It's a tradition vs modern showdown! Who will win? Are you team tradition or team modern? Tell me all about it! After watching the video, of course! Enjoy!
Hello sweetheart, I am livin in the Netherlands. I follow you now for a few months and I can tell you this. Iam 69 years old and quilt for 50 years already. Learn a lot from my grandmother, so i would say I am pretty wel known with the tradionel way of quilting. Most old quilters are not quilt outside the box and those quilters wil always say ÿou are doin this wrong" Keep on doin it girl. The old quilters can learn a lot from you exaly, because there are more ways to quilt. Do whats in your heart and try anything out what you want to make. You are wonderful in what you do.. You are a tresure to watch,I will go on to see your videos whit love Astrid Filon
Hello! No. There are tutorials on how to assemble the 3 blocks using the Y seam into the (one) unit. I have not found a tutorial on how to assemble multiple 3 block units into a quilt.
After watching many of your videos I am inspired to not be so stressed while striving for perfection. I need to throw caution to wind and enjoy the process. By the time I get my almost perfect quilt finished I hate it and never want to look at it again.
I think i like the newer, easier way. It looks good. I am a newer quilter, and I think I can master that one first. I really like how you share your experience and explain simply. It makes it so much easier than some others. Thanks again. ❤🎉🍀
I needed a small ironing pad in my sewing area. I took a piece of cardboard from a box 2 pieces of fabric and one piece of padding. sewed them together put the cardboard in and sewed that in and now I have a small ironing board for when I need it to sew my small squares together.
I love both the 3 d and 3 d hex I'm not crazy about Y seams but can do them. I will do the 3 d no Y I would like to see how you sew together multi blocks so I can make a quilt . Gerry
Hi, this just popped up for me. Very interesting. I don't think I would do the traditional way, I would be frustrated doing that "Y" seam. I did hunt down your other tutorial with the 3 strips. That looked easiest, if going with all the same colors, if I was doing a scrappy quikt, I'd go with the 60degree triangles version. Great viedos.
Hi, welcome! Thank you 😊 yeah the traditional version is a bit more labour intensive, but theny seams aren't that hard once you get the hang of it. Happy quilting!
I'd been hesitant about making a tumbling block because the y-seam at the top can be very fiddly & frustrating to piece in when assembling the top Then 3yrs or so, I'd seen a version using 2 triangles for the top diamond and totally easy. No turning direction at corner. Totally easy. Assembly is a breeze because you can get your half square strips ready to sew together. I like to pair up the 2 strips that make up the complete block and roll them up together starting at the bottom and ending at the top. Wrap roll with paper tape and use a pencil to mark😮 on tape the number of the vertical row the paired strips will be in your design. Works great to keep organized when you only have time for a "quicky sewing session" and the rolled strips are easy to reroll and store once both halves of the block are joined. The hardest part is the initial fabric color pairings.
Huumm, that's a good question. I think so. You would just have to be very careful with the angles and those.points where the fabrics meet to make them really perfect. But yeah, you can. In fact now I want to try it! Heheh
I prefer the triangle method. For some reason the Y seam method for me was not easy. Quilting is suppose to be fun not frustrating. Each quilter prefers a different style. They’re all correct. One is just easier than the other to each person.
No they aren’t right. Who says traditional is the only way of making a quilt. Nothing wrong with an easier way. I’ve made them traditionally and I thought the more modern version was way easier with the same end results. That’s all that matters.

Team Traditional here. I never even knew about the other way you showed. I’ve also made the tumbling blocks by sewing them in vertical rows. 😊
@@rainydaydiva6320 😁 doing it in rows is so much practical!! Saves up a lot of time.

Your blocks make quilting relaxing without worries. They look beautiful. There all wonders to explore!
Thank you so much 😀
I like the lets get it done method! You rock girl
Thank you so much 🥰
Love your lessons. Please show us how to join the 3 block units that were made with the y seam.
Hi. Do you mean show you as I stitch the 3 parts together.

Got it! I'm thinking of making other videos with this quilt block and I'll make sure to add that step to them, thank you for letting me know!

then my work here is done heheh. yeah, this is supposed to be fun and enjoyable not stressful or unpleasant!

I love the easy version. I'm going to have to make one now
Great! Let us know how it went 😁

Keep on bringing the quick and easy. I enjoy watching your creative ideas.
Thank you 😊

love that, thank you
Can you do a sew as you go with that pattern?
Huumm, that's a good question. I think so. You would just have to be very careful with the angles and those.points where the fabrics meet to make them really perfect. But yeah, you can. In fact now I want to try it! Heheh
Personally, I prefer the traditional one as you have less to cut and have only 3 seams to make 😊. Great tutorial, thanks 😊
Yes and the y seam isn't as hard as most people think! Have a great day 😊
you are adorable thank you for all you do
I'm all about easier and faster so you can make more quilts!
Me too!
I prefer the newer way. The triangles, I have tried that way and prefer the other way
How to combine 6patches of hexagone
The second version does not look as good as there are more seams and joins in the finished piece
I prefer the triangle method. For some reason the Y seam method for me was not easy. Quilting is suppose to be fun not frustrating. Each quilter prefers a different style. They’re all correct. One is just easier than the other to each person.
Totally agree!

I completely agree! As long as you're sewing and you like the end result, who cares about the method? 😁
You is beautyful
They are your quilts so there is no right or wrong way
