Thank you! I actually found your protocol previously. :) I've also listened and read Dr. Brownstein's book as well. I did try 10 drops and got a headache so backed down to 4 drops/25 mgs and so far is working well.
I initially started with 4 drops, but after a while it was too much as I was feeling tired. Following J Crow's recommendation and starting with 2 drops twice a week now.
I'm a Vietnam Vet-used iodine tablets when I filled my canteen from a stream. Our drinking water was also treated back at base camp with iodine. Nasty tasting water. Slept on the ground for a year in the rain sometimes soaking wet--never sick a day, not even a cold and I was a heavy smoker then. I always thought it must have been the iodine.
I am a 73 yo female, hypothyroid since age 40. Ketovore since June last year and strictly carnivore for 183 days. I began 2 gtts 2% Lugols/ day, increasing 2 gtts every week. I am now taking 8 gtts/day. Despite in range thyroid functions, I have remained cold for years; touching people with my cold hands would shock them! I now have warm hands and feet and am overjoyed with this change! Middle Tennessee Rita ❤
I had polycystic ovary disease. I went to many doctors and was prescribed so many types of birth control pills, cancer medication, Metformin, and the list goes on. I almost had a hysterectomy because of how heavy the flow was. I had become severely anemic. It was crazy and I felt trapped. I can't remember what RUclips video I was watching, but it was recommended to try iodine for breast tenderness. Some little voice in the back of my head sent me to dig deeper into that comment. I ended up reading the book iodine crisis. It took about seven months and now I'm in my forties and finally having a normal monthly cycle. It's completely crazy and there's a part of me that's very upset at today's medical system. All I needed was iodine!! I am in my mid forties and now can have children but that ship has sailed. I know my life would have been completely different if I had found iodine sooner!!!😢
Only “ a part of you is very upset” ???? The medical ,pharma and food industries have DESTROYED the health of pretty much the whole of the worlds population !! This is an ongoing catastrophe !!
I have heard of many people getting pregnant in their mid forties! If you still want a child maybe you can have one. Look into Proov. its an ovulation tracking kit that also tracks your other hormones like FSH, LH, and E3...many people sucessfully use it to get pregnant. 40s is not too late. as long as you have a cycle there is a chance.
Thankyou so much for interviewing Dr Brownstein. Why don't doctor's put people on iodine first and observe their finding's before putting them on thyroxine forever? Stating the obvious.......
Say you start mega dosing…..25mg or something everyday…..and you heal whatever problems were related to iodine deficiency….once healed, do you decrease the amount of iodine for maintenance or continue with megadosing????
As a fellow family physician who also stayed open during the pandemic, I feel the pain and lingering caution that Dr. Brownstien displayed. I watched as many holistic and nutritional healers had their platforms taken down, suffer from ridicule and some seemed to just disappear. Its one reason why I refrained from being on social media discussing the many modalities that we used to help people through the pandemic. It was a very bizarre time in medicine. Currently we are bringing this awareness into the 22 year old practice along with bio-identical hormone replacement at a very high level. Dr. Brownstiens work is very much discussed and greatly appreciated by our colleagues and his books are required reading. I would also like to say that we are all very fortunate to have a healer like Judy Cho who uses her training and wisdom on this platform to help people heal. I appreciate her and will continue to always have an open mind when listening to this great source of information. Thanks 🙏🏽 JC!
My family and I did not take any vaccines, we caught the flu. Learned how to expelled mucus from the lungs from breathing small breaths hold to large breaths hold then push your lungs.when expelling out.the musus comes out slowly...continue until all the musus is out. No coughing took 1 hour. Hot bath for 2 hours sweat the virus out .
What was done to doctors during & after covid and continues to be done defines the word unconscionable. It is something you can't un-see and can never forget. The experience informs every piece of information you ever consume from then till forever
There was a doctor Brushar.. maybe spelling his name incorrectly perhaps.. he was very vocal on youtube during early covid then disappeared. Wondered what happened to him he was great and down to earth about covid.. would like to see if he is onyoutube again??

