RC Review at $369 for the Assembly kit now, is it still priced to high for the 5 channel and Locking diff compared to the sport? I have a sport but want to build one so I’m debating which of the two kits to get. I’ve got a Reefs triple 5, hobby wing axe 550 system all on order to come in mid may but can’t decide on which kit it’ll go in.
I’d have to say the 5 channel kit for the win! If the bronco is great then the kit is best for the builder. Yeah the finders are a pain to fit bodies for but you got a builder right? Not too hard to cut them back to fit, it’s a hobby. The realism of locking diffs make it drive more under your command. Love to trail run until I get into trouble then lock the diffs as needed, most of the time locking the front is all that’s needed. If I was to go all out on a crawler I’d put a locking diff in the rear and spool the front, soo many times I need the front pulling to get in the best spot or just a bit better turning where a locked rear just pushes. Any Trx4 is awesome for the trail, scale or not soo serious crawling. They are simply amazing!!
TRX4 CHASSIS KIT is the best way to learn about RC basic, especially rock crwaler mechanism. For example, portal axle, diff lock, and 2 speed transmission. I have always curious about the system, and I became a master of system as I have built every thing from scratch. Traxxas really thought through all the process, and I was so amazed about the kit. It was absolutely the right choice for the very first rc crwaler to begin with! Man, it is just so addicting, and so much fun, and so much learning experiences! Oh and thanks for the great Review Francis!
I'm new to any rc vehicles. Also old enough that I worked on my own full size cars, so I bought the TRX-4 kit. You can do the work without crawling around on the ground. I also found a HUGE number of add on accessories to play with
watched, studied & finally bought myself a trx4 sport, mostly based on your reviews.. keep up the good work, guys.. honest, direct reviews from you guys keeps the hobby going 👍👍👍
If you consider covering 7 vehicles all with different details and setups? I’d say it wasn’t to long at all? It will be pretty helpful for anyone who is in the market for a TRX4.
Actually I know a guy who is close with the V.P. of Traxxas. He Put in a call for me about the Mercedes G 500 and he said it is coming this summer and it's held up by a license issue. Plus you can still order it from RC Mart and they will be shipping them to the US. Great Vid as always Thanks!
I’ve pretty much killed the body on my Land Rover just ordered a new one and a ton of scale accessory’s time to take the Land Rover to scale realism town
I just got my first TRX 4 yesterday.i got the 79' bronco. Here in the UK it's a bit more money.£525 .but everything is more expensive here.not used it yet waiting for battery connector.cant wait to get it.before I had an FTX Fury and I must say that its pretty impressive for a budget crawler under £200 .but even though I've not used the bronco yet.ive fallen hard for it.and it was your bronco vid that helped me decide to buy it👍👍
I have the assembly kit version with a Jeep body and I'm very pleased with it, however…. the sport kit does most things better and it costs a lot less! There is no "bad" TRX4, they're all good in their own way.
Hi, I am also looking for a new kit (SCX10 2 or TRX-4) for a new Jeep body. Can you please confirm what wheelbase the TRX-4 assembly kit comes with? Is it 12.8'' or 12.3'' ?
I really enjoyed your breakdown of the TRX-4 series. I purchased the TRX-4 Tactical & added the clear/painted Defender Body. Then purchased the TRX-4 Assembly Kit & then added the Bronco Body, next will be the Sport Kit.
I've recently put together a TRX4 Sport kit. Certainly a step up in performance compared to my old FTX Mauler. I'm using a Hobbywing 1080 ESC, with a 35kg servo, and the stock 21T 550 Traxxas Titan motor in the TRX4 Sport. Amazon alloy beadlocks, with the stock wheels, although with hair buns in the tyres rather than foams.
Great review! Was so confused as to how many TRX-4’s were out there. Glad I found your channel, you explained everything perfectly! Me climbing on board & subscribing to your channel was a no-brainer! Thank you!🙏🏻
I'm a novice. Bought both a Rustler 4x4 VXL and aTRX4 Sport in the last month. The TRX4; 'Red' is akin to therapy, The Rustler; 'Mr. Giggles' gives catharsis. Both seem to be so cleverly engineered they 'addict' the user as well as perform for them.
