    After you do the strip set decide how big you want this to be (eg.40x48, 40x52) then remove a few of the the remaining strips that are very close in color. Continue with your pattern. When it reaches desired length (48") stop. Use remaining strips to make borders all the way around to increase size of quilt.

    If you cut strips from yardage you could cut two of the same for the strip sets, or cut them wider, to one for the uncut strips. One could use .5 precut jelly rolls.

    You know, I was just thinking….my husband always says “Oh no”, when I say that…lol. If you sew that strip set together and make a big tube, before cutting, it could be like a scrappy Trip Around the World or Bargello quilt. Cool. So many ways to use this. Love your pattern and will be doing this. Thanks

    What a cool quilt, your quilts look very modern. But still has a nod to the past. Since jelly rolls don't come with two of the same. Can you just make two of the same? I'm sure someone would love one as a gift.

    Inspired by your video I looked at a purple jelly roll and found it happened to have 40 strips and 2 of each strip. I make quilts for Project Linus and your quilt would be too big and also I wanted it to be more of a squarer rectangle (I hope this makes sense). So I followed your video until it was time to cut the big piece into 2" wide strips. I had 20 whole strips left over so I decided to use 10 whole strips with 9 of the 2" wide strips. Result were 2 quilts, each about 33" wide by about 40" long. Perfect size! Thanks for this video. It was so simple to make. I did not add any borders as it was big enough. I could not see a way to attach a photo of each quilt but I'd make them again.

    All Moda’s precuts are different with the exception of V & Co with only 30 prints in their lines along with Kaffe Fassett’s that are partially in pairs. The strip sets I’ve found that are consistently in pairs are Benertex and Tilda with 40. There could be more but the easy solution is to buy two. Love the quilt, really easy too.

    I'm pretty sure that you've found a way to get 2 each of the 2.5 inch strips. Moda uses all of a collection and called them Jelly Rolls. Wilmington and others do 2 of each of their basic collections. I use them in my baby quilts. Favorite is Robert Kaufman juniors, 20 strips no duplicates, and they come in so many color ways. So hopefully you can find some 2.5 inch strip bundles for your rainbow quilt.

    • @revelationquilts
      @revelationquilts  3 месяца назад

      This top makes up to 66” x 40”. On the sample’s longer sides, a solid 2 1/2” border was added, then a 1” strip of leftover blocks, then another solid 3” border. (See video for details.) This yielded a finished size of 66” x 50”.
      If you want a larger quilt, we recommend doubling the fabric, making two of these quilts, and sewing them together right down the middle. This yields 66” x 79”, close to a twin size. A larger quilt can be made by adding borders or making a 3rd quilt and sewing together.