@lindastraub7542 hi I m taking 1 capsule per day of pure iodine ( potassium iodine ). Most people seem to take lugol iodine tho. I might move to that. The tablet worked immediately for me ( 1 hour ) it was wild
@@davidhiggins5366 I have lugols and started with 2 drops daily just last week. According to Dr. Brownstein 8 drops per day is optimal. What changes did you see ? I haven't noticed anything yet
My functional medicine Dr. put me on iodine. The label says powered by fulvic. I’ve been taking it for 3 days, exercising, and taking vitalogy. Vitalogy has everything in it so it’s taking the place of most of the supplements I’m currently taking. Less brain fog, more energy feeling better.👍🏼🌻
In January, it will be 4 years that I am on Iodine, best decision I have done in my life. It has helped me gaining my life back and making chronic fatigue disappear
Interviews like this will make even the most trusting person question if these things are done on purpose. The iodine-bromide-fluoride thing is wild. It's too perfect to be an unhappy accident.
I remember when I was in first grade we were given "thyroid pills". Some kids hated the taste and wouldn't eat them, but I loved the taste and would eat mine plus 4 or 5 extra. At this same time, flouride in toothpaste and water was introduced. Also, iodine was removed from baked goods and put into salt. Margarine & Crisco was all the rage; but, thankfully, my family favored butter and lard.
I remember thyroid pills in grade school too. I kind of think it had to do with the threat of nuclear war. We did drills for that, too. Anyway, I’ve taken Synthroid since I was 25. Nothing to do with iodine, but our grade school also had a “Swish” program in which the students rinsed with half a Dixie cup of fluoride once a week, then spit it out then put a napkin into the cup. I’ve had about five root canals and multiple fillings…but no agency ever followed up after HS, so great study.
@jgrysiak6566 Rubbish. At almost 75 my Doc was really happy with my Calcium Score. Happy with me no longer having arthritic pain. Happy I am no longer diabetic or hypertensive.
This is such an excellent podcast. As a retired nurse with Hashimotos I am sending it to a few also retired nurse friends. Love dr Bronstein and his sharing about his own father. I will be more earnest about taking my Lugol’s so I can share it with my endocrinologist next month. Think you are both right on about many things. Thank you!
I have basically ditched conventional medicine ! It has not fixed any of my symptoms . This natural approach is helping me immensely . Thank you for this excellent interview ! ❤
I started iodine in mid December after months of feeling as if something was stuck in my throat (sort of like feeling peanut butter stuck). I also suffered constipation, cold feet and hair loss. High blood pressure and more. The iodine completely got rid of that weird lump in the throat feeling, and no more cold feet. However, I did just take a full thyroid panel and everything was normal except the TSH elevated at 7.3. I believe Dr. Brownstein answered my exact question about this. He mentioned being idoine deficient and then taking it that sometimes you will see elevated TSH. I found this fascinating. I am curious to check it again in about 3 months eating clean carnivore and taking my iodine. THANK YOU!
I picked up a old little book titled: Folk Medicine by D.C.Jarvis M.D. written in 1958. More than 3 Million Copies Sold on front cover. For some old time wisdom, it's a gold mine. Chapter 11 The Importance of Iodine is a must read. He talks of using Lugol's Solution. "There is a well known law of halogen displacement. This means that any one of the four can displace the element with the higher weight, but cannot displace an element with a lower atomic weight." Relative Atomic Weight is as follows, Fluorine 19., Chlorine 35.5, Bromine 80, Iodine 127, IE. Fluorine can displace all of the other 3 halides because it is the smallest size. Needless to say Iodine gets displaced by the other 3 halides because it is the biggest in size. Personally i would recommend taking your Iodine first thing upon waking up, probably your most fasted state and having your body with the longest daily window of detoxing the other halides. A recommended method is 12 oz water or more with a tsp of apple cider vinegar, stir in your Lugol's drop amount. I actually think it makes for an enjoyable drink. Another thing i read somewhere is that all wheat flour has bromate in it since about the 80's when they switched out iodine. The only flour that doesn't have it will state that the flour is unbromated on the ingredient list otherwise it is. Another thing, all animal products are low in Fluorine, the most dominate of all halides, i'd say because all animals are trying to detox themselves of it like we are. Plants absorb Fluorine from the soil and water and just continue to accumulate hence plant foods have the highest levels. Fluorine is more toxic then lead but not as toxic as cyanide. Google search. 97% of Europe does not fluoridate there water because Flourine has no biological benefit to do so. Also Chlorine in your water will stop absorbtion of Iodine. Another method of getting your iodine is putting it on your skin, i can't remember how fast it disappears as to how much you would need to reapply. Also iodine can remove skin tags, warts and other skin things.
I'm 72 and have always had a problem with my weight. A friend started talking about iodine, and I listened to a couple of Dr Brownstein's interviews. I had a bottle of triple iodine complex capsules (in case of nuclear accident) and started taking 1/day (12.5 mg) about a week ago. On day 2, I noticed an increase in energy. I got so much yard work done in the last week and cleaned my house for a party and many other things - in a week! I look back and wonder where I got all this energy. Was it the iodine? Thanks for all the great info!
I got injected with iodine for a ct scan and was bouncing with energy the next 2 days despite flushing it out by drinking tons water to protect my kidneys as ct radiologist recommended... I am normally always exhausted bit not after the intravenous iodine for the ct...I got yard work done that I hadn't been able to do for a year. Must be the iodine.
6 years ago I was given a 5% chance of living past 5 years at my cancer diagnosis and my treatment had to be ended early as I was too ill to complete it. When I got out of the hospital I did loads of research and Iodine was the standout thing and have been taking it ever since. I never asked what my odds of surviving were after not completing my treatment but they would be worse in theory I would imagine. Anyway still here and maybe I got lucky but I wouldn't bet against the Iodine helping me.
Hi. I took 2x300mcg twice a day and take half that now. The other thing I did and still do is Bitter Apricot kernels but I have to have it crushed in yoghurt because of my poor swallow after the radiation damage. I reckon at first I was having 8 kernels a day and probably half that now. I also do my own Broccolii sprouts for the Sulforaphane which supposed to be one of the best things you can eat. Good luck and happy to give you my contact if ever you want to chat about it. Craig xxxx
Are you having estrogen positive tumor? My mother is having phyllodes which is estrogen positive I don't whether iodine would be a good choice for her or not?....
I’ve been trying to decide if I should take iodine over the past months, but most of the videos out there are a few years old. I’m so glad I happened upon this video! It was exactly what I was looking for.
@@joycetrenholme687 Have you looked up @NutritionwithJudy 's iodine protocol? It's worth looking up if you haven't, and it's free!! I believe you can find it on her website if she doesn't have a link on here.
He listens, he cares, he uses his skills and knowledge to really support what the patient is saying, he truly is the epitome of what a doctor reallh should be 😊
I listened to this, again, 7 months later. It is a wonderful interview and I really appreciate you having him on again, he is so real, so funny, informed and open to real ‘practicing’ medicine! Love that his daughters are in his practice!! And he’s about 45 minutes from my house!! 😊
@@Alex-zm8ss I use a Lugol’s solution 2%. Ingredients are: Distilled water (94%), Potassium Iodide (4%), Iodine (2%). I apply 3 drops on my wrist rubbing it in with my other wrist, two times a day. It absorbs really fast. Hope this helps😊
I have been carnivore woe for 4 months BBBE. A few cheats early on, but clean last 2 months. I did some iodine drops early on and I started sleeping well (I got up to 7 hours of sleep, normal is 2-3 for the last 9 years), got up to 10 drops of 2% I slept so well. Life got busy and I stopped the iodine. I saw this video and started my drops again. By day 2 I only slept 4 hours, today is day 3 I feel better already! Attitude, energy overall feeling is so much better, I can't wait for tonight's sleep! Thank you!!
I’m have been following Dr Brownstein and Judys videos for a couple of years. The iodine and salt protocol has been a miracle in my carnivore journey. It’s so wonderful to have Judy interview Dr Brownstein again. Judy teaches and interviews so well that I keep learning her channel as a learning hub for healing from my lupus, kidney and liver issues, Hashimoto’s, cancer and arthritis plus colitis among all of the other “itis” diseases I had before I started this deactivation of the American food system in my biological system
@akbananachucker2441 , Take it n an empty stomach, works better. I put 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar in Glass water, 25 min before meal. I take it before bed . Helps me sleep like a baby

