    I only came on this tutorial today. I liked the idea of jelly roll race quilts but not the sizes they turn out to be. Your quilt looks so amazing Donna !!!!!!
    This is THE BEST idea for doing them. I like that the strips are vertical too. I have just the jelly roll and accent fabric to make one.
    Thank you so much for coming up with such a brilliant idea.

    One more note, I appreciate the recommendation in the instructions to alternate direction of sewing (top to bottom, bottom to top) unlike in the video. That can make quite a difference in the outcome.

    Thank you so much for this tutorial. I have made several tops of quilts, but I am working with my own scraps. I did the first tops with 2.5" strips from my scraps both for guys that are over 6'2" tall so if they got too long it wouldn't be a problem. Then I was into my 2" scrap strips. I needed two tops but didn't have any idea on how to be sure I wasn't making a super king size top when all I want to make are nap quilts for my son and DIL Neither of which are tall. Now I know how to make the quilts the right size. Thank you. These were supposed to be gifts for Christmas and I am already 4 days late!

    I'm working on this quilt right now and hope to have it finished today maybe, well the quilt top, quilting it will take a while, but since I'm making a king size I plan on taking it to a quilter to get it done on a long arm. I love the batiks so much, and I have a lot of fabric and jelly rolls to use up, so I might use this same pattern and do it in batiks for my second one. This is the best jellyroll race pattern I've ever seen , so thank you, Donna Jordan. I'm going to be so pleased when I finish this!!!!!!!!

    I made one jelly roll race quilt and loved it, but this new way you have figured out is way better. I really like the secondary design, just makes the whole quilt pop and the border adds even more being that it took one of the brighter colors to accent from the quilt. Thanks so much for this video. I see many of these in my future, especially for my children hospital and battered women's and children's projects I have in mind. I think they would be thrilled with these cheerful color pallets and designs!

  • @ritaholland9332

    Hi. I love how your quilt turned out. I set about making one after I printed your directions. I also watched this video and went with your video instructions to keep the basket of strips next to your machine and sew away. I DID note in the written directions that if they staggers were not right, you could cut some off a strip. It wasn't until my staggers started going up (more than halfway through, which would have been okay). I cut big lengths off to try and fix the lay of the fabric, thinking that once I'd made the correction, everything would now self-correct. It wasn't until I finished (and had to rip seams and try and fix the stagger with what I had) that I realized that your directions must have been made AFTER the video and that we were supposed to cut our 71" strips ahead of time and cut the 2" off of the long strip before cutting the next 71". Now I know why your accent pieces are more more-evenly spaced. My quilt top is okay but, now, I know for when I try it again.

  • @winnepeterson7740
    @winnepeterson7740 Год назад +2

    I love this pattern and have made it once following the old instructions. The resulting quilt had descending accents but with uneven, almost random, spacing. Thank you for the updated version. One thing still confused me as I compared the cover picture on the pattern to what you were doing in the video, until I realized the picture is upside down! Once I turned it around, all became clear. I’m now going to make two more of these for nieces who are graduating from high school. Thank you Donna!!

    I really enjoyed this video. Normally, I'd never think of using a jelly roll as all the ones I've seen I've wanted to toss out so many of the strips. The jelly roll you picked by Hoffman is really very pretty all the way through. The addition of the accent squares added just the right touch of design to make an interesting but uncomplicated pattern. Lovely quilt