First was a Tactical not intending to keep the body, changed wheelbase and currently has an early Bronco body, the wife has the Bronco version and changed the body to a Jeep. Waiting for the sport kit which has been on back order for more than 2 months now.
I was able to pick up the Blazer for $475. Looking forward to giving it a shot. I messed with a buddies SCX24 and got hooked so I grabbed the 1967 C10 as well. Thanks for the great content!!
I'd just like to tell you I love your presentation style. On price I think that's a bit more arbitrary when upgrades are factored in. I'd say don't exceed 1000.00 yet expect to pay around 600.00 to 700.00 when chargers + batteries + light kits are also factored in. The 800.00 price point could be bumper upgrades + shocks + tires.
Imma Ford guy so I bought the bronco. And I love it. It's my favorite truck so far. Now I'm because they made the bronco, and the blazer. I'm waiting for the ramcharger body version to come out to get my wife.
Here in Australia, I have the TRX-4 Bronco.. I'm really happy with my choice. Though I did buy a spare body for regular use, the factory body is too nice to trash.
I actually just picked up the trx4 assembly kit because I love to assemble kits and I picked up the bronco body I like it best. Wanted the two speed just for fun trail running.
Returning to the world of RC older, and with kids. After watching this, and many other of these video's, I decided on the TRX4 Defender. I know it is the "wrong" wheelbase, has the lid mounted fender wells, and is too top heavy.....but ultimately, it was the one I wanted to see driving around in comparison to the other shells. I also felt the TRX4 with the two speed tranny would be the best option (both brand and model) to bring my kids into it. If this goes anywhere I am sure I will quickly jump into a kit from somewhere and invest in a competition grade rig. Thanks for your multiple videos that really let me dig into kit differences (again, both vendor and specific variant).
I'm a Brit so I went for the Defender in a sand colour. Only knew crawlers existed 6 weeks ago!!! Coincided with my birthday so now I own one. Looking for realism over ability but the latter is welcome. At the adding hinges, door handles, Camel decals, cargo nets etc stage at present. Will get round to lights and "performance" upgrades. I do have the ESS dual+ sound system that is great and hides the whirr of the motor (realism). Loving it all. Love your channel. By the way bought a slider kit and I cant work out what to do with the big rectangular piece that has the Velcro strap, any ideas welcome. Keep 'em coming. Thanks
I bought the Defender first, then I wanted the experience of building it so I went for the chassis assembly kit. I wanted the transmission and differential lock options.
Enjoy all your videos, have learned alot. Own 2 Summits, Bronco TRX4, Mercedes Benz 6x6, and just bought a Traxx. Thanks for the helpful tips!! Keep them coming,..maybe review a Traxx?
This really helped a lot deciding, thank you! I only have micro SCX24 so far, so planning on getting TRX-4. Based on your video I will go Sports KIT because I want nice crawling performance but also want to get my first KIT ever. Now the logical next step would be some nice video about choosing the right electronics which I know nothing of so far, having just few RTRs myself and being in a hobby for just a short while. Anyone could possibly point me in the right direction? Thank you for your time!
I recently put together a TRX4 Sport kit. I used stock 21T 550 Traxxas Titan Motor. Hobbywing 1080ESC, a 35kg servo (which can run at 7.4V), and a Flysky GT5 Transmitter & Reciever. Main reason I chose the Flysky GT5 transmitter, is it has a "memory" function, so settings can be stored for different rigs. Just need a spare receiver for each rc truck.
I'm more into scale & have the Bronco with an interior, driver & dog (gotta have a dog!). Ran it in Moab with our 1:1 Jeeps & had a blast. No issues with all the extra features.
I bought the trx4 Blazer red and black body. it looks sharp as hell and I bought it for the body. I almost bought the Bronco but for me the Blazer looks better.