Over the years I have been enlightened over a great many things in our healthcare system and what we actually need as individuals. My first discovery was magnesium and it was one of the greatest discoveries of my life. I started taking a whole food supplement and magnesium coupled with it and it stopped a lot of my health issues. After that it was unrefined salt and that changed a lot of things as I was demanding a tremendous amount from my body in the summertime running my company. Listening to this made me want to cry. I'm heartbroken literally over the fact that we are so in the dark about what true health actually is and we are supposed to be living in the greatest country on the face of the planet. I'm just confused about that. I feel like we've been lied to for so long that we don't even know what truth looks like anymore. I'm very appreciative for this information as I will begin implementing it into my own life. I still believe we can live long and without major health issues if we will just listen to information like this. Thank you for the interview
I have hypothyroidism. I did the Hakala Iodine Loading test, and was very low in iodine. I also live in Michigan. I went on 50mg iodine daily for a year and felt great. I have since lowered down to 25 mg/day unless I get sick with a virus - then I go back to 50mg until I feel better.
I started adding iodine to my Epsom soaks. I also add sea salt and soak for 20 minutes or more. I leave the water in the tub to increase the humidity and allow the minerals to diffuse a little into the air. I don't know how much im getting but it sure feels good!
I’ve been taking iodine for years and years, thanks to Dr. Brownstein! I also have Hashimoto’s and I’ve never had a flare because of iodine. My antibodies are very low and my dose of thyroid medication has stayed the same for as long as I can remember. Thanks, Judy for this podcast!
I have been taking iodine since 2014. I had to start small with the drops but worked my way up to 50mg (Iodoral or Lugotab) over about 18 months due to some herx reactions at first (skin splits, etc). Read the literature. I also take the ATP cofactors (b2 and b3). We also filter the fluoride out of our water to avoid the competition with the iodine receptors. Feel great! I am a 70yo female
That’s wonderful to hear! I’ve just started taking 600Ug (MILLIGRAMS) daily. So you worked up to the point that you are now taking 50 MACROGRAMS. Is that correct?
@@interestedpart2650ug are micrograms. Mg are milligrams. G is for grams. Hope that helps. We are talking about milligrams. Iodoral is 50 mg. That's the amount to protect the thyroid from radiation. The rda is in micrograms. 1,000ug =1 mg
I'm in Atlantic Canada. I purchase the Atlas brand of Lugol's from a local compounding pharmacy. It's made by Atlas Laboratories in Quebec. The medicinal ingredients indicates that each milliliter contains 50 mg of iodine and 100 mg of potassium iodide. The bottle doesn't indicate whether it's 2% or 5% so I called the company and they confirmed it was 5%. The bottle does not include a dropper however I've purchased a glass bottle and a dropper from a local health store. Hope that helps the Canadians.
Thanks buddy. Just called my local compounding pharmacy and they had it. I spend the past few days looking for some at natural food stores but it’s hard to trust the source.
I live in the UK. I was put on thyroxin after feeling poorly and out of sorts for years. I was also menopausal! And I was Struggling to recover from a heavy early dose of covid. I feel so much better. I also started on HRT patches to see how they affected me. I have been working on my immune system through diet. The thyroxin is low dose and when the Dr’s do a 3 month prescription re-check I asked to get my levels checked - the answer is ‘we don’t routinely do this’ I’ve tried each Dr and offered to pay. How can they continue to prescribe without checking my levels? I have finally got someone at the practice to get these done (pharmacist prescriber) and I’m waiting on the results. I want to come off thyroxin naturally but need a base to start from.
May I ask if you went to Dr. Brownstein’s center? I have a card to become a new patient. I have Lyme and reactivated viruses and autoimmune symptoms. I’m not getting better lately with my Lyme doctor, so I may go see them❣️
I had been on thyroid medication for about 25 years when I saw your previous segments with Dr. Brownstein and another person about a year ago. I had my doctor do the blood test for iodine, and it was below the lab's normal range. I dropped my medication and ramped up to 50 mg of iodine, then after a month went in for TSH, T3, and T4 tests. Initially my TSH went super high as you described, but the T3 and T4 were in the normal range without medication. After 3 months the TSH came back down and the T3 and T4 stayed normal. I asked my GP why doctors didn't test for iodine or suggest iodine supplementation before putting people on medication. He smiled and said it was a good question. Now I'm down to a 12.5 mg tablet, but think I'll go back to 25 mg based on Dr. Brownstein's advice.
@@mango38628 I started on 2% liquid lugol's solution ramping up from 1 to 5 drops, then switched to 12.5 mg capsules. I don't have the brand in front of me, but got them all from Amazon. Some people are more sensitive than others to the displacement effect of bromine, so how fast to ramp up would depend on how you feel. I noticed that it has an almost amphetamine like effect - I felt noticeably more lucid at higher doses. Once I stopped using the liquid, I started putting one drop a day in my dog's human keto food diet. She's a 14 year old golden retriever who's still doing well.
