do that.
Less problems than ford, chevy and other trucks with turbo and other stuff that only creates headaches and few stops at the dealership to get robbed ..
Been a Nissan Frontier owner since 2006. Mileage is great on a Frontier vs other trucks. I like that Nissan has big screen into the dash because other trucks are awkward. I agree on adaptive cruise but it was mandated by Department of TransportationHighway Administration. Glad Nissan didn't go turbo because Toyota has a lot of dissatisfied customers by going turbo. All my 3 Nissan trucks had over 300,000 miles. All I did was oil changes & tire rotations. Changed iridium plugs every 100, 000 miles. Glad Nissan kept old school because it will last a million miles. It goes & goes forever. Technology Start is odd but makes you wonder if you ever will have to buy a starter in future because my previous ones never been replaced. Very veryvery reliable trucks. Thumbs up.always Nissan Still plenty of 2005-2021Nissan Frontiers out there. That says enough that they are the best along Toyota. Can't beat them.
Actually mpg in 4 cylinders turbo middle size tracks( tachoma, gmc , ranger just little bit better) lats say almost same. But benefits that's engine will last longer and more cheaper to fix I think overcome this.
Big problem is the titan is discounted up to 15000 in areas. So can get into a full size at or below price of frontier. And gad mileage on highway is comprable.
The adaptive cruse can be turned off and run normal. The engine stopping after remote start is pretty normal on a lot of brands. One reason i think is theft and making sure the key is with you when you go to drive.
This is definitely my next truck. I had a Silverado back when they changed over to the cylinder shutoff garbage and it didn't last 60K miles. I bought a Ram with the Pentastar V6 to avoid that AFM crap. Discovered the V6 is a really nice engine. I'm in the market for a replacement truck and Nissan now has the only truck with a decent motor available. No turbo or fuel management here. I can live with the quirks you pointed out. Its still a very nice looking truck with that 3.8 V6 it sounds like a winner. That interior looks really nice. Way better than my Ram. My truck doesn't have a reverse camera so I can live with a less than stellar resolution one.
Brother, I had to laugh about the Adaptive cruise, and the Auto start stories, because you sounded just like me when we got our first vehicle with those options. Especially the Auto Start, and not pushing the start button before you touch anything else. Dang, I've got stories that caused me to speak in tongues. But I will say hang on, you'll get used to both. It just takes a little time. Nice truck by the way. One little thing. It could be the Ford hat that's causing a ripple in the force.😀
I now own a 2023 GMC Acadia AT4. I really love the car. While shopping I actually drove a Frontier because I'm just crazy about them. If the salesman had not been a jackass I'd probably be in a frontier right now. But man I really love this GMC. I probably watch at least one video a day about the frontier. I will probably buy a used one once I pay of the Acadia. These are the best midsize trucks out there in my opinion. Oh, my wife's new CRV does the same thing with the remote start.
Regarding the cruise control. Every car and manufacturer has it tuned differently some people like it to accelerate quickly. I’d agree a gradual acceleration is better but everyone has a different perspective(would be better if the driver could adjust between 3 different modes or that or if you truck has an eco mode to slow the cruise acceleration also….. the auto stop start function like that isn’t all that much of an issue I’ve seen cars where as soon as you open the door it shuts off making you restart the car. What they are trying to do is make sure your surrounding habits are met. Most people are gonna just hop in and drive like that. You start your car you look around and check your surroundings so it brings you back to a good starting routine before driving. And I guess from your previous vehicles your used to getting better gas mileage…… almost all trucks get easily below 18 even as low as 12 in city they are geared for towing and hauling so sitting a lot and idling and doing stop and go traffic a lot hurts your mileage also your truck is a 4x4 which is geared even lower and your wheel spacers pushing the wheels out increases drag hurting mileage further. Bigger/heavier tires and wheels and even a lift kit…… most of your issues for the most part are nit picky but a great review….. check out the TFL truck reviews comparing the other midsize trucks the frontier checks most boxes for a great price and when loaded and towing gets better fuel mileage compared to all the turbo charged competitors…..
I have the same problem with the cruise control (2023) , which is terrible. So it appears Nissan never fixed that flaw. I never rev my motor past 3500rpm...but the cruise control tries to go beyond 5000rpm whenever it gets a chance.
Is better than going to the dealership for an engine light or airbag light issues and find out that you might end up going back again with other brand vehicles, but Nissan will always come up with a solution
You have nice yokohama tires and that 1nich spacer looks enough. It's simple yet nice and clean build. Id live with the safety kill engine when you dont start, its fine. This is my target truck in the near future. I would prolly get the long bed/box but it would be a maneuverability issue. 2nd thing on the list is the King cab! Since its just me and my wife. I like that it has plenty of buttons too! And this SV (I hope) doesn't have the start/stop tech which is annoying for me. What's really important here is that it's a NA V6 and regular tranny, I love it. I still keep my 07 Odyssey and it still performs, bad gas Mileage though.
