I was in a severe depression and getting sober. My Dr. Had me taking at most 19 pills a day... I got sober on my own and then felt a drastic improvement I wanted to come off meds. He asked why. I told him. He said he felt they were working so he wanted to leave everything as it was. Well I took myself off everything one at a time. And then never went back. Now 41 sober and rx free!!!!!

Lucky you! My elderly dad loves to hunt and he got 4 white tail deer this year (on his own land, legally) and my husband and I helped him Process the meat. I ate venison sausage for breakfast today. Yum!

Oh my gosh, I love this doctor. She just commented that she listens to her patients….thank you Dr.Ede! Thank goodness my experience with antidepressants was monitored by a great psychiatrist within the Los Angeles County mental health department.
This is excellent!! I am a psychotherapist and nutritionist/ health counselor! This is exactly the philosophy of my counseling- and my own lifestyle, along with daily meditation and exercise in my own life! Have been therapist almost 53 years! So glad to glad to hear a psychiatrist who does not push psychotropics!
@KenDBerryMD You are a kind of prophet who preaches the good word to save humanity from diseases that were considered incurable like diabetes. You save their eyesight, their feet, their kidneys...their lives! God bless you!
Prior to starting the ketogenic diet January 2024 I had never heard of a connection between mental health and diet. But, my first reaction to how I felt after changing my diet was wow, I’m no longer so sad.
The story about the mom who was hospitalized every year for forty years and recovered in weeks on a Keto diet is testimony to how resilient the human body and mind can be!! Wow !
Good morning from fellow MD-OEM Athens, Greece. I just returned to this video, because I was just talking to a patient of mine, who was diagnosed with "stress disorder" and put on Cymbalta, instead of counsulting her on how to handle a narcissistic mother and an abusive husband.
Just bought your book! 📕 I am SO excited to start this journey! Couldn’t be better timing! I’m 39, history of mental illness for most my life, misdiagnosed with depression and anxiety. Just found out a few weeks ago that I’m actually bipolar 2 and adhd. And it makes SENSE! If I really think about it, these diagnosis make sense for everything about me in my life. So many emotions with this at my age being diagnosed. I have been SO SCARED of starting lithium and/or lamotragine! I told my psych Dr I needed to really think about this bc these meds are no joke from what I’ve researched. I have NOT started them! I’m also 6 months sober from alcohol! Have struggled with alcohol for 20 years off n on. I finally feel I am in the perfect place in my life and READY to start my healing journey! I am on day 2 of carnivore! Pray for me! I feel like God led me to this carnivore diet when He did for a reason! To spare me from years of pain and agony from going on heavy drugs! THANK YOU BOTH! I cannot WAIT to read your book! Tears of joy! This path just feels right!
UPDATE! I am over 2 months in of eating carnivore with zero cheat whatsoever! I have consumed a few plants here n there but I am mostly all animal products. I eat OMAD. I bought a GKI keto meter and I test my glucose/ketones often. I am in a constant state of high therapeutic ketosis. I. FEEL. AMAZING. The first few weeks was pretty rough just with the adaptation period, not sleeping, RLS, etc. BUT…then it got SOOOO GOOD!! I sleep like a baby, I’ve had NO mental health issues whatsoever! Not been depressed in the slightest, no anxiety, no bipolar episodes! SOOO much energy! I also started doing ice baths! This is the best I have ever been in my 39 years of life. I WILL NEVER GO BACK! Carnivore is my medication and new way of life! Thank you Lord!!! Please stick with this you guys! IT WORKS!!
So happy to hear about your progress. Getting sober from alcohol is huge in itself. Alcohol was masking a lot of your mental health symptoms. Blessings on your journey
Georgia Ede, I'm so glad I found you about a month ago. You have given me hope and encouragement to overcome decades of mental sickness. I have tried so many diets and protocols throughout my life, so many different supplements which has cost me a fortune. I'd love to share my story with you at some point. I was on citalopram for 18 years, just made me more functional but did nothing for my soul and didn't allow any healing. I am 1 week into carnivore after 2 on keto. Early days I know, but even so there are days when I see hope and possibility, albeit briefly. I'm 51 and felt off since a teen. Not sure how I made it here. Just wanted you to know that your book is great and you've kept me believing. Sometimes I'm not consumed with death and darkness. Sometimes I feel a newness I can't explain. I would love to tell you my story one day. You are saving and have saved so many. I do hope one of them is me.