Great interview! I read Dr Brownstein’s book years ago and took iodine for a couple of years and it helped. Fast forward to my late sixties and I am happy for the reminder. Thank you for the refresher course.
Dr. Brownstein is the reason my pituitary adenoma is shrinking. I saw him on another podcast last year, read a few of his books, found an iodine literate practitioner near me to help me. My prolactin levels are the lowest in 2 years, and my adenoma has shrunk. I’ve been taking Lugols 25mg a day since April. I also take cofactors with it.
Both my son's had flouride treatments at the dentists regularly. But their cavities kept coming. Then i stopped the treatments and like magic they stopped getting cavities! Years later i mentioned this to a guy who said that he experienced the same thing when he quit flouride. So, i believe it's unnecessary for preventing cavities.
Flouride has never been proven to prevent cavities. In fact, some observations are that, frequency of cavities can actually increase. Much of Europe has now banned fluoride use, because of no value, and more harm than good.
Years back a long term carnivore reported that Dr. Ken Berry had her start doing Iodine supplementation. She reported breast/ nipple tenderness going back years. This self report was in conflict of numerous times saying she had no health issues over the years. I saw him years ago and started supplementing Iodine. The Goiter Belt goes all the way to the coast line of the Pacific Northwest states of Washington & Oregon. Kinda skews the seafood cured Iodine deficiency hypothesis. The Goiter belt does not extend into the central US above 100 miles above the coast. I think something introduced into our diet conflicts with Iodine in our bodies. Hmm… he notes how Iodine competes / conflicts with Bromide & Fluoride in human receptors at the cellular level. Bromide is a dough conditioner that has been in the diet for 100+ years. Fluoride has been in municipal water for about the same time. Hmmmmmmm
I'm in W Oregon, and though we're an old sea bed, the rainfall is one of the reasons we don't have a much iodine in the soil! And yes - Dr B talks of the correlation between inceasing amount of bromide and fluoride in many diets and medications! I've got a solid carbon counter filter for fluoride, and try to focus on whole foods. I add kelp to my gardens, and just got a rain barrel ....
Dr. Brownstein: I think you would enjoy meeting my favorite chiropractor for a long lunch some weekend, Dr R.E. (Randy) Tent of Novi, Mich. Despite his lousy diet by my standards, he's an incredible physical specimen with loads of experience helping patients recover from conditions considered hopeless by their Beaumont physicians simply by loading them up his his nutritional supplements. His dad, like yours, suffered from overmedication. He has a wonderful sense of humor too. Some of his 2-hr video lectures may still be archived on youtube and Rumble before covid changed everything.
I have been supplementing with 150 mcg of potassium iodide for 3 years. I'm not sure if that is enough but I do know that my Hashimoto's and hypothyroidism symptoms are pretty much under control, I think. I have also had a regrowth of my thinning hair. I would really like to connect with a doctor that would get me on the right track and keep me there. I really appreciate this video and am looking forward to purchasing the doctors book.
Judy, I love how you ask questions from a patient point of view. I've been lax on taking iodine since starting my CIRS treatment, but just started taking it again this morning - and then this video popped up!
thank you. 😊It's because we have a full time practice! My thoughts and questions are always in the shoes of our clients, patients, and community members!
I’ve been doing carnivore/ketovore for almost a year but I was having a lot of hair loss and issues with my fingernails splitting and peeling. I started supplementing with iodine in March and my hair loss has stopped completely and my fingernails are now starting to grow and no longer peeling.
I do love Dr Brownstein and all of the hard work and research he has done having a special needs son I respect his expertise and compassion also have his book on iodine that really opened my eyes …thank you for this podcast and information … stay blessed one and all
What a great interview. Judy didn’t wax eloquent but asked great questions. She was obviously prepared. Dr. Brownstein gave to the point answers. His supporting conversation was interesting. Did not seem like an hour interview. Thanks so much!
DINIBEAR. You are amazing you coveted so much info with numbers wow. When you said that yoy are on a journey by yourself I get it. I am also by myself .For a month i watched everythiñg there is about thyroid supplements lugal etc. I want you to know that you moved me and i get it..Blessing you with love and don't give up.❤ 😊😊
I realize this video is a few months old now but just wanted to relay my recent experience. Several weeks back I went to see an Endo to help me with some diabetic issues and a possible Thyroid issue. During the visit she ended up ordering the 4 anti-body tests for the Pancreas and also the 2 anti-body tests for my Thyroid. Turns out my Thyroid was slightly enlarged. Ordered an ultrasound which found 3 nodules, one of which she wanted biopsied. Took over a month to finally get the biopsy. In the meantime I thought I would get more knowledgeable on the Thyroid. Saw Dr Brownstein in multiple videos so thought I'd begin adding iodine daily. Ended up taking about 1 to 2 mg daily. Fast forward to this past week and finally saw the Endo again. Told her I was taking iodine to which she suggested to stop. So I think my Endo is a lost cause at this point. Initially I had thought she might be "better" with my LCHF lifestyle but turns out NOT. I still do not have a diagnosis of my Thyroid however still waiting on further pathology from the biopsy to they can rule out cancer. My TSH numbers are almost always on the lower side of normal.
