I never would have considered using that beautiful paisley print as a background…but it looks perfect! This is a great quilt! I really like it!super instructions!
I showed this video to my husband a few months ago and he wanted to make this quilt top. So, I cut out the pieces for him and he made it. It came out so beautiful. Now he is working on a pineapple quilt top. This is such a beautiful quilt that I would love about 2 more of these in different color choices of course. Thank you so much for the video on how to make this quilt.
Hello! I have been entertaining grandkids and having a fun summer but life is getting busier thru August. I hope you have a wonderful week ahead! Thank you for posting your video and for all that you do for the quilting community!
I love this! I am thinking about a grey background with pastel squares - maybe a baby quilt? The only thing I wish you would have added to the instructions was the measurement of yardage you used for the background. Otherwise a fabulous tutorial.
Brilliant! I love it. I want to see it with prints on the square. I may try it. Thank you for sharing this with us, and explaining it so thoroughly. Huggles Always 💖😊
Yes I am left handed it cuts perfectly through 4 layers and is very comfortable and controllable just check on delivery charges if u are in Australia Punch and Judy sell both left and right handed and have the spare blades as well
The cutter is a Martelli brand rotary cutter. They sell right & left-handed ones. The ruler is a O'Lipfa 11111 Ruler with Lip Edge, 5 x 24-Inch. I just checked Amazon, and they are out of stock at the moment.
@@revelationquilts yes. It looks amazing. I was going to post a picture but I cant on here. I did the same colours as you but free motioned quilted each square in different patterns
I’ve already started cutting this out but I’m going to change it even a little bit more. We had a Fabric swap of 2 1/2 inch black and whites at my quilt guild. This is such a neat quilt. And you are a great teacher.
I have made this quilt several times but with ALL rectangles. I loved the way yours turned out and would like to try with some fussy cutters blocks. I must mention that I much prefer modern quilt styles than traditional. Thank you for sharing your beautiful creativity.
So need to make this. I have that same Olippa ruler and love it. I put a hand weight on the end of the ruler to stop it from slipping sideways (thank you Donna Jordan). You could also fussy cut a fabric for the color squares to highlight a design or use squares from a panel. I love the solids you used as well. I need to start playing with solid colors more. Thank you.
Hi I am new to quilting and am interested to see how you quilt your squares when you have pieced together your designs. I have watched loads of your videos already and have loved every one I've seen so far. They are awesome and I love the way you show how they are pieced together to make your quilts. Thank you for sharing your skill of quilting with us all. 😊
Every one is different and I really don't know how I will quilt and given one until I actually get ready to quilt it. It is a mystery to me until I actually put it under the needle.
I'll admit I haven't quilted it yet, but I plan on stitching in the ditch for most of it. I will stitch a quilting line down the cube diagonally, then I will do a small something in the colored squares. The borders will get another design. When/if I ever get around to it, I will post a picture. I'm excited to see yours!
I love this quilt and want to get a start on it right away!!! I have some squares that are only 4inches that I have been saving for a project and they would look awesome in this style. Would I cut the black and background squares into a different size, if I decided to use my 4 inches squares? I appreciate your time and response. I am fairly new at quilting and need some extra help. Thank you!!!!!
If I understand your question correctly, you would want to cut your black/background squares at 4.5" so they make half square triangles measuring 4". That way everything will line up perfectly. Let me know if this helps.
This is wonderful. I'm looking for a quilt for a young man and this will be great. I'm curious about what kind of quilting you did on this to not distract from the 3-D effect?
Stitch in the ditch for the blocks, with the addition of a diagonal line from the bottom left corner to the colored square (to give it the 'cube' illusion), then meandering in the background/borders. For an extra pop, you could do some sort of motif in the colored squares. Enjoy!
This is a beautiful quilt, thank you for mentioning the fabric choice, I often wonder about the quality of the fabrics, I know I love the feel of good materials and sometimes you don't know what you are getting when you order online.
Just recently found you and i absolutely love your tutorials… very thorough and easy to follow! I love your quilts! Thank you for sharing your talent! ❤
I never would have considered using that beautiful paisley print as a background…but it looks perfect! This is a great quilt! I really like it!super instructions!
It just seemed to work - originally, I was going to use a solid, but I thought the neutral paisley would add some depth & dimension.
I was thinking the same thing and am quite surprised and pleased by it!
I think this will make a great eye spy quilt too. Thank you.
I think so too!
Thank you! I love this quilt! And so easy!
I know, right? It's so easy to make!

I love illusion quilts! And that background is perfect
I love this! I am thinking about a grey background with pastel squares - maybe a baby quilt? The only thing I wish you would have added to the instructions was the measurement of yardage you used for the background. Otherwise a fabulous tutorial.
I appreciate your input. I used scrap 5" squares for the background. We could probably figure it out.
😊I love it. I guess you don't need to have the boarders and the top and bottom the same size. Thank you.. ❤
You are right! You can make the quilt any size you want. Sometimes I wonder who made all these rules. Stepping outside of the box feels great!
❤ 3D & my grandson is going to love this!!! Your tutorials inspire & make me happy! Thank you!

I wonder if it was turned upside down, would it look like the blocks would look recessed.
If you watch this on your phone, turn it upside down when she shows the quilt. It doesn't.
I am so happy I found this tutorial. Thanks for great instructions.
