This is a stunning quilt. If I decide to make this one I'm sure the IPad will be sitting on the table stopping and starting till till getting how to do it. I've never understood the the thumbs down on your tutorials. I don't make everyone of your quilts but I love watching them and always learn something. They are all beautiful. Thank you so much. You were the one that got me quilting to start with.
I usually am not into modern quilts, but this quilt pattern is STUNNING! I can just imagine the possibilities in colors and I can't wait to begin to see some made. Great job Rob and Jenny and thank you for the inspiration!
I just received my better burst block in the mail today I can't wait to try it! I might watch this tutorial another time to help me remember all the points!
Love the idea. Think I'll make mine with jewel tones, especially purples. This pattern leaves so much to the imagination. Thanks Rob and Jenny for the great tutorials.
Thank You Rob and Jenny, I love this quilt. You are both a great inspiration to me. My dream is to one day be able to travel to Hamilton and meet you both. Jenny you have been my mentor when it comes to quilting, and it is because of your tutorials and how wonderful you are at teaching that my love for quilting has grown by leaps and bounds !!! Thank you both for all that you do !!
Wow, I love this template! I've always loved this block but was rather intimidated with the measurements. This template is brilliant and you've made it look so easy. Thank you Rob and Jenny for sharing your creativity. I can't wait to make this!
I'm glad that I practiced on a couple of scrap pieces before I turn to my good fabric. Takes a little bit of practice in getting the template right. Can't wait to get started on good fabric
I know you hear this all of the time but, you two are great together.....I love that you're having fun, it makes us want to join in on the fun too. :-)
Love that quilt! It's so bright and cheerful! I can't wait to get the template and experiment with it. Thanks, you two are my favorite tutorial teachers on RUclips!
Just to be persnickety, the yellow triangles you initially cut are isoceles right triangles with 2 equal legs, one 90 degree angle and two 45 degree angles. An equilateral triangle has all three sides identical and all three angles are 60 degrees. I love the way the template works though! Ingenious!
Love the template and the neat blocks it makes! Let's help people with the geometry!!! If all three sides are different lengths they are called scalene triangles. 2 equal sides makes it isosceles, and all three equal sides makes it equilateral!
WOW! you two make an awesome team on the tutorials and he is so polite too when he would like to kindly interrupt you and other video's I watched you (Jenny) sometimes the other person over talks you or interrupts you! either way I find that rude. But awesome video here of U2
Wow, that's amazing and beautiful! I didn't take geometry in high school so I'm going to have to watch this a few times. I wish the camera had done a "close up" shot each time he or she lined the ruler up to cut.... It was a bit confusing to me. But I want to make this. I also would have liked some tips on how to choose the colors...help with the proper SHADES to get the same effect, I think. If any experts who read this want to advise me, please feel free to reply to my comment. I would also like to know where to get the ruler and what it's called. I doubt where I live any Q shop or major craft/sewing store is going to have it. I may have to order online. Thanks for sharing this intriguing block!!! L :)
Gostei muito! À primeira vista parece complicado, mas, logo se percebe a lógica dos blocos. Muito bonito. Se constrói uma espécie de optical-art. Obrigada Jenny e Rob.
Isosceles triangles have two sides of equal length. I used to have a cat named Isosceles because of the white triangle in the middle of his otherwise black face. Cool block and template!
Great pattern. I applaud everyone who helped create this template - that had to be a lot of work even for the math geniuses. The video though felt rushed/hyper. For something with this many steps, a little slower would have been better. I read another comment below and had a light bulb moment: MSQC at the Houston quilt festival !!! Duh - hadn't even thought of y'all being here. I haven't been in a few years but I'll definitely try to make it now.
I would love to have the template,so can you tell me where you bought yours please.Shirley Mills Email antrimdown08@hotmail.com I am in sydney,NSW Australia
Order up! I will be placing an order and would love teach a class or two with this template!! I'll miss seeing you this year Rob at Market! You were my "one" person I kept running into last year! Great success with all that you are working on! Things for me are really going to take off, so watch out!! Sure hope you consider MQX, New England April 2017!!!
0:20 "So Rob what is this back here".... (Rob reply) ".Well Jenny is called a Wall Quilt!" ( loli) You to make a great team and turn a serious tutorial into a comedy show - thanks very well done video. Took me ages to get the same fabric but now all ready to go.
So Jenny... Where is the Tie Quilt Pattern for this template? lol *I would SO make that! It's the only tie I can hope to see my husband in at this point!*
Love this block / quilt. See that the whole layer cakes was not used. How many of each of the solids and colored squares were used? I need a king size quilt and wondered how many of each I would need to buy?
There are 24 blocks in this quilt, so 24 squares of each layer cake were used for this one. You can certainly use more to make it bigger. If you got two more layer cakes you would have enough for a king size. :)
Very interesting block. Love when you and Rob join forces together. Rob, do you think we could get this template to work with 5 inch squares and better yet 2.5 inch squares?
Woot! Woot!! I see a trip to Houston in my future!!!! Yay. I am four hours from Houston, which is much closer than to Hamilton, though I plan to come to Hamilton too in 2017!
I find adding the outside pieces of this block difficult and think this tutorial, plus the instructions that come with the ruler, could be explained in a clearer way. Also, as asked a few days ago, what size should this block be? You say square it up using your favourite method but not to what size.
I dislike paper piecing in general. However, I look at this pattern and see it more accurately and more quickly done with foundation paper piecing than either of the solutions presented on Man Sewing using peltex or this MSQC "acrylic template".
I ordered the template and for the life of me I can't figure out the squaring cuts. I wish they did more explanation and time showing that part. I've gone thru it 3 times now with scrap fabric and doesn't square up.
And to help you remember - equilateral triangles do not have any right angles - they are all 60 degree angles because equilateral triangles are equiangular!
this might be a silly question but i need to make a king size for a surprise quilt for my husband but I am not sure how much to purchase. Would 2 packs of solids and 2 packs of prints be enough?
The beautiful colors of the quilt on the wall being way off point is very distracting for me with OCD, but I love the pattern. Before investing in the template and time I must know, is getting it on point actually possible and if so how difficult is it to get on point?
It is a little difficult to get it exactly on point, Marmalute. But this template does make it better than the original way. You just have to make sure your seam allowance is very consistent and that you use lots of pins when sewing your blocks together. :)
There is a free pdf for this tutorial Monique that you can view by clicking on this link below. Unfortunately we don't have a paper template available for this quilt, but you can find the template we used for it by also clicking on this link below. www.missouriquiltco.com/land/tutorials/burst-block-quilt/index.html?