If you study the user manual you'll find there is a way to disable the adaptive part of the cruise control and make it work like a regular cruise control.
2022 Frontier S 4WD King Cab the exhaust tings are a thing. I get them in a new vehicle but I bought mine used with 66K, I would've thought that would've worked itself out. Not a big deal but still a little weird. Also back up cam resolution is potato as mentioned. I mean I didn't have a factory one before but damn, this is like a late 90's 1st gen digital camera. Tiny complaint is that I've got blind spot monitoring mirrors but they're not electrically adjustable? Why would that package not include that? Also not heated seats on a base model? Gas mileage is my biggest thing - I knew what was getting into but damn this thing drinks gas like a divorcée guzzling happy hour martinis at an Applebee's.
Great review you might like the Nismo upgraded lightweight wheels & upgraded billstien shocks with reservoirs, they also have a nice leveling/lift kit & it's installed at dealership & doesn't affect warranty ps they also have an exhaust & bumpers
Thanks for that , and good choice with the new redesign 2025 Nissan frontier and I’m saving some money to upgrade my 2014 SL for the 2025 SL , I’ll give my old truck to my oldest son
Exhaust wrap usually used for headers might help once wrapped around your exhaust from engine to the doors id unroll the fabric soak it in soap & water then spray down with 2 coats of silicone first & & or exhaust paint
I have a 24 Pro4-Max. I used to have a standard trim 2018 Frontier (had a Titan for a few years). The 24 gets way better gas mileage than the 18. I get 22 mpg around town, contrast that with like 16-18 for the 2018. I was used to this because I had a couple of Xterra’s. I used to tell people if they wanted a Frontier “I hope you like the gas station.” With the smaller tank and mpg’s you were always filling up. The 2024 has been more reasonable for me. My dislikes are more package specific. If you have seat heaters good luck if you drop something under the seat. Also the upgraded sound system took away under seat storage in the rear. I also miss the powered rear window from my Titan. My only three complaints are the rear view mirror does not have enough adjustment range for me. The Frontier has amazing room on the passenger side. Some of that could have been shared with the driver. And lastly the auto shut off annoys me to no end.
Funny you mention the gas milage and small tank..... I just drove over 1000 miles with it, pulling a loaded down trailer and OMG i was stopping every 2 hours for gas..... stay tuned for that video!
120 % they already recalling some of them because the transmission problem , because the new Tacoma is only 4 cylinder truck a with a turbo crap and that’s what is causing issues with the transmission synchronization
also. if you push and hold the cruise power button for like 3secs it will revert to standard (non-intelligent) cruise control and changes the icon on the instrument cluster to reflect the change.
I have a 24 frontier SL 4x4. Dont have the cruise control issue. Gas mileage sucks. I get 22-23 mpg hiway. 16 in town. Remote start non issue, took me only once to learn it. The AEB is pretty raw. Had to shut off the rear sensors
Other cars have these problems too the remote start thing is a safety features that my Honda has. If you’re used to adaptive cruise control I can see how that’s an issue. The camera is fine idk why you need something so high definition and the gas mileage I don’t have that problem BUT I own a base model 2022 frontier RWD and the only issue I have so far is the radio connection to my phone. And I like the tings man it’s a TRUCK lol.
My 2023 has them. All they do is provide a place to bang your shin on when entering the truck. Oh, they also help to get your pant legs dirty from road crap.
I have the same truck and I definitely agree with you about the cruise control. It sucks! I still have my 2006 Nissan frontier truck which I bought brand new back in 2006. And I always use the cruise control in that truck. But I didn't know about the cruise control on my new truck. And now I don't like using it because how it works as you described.😞
Hello there. My 2022 SV was an amazing choice due to its functionality. It doesnt have leather seats, moonroof or 360 whose I use too in my previous vehicles but it does a job well. The only thing I dont get is - why the back window is not power ? And neither SV, SL or PRO4-X offers that feature. Everytime you would need some extra air yoi would have to stop, get out, open the rear door to open that window 😅. Maybe sounds funny but sometimes gets annoying if you start driving and forgot to open it
I have another car that does the same with the remote starter. Regarding the camera resolution, I only need to see the objects, I dont need to see the details. I am driving, not watching a 4k movie.
It's not the adaptive cruise doing that as mine did the same with the regular cruise on as well. That said there is a fix issued for it. Had it done and the issue is completely gone. If youre interested I can find the specific bulletin number for the fix.
I love my frontier, besides the gas, for the mpg i'm getting I wish I would of waited for the sierra at4 with the 6cyl diesel, or just a full size that gets the same mpg
My only real dislike is the high hoodline. Makes it hard to see in thight/ narrow spaces. I guess I'm just used to my 2012 Frontier with the sloping hood. I just have one question. Where did you find the console tray? My 2023 SV center bin is like a 55 gallon drum I lose my work keys in there all the time. Thanks in advance.
I agree about cruise control, however the adaptive saved my life when a car suddenly slowed down in front of me to avoid hitting a deer. Obviously I did not see the deer and the cruise control sensed the car in front of me and slowed me down. Agree, cameras are absolute shit. May upgrade if possible. I wonder what the 2025 is like. I know the 2025 has telescoping steering wheel. I think a couple of more iterations and this truck will be damn near perfect.