What an incredibly informative video! Thanks to you both! I have Hashimotos and breast cancer. I have been told not to take iodine for decades. I just started taking iodine and am feeling very good about the decision. I’ve been cautious prior to watching this video. Just one drop of 2% Lugol’s every other day. I’m going to start a drop a day then taper up as suggested.
I'm sorry to hear that. I'd look into my interview with Lynne Farrow. She also had breast cancer and she has now created a breast cancer foundation ruclips.net/video/FOw7Ao_1J5E/видео.htmlsi=S9Ntg-sY5RZ_2pwN Here's the info on her organization: www.breastcancerchoices.org/ipractitioners.html
Hey my son was getting wrecked by Lyme. Get the book "Healing Lyme " by Stephen Buhner. It has (cured ) not only my son but many others. Correct herbal repertoire = all better but medical ketogenic diet may be needed, also 2 doses of Ivermectin ( docs in 90s were finding this crucial as spirochetes may hide in micro parasites that antibiotics or herbs can not reach).
I have actually rubbed 5% Lugol's on my breasts to make the pain from the cysts go away, but now I am taking internally since 3 days ago. Between the iodine and extra salt intake, it has stabilized by blood pressure and blood sugar! Our bodies were designed to heal itself, given the nutrition that it needs!
@@lorenacortez6483 I think the most I took was 50mg. I take 5% lugol's. Now I take 2 or 3 drops daily. I've had no more problems with cysts. Just be sure to take salt, magnesium, and vit C.
Thanks for your reply. I was wondering how did you start to introduce it to your diet? I am taking 150mcg that I know it is very low. I am wondering how much I should start and in how many days or weeks i should increasing it? I appreciate your answers thanks!
@@lorenacortez6483 I have no medical issues and take no medication, only supplements. This is what I did after researching iodine. I started with one drop for a week or two and lncreased to 2 drops. And made sure that I took the salt, magnesium and vit c. I get selenium in my multi. I had good luck with that.
I take Lugols Iodine...been taking it for years and still had my second thyroid crash. My GP begged me to quite taking the Iodine so I tried quitting it. My energy dropped like crazy. I'm back on the Lugols and switched to compounded levothyroxin to eliminate allergens.. celiac and many other allergies issues. Still not fully well so started the Carnivore diet.
I have seen where the Lugols is not so good so I have found some tablets that are just seaweed with nothing else and it works well. I love Dr. Brownstein! I would like to know for the companion nutrients what is absolutely necessary for those that are eating very low carb as we don't need as many extra supplementation normally. I have read his works and watched every interview he has been in, but that has never been touched on and it seems the nutrient(A, C, B, etc) would be more for those on a more standard higher carb diet.
in our practice, we don't see the others matter other than starting with some sole water, initially, in case you are detoxing bromide. The 24 hour urine tests we see show often higher levels of bromide and sometimes fluoride: www.nutritionwithjudy.com/sole-water-recipe-balancing-electrolytes and www.nutritionwithjudy.com/shopping/functional-tests/24-hour-urine-iodine-loading-test-kit
@@NutritionwithJudy that is very helpful and was kind of what I was thinking as well. I know the salt loading is important regardless of the type of eating for moving out the toxi halides. I have done the hakala labs loading test, straight from the company, and it is such a wealth of information. I couldn't afford the bromine testing, but based off symptoms I know I am detoxing from that so making sure I do the salt loading for sure. I will not worry too much about the companion nutrients since I am carnivore. I might email Dr. Brownstein and pick his brain too. Thanks for the reassurance.
Hi Judy, I really liked how you gave an overview before the interview even started. That was really helpful and encouraged me to watch the whole thing.
This couldn't have come at a more appropriate time.🌞 I have sadly avoided salt for decades previously. Plus not getting much iodine either when I was plantbased. I have Hashimoto's and then you hear how important iodine is and then you hear how detrimental it is to take iodine...😅 Apparently the thyroid becomes more "visible" for the antibodies when you take iodine so they can more easily destroy it.😨 I heard one thyroid expert say that iodine is very important but to not take it until you have healed the Hashimoto's. But how would you heal that with insufficient amounts of iodine in the first place...😅🤔 I have taken 1 drop a day though for about 6 months just to get some iodine. I heard him say in his interview with Dr Anthony Chaffee that he recommended 25 mg a day. But I haven't figured out how many drops that is bcs that depends on if he means potassium iodine or just the iodine part? On my bottle it says 2 drops: potassium iodine 10 mg, iodine 5 mg. So...25 mg pure iodine or...? Dr Elizabeth Bright recommended 4 drops a day in one interview but 2 drops in the interview with Dr Chaffee. So. Bottom line...I'm confused. I did try to take 4 drops for 2 days and I started to have the hypothyroid "shivers" again. Don't know why an increased dose of iodine would do that...Unless it made my thyroid more visible to the antibodies? Or it might ofc just have been a coincidence ofc....I'm taking 2 drops a day now though but that's supposedly not enough... Let's hope things will get clearer after I've finished watching this!🌞🪷.