Once you make a couple blocks you'll get the hang of it, Cynthia. Thanks so much for your kind words!
I usually am not into modern quilts, but this quilt pattern is STUNNING! I can just imagine the possibilities in colors and I can't wait to begin to see some made. Great job Rob and Jenny and thank you for the inspiration!
We're so glad to hear that, Laura. Thanks so much!
Can you buy the square from hobby lobby
I just received my better burst block in the mail today I can't wait to try it! I might watch this tutorial another time to help me remember all the points!
Love the idea. Think I'll make mine with jewel tones, especially purples. This pattern leaves so much to the imagination. Thanks Rob and Jenny for the great tutorials.
Making this quilt with jewel tones Joslyn N, would look gorgeous!
Thank You Rob and Jenny, I love this quilt. You are both a great inspiration to me. My dream is to one day be able to travel to Hamilton and meet you both. We hope you can make the trip and meat both Rob and Jenny one day as well! :)
This one looks like a lot of fun to put together! This would look cool with batiks. Thanks Rob and Jenny, I can't wait to try this out.
That will look great!
There was a lot of useful information in that video. Thank you for taking the time to teach us.
We're so glad you liked it, Kimberly!
Just love the templet! Thank you! And enjoy you two!
You both are sooooo much fun to watch and listen to! I need this template!
Isn't it great? It makes it so easy!
Wow, I love this template! I've always loved this block but was rather intimidated with the measurements. This template is brilliant and you've made it look so easy. Thank you Rob and Jenny for sharing your creativity. I can't wait to make this!
So glad you like it, Dona. Rob did such a great job of teaching how to use it. :)
I'm glad that I practiced on a couple of scrap pieces before I turn to my good fabric. Takes a little bit of practice in getting the template right. Can't wait to get started on good fabric
Keep up the great work Carmen! :)
Wow, love the template, just ordered mine! Love Rob and Jenny together.
We hope you have fun with it!
I kept watching the original, trying to figure out an easier way to make it. Thanks for doing that for me :)
Sheri, We're glad this tutorial helped! :)
Really enjoyed watching the two of you together. That template looks awesome! Thank you for the Tutorial.
I know you hear this all of the time but, you two are great together.....I love that you're having fun, it makes us want to join in on the fun too. :-)
Rob sure inspires a lot of creative freedom! You could even use those blocks for a wide and wild border, or do single rows of the blocks.
Love that quilt! It's so bright and cheerful! I can't wait to get the template and experiment with it. Thanks, you two are my favorite tutorial teachers on RUclips!
So many projects to be made with it!
It looks like a totem pole. So Rob! So cool!
Just to be persnickety, the yellow triangles you initially cut are isoceles right triangles with 2 equal legs, one 90 degree angle and two 45 degree angles. An equilateral triangle has all three sides identical and all three angles are 60 degrees. I love the way the template works though! Ingenious!
Thanks for the correction Rosemary! We're glad you like this fun quilt! :)
love love love this..you two are great teachers. Thank you
You guys are a great team! LOVE this quilt.