The remote start is theft prevention, it has to make sure someone without the key does not just jump in and take the truck, because if it normally on you can drive off with one. So, you need the key and then hit the ignition, I am guessing it checks for key fob in truck like regular start procedure, then go. The gas mileage is better if you actually run the truck on manual mode and by setting the shift all the way to 9th gear from the start. All shift points are better at that setting. I don't know why Nissan can't get it right also, especially when they do have a program in the transmission that does just fine. The normal drive programing appears to me as if it is stuck in two/haul mode with its shift points. The engine is toque and does not need to downshift so far down to get moving. Cruise control I just don't use because it is the worst thing you can do to gas mileage, so I am not familiar with it. I do agree with the backup camera resolution. I mean the Subaru models have a camera that is like 5x better. About the exhaust, I think it is dual pipe up to some point at the rear of the cab. So, you're going to get it as a passenger also. I think it is because of the drive train and 4x4. Anyway, cheers!
Maybe you're in a different elevation or something, but my mpg is great for being a truck. I've averaged 23 to 24 highway. Once i got 26. That is going 70 mph. City mpg depends on my foot on my travels and how far I'm going. Lot's of stop go, yea 15 to 18. If it's 40 mph zone and less stops. I see 20 to 22. I have to agree with the interior. i have the pro4x and the layout and comfort is great! It's the main thing besides reliability for why i got it. That adaptive cruise...i hate it on every vehicle i have driven with it. Terrible feeling all-round. I'd say that, and the camera are definitely down falls for the truck though. Worse camera out there. I heard they are updating it in 2025.
I've been averaging about 22mpg on my 24 pro 4x. Tonneau cover made no difference. I find the configuration of control buttons is chaotic, especially diff lock. But great truck.
I have to admit, your dislikes aren't a big deal at all. Gas mileage on a 300 hp 4x4 sounds decent. I would have been happier if they still made a king cab version with a 4 cylinder and a manual transmission, but my needs aren't very demanding.
Just bought the 2024 Pro 4X in early August, was gonna wait for the 2025, but didn't like the minimal updates like the too big 12" infotainment screen and telescoping steering wheel, power passenger seat, etc. Those weren't deal breakers for me, and the dealerships around me in southwest Ohio have some pretty good end of summer deals on the 24's to make room for the new inventory. Everyone's needs and wants in a truck are gonna be different, I wanted a truck to be reliable, versatile and great value, and I found that in the Frontier over the competition. Real happy so far with my decision, hope you still like yours, and the likes and dislikes you expressed are easily abated with the enjoyment we'll get out of this truck in the years to come. Great video, really enjoyed it. 2 thumbs up.
My big issue was with the cruise, Nissan has since fixed it, the other things I can deal with and I hope it's as reliable as everyone says their's is. Thanks for the comment!
I use my 22 frontier to tow my 2 boats for boat rental service. Both of them back and forth to the ramp 3-5 times a week. Truck pulls 5000 lbs no issue, daily drives great. Remote start feature bothers me too even tho it’s my fault I just always forget. Biggest thing that DIRVES ME MAD!! every time you go into reverse rear parking sensor comes on. You have to press the button EVERY time. Makes backing trailers all day annoying. I’ve gotten used to it but still don’t understand my tow haul mode doesn’t disable it automatically or why it can’t stay off once I turn it off
I would add one small dislike I have, the hoods don’t open high enough on these trucks. It always feels like you’re going to hit your head when you’re adding washer fluid, checking the oil, etc.
I didn't know about the fix at the time of making this video..... the update has since been installed to which the update kinda fixed the problem..... it's not as aggressive aaaaaaand I had to fight with the dealership to do the update because they swore that there wasn't an update. My guess is that they didn't want to work on it because I didn't buy it from them....... that doesn't look good for Nissan in general either!
I hate the rear wheel well spaces which leave areas of rust starting and mud sticking. I hate the door locks selection, unlike the Tacoma press once all 4 doors open press again and all 4 closed, very simple and can auto lock all 4 when leaving vehicle. The Frontier have to press door button twice to open all, very irritating and the menu options don't make sense. The most irritating if you tow a trailer is the rear sensor which automatically brakes when reversing. Every time you put gear in reverse have to press the "P" button to override the autobraking sensor. You can go through the menu to disable the rear auto braking sensor so you can reverse as many times as you like but the selection resets to on when ignition turned off. The minor irritation is start/stop as there is a half second delay before engine is started which I got used to but pressing the override button to deactivate every time car starts is annoying. Lastly not many companies make racks for Frontier so the selection sucks, and the 5 ft bed is too short to haul anything like 10 ft. lumber or ladders or pipes.
I concur with all your issues and raise you one more.... I just towed long distance with it and the whole time it thought I was getting rear-ended! So annoying! That video coming soon!