I had major depression during the pandemic, with a gain of 100 pounds, I started ketovore/carnivore and also psychotherapy, the results in 10 months are very positive, mentally 85% better, weight loss of 110 pounds, readjustment of medication for pressure and soon anti depressant, food plays a major role.
I startet Keto/Ketovore to solve other issues. But a few months in I suddenly noticed how good life feels. Before I always felt tired, overworked, overwhelmed, no one helps or understands me, … I think I was depressed looking back, and I did not even know it. It was my normal back then. Thank you doctors for teaching the way to health!
I'm just about in tears. We just had an incident with an 11 year old who went completely of control for over an hour. It took four men to help keep him from hurting himself and others. I'm sharing this video in the hope that this child's mother will find hope and help. 😢 Thank you both!
When I was working in a clinic as a Vision Therapis a psychologist told me about a ‘violent’ young teen who RAGED due to a brain-allergy to …. even ONE slice of an ORANGE. Test for allergies !!!
Say who?? I haven't consumed meat for 60 years. I'm just fine. Keep those fantastic videos going!! What you eat really matters. Most psychiatrists who study the brain don't do what this doctor is doing. FOOD IS MEDICINE. she is addressing nutrition for mental health. 23:22
100% T&P from the VA, I have had a slow and steady decine in mental health for about 18 years. I've tried medications, DBT, CBT, written exposure therapy, guilt/shame counseling, exposure therapy and many different meds. NOTHING WORKS in its entirety, nothing. For 18 long years seeing therapists, group therapy, medical professionals, and pastors never once was I approached with this by any professional, and these people have master's, and doctorates degrees.. im baffled, is my next route, I won't live to see 50 at this rate. I'll report back in a few months, see what carnivore or at least deep Keto does for me. Thank you so much Dr. BERRY and Dr. Ede.
Thank you for sharing your story. I'm so happy for you that you are willing to try different eating to see the result for yourself. I don't know what you have been eating while having problems you have been describing. I had a friend that I wasn't able to convince to come back to eating meat and fat again Over the 25 years I had seen her mental decline as she went vegetarian first and then strict vegan. OMG, her mood swings, panic attacks and paranoia made her very difficult to be around as she was so antisocial. She decided to be vegan for health reasons, and totally lost her mind. She couldn't keep a job, no one could stand being close to her any more and she was so suspicious of other people's malicious behaviour towards her that she ended up all by herself. Veganism 'consumed' my friend's brain and her sanity. It was a tragedy for anyone close to Elena to watch her decline. At the same time, I am very happy for you that you are willing to test for yourself a different type of eating and see the results. I hope it's going well for you and that you might post an update on how things are for you now. All the best to you!
Great information! One of your best interviews Dr Berry! Anxiety takes the joy out of life. Only those who have suffered with it can identify! Obsessive thinking is exhaustive!
Dr Ede’s compassionate way of exploring ways to reach people who are currently choosing plant based diet, validating them, and meeting them where they are, lovely to hear her elaborate on this
Dr Ede, speaks from a place of care and not judgement. I’ve been eating carnivore for a few weeks only and my mood improving. I feel like maybe there is actually some hope and may not suffer in my mind forever. Thank you ❤
Hazza! I went keto and now carnivore for my hypoglycemia, IR and prediabetes. All reversing after 40 yrs of dealing with it. It is working very very well. I can have small bouts of depression (not debilatating but measurable), mental stress, anxiety, and hadnt entertained that the diet would impact this in any way. I own and run my own company and assumed this went with that territroy. Well, this way of eating does impact all this. My stress levels are down, anxiet down and amazingly my emotional where with all has got very level, no real highs or lows. My brain fog also alleviated. Keep bringing this info to main stream, much needed.