Exactly! I wanted to say that, too, but didn't want my Mensa Math Genius Genes to show. LOL!
You're so right, thanks for making that clear, Nancy. We are glad we had Rob's son there to correct us on that later in the tutorial. :)
Very nice looking blocks! Love this tutorial .
Another awesome quilt. Will have to get the template first, but then I'll be ready to go!
Sounds like you're right on track to make this quilt silktoes! Happy quilting!
I was just at MSQC yesterday, wish I had pick up that templet. Thank God for online ordering.
We hope you had a great visit!
Yes, I saw it last night on the web site! I will order one as soon as I can. Thanks for your response!
WOW! you two make an awesome team on the tutorials and he is so polite too when he would like to kindly interrupt you and other video's I watched you (Jenny) sometimes the other person over talks you or interrupts you! either way I find that rude. But awesome video here of U2
Sensational...looks so difficult, but you made it easy.
I have to buy that Template! I'll probably have a rough time at first, but hopefully I'll get the hang of it because I LOVE this quilt!
You'll get the hang of it after a couple blocks, Mary Ellen. :)

Very beautiful and different. Nice man quilt from cool Rob
Gostei muito! À primeira vista parece complicado, mas, logo se percebe a lógica dos blocos. Muito bonito. Se constrói uma espécie de optical-art. Obrigada Jenny e Rob.
We're so glad you enjoyed this tutorial Marilda! :)
Wonderful tutorial!! Gorgeous quilt!
wow, this is too cool, got to order the template soon....thanks again for another winning pattern.
We hope you give it a go! :)
Isosceles triangles have two sides of equal length. I used to have a cat named Isosceles because of the white triangle in the middle of his otherwise black face. Cool block and template!
He sounds like such a cute cat, Cathy!
Yes he was! I made him a black fur-lined box to hang out in, with a white fur triangle worked in of course! He lived in that box

