I have been taking Iodoral for about 12 years now. My daughter was trying to get pregnant but was having trouble conceiving. She was in her middle 30's. She started researching and learned that iodine deficiency could play a part in her inability to get pregnant. She also learned that it was helpful in not getting breast cancer. I was in my mid 50's by that time so she thought I should consider taking it, too, since my grandmother died of breast cancer which had gone into the bone. My daughter did get pregnant not too long after she started the supplement. She had bought 2 bottles and gave me one. The thing I noticed the most was that within two or three weeks, my skin started feeling so soft and luxurious. It felt like it was thickening even. I decided that if nothing else, maybe it would keep my skin from thinning with age. I started taking it every day but had a couple of doctors caution me about it. So I reduced it to only twice a week. I am encouraged by this video and I plan to increase it to at least 4 times a week now that I am 69 years old. Thank you so much!

I got blood work done for my hormones and I asked for iodine to be checked bc I knew my symptoms could be linked to low iodine . My Iodine actually was below normal!
My thyroid was in normal range but on the low end of normal . The doctor suggested I get on thyroid meds (and testosterone which was in normal range but low normal ) and I was like why? If it’s my iodine causing it why not get more iodine and help my thyroid that way? So concerning that some doctors are so narrow focused they miss the obvious solutions.

It is a doctors classic mistake. Doctors don't treat root cause. They are trained to treat symptoms with drugs through differential diagnosis. A doctor will treat low thyroid with hormones without checking iodine which is root cause and you will feel worse and develop autoimmune disease.

If you take too much, your body pees out the excess. My endocrinologist told me that he wasn't worried about me taking too much iodine. You may get a bad reaction if you have active Hashimoto's. Once under control you can take iodine.
Also, if you live by the ocean, like all Japanese do, you get iodine from the air.

My chiropractor, from years ago, put me on iodine. I have used it on and off over the years. I still plan to have all my values tested at my next physical. I have told other women they need that iodine, especially when they thyroid hormone levels. They tell me their doctors advise them against using any type of iodine supplement. I still use it and I am glad to know I am doing what is best for myself. My dose is 600 mcg every other day or so. And I try to use a small amount of iodized salt on my food daily. It is good to hear that I do need it and should continue to take it.
I do plan to up my dose and get the version you advocate for. Thanks for all this great information.

I got the higher dose yesterday. The hot flashes and fatigue that would hit me every couple of hours, that has been with me since I started menopause, actually stopped after my first does of the 12.5 mg Iodoral. I even have a lot more energy. The feeling of pressure or something like that, around the front of my neck, has also decreased.
After being in the hospital with an emergent high blood pressure, I saw my TSH was very high, even though the T4 was normal. No T3 was done. So, I decided to get the Iodoral. Thank you so much. I feel like I have found at least one solution to help me get feeling better.

I’ve been taking 6.5 mg of iodine daily for several years. My doctor checks my levels and he wanted me to cut back even though I have thyroid issues still on medication. My levels flagged high again on my current labs. I’m not the least bit concerned and especially after listening to your video and reading Dr. Brownstein. He’s going to be upset that I didn’t do what he asked me to and I see him next week . It’s a constant battle in some areas because in so many areas he still has this outdated way of practicing medicine. I wish I could find someone in Tampa, Florida, that my insurance would take like you, Dr. Susan. Not sure if one exists. It’s all I can do to buy the the compounded hormones, supplements, etc.. I need that insurance doesn’t cover it. I don’t have the funds to pay for a doctor, too. So many of us are in the same boat.

I recently switched to all carnivore diet, after 5 decades of mainly plant based diet had made me very ill. I have the same deficiencies in vitamins and minerals since at least 40 years. I was always told by doctors to eat even more veggies and fruits. I did not only get several autoimmune diseases, but also suffer from other diet related problems. So here is what I do now:
I use natural Celtic salt and Himalayan salt without any added stuff. I also take D3 4,000 i.E. together with K2, selenium, Lugol's solution 5% (2*2 drops daily), all the B vitamins, some vitamin C, zinc and magnesium. I think that finally all the calcium in my blood will be restored in my bones. I will keep on having my blood checked to adjust my intake appropriately.