It depends on whether you get the 2% or 5%. Dr Bright says 2 drops of the 5%, but if you have the 2% you need 4 drops. If you decide to do the 25mg and have the 2% then you need 8 drops. I do exactly this. I figure the 25mg is easy to do and cheap to get. Obviously if you have the 5% you only need 4 drops to get 25mg. Hope this helps!
@@hollybishop484 It doesn't say if it's 2 % or 5 % on my bottle...But I wrote in my comment what it says on the bottle. Do they count the potassium iodine number or the pure iodine number? Nobody has been able to answer this sadly. On my bottle it says 2 drops: potassium iodine 10 mg, iodine 5 mg. So....25 mg equals 5 drops or 10 drops?....😅
I think Judy mentioned to use a lugols solution product. Just Google it. Mine has 3mg per drop. To get to 25 that's 8 drops. I was taking half of that so I am increasing my dosage. I'm a carnivore and I workout but have had periods of muscle cramping so I am attempting to fix that. Drinking enough and perhaps my mag levels could also be a culprit. It's the only side effect I have :)
I am 80yrs old. At 12yrs of age as I hit puberty I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism without blood test. Symptoms were bad hair loss, weight gain, and exhaustion. Was told my medication was Thyroxine from sheep. Can't recall how long I took it but over the years whenever I got particularly tired I got BT but always told I was on the lower side but it was acceptable??? . This happened many times with different doctors in the UK. Recently I asked again and the same occurred but I read a book called Tears Behind Closed Doors by Diana Holmes and I was amazed with how many folk had had my experience. So I took it into my own hands and I obtained Thyroxine on line and started at 25mcg increasing to 100mcg and gradually I felt much better. 9yrs ago I was diagnosed with Primary Immune Deficiency which was a shock at the age of 71yrs but it made a lot of sense re my health life. After your excellent talk with Dr. Brownstein I will also take Iodine. I did take it at times over the years but without Thyroxine it didn't help. Thank you very much.
I used 10 drops of 2% Lugols today for the first time and experienced the most energy and focus in years. I've been supplementing with Selenium for about a week so I'm sure the combo is having an exponential effect.
I have half my thyroid. I started about three or four days ago taking 6 to 8 drops in the morning and again in the afternoon. Started taking selenium. And I am having more energy and feeling better. I’ve been on liothyronine and levothyroxine forever and never felt good. So I hope this works.
Thank you for this! I became a federal nurse Whistleblower against HHS in September 2021. Dr. Brownstein gave me the knowledge of Lugo’s iodine in treating Covid and nurse Michelle educated on his protocol! He changed so many lives! And now we have the coronavirus subcommittee findings just telling us what we already knew to be true. God bless you both!
I had a benign cyst removed from my ovary at 18 years old. I went on to have 5 children in 10 years. I had been having iodine Lugols 2 percent for about a year. At about 64 they found a nodule on my thyroid but couldn’t tell if it was cancer so had a left thyroidectomy which ended up being benign doctor said maybe it was caused by the iodine! Then I was diagnosed with Parkinson’s at 67!
I was diagnosed with under active thyroid in 2004 , after years of fatigue . I ve been taking 75 mg thyroxine since 2004 . I'm 71 but still regularly get hot flashes , which I've had since beginning menopause at 48 . I assumed the flashes were due to menopause but could there be a connection with the thyroid or the levothyroxine . You mentioned bromide ...could that cause hot flashes . ? Can anyone advise please ?
Hello. Absolutely those hot flashes are or could be from Levothyoroxine. I am55 years old. 20 lbs over weight from hysterectomy 2 years ago. I am on no other medications! Doc put me on Levo sub clinical to my hysterectomy as a test not knowing why I was bleeding so much. I had 14 symptoms from that drug. Hot flashes etc. took myself off of it within the first year of taking levo all 14 symptoms have gone! Heck I thought it was menapause. Nope it was the drug. No medications. I work out 🏋️♀️ 3days a week and eat fairly healthy. Be careful of any medications. take care,
What about the issues with dosing between 15&45mg? I’ve heard the 12.5 is safe for everyone but if you’re battling something like Hashimoto’s you want to be at a minimum of 45-50mg or higher. Having a dosage between 15-45mg can cause problems. I believe it was Elizabeth Wright who brought this up.
Tx for this talk. I was diagnosed with fibrocystic breast around 1990. Life went on and was started on thyroid medication 2013. I can see the progression. I just this year started taking iodine supplement. Not sure yet how it's helped but I don't feel worse. I am carnivore for 1.5 yrs. My health is slowly improving. I heard the iodine helps gut health and I have not been constipated for about a month. Not eating fiber either. Tx. This talk shows I am on the right track. I can't believe I was in bad health for so long and the medical system was only diagnosing and it was sink or swim from there. I could have started the iodine back in 1990. I am sure this is preventing a decline in my health. Sooo very grateful!

