  • This modern quilt is super easy to make with only 2 seams per block and NO curved piecing. It's also a great introduction to applique if you've never tried it before. All you need to make this quilt is:
    1-42 pc. Layer Cake
    1-42 pc. Charm pack or 42-5" squares
    42 - 10" x 2.5" black strips (Use a jelly roll or cut strips from a black layer cake)
    There is digital pattern available for this. You can order (or pre-order) any of my designs here: revelationquilts.com/

    FUN QUILT ... I would have better luck fusing the heat and bond to fabric before I cut my 5 inch squares.

    • @revelationquilts
      @revelationquilts  Год назад +4

      Yes - Either way you can get the same result. I assumed most people would use a charm pack for their 5" squares so that's why I showed it that way, but you are right - it might be easier for yardage to just fuse a larger piece, then cut out your circles. Thank you for watching & commenting!

    Just a quickie comment - rolled up fusibles, etc. drive me crazy but I’ve learned a looong time ago that if you lightly reroll the opposite direction, it really helps the product lay flat!

    New subscriber. Unique design. I made one with rows of circles ten years ago. I traced an old cd. I was teaching grand girls to use the machine and they just zigzagged all the girls on.

      It’s the same for me. This one will be a challenge for me due to the bigger open spaces. I will post a pic when I’ve figured it out.

    Great quilt! I love the way the half circles make waves. But I'm a little concerned about fraying if the appliques aren't stitched down individually.

    • @revelationquilts
      @revelationquilts  Год назад +2

      By all means, stitch them down if you choose. If I planned on washing it a lot, I would too.

    What a beautiful quilt. Ist would make an extraordinary wallhanging. I‘d be very interested to find out how you are going to quilt it. Have you already decided?

    • @revelationquilts
      @revelationquilts  Год назад +1

      I'm debating that right now. Since there are a lot of open spaces, I think it's going to require some ruler work. I've been practicing! I also ordered a new ruler that I think will work great. (Hopefully - Fingers crossed).

    How many completed squares are needed to make a twin size quilt?

  • @ClaireBabin-ik8zj
    @ClaireBabin-ik8zj 6 месяцев назад +1

    I don't understand using sticky paper just to peel it off later. What is it's purpose?

    • @revelationquilts
      @revelationquilts  6 месяцев назад +2

      It allows the fabric to adhere to the base fabric. Ironing it releases the glue on the fabric. When you peel off the paper, the glue is left on the fabric and then you can adhere the 2 fabrics together.

  • @KrisAshMommy

    So if I have 8 colors from yardage...how many of each would I need? (For the colored portion) my brain has been doing math, and I can't math no more.

    • @revelationquilts
      @revelationquilts  4 месяца назад +2

      I used a layer cake with 42 pieces. So 42/8=5.25. If you started with 6 10” squares of each of your 8 colors, you’d have enough to make it.

    Do you know if anyone has made this quilt using something other than black? I am DETERMINED to use only stash for my projects but i don't have enough solid black. What do you think of a mottled black or maybe a black with tiny white dots? Any suggestions welcome!

    • @revelationquilts
      @revelationquilts  11 месяцев назад +1