My mother took statin drugs for 15 years because she had high cholesterol and she ended up with Dementia by the time she was 78. I also have high Cholesterol its 270 but I have clean arteries and a strong heart no plaque at all and Im lean. Every Doctor I went to wanted me on Statins but they upset my liver and caused liver pain. I knew it was not for me. and I was only in my early 40's at that time. Now I am 66, and I have clear arteries no plague a strong heart and a sharp mind. Im not making the same mistake my mom did. My mom lived to 90 with a cholesterol level of over 350. Its a shame the statins drugs destroyed her brain. She would have had a happier life. I will not make the same mistake. Ive been eating a very low carb high fat/protein diet now and feel amazing.
I have been on SSRI's for decades. I got off of them because they made me worse. Ive taken lorazepam for about 5 years now. Currently getting off of it with my doctor. Low carb diet has helped a lot. Im going to try carnivore.
47yo male, diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder Type 1 in my early 20’s. It’s true that hope is hard to find with traditional pharmaceutical treatments. They keep me steady but not thriving to the extent I know is possible. Thank you for sharing these out of the box approaches.
Love your work dr Berry. And have to say, you have taught us that, in the first instance, do not blindly trust your doctor and definitely not the government's health recommendations.
Saved to watch tonight, but you nailed it with that first line. Living with crippling anxiety for 20 years has caused me to lose hope. 4 months of carnivore hasn’t helped much on that front yet, but, I have been under a LOT of extra stress these past 6 months due to the health reasons that lead me to finding this way of eating.
@@stellaancimer8505 I’m not sure how to describe it. It just makes living extremely uncomfortable. Like I’m about to be hit by an invisible bus I’m trying to jump out of the way of 24/7.
Also consider eating more butter and other healthy fats. . Breast milk is full of cholesterol for a reason. The human brain needs it. Yet we have been starving our brains of it for over half a century. Notice how autism seems to show up about the same time babies get wheened. And how it increased around the same time as the lipid hypothesis.
I was vegetarian, then vegan for 6 years and not only did I not lose any weight, during that last year I suffered 5 months on ongoing panic attacks. My life completely shut down and I was living in a hellish nightmare. I thought I was literally going crazy and wanted to die. I snapped one day and went to 2 different fast food places and ordered the fattiest meat they had and ate it like a starving Neanderthal. I then started crying that I was a failure, threw up and guess what? My panic attacks stopped. I went back to eating meat, but still knew I didn’t feel good because my gut health was awful and my weight wouldn’t budge. I’ve been strict carnivore for a month now and I will never go back. I wouldn’t wish panic attacks on my worst enemy, let alone months of it nonstop.
Wow Love it😂😂 ate it like a Neanderthal 😂😂. I accidently went off my ssris of 15yrs cold Turkey!! Omg my side effects from the meds were gone in several days!! I never knew my No sex drive, insomnia, dizziness, blurry vision and NO EMOTION at all was all from the SSRis!!! Omg my doctor never told me any of these side effects 😮😮.. best accident I ever made...

I bought this book and it is amazing!!! She does a great job explaining and teaching!!! The information is well thought out and it has been filling the gaps in information from other thought leaders in this space.
In the 40s they were starting to talk about the twenty year shadow effect. Twenty years after seed oils enter a populations diet heart attacks and strokes increase. About that time an unknown charity got millions from the food industry. The American Heart Association
Dr. Berry...we need to collaborate to improve childhood nutrition here in Tennessee and try to positively impact mental health in the coming generations. @WilliamByrdMD
Amen! I live in Tennessee and it’s absolutely heartbreaking to me to look around at the majority of children in our state. School lunches are a total joke and it seems like any mainstream discussion of proper nutrition is nonexistent.
Also watch Dr Ede's interview by Dr Chaffee . Thank you again Dr Berry, you all are literally saving lives, improving people's health without aweful side effects , without expensive unaffordable gimmicks... This is real empowering to take snd monitor your own health and the health of your love ones effectively one day at a time. My heroes, God bless❤
Thank you, Dr. Berry. For your service in providing free, life changing, medical information to the public. I'll try to apply this information to those around me who still suffer.