Well this was serendipitous. I am reading Dr Brownstein’s book on iodine right now. Allegedly I have hypothyroidism. I say that because the test results came back super high yet I have NO symptoms. The only thing I CANNOT do is lose the final amount of adipose fat. I eat correctly, beef, eggs, lamb, elk, venison, bison, butter, wild seafood are the foundations with a bit of pickles, sauerkraut occasionally. I am active, sleep well, supplement with Omega 3, Vitamin C and D in the winter. I make sure to take electrolytes too. I can’t figure it out. I have been taking Lugol’s 5% for six months now and noticed no changes. I started with 2, then 4, now after reading Dr Brownstein’s book I am taking 8 drops for 90 days to let the mitochondria recycle through. After that, and nothing happens I will be at a complete and utter loss.
I have Hashimoto's, also with few symptoms other than lower temperature and insomnia that doesn't affect my quality of life. Carnivore for 4 years, so diet isn't the issue. From my own deep dive, iodine is only part of the problem. Not enough full-spectrum sunlight is a common problem these days, plus too much blue light and at the wrong time (after sunset). Cold therapy has been recommended by many people I respect and trust, but I'm loathe to do it. Maybe see a naturopathic doctor to discuss your particular case?

My endocrinologists told me, "there is more $$$ in treating people than curing them". That's why.
Big pharma won't make as much money on iodine 😂😢
There are many thyroid coaches talking about how iodine above 1mg actually causes hashimotos. Dr Brownstein needs to debate these people
Amen
They obviously not aware of the halogens - bigger picture
He can't prove anything.

