  • Having driven the new 2024 Mustang GT and owning my personal 2019 Mustang GT for almost 5 years, we discuss the pros and cons of getting the new S650 Mustang.
    2024 Mustang GT is all new generation known as the S650 Mustang. While it is a new generation, in most it feels like a refresh to the S550 Mustang like the one I have. Is it worth upgrading the S550 Mustang to S650 Mustang?

    I should have pulled the trigger on the S550 when i had the chance. Test driving the 2024 this coming weekend, but the dealer by me has a 2021 GT available that i like, but the interior is bare bones. If they drop the price on it, i may get that instead and look into upgrading the head unit on the radio and figuring out how to control the sound for the exhaust. I love it, but my neighbors will probably kill me starting it up 6:00am!

      Yeah active exhaust is a blessing! I’d definitely try to opt for it. I’d personally go for s550 used maybe find a premium so interior isn’t bare bones

    Ford raised prices for 2025. Making them even more expensive.

      Yup exactly! 2025 and 2024 are same cars but price increase can’t be justified

    I feel you I love my S550 Mustang GT and I think you for that great info because I thought about buying one and just hearing you explain how there different makes sense. Thanks

      Yeah I think most people who have s550 aren’t looking to upgrade due to not many changes between generations

    you have a huge advantage by owning an s550 for the last 4+ years and then directly comparing it to the new s650. you have real seat time in both to give a valid assessment.

    • @Red5oh
      @Red5oh  Месяц назад

      Yeah pricing aside. It’s a great buy if you don’t own a Mustang or have a s197 but post refresh s550 it doesn’t make much sense

    You know what they say about the first year after a makeover. There will be bugs so hold out for the next upgrade maybe 2026 to see if they fix bugs n give the Stang any other options or freebies to convince us to buy. Maybe adding extra HP off stock. I put 5k miles a month on the average as my daily commuter so I might not see the 2026 specs. I'll probably buy used off lease again or jump ship to another brand with that high pricing. Then add 100k miles and hoping to get back into Stang territory with future unknown Stang development. No ev unless the government forces me to.

      Yeah that’s a lot of miles where buying new makes sense for you. If you don’t need it asap I’d wait until the refresh is out. Hopefully the increased price he justified

    Love my 650 even though all the disadvantages. My infotainment failed and no fix till October is my only complaint. Doing a Whipple soon so at least ill be able to get a little thrill out of it soon enough.

      What failed on the sync 4? That’s no fun since screen controls everything. Whipple would be badass!

      @Red5oh was backing up after a warm up and the whole display shut off...took it for service they updated something and it was working. Drove and got gas a mile down the road and it went off again when I started it. Got an appointment to take it back on the 12th. Hope they can get it straightened out. I got a letter back when I picked it up the service code is SSM 52574

    How reliable will a used mustang be? Knowing how people drive these cars, is it worth it or am I gonna have to get an extended warrant? 😂

    • @Red5oh
      @Red5oh  Месяц назад +2

      Surprisingly they aren’t that bad! Mustang has been proven to be extremely reliable. Most builds with boost are holding up fine too which speaks volume to engine and transmission reliability at 700+ rwhp

      I bought a 1999 Mustang GT in 2015. It had 100k miles and ran ok but it had a battery drain so I traded it in for 2014 Mustang GT in 2016 that had 8k miles. I still have had it and no issues except for a water pump replacement. I probably could have had the 1999 Mustang GT repaired but I wanted something newer.

    • @liarliar1408

      You look at the car fax report if it is free n you will see if lease. They are allowed 10k miles per year. My 2020 was a lease n must be a chick driving it because she only did 5k a year. Bought at 15k used a few months back for a good deal. The car fax also shows the sticker pricing so you can see what option added by the original ordering person. Only thing bad was the tires on bad alignment on stock wheels. Womp whomp sound. Replaced 4 tires n solved the problem. Looks like before returning from lease, one last hoorah in an empty Walmart parking lot doing donuts or something. So yeah, I'll go with off lease to keep the mileage low n strike a deal.

    Im getting a used s550 pp1 premium package this month and it will be way cheaper to buy than the new base s650 and if i want to make it faster than s650 i can have spare money to tune with with steeda

    • @Red5oh
      @Red5oh  Месяц назад +1

      Yeah used s550 is the sweet spot compared to s650. Mine is kind tuned and I beat the s650 with pp1. I have a video on my channel if you want to check it out

    I found and removed a tracking device in my S650 plugged into my obd port. It was using a discrete pass thru plug. It was not a Ford part but it was avail on amazon. If you have one of these cars, you might want to take a peek under the dash to see if you have one too. Otherwise folks may be able to tell if your at the track or in Mexico.

      It may have been a rental or used a demo car//service loaner is my guess. If the dealer put it then that’s some shady practice!

    Prices are way too high for the new cars.
    I’m battling with either upgrading my 2017 Camaro to a Camaro SS 1LE or trading in our 2016 Mustang V6 for an S550/S650 GT PP.
    I got a few years to wait tho. 2027-2028 🫡

    • @Red5oh
      @Red5oh  Месяц назад +1

      Yeah 2027/28 will be a good time. Hopefully a good refresh worth the price hike or you can pick up 2024/2025 in used market for much cheaper
