The most common killer of both men and women is heart attack, so understanding how to reduce our risk could not be more important. Since the 1980's, studies have consistently shown that menopausal hormone therapy (particularly estrogen) reduces the risk of heart disease in women. The now infamous Women's Health Initiative study surprised the medical community in 2002 by suggesting that hormone ...

I had stage 3 ER positive breast cancer in my 40’s and took nearly 10 years of estrogen blocking meds to help prevent a recurrence. So I wonder if taking estrogen or progesterone is safe for me? Thank you.
Is creatine the reason my hair is thinning? Or is it just because I'm gonna be 40 soon?
Hello, does this information/benefits also pertain to monohydrate creatine?
Some studies show that estrogen levels below 100 do not protect against osteoporosis and other diseases.
Dr Susan, I LOVE your channel! Do you have a video or podcast that would be useful to share with my husband to explain why I need to take hormones, and I can’t just do this via diet and exercise? I’m post menopausal (age 56), healthy otherwise …but with practically no estradiol or testosterone (just started on both). He is supportive but also worried I am taking risks. Kind of one where the audience is men. ❤😊
Thank you - I don't have anything specifically designed for men, but I would look back at a couple of recent podcasts, looking at the benefits of hormone replacement for heart disease as well as breast cancer. Those are the two things that most people are concerned about. Both fairly recent :)
I’m reading my blood results and confused, my Free T3 is 3.2 and my doctor is suggesting medication to treat Hypothyroidism. I’m much more holistic and hesitant- at this level should I not try to get it down through a more natural way and watching diet etc first? Or would this help me to get the excess lbs. off?
I started about 2 months ago and had to stop because it caused horrible abdominal discomfort. Any suggestions?
That's a rare side effect, but try starting at a lower dose - like 2 grams
🤔wow, hope you’re better now.
You look beautiful in this video 👍
Shall I stop HRT for a while to stop the bleeding and once stopped to start again but with a smaller dose of Estrogen and equal amount of Progesterone at night? I used to take 50 Estrogen patch twice a week and 100mg Estrogen but on empty stomach as Dr recommended but then I increased myself the dose of Estrogen to 100mg and same 100mg Progesterone in the morning. When I went to gynecologist she told me to increase the dose of Progesterone to 200mg but at night. I did that and just after 3 days after I started having lots bleeding as on my period but not super heavy. Now I wonder if I should stop all HRT till the bleeding stops?
I tried Creatine, but after a week, I got the worst vertigo of my life on it. Took over a month to feel normal again. My dr told me that for some people this can happen. Apparently I’m highly sensitive to it so it’s a no for me.
I had to laugh at the ‘people in the gym know how important it is to take.’ I’ve been in the gym when a person who just took something got sick all over the machine they were using.😅 Suddenly I’m getting all these videos in my feed about supplements. Finding out if they work in the gym probably isn’t the best experience.
@@dtraveler3080 😂😂 about like taking advice from influencers. Some things work for people but we definitely need to do our own research and supplement with caution. My husband uses Creatine, and he says it’s helps with muscle recovery post workout, but I won’t go near the stuff again.
I’m so grateful for this video. I went through vaginal bleeding and based on the information and comments I read on this video I asked my doctor to increase my daily PROGESTERONE dose from 200MG to 400MG a day for six days and the bleeding stopped. Now I’m back on my 200mg daily dose again. Thanks so much doctor Susan. You’re THE BEST!! ✨🙏❣️

