I'm making this for my soon-to-be 3 yo granddaughter. I had four pairs of rhombus/triangle pairs left over so I made them into separate blocks. I will applique the four letters of her name on the top faces of the blocks and applique the blocks to the backing. Happy birthday Lucy.
wow wow wow, tumbling blocks have been a mystery to me, looked much to hard but you just broke the glass bubble....I'm ordering a Rhombus cube tonight....and some fabric of course. Thanks a million Super Jenny....
I've been searching for so long for a quilt idea for my son when he leaves home next year for college. He's math and science minded and loves red, gray, and black. I can't believe how PERFECT this quilt would be for him!! How incredibly clever this is. Thanks for another awesome tutorial!
I bought the Rhombus ruler when it was on the daily deal. Looked for the demo and was sad not to see it. I had the pattern in the BLOCK magazine I recieve....but I learn much better seeing it done.....Thank you soooo much for doing the demo........so many ways to put it together..........I have made my first as a toddler/baby quilt with solids for the sides but the I SPY fabric for the tops.......fun fun fun
I've made two of these quilts already and preparing to make my third! They are so easy to make and are a PERFECT masculine quilt! I made one for my son in his college mascots fabric and One in pretty blues and stars for my grandson. My nephew is under 50 and has had a stroke and in an assisted living facility and the rooms are so stark, no color no "Personality" so I'm making him one to hopefully add some nice color to brighten his room a bit! I LOVE the way Jenny explains and shows each detail to making her quilts! Thanks Jenny!!!
very nice. As usual it is well taught by a always cheerful mrs Doan. Thankyou. i love watching your shows. one for the way you explain and secondly your happy nature is contagious. God bless you.
I just finished this Rhombus Cube quilt top for my grandson. Using the Rhombus template and this tutorial made this easy. What amazes me is that the pattern looks completely different, depending on the angle from which you view it. Thanks so much for talking me through this quiltl, Jenny.
I bought the ruler to try this and LOVE it. It's been on my 'dream about' list forever! Thank you Jenny, I made a table topper and it turned out perfect.
Jenny, I always know that you would have an easier way to do something for when anybody else would make it so complicated! Thank you! You are my inspiration! Greetings from a nice and sunny South Africa!
My son has wanted me to make him a quilt like this in blues for about 4 yrs now. I got the fabric in this week and finally he will get a queen size version.
I have loved this pattern for over 40 years! I even started to make it once, but chickened out because of those awful "Y" seams! When I saw the rhombus template, I bought it right away just so I could make this much loved block. All I have to decide on now are the colors! Thank You so much for an EASY way to make this quilt!
Great to see an easy way of doing this quilt. I have always loved the tumbling block quilt but always done English paper piecing by hand. Template is a must have.👍🇦🇺
I bought this rhombus template to use to make my sons 3D quilt. It was super easy to use and the quilt came together amazingly. All my seems lined up perfectly! Thank you for all your tutorials, you've helped me learn so much!!
I feel like I am coming in late. But I have fallen in love with MSQ and the people who make it possible. The templets are a wonderful thing. I have way too many now but love them all. Thank you for teaching us that it is never too late to learn something new.
I too would like to see a baby size quilt using the rhombus template. I ordered when it was the Daily Deal and I couldn't remember why I got it. NOW I REMEMBER. By the way I loved the cruise. Now I just have to make my way to Hamilton like Suzette. Thanks again for making quilting so much fun.
I have made my first quilt in tumbling blocks with my grandma. it was precut kit and had trouble with it not cut correctly. Will be doing this as now I see you have a easy template to do it. It was in Rose color with dark , med and light. Background was bright green as I was thinking rose with green. I loved it and wanted to make another one and now watching you I have learned and improved my quilting skills since my grandma is not around anymore.
I am currently making this quilt and it is going together SO fast. I'm using the large template. Can't wait to sew the blocks together. Thanks for making it easy!
I am super excited for this tutorial. Thank you thank you. I recently ordered the template and was kind of bummed that there wasn't a pattern with it nor a tutorial. And here it is not even a week later and there you are Jenny making it so easy for all of us. Thank you so very much. BTW you never seem to age
I purchased this template when it was the daily deal. Thank you for this tutorial and making it so easy to use. This quilt is defiantly going on my list of upcoming projects.
I have always loved the cube quilt but was afraid to tackle it since I've only been quilting a couple of years. I think I can do this after watching this video. Thanks again Jenny.
This is a beautiful guide. Thank you very much for that. I‘ll start Right away next week and Tr a pillowcase first. Best regards from beautiful Black Forest in Germany