@@DoItYourselfDoItRight I heard it and knew exactly what you meant. Maybe after more miles it will go away! Your truck is really nice thanks for the video!
I have had several vehicles that pinged or tinged when cooling down. If tonneau covers really raised mpg, all manufacturers would sell trucks with covered beds. This mpg claim has been debunked several times. Did you not look at the camera before buying the truck. I will just be quiet regarding your attempts at humor. I do appreciate the effort to post.
I just bought (In June 2024) a 2022 Frontier SV 2wd Crew cab 5ft bed from Carmax (Lease return) Grey color with 10k miles on it. My old truck was a 2018 F150 XLT crew cab with 3.5L EB engine. The old truck had 24k miles when I bought it and I put 125K miles on it from 2019 thru June of 2024. The sad part is I paid more that $14k in maintenance and repairs, where as part of that was covered by extended warranty. But at 125k miles the tranny went south, then the Cam Phasers started rattling louder and louder. As a comparison, my wife's 2007 Xterra with 178k miles still had same engine and tranny before we just traded it for a new 2024 Rogue Platinum. Although I loved the extra room in the F150, I'm feeling good about my decision to get Nissan(s). I have a 125k extended warranty from CarMAx and already they're giving me two new tires since one had a nail in the sidewall. #lifeisgood
traded my 2019 Frontier for a 2024 Frontier SV 2WD Crew-Cab with Technology Package. It's a fantastic truck. Currently, you can buy one loaded for about $35k. What's the complaint about the camera resolution?? Bro, you are way too picky
I just purchased a 2022 Frontier S and have to agree the backup camera is ...adequate. My aftermarket camera for my Sonata was much higher resolution. Is the Frontier camera OK, sure but I agree with @DoItYorselfRight it's crappy resolution compared to what it could be.
Looking into buying one of these. Looks sweet. Other than the gas mileage, your dislikes aren't a big deal to me. I never use cruise control so that's good. LOL.. 😬I Like the steps and the 1" wheel spacers. Make me a deal I can't refuse and I'll take it.. 😉😬👍
The vehicle wants to detect the key fob on remote start so if you have someone get in your truck to steal it they can’t because no key fob had vehicle stolen that way smashed window jumped in on remote start and was gone
Yes but if the owner has the key fob there’s no reason you should have to press the start button again after getting in it. I’ve got one and it’s very annoying, every time I remote start I forget to press the start button and it shuts off.
I don't own a vehicle of my own. I share a vehicle with a family member, which is a blessing, or can be an inconvenience if our schedules conflict. I would love to own your truck with your 5 or future dislikes. I completely understand they are bothersome to you, however for me, I would deal with it and be grateful of owning a durable, reliable, affordable truck. Perhaps, you should follow through and trade your frontier in for a truck that meets your standards. The car market is about to crash or crashed. So much inventory on dealership lots, inventory increasing immensely, and unsold for days on end. Certainly, trading in your Frontier for a truck/SUV that meets your standards can be had...dealerships are so desperate to sell. My 2 cents.
It's more than decent looking. That front looks absolutely badass! Best looking truck in the market right now, IMHO.
Will be my next upgrade vehicle a 2025 Nissan Frontier SL …😂
@@travispowell2471amen to that, same here
Have a 2014 SL ; all I need is there on my white truck, heater seats on winter , sunroof for my long rides ; electric seats ; backup camera; and 6 ft bed to get anything on it …
Turbo charging doesn't save anyone money...any potential fuel cost saving is lost in increased manufacturing cost and complexity as well as shortened service life of the engine.
I had a Honda that did that same thing with remote start... I think they all do that and require an ignition press for a key check.
I dislike the low res camera, but its not a big deal... but none of the others are a concern to me. Frontiers are good trucks. I have no want for a 4 door though... King Cab and a 6 foot bed is where its at 🙂
Very good
There is a software update for the cruise control. just had it done to my 23 SV. it makes all the difference in the world. refer to technical service bulletin NTB24-005. must have a build date before june 2023 but if it qualifies (and yours probably does because i believe after june 23 they came corrected). takes 30 mins at the dealer for the update and it will completely cure the cruise problem and i swear the transmission just feels better all around.
Is just the guy who post it , never had a chance to stop by the dealership to get upgraded
Don't use adaptive cruise ! Just hold cruise button another second when turning on & you have traditional cruise
Nice shirt! 🇺🇲
Edit: The shut-off is probably a security feature.
There is an update that fixes the cruise control. Contact your local Nissan dealer
Who to call ?
Under warranty? FREE?
There is a Nissan technical safety bulletin about that issue with the cruise control. Simple software update that takes about 40 mins. Take your truck to Nissan and they can fix it. My truck has been wildly different since doing the update. Truck doesn't drop to 5000+ RPM and race to catch back up.
Me and my girl really leaning towards frontier as next vehicle. I'm really liking what I'm seeing on RUclips with this vehicle
It's a nice truck for the money!
The 2025 has a new design and few more features updated; have a 2014 SL all I do for maintenance is oil change , brakes , tire rotation and up to go , never an engine light , air bag light issues …
@@DoItYourselfDoItRightexcellent choice and way cheaper than a competitors