Just don't eat artery clogging & fattening butter or lard or any animals, birds, fish or dairy products

THANK YOU!

Iodine + adding additional unrefined salt brought down my blood pressure. Brownstein talks about that on his salt interview.
The skin test doesn’t work apparently proven! It dissipates in the air.
Jarvis's iodine dose recommendations are obsolete compared to what Dr Brownstein recommends

How much Iodine are you taking/did you take for the cancer? I am a breast cancer patient.
What about the 2% lugols?
For 2% you need two and half times the drops. Eg. 4 drops of 5% is equivalent to 10 drops of 2%.
You can also check a lugols calculator online too.

I make my own toothpaste with coconut oil, Redmond's Natural salt, and baking soda. No problems at all - and no dentist. I do eat only meat and eggs.

Hmmmmmmm

Fluoride and Bromide are poisons to the human body. Watch free documentaries on "Fluoride is a poison". worth your time.

@@hollybishop484thank you 😊greatly appreciate your input.

@gardengirl9099
Are you taking the Iodine and still taking the Levothyroxine? Thank you 🙏
Do you drink it in water or place it on your skin?
I saw something that claimed taking a selenium supplement increases risk of cancer. I eat a couple of brazil nuts daily to add selenium to my diet.
Isn't Lugol's iodine poisonous?
Awesome interview!❤
Good to see you again Dr B! Still taking the iodoral you perscribed 20+ years ago! Go BLUE
How many MG daily? 12.5? 50MG version?
Hashimoto's is also associated with gluten sensitivities which are way up due to GMO grains
Dr Brownstein’s Iodine protocol includes Magnesium, Vitamin C and selenium. How do you recommend supplementing with them on a Carnivore diet?
Magnesium glycinate capsules at bedtime
The rest just - eat meat, repeat!
Been on a week of iodine after about 1 month carnivore and seems like my skin issues are better and my psoriasis is clearing up!!!
Thanks Judy great one! I think I'm going to start bumping up again. I take 2 drops of 2% for approximately a year or more.
Oh dear. Not good.
Fish oil .olive oil coconut oil all will help parkinsons also vit E . Also B complex .

What iodine supplement? You need Lugols Iodine, not just any iodine.
I’ve learned so much, excellent information! Thanks!!
Finally! Someone who tells us how many drops of j crows lugols iodine.
8 drops for 2%
4 drops for 5%
Thank you

For some reason, I'm not able to reply to your message. I'm going through all the messages trying to find your comment.
I take Iodoral 12.5 tabs. It's 5%
My serving size is 3 drops, 2%. 3000 mcg, so isnt it more than 8?
Why do I have a metallic taste in my mouth.
How often to take? Daily?
Are you on a carnivore diet?
I have Hashimoto's, also with few symptoms other than lower temperature and insomnia that doesn't affect my quality of life. Carnivore for 4 years, so diet isn't the issue. From my own deep dive, iodine is only part of the problem. Not enough full-spectrum sunlight is a common problem these days, plus too much blue light and at the wrong time (after sunset).
Cold therapy has been recommended by many people I respect and trust, but I'm loathe to do it.
Maybe see a naturopathic doctor to discuss your particular case?
@@Maria-zv9uplook at what I eat in my comment above
@@TerriblePerfectionyeah good luck me finding one where I live….. and I know more about nutrition and biochemistry than they do so it’s sort of pointless. I just need tests done but can’t do Own Your Labs or Quest or LabCorp because there isn’t one near me
Are you living in a selenium deficitent place? Some places have low selenium in soil so there is a need to supplement
Great interview. He’s funny & interesting to listen to. Thank you!
Brought here looking for more information on iodine from DR. Berry's podcast. Interestingly, Dr. Chaffee had Dr. Elizabeth Bright recently too (from the video description: Dr Elizabeth Bright is an Osteopath and Naturopath specializing in improving hormone function naturally through diet.). Fascinating stuff. Thank you.
Dr. Bright is coming on again on my channel too!
Hi do you know what is the upper limit of dosing ?@@NutritionwithJudy
Dr Bright is big proponent of iodine! She focuses on women’s hormones too, I believe.
Thank you both so much for all this detail. The more we know the more it helps! Especially in areas where affordable functional medicine or integrative practitioners are not available.
Well done! I took iodine years ago but stopped thinking that eating sea vegetables was sufficient but just diagnosed with lymphoma. Going back on I asof today and thanks for the inspiration!
What do you eat?
Oh my gosh! I have had a cyst on my pancreas for 16 years, and it recently ruptured, but i believe it is returning. It is totally unacceptable that commercial medicine doesn't understand basic bodily function. I will be stopping watching this video temporarily to order lugols iodine. Thank you!!!
I love how thoughtful and intelligent Judy’s questions are in her podcasts. Yes I’m detoxing for just a few drops of Lugol’s in this last week. That means it’s working but i need to temper it.
I love this Doctor and his honest discussion about our failed health system. Good for him for seeking real solutions rather than pushing pills! We need millions more just like him. I hope dkctors watch this and break the cycle of Big Pharma influence. Help people! ❤😊
This will be a good interview ❤