I wish I'd seen this on time so I could have asked my question live. I've suffered from a rigorous form of OCD for over 20 years now-, then medicated and on a cocktail of psychotropics since 2004 (I'll be 39 this August). Currently i'm on Pristiq and Rexulti. The tic-like compulsions began for me after I was put on those dreaded antidepressants-- I've made the connection. All I've gotten out of these meds is a hyper-appetite and obesity, and an unnatural biological dependence. I cannot come off them but I cannot get to a place of even remote mental normalcy. I've tried to get on keto/carnivore but can't seem get myself started. Honestly, I have little hope left. I don't think I'll ever derail myself to the point of being hospitalized, but I loathe the prospect of being saddled with this maddening dysfunction for the rest of my life. I've already wasted all of my youth because of mental illness and food addiction. My prospects for the future appear bleak. 😞
Dr. Eades method is all about hope. Don’t give up. What if it took a year or two? Buy her book. Read it and implement her strategies very slowly. Find a community like Dr Berrys private group who will give support. He has many playlists about starting on keto/carnivore.
I have OCD too - a channel you may have encountered before called OCD Recovery has really helped me. If yoh havent seen it, then please go there and listen. In terms of diet, how about we do it together?
Dr. Ede is a gift 🎁 to humanity. The research and explanations in her book are solid. The writing is fantastic and it’s laid out clearly. I loved it. 🎉
Thank you for this interview!! The MAIN reason I started with this WOE is because my daddy died after 9 years with dementia and I want to avoid the same fate!! Started with Ketovore In January 2023 and transitioned to Carnivore in May 2023!
It took 9 years to wean my son off ssris prescribed to him at 10 years old. We did it with keto. I pray that the ssris did not do any long term damage.
Dr.Georgia Ede is great too like Dr.Berry , I know here from the KETO INSTITUTE in Holland where she was invited when she was in Holland for a Conference 🤗
Dr. Berry talks about his ADHD and Dr. Georgia Ede mentioned ongoing clinical trials on various mental illnesses including ADHD. Although I’ve searched extensively I couldn’t find any study done on humans doşng ketogenic diet to reduce ADHD symptoms (there are only small animal studies done on mice and dogs) Would be wonderful if you can do a dedicated video on effects of ketogenic/carnivore diet on ADHD symptoms and would be great to hear your experience Dr. Berry.
Dr Berry and his guests are always on point with great information. Best Dr I have had the pleasure to take advice from. His advice is free and the best part it works. ❤
This is one of the best interviews I've seen with Dr. Ede. Thank you for asking great questions! And, thank you, Dr. Ede for answering in a way that is so encouraging and hopeful. This is a book that will be added to my reading list and may end up on the doorstep of many of my family members. I will share this video as well. Again, thank you both for all you do to help others heal.❤❤❤
Awesome, understandable information. Thank you both! I’m an old fart, 73 y.o. female, and still willing to learn. I decided to go full steam ahead and am just finishing my 1st week on Carnivore… . quite a transition from many years Whole Food Plant Based believing that was the way to go. My health issues told me differently and why I dug deep to research keto/carnivore. Already amazed to see the inflammation in my hands and arms have lessened! Can hardly wait to see more incredible benefits … maybe my depression, psoriasis, T2 diabetes, and severe arthritis will improve!
I give thanks daily that i found all these terrific docs late 2021 and then plunged into Carnivore on new years day 2022. 25 ½ months ago. Absolutely incredible.
I have proper human instincts and I can tell Dr Ede is the real deal, extremely knowledgeable and calm in the delivery of that knowledge. Instant trust. Thank you both of you 🙏💙
L-theanine is 100% miracle for me 200 mg a.m. 200 mg p.m. and sometimes at bedtime 200.mg also eating carnivore change my life after 40 years of suffering with anxiety, 🤠
I am so grateful for all the work you and your team are doing! I 100% feel so great on this diet, and my quality of life has just improved so much! Thank you again!
Awesome interview!! Mental illness in my family goes back generations on my mother’s side. My mother spent 30 years in nursing homes, and died there in 2017 at age 93. Psychiatric medications prescribed for her had horrific effects, both mentally and physically. My grandmother had a lobotomy in 1940 for depression. I’m so thankful for Dr Ede. It’s obvious she truly cares. Many thanks to both of you, Dr Berry.