I love this quilt but would always stop watching with all the die cutting. Figured it was just too much. But this time I finished watching - oh my goodness. This is so cool the way it's sewn together. I'm buying fabric tonight! I love it!!!
Thank you. I've wanted to make one of these for a long time. Others have tried to take the Y out of it but , for me they made it more did difficult. This is just great. Ordered my rombus today. Will be making more than one. Love, love, love.
Gosh darn it Jenny! You've made my 'Gotta Quilt This List' even longer! Haha! LOVE ALL THAT YOU DO FOR US! You have made quilting so much fun! Hugs from SE Minnesota!
This is fantastic and I wish had seen this video first. I am making this quilt now, using a different pattern, and putting it together has been a nightmare. I am going to purchase the template ASAP. Thank you a million times.
I did three baby quilts with this one already wish I could share the two I have done this is so great that you took out the y seams love love love it can't wait til order gets here so I can keep going
I can't wait to get to the stage in patchworking to be able to attempt this quilt Jenny. I've bought the rhombus to spur me on. This is another great tutorial Jenny, thanks from the UK. Paul
I knew I should have purchased the Rombus ( it was a smaller template I think ) when it was MSQC's Daily Deal a few days ago ! Jenny & Girls you have done it again. This would be an awesome quilt to give a child or a grandchild going away to college ! Love your color selection too. It's just amazing how you "reel" me in each and every week.....You couldn't possibly know how LONG my list of " Jenny's" Tutorials To Make is, not to mention the other neat projects over the years that Jenny has shown as well....I am always thrilled when Friday (early am ) comes around ! Thanks again MSQC !
Looks like Q*bert video game from the 80's. I crocheted this pattern a couple of years ago for my mother for Christmas. I used light blue, medium blue, and dark blue. It turned out wonderful.
Loved this tutorial! I have always stayed away from Y seams (and curved seams...but that's another story!)....But I would suggest that you do the straight side cuts from the template first, then cut the little notches off of the corners AFTER the rhombus or triangle shape is cut away from the main strip of fabric. That way, you don't have to worry about cutting into the next shape :)
I bought your Rhombus ruler awhile ago, and just started using it. Love it. You should also have a small Rhombus Ruler, even a mini, for smaller projects. Just a thought.
Well, you've hooked me again! I ordered the template last week, so I am set to go shopping for just the right fabrics. Thanks for another wonderful educational video! I have made several quilts from your tutorials. Thank you for sharing your life and your skills with all quilters. Patty Crumrine
Thanks for sharing. I enjoyed watching your excitement with this. It's just so beautiful. Wish I used to get those materials down here. I'll have to order online & it's very costly for me. But I do love it. Keep on giving us these Awesome tips & Ideas
Love this pattern. I have a pattern for a "Tumbling Block" quilt which was meant to be an easier way of doing this quilt without the 'Y' seam, however your pattern is way easier and less fiddly. I'm definitely going to order this rhombus ruler. Thanks so much.
Love, love, love this! Can't wait to try it! I have 2 quick questions: #1 - how do you finish the border on the top and bottom since you have a triangle type space between each strip. #2 - what type of cutting mat do you have on your table? I love that it has all the little markings in different spots throughout the middle of the mat. I have a big white cutting mat similar to that but it does not have all the little marking throughout the middle like yours does. Thanks as always for helping us to create such wonderful quilts!!
+quiltmom2 you are going to attach the black triangle to the coral piece of the row and at the end once you have all of the rows put together, you will want to line your ruler up with the points that will be facing towards the right. Go 1/4" above the seam line and cut to make a straight line. Once you have that done you will add another 2-1/2" black piece of fabric to the top of that to make it a wider border. The mat that is being used is a Gracewood :) Hope this helps!
+Missouri Star Quilt Company thanks so much for your help with this! Thank you also for the name of the cutting mat - I was able to find one on line and order it!
I just love this woman! She makes everything seem so doable by breaking it down and simplifying steps. 🧡
I'm making this for my soon-to-be 3 yo granddaughter. I had four pairs of rhombus/triangle pairs left over so I made them into separate blocks. I will applique the four letters of her name on the top faces of the blocks and applique the blocks to the backing. Happy birthday Lucy.

Thank you so much Jenny you are so helpful and a awesome teacher

YAY!! That sounds like such an amazing quilt, Janet! Your grandson is sure to treasure it!
I bought the ruler to try this and LOVE it. It's been on my 'dream about' list forever! Thank you Jenny, I made a table topper and it turned out perfect.

+Mary Ellen Brennan those "Y" seams are not fun!! So glad that we were able to find an easy way to make this quilt :)