I bought my first traxxas yesterday and i went with the Tex sport. I have been use to axial scx honcho and the wraith I’m hoping i like the Trx sport and looking to see what’s out there for upgrades
What you care the most is wheelbase.. So for crawlers there are only 2 types of TRX4 with lots of different "features". Also the full TRX4 has a 4 channel radio, the 3rd channel is a 2 position switch and the 4th channel is a 3 position switch for the locking diffs, That is why those channels have no endpoint adjustment it is made to work with the stock setup only. The Sport has a 2 channel only radio. TQi 4 channel radio product webpage: traxxas.com/products/parts/6530 Also the chronological release order is: Defender (12.8'') > Tactical (12.8'') > Full Unassembled Kit (First model with 12.3" wheelbase and Full wheel wells) > Bronco (12.3'') > Sport (12.3'') > Sport Kit (12.3'', Lacks electronics) > Blazer (12.3'') > Upcoming G-Wagon (12.3''). There are now almost 8 variants of TRX4 on sale today but the important thing is that they come in: 2x Wheelbases and 2x Kinds of Setups.
4 channel radio but 5 channel receiver. They use one of the radio channels to control 2 different servos on the receiver, front and rear differentials.
@@RCReviewChannel I understand that the Receiver is 5 channel but the RADIO as is TRANSMITTER is only 4 channels… The 4th channel mixes the 4th and 5th channel on the receiver.
How would you compare the new Bronco to all these? From another of your videos, I understood although it's the same already-milked chassis, but with significant upgrades.
I brought the Sport RTR Would have brought kit version but I didn’t know What motor or ESc and radio to buy so I took your advice and went with 2nd place sports That was a year ago now. Not one bit of trouble with her so I’m going to buy the Bronco this summer when we get released from lock down Thanks for your advice over the years take care Of your self and family Ps I’m not keen on the Traxxas 6x6 as the tracks I use are for 1/10th the 6x6 is just to big From Frank in Grt Britain 🇬🇧
I got a Chassis Kit for $369 and it comes with a 4 channel radio, all electronics, locking diffs, and two-speed transmission. Where's that one fall, because I can still exchange it for something else?
How do you obtain 9 or 10 trx4. Really enjoy your videos. I'm late to the party. This week got my first crawler scx10 2 ford f100. You inspire me. Thank you. You are the best on you tube.
I maybe a bit crazy as I watched this video, then when strait out and purchased the Premium TRX-4 kit, plus the pre-painted Bronco body. Yes I know I paid extra to build it myself, but thats 50% of the fun of RC for me, and it was only £2 more here in the UK to do it that way, and I wanted the remote locking diffs as that was one of the key TRX-4 features for me as I am more interested in trail use with a little crawling while out on the trail rather than technical crawler stuff. But who knows maybe that will change after I have had some time to get use to what the TRX-4 offers, as I have always gone with Tamiya kits in the past, and even owned a second hand Tamiya Bruiser back in the mid 90's which was probably one of the first RC crawlers.
Hey, nice to find someone who did that! I like the new Bronco, but I also like to build the models myself. Are there any significant differences between the chassis of both the new Bronco and the TRX-4 kit? TIA
I am currently using the traxxas summit for my rock crawling and my faster trail driving. And then when I just wanna have crazy fun I use my 1/16 scale E Revo.
Great video as always👍 but G500 is missing, i would not say trx-4 sport is 2 channel, it does not have any electronics, so it depends on what you put in it. 🤓
G500 not in the US. TRX4 Sport is 2-channel because it does not have locking diffs and 2-speed tranny. So only steering and speed can be controlled on the vehicle.
Good review and explanation of the different TRX4 models and I agree with most of your assessments. I currently have the original Defender and a Bronco, and find the Bronco to be a great crawler, and while my Grandson has the Sport I enjoy having 2 speed trans and diff options. Where our opinions differ is that I think the Tactical is a great buy - I just picked one up for $360 which I plan to put the track set on (which require low gearing). Ugly body, but actually cheaper than the kit by the time you’re done. Anyway, good review.