@@gabrielanita8319 Hi, according to what the doctor Susan said on this video and according to my doctor as well you should never take progesterone on an empty stomach or in the morning but at night after a meal. Did you watch the whole video?
@@gabrielanita8319 I wouldn’t stop the HRT. Talk to your doctor about increasing your progesterone even higher just until the bleeding stops. I’m on a 0.025 mg/day estradiol two patches a week and on a 200ml progesterone pill daily. Hope this helps.
@@carlahabib1768 Hi. Thank you for your reply. Yes, I watched the video and as I mentioned I started taking the Progesterone at night after food and a higher dose of 200mg. I think that's what triggered the bleeding. I'm thinking to stop the Estrogen all together for the moment and maybe the Progesterone too, until bleeding stops. The video was very helpful. Thanks
Thank you, this video is so important. Unfortunately I have a gyn who refuses to raise the progesterone so I'm just shedding. Can you recommend an HRT-literate gyn in NYC?
Creatine made me have aches and pains really bad. Why do you think it caused this?
Never experienced that in my patients, but everybody is different.
Great. Idea! So glad Drs are standing up for Menopausal women! Just a quick question about delivery methods, I see most take progesterone orally, I don’t take any hormones orally but just wonder why progesterone often is?
Great video! That was supposed to say
Does insurance pay for testosterone cream that’s commonly prescribed for men? How do you ask for the prescription from your ob/gynecologist? Just say low libido?
I started hrt transdermal at 64. I had a very good lipid profile.. great diet. Not over weight.. after I started hrt my lipids are high now. My ldl p doubled. Will this balance back at some point? It's been 16 months already.
You are so amazing…I’m looking at creatine today❤
Thanks for reassuring I started to take Creatine a while ago and it's fantastic for muscle ..
Can you take creatine if you take a GLP-1?
Absolutely yes
I’m so excited to try creatine! I always thought it was for bodybuilders only. Awesome to hear the brain and bone benefits as well. Dr. Susan thank so much! You’re continuously improving my health with every video. Not many people can say that. 🎉
How about using men's androgen in tiny quantity?
My gyno is making me go back to oncologist to discuss hrt after breast cancer stage 1 in 2015. I've watched several videos and told gyno my quality of life outweighs the risk. It's sad that they aren't educated more with up to date info. I need her to watch this entire video. It's soooo frustrating the hoops I gotta jump thru for this
Should one avoid creatine if their creatinine levels are on the higher side of normal with no kidney or liver disease?
No evidence that creatine is related at all to kidney or liver disease. Any excess creatine will convert into creatinine and be passed through your kidneys.
You mentioned Creatine Monophosphate however Thorne is Creatine Monohydrate
Great video and information. I’ve just ordered Thorne product. Does creatine interfere with aklermansia? Can both be taken together? Any information your provide will Be appreciated
I take both together
Great video 👍
How many mg should you start out with?
5 grams
I got severe muscle cramps from creatine and had to drink upwards of 100 ounces of water to get relief. I think I will go with testosterone to build muscle.
Very informative information! I plan to start taking 5mg.
I so appreciate your thorough discussion on how and why to take Creatine. Your medical expertise is incredibly helpful.
I have a sexual desire but my husband doesn’t.
My creatine levels are low. I was told that’s because I don’t drink enough water.
That's creatinine . Not creatine Different - can't check creatine in the blood !
Hello. I am a married male. I am in awe of how ignorant I am on this particular part of female anatomy! I owe you a thousand thank you,s for this incredible informative video!! It will be life changing for me/ us! Thank you. 👍🌹
I can't reach the website is it crashed
At 65 I started taking creatine to help with muscle development and found a surprising benefit of major improvement in my gut health. I had tried everything to repair my gut from decades of gluten damage and then gallbladder removal. Absolutely nothing seemed to help; but then I began taking a high quality creatine and my digestive health has never been better. I drink it with a full glass of water, starting with a half scoop and gradually increasing to a full scoop. I will take a scoop of creatine every day for the rest of my life, as it has made such a positive change in my health.
What brand are you talking?
@@phoenixgirl11 I take Muscle Feast with Creapure. I get it from Amazon in the 2lb container because my husband and I both use it. Decent price if you subscribe.
Thank you for sharing about the gut benefits. I also have trouble with the gut and haven’t been able to solve it. I hope I get the same benefits from the creatine.

I add Micronized Creatine in my after workout recovery shakes. Very true, most people who workout at the gym know how important Creatine is as a supplement and my Hormones Doctor is all for Creatine as well. Thank you, great video.
So I had a viral appointment in May with a menopausal specialist and told her this is my issue. I’m 67 and have had no sex drive for years and she said I should see a sex therapist and that they don’t treat women my age. So I’m really confused.
This has been so helpful and I took notes. It’s been a struggle for quite some time for me. I’m from Canada, and 3 years ago we moved to the next province over and my kids went different ways for schooling. My youngest is now working and living where he grew up and my oldest is still in university in a different province. It has been extremely difficult going through this alone because I have had no one to talk to or share with and have not known how to process my emotions or how to deal with all this. It has been difficult to be around families where their young adult kids are still at home and I have felt so alone. I haven’t met anyone in our new city yet where I could have these kinds of conversations with nor have family to talk to about this stuff. I’ve started journaling which is somewhat helpful. I have watched a couple of your videos about empty nest and it has been helpful.
From the past 3 years my resting glucose has been high, then through genetic testing I found I carry a genetic marker that predisposes me to type 2 diabetes. I am not overweight, I exercise regularly. My A1C was 5.6. Going back to my Keto diet and will see if that helps, I generally don’t eat junk food so this is very distressing. Also, I was just diagnosed with Hashimito’’s thyroiditis.

Thank you for the valuable information. You have no idea how your video helped me understand so much about hormone therapy, there is so much negative information that keeps us from getting the right help. Thank you so much!!
Okay im racking my brain over this. My testosterone is 59. Estradiol 331. If i take the testosterone x10.... Its 590. I have felt like hell for a few years now (had to even quit my job), can anyone tell me if testosterone pellets would help me... Im desperate
Very informative! I doubt insurance cover the O shot? What is the cost in general? Thank you
Correction Be aware that testosterone injections do not need to be given with a big needle I use a course needle to draw the required dosage into the syringe, then switch needles to a 30 gauge ultrafine needle to painlessly self inject twice a week into thigh muscle. This maintains a steady T level much better than weekly or bi-weekly. But note... because T is in an oil base, it takes longer and more pressure on the plunger to inject. But,so much less pain. Give your men a break...use 30 gauge ultrafine needles
I just started taking estradiol and progesterone almost 3 months ago and feel like it’s put me into the menopause I never had to deal with. I have extreme hair loss, fevers that make me feel like I have the flu and knock me out, my heart rate is MUCH higher than normal, brain fog is no better, night sweats that I never experienced during actual menopause, my gut is all messed up, fatigue … none of which I had before starting. They tell me to give it three full months to see if I balance out, but right now I feel like the long term benefits just aren’t worth this - especially not knowing when it will end. Has anyone else experienced this?
I’ve tried to order the cbd tincture you use, but it’s not on the website. What do you advise?
Doctors who use pellets make a huge amount of money, with the cost of insertion. And if the dose is too high or too low you’re stuck with it. Patch is so much better, but doctors don’t make money on it like they do with pellet inserts.
So, what if your doc won't prescribe testosterone, where could I get it? It's nearly impossible to find an informed physician regarding this and I really cannot afford an out-of-pocket physician... :-(
my dr will only prescribe synthetic hrt... prob cheaper.. i have to think about what i'm going to do
How do I get my free T3 treated my doctor endocrinologist seems to brush it off