@jody green My husband and I worked with our PCP last year to get off venlafaxine. We weaned slowly under her guidance. It was challenging, but we did it and are now pharmaceutical free :) I would not try to wean off without physician guidance
I have just discovered her recently and I'm fascinated by her insights into diet and mental health, she's a great speaker as well. I'll probably buy a copy of her book!
Dr Ede is one of the few carnivore promoters who are graceful and honest enough to acknowledge that most vegans are motivated by the desire to avoid cruelty to animals and are very much aware that they might be depriving themselves nutritionally. But they are prepared to make that sacrifice, opting to make the best of it by taking B12 supplements and the like. I am from a family that traditionally ate non-vegetarian. But a number of my aunts and uncles had opted for veganism from when they were in college. They are all now into their seventies and all doing well. I suspect it is because they abstain from sugars, carbs, oils and processed foods.
I could not be more exited that this is being talked about! Thank you! I plan to go to her website to use her directory to see if I can locate a Dr near me who can support me in my carnivore journey as pertains to depression. I take two meds and am wondering how my 3 week carnivore adventure so far might change my dependence and dosage.
Among tons of other things, the carnivore diet has enabled me not to wake up angry, which I haven't experienced in about 20 years. Plus, it's helped my overall mental well-being. Huge improvement.
Hi from the UK . Great listening on mental health and general well being . I am going to Morroco next month . I researched hotel food . On my, most breakfasts are high carbs ,high sugar . I once ate a pastry before getting on a plane that was all the airport sold as it was a small airport .. I was in pain for the 3 hr flight . Never again I may get a boiled egg hopefully . Wish me luck .
Dr. Berry, some of the SSRIs (and perhaps other classes of psych drugs) are directly available in liquid form without compounding. Fluoxetine and Sertraline are two that I know for sure.
It's very hard doesn't help with all that's been going on with our country I've been dealing with type 1 diabetes since I was 42 and carnivore is helping me in so many ways but it's hard to get back to my art and music when there's so much wrong in our world Love you very much Dr Ken Berry
I love the carnivore diet. It has helped with swelling of my joints, arthritis pain is gone, my ankle swelling is gone, I have a sense of well being mentally. What I’m tackling now is horrible heartburn. I’m on an acid blocker otc medication. Nothing seems to help.
I can relate to your situation. Am struggling with severe acid reflux and silent reflux on ketovore … My hiatal hernia is likely the cause. Can’t get off the PPI …
For what it's worth to you.....I saw on a few different doctor/chiropractor RUclips channels, that Acid Reflux is actually from LOW ACID! I think it's similar to how you have excess moisture in eyes, when you have dry eyes. My eye doctor says with dry eye you overproduce moisture. Dr. Berg indicated to use large quantities of Betaine HCL. One channel says to do 1 Betaine HCL with each meal (middle to end of meal). I started this about a month ago & still took the full Acid Reflux medicine at a different time. After a week or so, I bought a pill cutter & divided the dose in half. I'm still doing a half dose & will start taking 1/4 dose in a few weeks. It gone great! If you eat something that causes esophageal pain - take a little extra. Be very careful if you have an ulcer or if you're on an anti inflammatory (like ibuprofen). Ask your doctor.
@@carolinenachtrab4357 Yes, when the stomach acidity is low due to pills like that, the food does not digest quickly and fully in your stomach. It sits there and starts to ferment like a vat of grain brewing beer. Fermentation causes that bubbling up of the acid but it's not due to too much acid.
@chrisjennifernice224 by improvement, I went from 8-10 /month to 3-4 / year. My scintillating scotoma aura ( shimmering veil in eyesight) disappeared altogether!!
I love the way Dr. Berry respects his guests and allows them to speak.

This is exactly the philosophy of my counseling- and my own lifestyle, along with daily meditation and exercise in my own life! Have been therapist almost 53 years! So glad to glad to hear a psychiatrist who does not push psychotropics!
Hooray for psychotherapist-nutritionist-health counselors! What a great combination:)
Saw her interview with chaffee yesterday. This one is also great Ken. Your channel is a goldmine of nutritional wisdom.
@KenDBerryMD You are a kind of prophet who preaches the good word to save humanity from diseases that were considered incurable like diabetes. You save their eyesight, their feet, their kidneys...their lives! God bless you!