We appreciate your honesty MizzRowe, and hope you visit our booth at the Houston show!
I love this block. Will definitely have to pick up that template!
Earendilgrey
What a unique pattern, it reminds me of African artwork. I can see it in blacks and whites.
That would be gorgeous, Joyce!
Are you all using a steam or a dry iron?
We generally prefer using a steam iron, but you could try this quilt with a dry iron as well Joyce!
Maybe its a top shot looking down on a multi-coloured Zebra? :)
Really smart template design. Thanks for all the markings on the template.
It's super handy. So glad you like it!
I just bought this template 3 days ago ! Whoop whoop !!
Yay! We hope you like it!
I would love to have the template,so can you tell me where you bought yours please.Shirley Mills Email antrimdown08@hotmail.com I am in sydney,NSW Australia
THAT WAS SO AWESOME WOW!!!
Loved the Info on the pattern...thanks for sharing😍
Amo muito o trabalho de vocês dois, obrigada pelo vídeo de vocês juntos, foi um presente.... beijos
Order up! I will be placing an order and would love teach a class or two with this template!! I'll miss seeing you this year Rob at Market! You were my "one" person I kept running into last year! So glad to hear you are doing well, Jolene! Love that you plan to teach a class on this!
Stunning work!
I love this block
This quilt has eyes looking at you!
I could see that now that you say it! :)
sooooo beautiful!!!
Gosto muito do trabalho de vocês!. Sou fã dos dois!. Gratidão sempre!.
Thank you so much Jailma! We really appreciate your great love and support!
I love you two together :) its quite masculine, which is great as there is not a lot out there for men. Thank you both! :) x
Thanks Caroline! we are so glad you enjoyed this tutorial!
this reminds me of the costumes in The Lion King musical
wow that is so awesome and so beautiful
0:20 "So Rob what is this back here".... (Rob reply) ".Well Jenny is called a Wall Quilt!" ( loli) You to make a great team and turn a serious tutorial into a comedy show - thanks very well done video. Took me ages to get the same fabric but now all ready to go.
Ooooooh! I like that.
So Jenny... Where is the Tie Quilt Pattern for this template? lol *I would SO make that! It's the only tie I can hope to see my husband in at this point!*
I love Rob!!
Emailing my local quilt shop now to order it. I'd pop in but it is the middle of the night.
I love that than you for sharing.
We'll have to play around with it an see what other blocks we can come up with it!
Math geek here: equilateral is 3 equal sides, isoceles is 2 equal sides, and scalene has zero equal sides
We goofed on that one didn't we! So glad we had Rob's son there to correct us! :)
Love the quilt. Unfortunately will not be able to get the template in Australia :(
You may be able to get it at a wholesaler near you, Sasslette. You can check for one here: shops.missouriquiltco.com/find-a-retailer/
Gamma has lost her mind... I actually waved "Bye-bye" to you guys. lol
Will you guys be in Houston next month?? im thinking I will grab this then!
We will be there, Terri. Hope to see you!
Woot! Woot!! I see a trip to Houston in my future!!!! Yay. I am four hours from Houston, which is much closer than to Hamilton, though I plan to come to Hamilton too in 2017!
No entiendo tu idioma pero me encantas me lo haces todo muy fácil muchas gracias por tus vídeos

Loved it!!! When can we buy the new template?
You can buy it now, Zulema. Here's a link to all the products for you. :) www.missouriquiltco.com/land/tutorials/burst-block-quilt/index.html?

very pretty

The yellow triangles are isosceles, Rob, not equilateral!
And to help you remember - equilateral triangles do not have any right angles - they are all 60 degree angles because equilateral triangles are equiangular!
Even more explicitly, the yellow triangles are right-angled isosceles triangles!

Am I correct in saying you can only make one size block with this wedge Templeton?
this might be a silly question but i need to make a king size for a surprise quilt for my husband but I am not sure how much to purchase. Would 2 packs of solids and 2 packs of prints be enough?
Did you ever figure out how much to get? I would love to make this a quilt and not a wall hanging quilt.
Nice block, but it might be a little hard for me with my dislecsia. I will have to add the template to my collection.
We hope you give this fun quilt a try sometime Brenda! :)
Can I buy this template in Europe somewhere? Sending from the USA is so expensive :(
You can see if a quilting store would carry them in Marianne!
The beautiful colors of the quilt on the wall being way off point is very distracting for me with OCD, but I love the pattern. Before investing in the template and time I must know, is getting it on point actually possible and if so how difficult is it to get on point?

I can't seem to find this template, please help! Is there a link I'm missing somewhere??
Duh! I found it 😁
what is that ruler you're using? I need a name. I tried looking at Joann Fabric but had no luck.
I want the template but can not get it here in the UK :(
We do ship to the UK. I know customs and shipping costs can be a hassle but if there's a will there's a way! :)
Whoa! At 7 minute mark, it skipped you cutting the other side. Do you flip the ruler?
Sorry about that, here's a great quick tip from Rob on using the template! ruclips.net/video/JhSp24_UJzI/видео.html
Is it podsible to make it without the specific rule???
Absolutely. Here's a link to Rob's original tutorial. :) ruclips.net/video/M3Tz9ZrFFug/видео.html
The yellow are not equilateral triangles (all three sides and angles are the same length). Only two of the sides are the same on the yellow blocks.
We got a little ahead of ourselves there didn't we? Thank goodness Rob's son was there to correct us! :)
nice
😍😍😍😍😚😚
Is there a paper template available with this tutorial?
There is a free pdf for this tutorial Monique that you can view by clicking on this link below. Unfortunately we don't have a paper template available for this quilt, but you can find the template we used for it by also clicking on this link below.

Thank you.
Happy to help! Please let us know if you have anymore questions or concerns!
There’s no pdf that I can find
What size is this block?

Unique quilt but forgedaboudit........
Sorry, just seems like a lot of work for what you get...
We appreciate your honest opinion Janet!