@@KenJackson_US I was literally dieing until I was saved by the all carnivore diet. Now I am reversing all my autoimmune diseases and growing hair where I had gone bald years ago from Alopecia. My hair also was completely white, now it's growing again with color. Almost all my facial wrinkles are gone, only 2 left in my face between the eyebrows, and 2 on my neck. They will vanish too, I am convinced.
Today is my day #81 on my all carnivore diet. I meanwhile also got rid of chronic bladder inflammation by adding MSM powder to my supplements. I take 3 * 2 teaspoons of that every day, but started out with 1 * a half teaspoon.
In getting better every single day. People tell me I seem to have had cosmetic surgery done. I lost 13 kg by going all carnivore, even though I'm gaining muscles.
I'm down 3 European sizes since the end of February already. I want to lose 35 more kg to get my weight from my teens back.
When people ask me what I am doing, I tell them. They don't believe me and think I am on some diet meds. 😂 In reality, I dumped all my meds, except for my pain medication, which I cut down by a third.
I have a long list of diagnoses and I'm looking forward to every single doctor's appointment now. Until recently, these appointments caused anxiety. I wish I would have known about this diet earlier or should have been told me by doctors. Changing diets earlier in life would have saved me from so much pain and regrets.
My former boyfriend, who is 21 years younger than I am, told me that if I carry on with this, I will soon look younger than him. 😀
Sadly, I can't convince those, who are fat and unhealthy. They just won't believe me when I tell them the truth. And sadly, they won't even give it a try. 😢 This infuriates me if course.

Excellent Doctor. A few other points.
The thyroid uptakes iodide and converts it to iodine through oxidation then distributed through symporter.
Estrogen inhibits iodine. Women need more than men.
Iodine stored in the thyroid, breasts, prostate, salivary glands.
Body total about 1500mg. Up to 50mg in thyroid, muscles 450mg, skin 300mg.
Ovaries make thyroid hormone T2. Bone marrow white blood cells make thyroid hormones.
Halides that interfere with iodine absorption include bromide, chlorine and fluoride.
Everyone is iodine deficient unless eating seaweed. Most saltwater fish is farm raised, no iodine.
In the 70s hospitals were giving 400mg 3x per day of supersaturated iodide for severe asthma.
Should check for thyroid nodules. In rare cases people can have autonomous or hot nodule.
Babies are now being born with hypothyroidism and lower IQ as a result of mom's being iodine deficient.
Iodine critical for babies first 3 months of neuro pathway formation.
Lugols iodine/iodide good also where you can start lower at one drop 2.5 mg.
D3. Most are deficient get a 25 hydroxy test and get above 50ng/ml. 5000iu D3 very safe.
D3 also important for babies bone formation and immune system.

I started using hormone replacement creams as well and that really changed the game. I don't think it's one or the other though. They both serve different purposes but also work together. When your body naturally stops producing estrogen and progesterone because your reproductive days are over iodine is not going to just jump in and change that natural cycle. You still need hormone replacement if you want to continue to actually produce them like you did when you were younger. However,, iodine is necessary to make that work correctly as well. I don’t think it’s safe to assume that just because in one part of the world, they are able to consume more iodine that it’s the same everywhere. There are genetic differences and cultural differences that can attribute to people developing the ability to digest food differently in different parts of the world just as, various cultures have more or less diseases than others. The higher iodine count may indeed be important. It’s probably the best approach to Test while taking a higher amount as too much iodine can cause severe illness and problems. Even just the fluctuation from going from low iodine to moderate iodine can in rare cases cause some issues if you look at the research.I would be careful in the recommendation of starting at 12 mg personally again hard to know what the exact number to be appropriate would be

Blood tests for iodine are not very useful since it doesn't circulate in the blood for long. It integrates itself into our body at quadrillions of locations. Correcting a deficiency can take years. I'm still wondering if the old iodine skin patch test is useful. Topical iodine was absorbing into my skin in only a few hours a year and half ago. Since then I've done 2000mcg for about 5 days a week. I eat salt and I've added a small amount of Selenium to complement the Iodine. The patch test absorption is slowing down now and shows faintly after 12 hours. Iodine sublimates so many think this test is bogus. It's an indicator. I'd love to know what doctors think of this test these days.
