Dr. Susan, this was an incredible video! I am a women's health NP and love, love how you present this information ...accurate, research based and clear steps to embark on a healthy and vibrant mid to late life! Wish I were in Texas so I could be a patient myself!

Invaluable information - thank you so much Dr. Hardwick - Smith! I wrote so many notes from this video and taking it right to my doctors. I also remember you in a recent summit I believe it was on breast cancer health.

Great thorough video. I love your delivery. Though I can barely get through the prep, I have had 3 since I was 55. 2 times they found pulps that can turn to cancer . I have to go every 5 years since my mother passed away at my age (67) of colon cancer. She never had colonoscopies until it was too late. Also, the Calcium scoring test is great. I had high LDL and did not want to go on statins, so my dr suggested this test. I have had 3. At 55 I had 0 calcification, at 60 still 0, at 65 a low score of 2.4. Well worth the money. Last one I had done in Columbus OH. Cost was only 100.00. I would recommend anyone who is on the fence to have this test. Have a great day!

Thank you, Dr Hardwick-Smith for your insight and knowledge. I do some items on your list that I feel proud of, but I see it is not to the fullest. At 68 and retired, I am going to make this my full time job to take the best care of my body and soul. Your list is my new guide. Now I just need to find a doctor like you to be my health advocate. Wish it was you.

Thank you so much for all of your incredible knowledge and health solutions. I would love to see an in-depth video on how to go about lowering blood pressure. It seems like there are so many different diets and opinions that talk about how to do this including lipid panels and it is so overwhelming to know what to eat to maintain sugars, lipids and blood pressure. Thank you so much!

You have some misconceptions regarding Norwegians😂 I'm Norwegian, and I don't know a single person (except myself) who eat a lot of sardines. More common in Spain, I think. We do, however, ingest a lot of cod liver oil😊

68yr old, 6', non-smoker, English male who weighed 325lb nine years ago living in NY & decided I REALLY needed to lose weight!
Keto was my way forward, followed by One Meal Daily & occasional fasting and latterly a mostly carnivore diet (eggs, fish, meat, cheese, butter, olive oil, few veg, all home cooked & no processed foods) & I realise men & women's metabolism is different, but as of February 2024, I'm down to 197lb. In order to get to my personal, healthy weight & BMI, I'm centred on 175lb optimally. I also feel I am now Insulin-sensitive since taking some carbs once in a while, does not adversely affect my weight, but I immediately resume the LCHF one-meal daily.
I do not exercise over & above 'normal' activity but intend doing resistance training when I reach my weight but absolutely eliminating or severely reducing carb intake has been paramount for myself. I feel autophagy is happening because considering the body-mass loss, I really don't have much loose skin visible.
I am certainly trying to get more sleep & Lavender oil on pillow seems to be effective for me although not consistently, so that has to worked upon.
Brilliant encapsulated video of all the salient points for healthy later life. Thank you.

Great video Dr. Susan. Any suggestion on how to get reg MD to check homeosystine? Mine was checked in 2020 (age 47) by a holistic/integrative doc, and i don't see her any longer due to monthly costs/ins not covering. I did find I needed to supp with vit B, but jsut wondering how I am these days. Thanks for all your valuable info!

Really cheap and easy to check ! I would simply ask them to add it to your fasting labs !

Thank you. Yeah I guess it's more the look I get when I ask for that type of test. I had my GP say "I don't know what that is" so then in turn she did not know how to interpret. Sigh. @@drsusan

Thank you so much for this video! learned a lot.I wonder if it is possible to build muscle at 75. I didn't know about this 20 years ago. My mom was bedridden for last 3 years of her life. She could not walk and before.that had to use a walker. She was 96. I don't want to end up like my mom
I am realistic enough to know that we all die, but I want quality of life

    • @drsusan
      @drsusan  8 месяцев назад +2

My mom is 90 with terrible osteoporosis and almost no mobility, so we do not want to go that direction you can certainly build muscle at any age it's not too late!

@deborahlove3986. My 74 yo Mom regained the ability to walk after being bedridden for 18 months; she fell out of bed, broke her hip and the PT they ordered 2xs per day worked miracles!! She could even walk without a walker!!

I’m 59 on hrt but have had insomnia for a long time. I’ve tried every rx sleeping pill on the market. I have hypothyroidism which contributes to poor sleep but I can only sleep 3-4 hrs wake up for 2 sleep for another hour and it’s wreaked havoc on my body. I’ve done all the rest of the. I take magnesium and melatonin which don’t help

I love listening to your videos regarding menopause and hormones. However, I feel you didn’t injustice to carnivore diet. I have been a carnivore for two years. I have never been healthier in my whole life hormones regulated off of rheumatoid arthritis medicine no high blood pressure medicine anymore. I am 62 years oldand the most I have ever been I have lost 37 pounds and have build my body mass up and look better than I have in 30 years. So please research cholesterol before not recommending a carnivore diet.