GF 1.0 has no input. She's not paying for it.
I must say, that's a great looking front end. Much better than the 2025 Frontier. I could live with those cons. The pros are great.
As for the remote start feature turning the car off if you don’t press the button, is for safety. It prevents your car being stolen. If you press the button and the key is not inside the car, it’ll turn off again also.
I recently read that one of the improvements in 2025 was better resolution cameras - so perhaps Nissan listened to your complaint.
Yes they do…and they always stand behind the brand
I almost purchased one, nice truck, every Nissan dealer I talked to was shady AF. Not one dealer would honor their advertised price, always bs add ons.
I was worried about this thinking buying from carmax to avoid nissan dealerships
Dude....Simmons Rockwell horseheads. I got a fully loaded P4X for $39,999.
I'd report them to Nissan USA, Inc.

I like my 2005, no cruise control , no infotanement system . 242,000 Miles
Same here , very low maintenance truck , no idiot lights on dashboard
Actually mpg in 4 cylinders turbo middle size tracks( tachoma, gmc , ranger just little bit better) lats say almost same. But benefits that's engine will last longer and more cheaper to fix I think overcome this.
Big problem is the titan is discounted up to 15000 in areas. So can get into a full size at or below price of frontier. And gad mileage on highway is comprable.
What areas are you seeing those discounts on Titans?
Is the fact they will discontinue it a concern? Parts and service etc in the future.
PA
When they discontinued the nissan NV small van 2 years ago they said they would support parts for 10 additional years
I have seen discounts of up to $11,000 on titans but even at that they are still about $10,000 more than a similarly equipped Frontier.
If you press and hold the Cruise control button it will turn off the additive feature. Then you will have normal cruise control.
I tried that already.... doesn't work on mine. It just turns the whole cruise off.