That is well said. Taking a junk food diet and sprinkling some "superfoods" on top is a very common trap.
Georgia Ede is a true leader, and has a very sound approach to healing disorders of the brain. Her book is brilliant.
💐
Check out also Dr Chris Palmer. He & Dr Ede are leading the charge on diet’s connection to mental health, brain health. Carbs are killers.
Prior to starting the ketogenic diet January 2024 I had never heard of a connection between mental health and diet. But, my first reaction to how I felt after changing my diet was wow, I’m no longer so sad.
🎉
The story about the mom who was hospitalized every year for forty years and recovered in weeks on a Keto diet is testimony to how resilient the human body and mind can be!! Wow !
How is she doing now! Does keto still help her?
IT WORKS!!
@@rebekahjoy7921Amazing to hear! So happy for you!!!🎉
@@rebekahjoy7921THRILLED for your success! Great that you followed thru. It takes a lot to change! Especially when not feeling well
So happy to hear about your progress.
Have you also looked into cold water swimming for depression!! It works🎉😊
@@frankvinti925 how wonderful!
I love that you let the guest speak without interruption.
A child in my daughter's grade 3 class in the 90s. Use to go crazy. At least once a week the class ended up in the hallway because of him.
Ede.
Best wishes on this journey! It works!
How are you getting on? Hope things have improved for you 🙏
Thank you for sharing your story.

I have health anxiety and yes it's awful, I'm one month in on Carnivore! Can't wait to see relief
Dr Ede’s compassionate way of exploring ways to reach people who are currently choosing plant based diet, validating them, and meeting them where they are, lovely to hear her elaborate on this
I will be going to the library soon and ask them to get the book.
Thank you Amanda--that will help everyone in the community access it if they are interested!
I just ordered your book, but my daughter works for a library and she says patrons can request books. I am going to request your book.
Thank you Doctors for all your work and time. You are deeply appreciated 🙏🏼
Dr. Berry is a National Treasure! Thank you!
Wow! Let the progress continue! As a person whose mental health has improved. I’m amazed! I can’t wait to see the future of mental health.
Thank you both from Holland❤. It has been a thirty year vegetarian struggle. Finally an answer!

This is a truly profound interview. A game-changer. Thank you.
@carnivoreprime what kind of anxiety do you have, how does it shows? 😊
Make sure you're also getting Vitamin D, I take 10,000 IU every day. Add K2 as well for calcium handling.

❤❤❤ this one. My first time seeing this doctor interviewed. Her compassion and desire to see people heal is obvious.
Never Had any brain zaps!! Thank God.. was on zoloft 100mg 15yrs!! Yes I'm a grumpy bitch now but my memory I can NOW REMEMBER stuff!! Omg

Veganism 'consumed' my friend's brain and her sanity. It was a tragedy for anyone close to Elena to watch her decline. At the same time, I am very happy for you that you managed to connect the dots and that you had pulled through and thriving now! It's so difficult to talk to other vegans about it as it feels as if they are in some ideological cult of self righteous ways of eating and feel special about it. All the best to you!

I loved it. 🎉

She speaks truth
It's very hard doesn't help with all that's been going on with our country I've been dealing with type 1 diabetes since I was 42 and carnivore is helping me in so many ways but it's hard to get back to my art and music when there's so much wrong in our world
Love you very much Dr Ken Berry
Thank you for letting your guest speak and finish. Expert interviewer!
I love the carnivore diet. It has helped with swelling of my joints, arthritis pain is gone, my ankle swelling is gone, I have a sense of well being mentally. What I’m tackling now is horrible heartburn. I’m on an acid blocker otc medication. Nothing seems to help.
Try eating a bit less fat.
Dr. Berg indicated to
use large quantities of Betaine HCL. One channel says to do 1
Betaine HCL with each meal (middle to end of meal).
I started this about a month ago & still took the full Acid Reflux medicine
at a different time. After a week or so,
I bought a pill cutter & divided the dose in half.
I use apple cider vinegar for my acid reflux.
I went carnivore to reduce migraines, and will continue for my brain health altogether thank you!!