The best thing to do to a TRX-4 is to make it a 4 link on the front axle. Its also cheap, and you can extend the wheel base to what ever you wish because all links fit it.
I agree RCKN-RNDL. I like to use the Defender body when I'm trail running or just showing off so to speak and then when I'm ready to do some serious crawling I thrown on the Proline Raptor body to reduce weight and away she goes.
So the AMG 500 version seems the latest here in Europe, and I was not aware of the Chevy Blazer. However, loving my TRX4 Landrover (except of the TRX servo´s)
Hello I am from Quebec in Canada and I love your video even if I am not very good in English wow you did a great job. you have given me the taste to resume a crawler. But I'm hesitant between the redcat gen 8 and the trx4 sport and the trx4 blazer. If I choose your video the sport would be the best but in another the redcat is a winner. For the blazer the price seems to be disuasive or I'm wrong (because in my eyes it is the most beautiful with the redcat)? and for the different transmisions of the trx4 esce really handicapping having the two speeds and differential unlocking for reliability and performance? and on the other hand do not have the assets are boring? sorry for my free questions to you to answer me and I continue to follow your video thank you for your work.
The TRX 4 Sport is a better value and it climbs better. The Blazer is the best looking and the most fun if you can afford the price. The Gen8 is a good project vehicle but it is not very reliable. So the TRX 4 Sport or the Blazer is our recommendation.
Great info. really enjoy your videos. so informative and helpful, ty, keep 'em coming. I've got the Defender and really enjoy it when i get the chance to take it out, like you said, Here comes summer 👍
I've just finished a builders kit but am reluctant to shell out on a bronco body (which seems to be the only one that fits the stock wheel well/fenders). What decent options are available that mean I don't have to cut the well/fenders or buy new shock towers? Really appreciate any help/advice. 👍
Read the comments friemds.trx4 sport kit will far exceed anything Axial or otherwise, with your preferences. This can be overwhelming initially, but very difficult to screw it up. Much needed better servo/esc as rtr stock will frustrate you. Build it for less with what you like. A skyfly radio is $75. A very capable $25 35kg amzon servo and a $43 HW 1080 esc, you will be on your way to crawling rocks, hills, not just trails alone. Have fun friends. Francis knows, cept for his penchant toward particular trucks.

That was exactly why I bought the assembly kit so I knew the ins and outs of the rig
I have had the Tactical for 2 years. I just bought my wife the Sport and I have to say I’m completely jealous of its simplicity.
I bought the Sport, and was so happy I bought a 2nd Sport. One for Trails....one for Crawling. So happy with the TRX4, and I have 5 Axial’s!

I recently bought the trx4 Mercedes which isn't in this video. At the price with lights I think it's the best value if you want a 5-channel
How are you enjoying it? Do you think it's as capable as the others? Tires changes are available in terms of the fit to the body/chassis?

My dad bought the TRX4 chassis kit for my sun. Granddad en grandson are building together...
Great video. Thanks. For all your efforts.
I brought the Sport RTR
Would have brought kit version but I didn’t know
What motor or ESc and radio to buy so I took your advice and went with 2nd place sports
That was a year ago now. Not one bit of trouble with her so I’m going to buy the Bronco this summer when we get released from lock down
Thanks for your advice over the years take care
Of your self and family
Ps I’m not keen on the Traxxas 6x6 as the tracks I use are for 1/10th the 6x6 is just to big

Happy with the Bronco 😎
I got the sport rtr and love it
I got a Chassis Kit for $369 and it comes with a 4 channel radio, all electronics, locking diffs, and two-speed transmission.
TIA
It’s definitely a great rc truck, I have the Bronco but changed the body to the Xtra speed Mitsubishi Pajero hard body still handles beautifully.
Love my sport!! Next purchase will be the sport unassembled kit
Now we're talking
I am currently using the traxxas summit for my rock crawling and my faster trail driving. And then when I just wanna have crazy fun I use my 1/16 scale E Revo.
