  • Getting and giving report are some of the most crucial parts of patient care and handoff between shifts. Nurse "brains" are organized thoughts all on one page! Here's how I organize my nurse brain and how I use it to make my time management more efficient throughout my shift!
    Here's a link to the two templates I've made:

    Hi! My name is Kate and I am 26 years old. I live with my husband and three dogs. I recently earned my RN and BSN and am starting my nursing career! I am also very into health and fitness, having competed in my first show last Spring. I want to bring you all along on this journey as I move towards my next show and life as an RN! I love reading comments and messages, but all negative ones will be deleted. I like to portray a positive image and negativity just isn't welcomed here. Love ya all!

    I LOVE this. I've gone through writing so many versions of my own to figure out what works for me and I love that you ripped the paper in half.

    As a new cna on a med surge unit. This may helpna bit. A week in and i was on my on. Had changes with several pts from vital being q8 to q4. Blood sugars added after shift begun and had no idea. I like the idea of multi colored pens. This can help with the mess i have at the end of a shift. Then boxes. Half a x for completed tasks and full x meaning its charted in . epic. Thank you.

    I like this so much. I just made my own nurse brain b/c my preceptor just memorized everything and I can’t do that. Mine has 4 patients per page, this is so much better though

      I don't know how some people can memorize their papers. I already have difficulty not mixing up their names! I'm glad you like this one and I hope it helps you in creating your own!

    your lab section is interesting I think the X includes your BUN and creatinine but what labs do you keep on the fishbone?

    • @lyricalfitchick
      @lyricalfitchick  4 года назад +3

      The X contains H&H, WBCs and platelets and the fish bone is chemistry, such as Na+ and K+ :)

    How can I keep all the medications due organized?

    • @lyricalfitchick
      @lyricalfitchick  3 года назад +2

      I usually write times they are due along the bottom with the amount of meds I need to pull. Saves me space from writing every single medication down

      sorry i understand this is an example. i just cant help but to point it out....challenge the order..........

      I definitely made this as a baby nurse and didn't think the examples through yet, but now that I am a cardiac nurse, yeah! I would definitely challenge that!