The adaptive cruise control there’s a technical service bulletin that fixes that I had it done on mine and it works beautifully now.

@@DoItYourselfDoItRight Yeah I'm going to do my best to enjoy it while it lasts. Gm's vehicles don't seem built to last anymore.

You can turn off the adaptive cruise control to make it just normal cruise control. But, you have to do it every time you start the truck.
Nissan introduced a software fix for the cruise control. Go to your dealer and ask for the fix!
The cruise control says, drive it like you stole it. lol

You are correct, no start stop tech on mine. That too would drive me nuts!

Lol the remote start part is annoying… but let’s not be too picky… You know damn well this truck will outlast the new Tacoma 100%

The tinging is just odd..... I've never heard it on any of my other vehicles besides my motorcycles! Thanks for the comment!
Do you even use the boards to get in or is it just for look? It seems they are just in the way and you have to step over them.

Maybe sounds funny but sometimes gets annoying if you start driving and forgot to open it
I totally agree! To this day I still have not opened that video for that exact reason.
I have another car that does the same with the remote starter. Regarding the camera resolution, I only need to see the objects, I dont need to see the details. I am driving, not watching a 4k movie.
Yeah, i'd say there are a few annoying things, I would still buy one. Nice Frontier!!
It's not the adaptive cruise doing that as mine did the same with the regular cruise on as well.
That said there is a fix issued for it. Had it done and the issue is completely gone. If youre interested I can find the specific bulletin number for the fix.

There is an update to the cruise control. I got mine fixed.
Nice review ….. Do you have the link to the 1-inch spacers or the brand
The Toyota remote start (at least my 2018 highlander) shuts off the vehicle as soon as you open the door.
I get 20.6 around town (no highway) on my 24 frontier ..no cover
My 2022 Pro 4X is getting 25.5 mpg on the highway. I have 31k mile on it.
I have to admit, your dislikes aren't a big deal at all. Gas mileage on a 300 hp 4x4 sounds decent. I would have been happier if they still made a king cab version with a 4 cylinder and a manual transmission, but my needs aren't very demanding.
Check with Nissan about the cruse control issue. I believe their is a fix out for that issue.
Are you going to put a leveling kit?
I use my 22 frontier to tow my 2 boats for boat rental service. Both of them back and forth to the ramp 3-5 times a week. Truck pulls 5000 lbs no issue, daily drives great.
Remote start feature bothers me too even tho it’s my fault I just always forget.
Biggest thing that DIRVES ME MAD!! every time you go into reverse rear parking sensor comes on. You have to press the button EVERY time. Makes backing trailers all day annoying. I’ve gotten used to it but still don’t understand my tow haul mode doesn’t disable it automatically or why it can’t stay off once I turn it off
Do the rough country fender flares, just installed them on mine
Could you send me a Pic? diydaveb@gmail.com
I would add one small dislike I have, the hoods don’t open high enough on these trucks. It always feels like you’re going to hit your head when you’re adding washer fluid, checking the oil, etc.
Huh, I didn't notice that but I'll be sure to check next time I open it up.
@@DoItYourselfDoItRight I think you’ll agree.
Not sure I understand the complaining about the cruise control when there's a fix for it at your Nissan dealer?
For the camera, put some rain x on the lens. World of difference.
@@cwert99 I'll try that! I did the windshield already!

The cruise, wow . With a slight incline it will go into passing gear. Not good for the motor or the mileage and it's annoying.
I get better mileage without the cruise.
I would describe it as violent compared to other cars that have adaptive cruise!
The turning radius and the power seats moving on their own because there's no protection over the buttons annoys me with my Frontier.
It did take a bit to get used to the turning radius.
I have noticed the tinging but isn't loud and doesn't bother me.
I had a gmc canyon 2010 that would ping the exhaust like that too drove me crazy, I hope my next frontier exhaust doesn’t ping like that too

ALL NISSAN Trucks ting when cooling. Between Dad and I have owned Nissan trucks since 1986 to 2023 and all have that ting while cooling..
#lifeisgood
Awesome! Enjoy!
I have a 23 sv, coldest ac I ever had in a vehicle.
traded my 2019 Frontier for a 2024 Frontier SV 2WD Crew-Cab with Technology Package. It's a fantastic truck. Currently, you can buy one loaded for about $35k. What's the complaint about the camera resolution?? Bro, you are way too picky
My complaint is that the 2014 GMC Acadia had a better camera...... 2014!!!!
My 2 cents.
Do you like the Iron Bison nerf bars so far? I like the look and they don't hang low like the OEMs.