According to the video where would you put the G500 and G63 in the ranking ?
Random fact - Can watch your video an 1.25x speed without being noticable.
I think I'm gonna get a sport kit.
You should try watching it at 0.25x
Great video as always👍 but G500 is missing, i would not say trx-4 sport is 2 channel, it does not have any electronics, so it depends on what you put in it. 🤓
G500 not in the US. TRX4 Sport is 2-channel because it does not have locking diffs and 2-speed tranny. So only steering and speed can be controlled on the vehicle.
Ok, i did not know that, thanks man
I got the traxxas mercadies and all my friends have trx-4 and it gets around the best I think.
The mercedes G500 got around the best? (the TRX4 Mercedes?)
Clear as day! Thank you.
Hey man thanks for all the awesome content, one question, in your opinion which wheelbase is best or most versatile?
Thanks
Great review very informative as always keep up the great videos
We tried to organize the clutter
Why not the assembly Kit? Seems like it has all the options? I thought it would be the best, can you explain?
Danke , gut erklärt.
Considering to get the Bronco. Great info. Thanks! Is the Bronco body lighter than the defender?
I chose the Trx4 bronco, zero regrets.
You forgot the Mercedes Benz g wagon.
True. Not available in the US though.
What isn't available here the trx4 Mercedes why not I see it all the time online on the RUclips channels.
Will it be available soon here?
This is the mine 😉👍🏻

@@RCReviewChannel the 500g is available...though i did not think it was really all that different than the Bronco/Blazer....
Thank you. Appreciate your insight very much.
Nice video but can you show us the upgrade part that we can upgrade in trx and also how to connect the lights and stuff👍🏼👌🏻
I own the defender love it
The best thing to do to a TRX-4 is to make it a 4 link on the front axle. Its also cheap, and you can extend the wheel base to what ever you wish because all links fit it.
Always interesting. .thanks for sharing
thank you for listening
I like the Defender the best...for me there seems to be more ways to modify it to make it more functional.
Yes, it has more opportunity for personalization.
I agree RCKN-RNDL. I like to use the Defender body when I'm trail running or just showing off so to speak and then when I'm ready to do some serious crawling I thrown on the Proline Raptor body to reduce weight and away she goes.
I want to get the trx4 sport w Traxx but idk If I should love the 79 bronco
You forgot about the g500 Mercedes Benz
Not available in the US and not on their website. Looks like a Europ release only.
So the AMG 500 version seems the latest here in Europe, and I was not aware of the Chevy Blazer. However, loving my TRX4 Landrover (except of the TRX servo´s)
RC Review ouch! That sucks.
Jayden Brits yeah he did and I think there’s a trx-6
Nice video! Can you do this comparison for all the Vaterra Ascenders too?
My trx4 kit was 12.3 wheel base none sport one to
agree
RC Review wow big thanks for your answer:)
RC Review I listen to your advice and I just bought the Trx4 blazer thank you
Great info. really enjoy your videos. so informative and helpful, ty, keep 'em coming. I've got the Defender and really enjoy it when i get the chance to take it out, like you said, Here comes summer 👍
Thank you. We're trying to simplify all the models so we can figure out compatibility and fun factor
I've just finished a builders kit but am reluctant to shell out on a bronco body (which seems to be the only one that fits the stock wheel well/fenders). What decent options are available that mean I don't have to cut the well/fenders or buy new shock towers? Really appreciate any help/advice. 👍
Looking at the Sport Kit but once we destroy the stock body learning to crawl may change to the Proline FJ 40 land cruiser body
For sure, good choice. Take note though that the Sport body is indestructible. :_
RC Review - I’m hoping Proline makes a 2021 Bronco body
Great information I have the sport I like it have the gen8 to
Went with the Sport kit.. already changing things. I want the Bronco too..
great path!
Bronco and I love!!
Will the sport body fit on the Trx-4 assembly kit with correct body mount?
You have a great show just get your facts right
Read the comments friemds.trx4 sport kit will far exceed anything Axial or otherwise, with your preferences.
